Announcing: The Nine Nights of Narnia Blogging Event!

NineNightsofNarnia copy

There are few books series that inspire such enchantment and wonder as C.S. Lewis’The Chronicles of Narnia. I read them as a young girl and have been in love with the stories ever since. Because it had been such a long while since I read all seven stories, I thought 2013 would be the perfect year to revisit the series and blog about my reading experience. If you, like me, are looking to reread these fantastic stories (or enjoy them for the very first time), join in on theNine Nights of Narnia...

Wednesday Wanderment

IMG_2627

I think I’m wishing for some spring flowers, guys. This cold weather has me freezing all the time! This week has been extremely productive. Since last Wednesday, I’ve written 20,000 words on my new novella/short-novel project! I’ve also overcome a nasty sinus bug and managed to jump back into my workout schedules. It feels terrific to get back in the game after being sick. This week, I’m bringing you a “writing” themed linkup. Enjoy.

We all feel it sometimes…that fatigue that comes when you have spent hours marketing and yet the fruits of your labor don’t appear abundant. Whether you’re a traditional, independent, or soon-to-be published author, a good portion of your time must be spent promoting your books or all your hard labor will have only generated a wonderful story to be shared with yourself and close loved ones. I won’t pretend that marketing endeavors don’t wear me out. They absolutely do. It is hard to feel “on”...

Project Fairy Tale: The Boy Who Cried Wolf by Rob M. Worley (Adaptation Review)

To continue with my Project Fairy Tale posts, I’m greeting you this morning with a review for another adaptation of the classic fable,The Boy Who Cried Wolf. This version shares the original tale’s title. As you can see from the cover image above, the art style is rather stylistic–reminiscent of graphic novels or comics. Personally, for me, the cover was pretty off-putting. I don’t particularly care for the harsh line art and borderline neon coloring. However, once I dove into the book, I dev...

An Update on Tales from Niflheim #3, a New Novella, and Writing Challenges!

No fancy picture for today, guys. Just my thoughts on the empty page. I’ve been somewhat under the weather the last few days and I’m feeling particularly “chill” for the moment. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about writing challenges. Full disclosure here:I’m having trouble writing the third Tale from Niflheim (TFN #3). BothNight BellsandSilent Shades had their own difficulties, for sure, but this book is just giving me fits. There ARE definitely downsides to being a writer who doesn’t spend...

Book Review: Sabriel by Garth Nix

Title: Sabriel

Author:Garth Nix

Length: 491 pages

Genre:Fantasy//YA

My Rating:5/5

This is my third time reading this book (or is it the fourth?) and I can still say that it is one of my all-time favorites. There is nothing quite likeSabrieland her sequels,LiraelandAbhorsen. Nix has created a vast, intricate, and fascinating world that sucks you in and dazzles your mind. I first read these books back in middle school and have continued going back to them again and again. Why? Because Garth Nix is a...

Wednesday Wanderment: Sick-Day Edition

IMG_0022

Bleh. Today is a sick-day. In my house, though, unless you’re totally unable to function, that means working in bed with a bunch of covers, water, and the laptop. I actually “enjoy” sick-days if only for the novelty of getting to lounge around in pajamas with fluffy pillows all day. Work is work, though, and I’ve got LOTS of it to get to today. Not gonna let these HORRIBLE allergies get the best of ME! *cue maniacal laughter*

Ahem…anyway…back to business. Welcome to Wednesday Wanderment: Sick-...
