This development is weighing heavily on Democrats in the state, who just can’t seem to catch a break lately.

They recently complained about this to the New York Times.

Despondent Democrats frustrated by defeat after defeat in Iowa: ‘It is so bad’

Iowa Democrats admitted they felt the party was at the “lowest point in decades” ahead of the 2024 election, as Republicans continue to dominate in the Hawkeye State.

The once purple state has turned bright red, in recent years, as Republican Governor Kim Reynolds signed into law a school choice bill, and restrictions on abortion and gender transition treatments for minors this year.

Despondent Democrats complained to the New York Times that they are exhausted by defeat after defeat at the ballot box.

“It is so bad,” Claire Celsi, a Democratic state senator from West Des Moines told the paper. “I can’t even describe to you how bad it is.”

Former Representative Dave Loebsack, who represented Iowa’s 2nd congressional district from 2007 to 2021, said it was undeniable that Democrats were struggling in the state.

“There’s no question that Democrats are at a low point in Iowa,” he said. “It’s difficult even to recruit people to run when we’re so far down.”

Cloud technology could be “game-changing” for Samsung, says head of services

OPINION: A few weeks back, I flew to South Korea to witness Samsung’s latest range of phones, wearables and tablets, including the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, unveiled in person at Samsung Unpacked.

While there, I attended a roundtable discussion with Samsung’s corporate president and global head of its service business, Won-Jin Lee. Lee oversees Samsung’s Device eXperience (DX) Division and had more recently spearheaded the launch of the Samsung Gaming Hub. 

As a streaming service built into all new Samsung TVs and monitors, the Gaming Hub pulls titles from multiple partnered cloud gaming platforms, including Xbox, Nvidia GeForce NOW, Amazon Luna and Utomik. The app requires no additional console or PC, meaning that all gamers need is a Samsung TV, a Bluetooth controller and a subscription to one or more of the supported cloud gaming platforms to get started.

Currently, there are close to 3000 titles accessible through the Gaming Hub and the number of monthly active users increased threefold from July 2022 to May 2023, marking the service a quiet success in its first year.

Lee isn’t done advocating for the rise of cloud gaming, either. During a roundtable discussion that covered a diverse range of Samsung services, the executive repeatedly circled back to the potential of cloud gaming and the direction he hopes it will take in the future. 

“I’ve been spending a lot of time looking at gaming opportunities for Samsung”, said Lee. “I think that’s a huge opportunity”. 

Lee compared the current trajectory of gaming to other cloud-based advancements that have swiftly become the norm in recent years, including video and music streaming. 

“If we look back at the past 15 years or so, we’ve seen video going from downloads to the cloud”, he explained. “Before that, people were actually downloading videos and now no one downloads, everybody goes to the cloud to consume video. You know when iTunes was the place to buy music, now no one buys music anymore, everything has gone to the cloud. People still download games. I think there’s a huge opportunity in the gaming industry where if you can move a service to the cloud then you can remove all the device dependencies and elevate the user experience to another level”. 

Samsung is in a particularly advantageous position to push this transition. 

“The way the gaming industry is assembled, there’s a console piece, there’s a mobile piece and there’s a PC piece – guess what? We make all of those products”.

So, what does the future of cloud gaming look like for Samsung?

To hear Lee explain it, it’s about giving users the ability to move from one title to another without the restrictions of lengthy download times. Gamers should be able to encounter a game, try it out and determine if they want to continue playing quickly and seamlessly.

The executive compared the console gaming experience with the cloud-based video discovery process on YouTube. 

“A lot of times the video experience on YouTube is that you’re going in and out of different content. You don’t really ponder about what you’re going to watch, but if you do see something interesting you’re going to see it and, within probably about five seconds, you’ll know whether you want to continue watching or just move on to the next piece of content”, said Lee. “Now, compare that to your gaming experience if you are a gamer. That’s a very different experience. You really need to think about whether you want to spend the time to download the game and wait for it, and then to find out that it’s not the right game you want to play. That’s a very shattered experience, in my opinion”. 

“What if you could do the same thing where you can actually try before you decide to play”, pondered Lee. “I think with the cloud technology that experience can be replicated to gaming. I think that would be game-changing”. 

The potential of cloud gaming isn’t limited to the living room, either. After all, a major benefit of cloud gaming is that it releases gamers from the tethers of a console, allowing them to pick up where they left off on a wider selection of devices, and Samsung is a major player in the mobile space.

Lee hopes to see an equally smooth discovery experience arrive on smartphones.

“We talk about being able to play console games without consoles, that’s a pretty big jump. With mobile gaming, it’s going to be pretty similar”, said Lee. “Obviously, you don’t have the device dependency on mobile but the whole discovery experience is pretty clunky in my opinion, so it’s really another level of discovery experience on mobile phones when it comes to gaming”.

US Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that US Attorney for Delaware David Weiss was appointed Special Counsel in the Hunter Biden investigation.

Weiss asked for special counsel status in the Hunter Biden case.

“This appointment confirms my commitment to provide Mr. Weiss all the resources he requests,” Garland said. “It also reaffirms that Mr. Weiss has the authority he needs to conduct a thorough investigation and to continue to take the steps he deems appropriate independently based only on the facts and the law.”

Mark Levin pointed out a special counsel must be chosen from outside of the Justice Department.

David Weiss is currently a US Attorney in Delaware.

James Comer accused Merrick Garland of stonewalling Congressional oversight with his decision to appoint a special counsel.

“This move by AG Garland is part of the Justice Department’s efforts to attempt a Biden family coverup in light of GOP House Oversight’s mounting evidence of President Biden’s role in his family’s schemes selling ‘the brand’ for millions of dollars to foreign nationals.” Chairman Comer said.

Comer continued, “Let’s be clear what today’s move is really about. The Biden Justice Department is trying to stonewall congressional oversight as we have presented evidence to the American people about the Biden family’s corruption. The House Oversight Committee will continue to follow the Biden family’s money trail…”

Americans are right about the Democrats. No matter how bad things get in the country, due mostly to their policies, they just won’t stop trying to enforce more control on law abiding people.

The Illinois State Supreme Court found a strict assault weapons ban passed after the Highland Park shooting to be constitutional in a ruling issued Friday.

The ruling came in response to a lawsuit that claimed that the ban violated the equal protections clause of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The court reversed a lower court finding and said that the law does not violate the equal protections clause. However, the Supreme Court did not comment on claims that the law also violated the Second Amendment.

In the ruling, which was 4-3, Justice Elizabeth Rochford wrote, “First, we hold that the exemptions neither deny equal protection nor constitute special legislation because plaintiffs have not sufficiently alleged that they are similarly situated to and treated differently from the exempt classes. Second, plaintiffs expressly waived in the circuit court any independent claim that the restrictions impermissibly infringe the second amendment. Third, plaintiffs’ failure to cross-appeal is a jurisdictional bar to renewing their three-readings claim.”

Of course, the left is overjoyed about this.

The Lenovo Tab P has a high performance ceiling thanks to the option of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 octa-core CPU processor found inside the Lenovo Tab P12 Pro. In comparison, the most powerful Tab M tablet available on Lenovo’s website right now is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 Octa-core which isn’t quite as powerful. 

The Tab P series also has access to even better features, such as OLED panels, larger screens and enhanced speakers. This makes it easier to use the tablet as a laptop replacement, although the attachable Bluetooth keyboard is generally sold as an optional extra and so probably won’t be included in the box.

For comparison, the priciest Lenovo Tab M tablet on the market at the time of writing is the Lenovo Tab M10 5G, which is half the cost at just $314/£349.01.

It is possible to find a Lenovo Tab M even cheaper than this, but you’ll likely have to settle for a pre-owned or refurbished model – or an older model that’s seen a price cut in the sales.

Investigative reporter and Just the News founder John Solomon on Friday previewed documents he has obtained that may undercut Joe Biden’s story that he was following U.S. government policy when as vice president he blackmailed Ukraine by threatening to withhold a billion dollars in aid if they did not fire Viktor Shokin, the prosecutor investigating Burisma, the Ukrainian energy firm on whose board his son Hunter Biden sat on and was being paid over $80,000 a month despite having no knowledge of Ukraine or the energy business.

Solomon made the comments on Real America News Friday morning morning and again at night on Hannity on the Fox News Channel. Hannity described the documents as a “smoking gun”.

“Here is the last piece. I think Republicans have to show that Joe Biden took some action. He himself took some action to change U.S. policy or affect U.S. policy at the request of, or to the benefit of Joe, of Hunter Biden’s client.

And I’ll tell you where I think this is going to show up. We’re going to go right back to where we this started this whole scandal back in March 2019 when I wrote the first story about the videotape of Joe Biden saying, ‘I threatened to take a billion dollars away from Ukraine and son-of-a-b they fired the prosecutor I wanted fired.’

Well, for the last four years we’ve been told time and again that decision was official U.S. policy. Joe Biden didn’t change policy, he was just carrying it out, so the fact that it impacted his son’s company–no big deal.

I think that story’s going to fall apart in the next couple weeks. Stay tuned, we’ve got some new documents we’ve obtained through litigation and though sources, uh, gonna put a whole new spin. If Joe Biden changed the policy for his son, meaning he went against the U.S. government’s recommendations, did something different than what the government expected him to do, that I think escalates
this into something much bigger.

The proximity becomes actual action by Joe Biden. That’s what I’d be watching.”

Fancy a Windows laptop that costs less than $600? Then the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 is our top recommendation. This is the company’s dinky laptop, with a small 12-inch screen which makes it an absolute doddle to use on the go and carry around in a bag.

Microsoft hasn’t introduced many major upgrades for this second iteration, but the new Intel processor does at least provide a nice performance and battery boost. Our benchmark results show that you will get far speedier laptops by spending a few hundred quid more, but we still found the Surface Laptop Go 2 to be comfortably speedy enough for basic productivity tasks such as office-based workloads.

It is important to remember it has a compact 12.4-inch touchscreen, which may be a little too small for some. And we found the screen resolution to be underwhelming, so video content won’t look quite as sharp as it will with other laptops. But it’s still colourful and punchy enough for a pleasant viewing experience, and the device’s tiny dimensions make it one of the most portable laptops on the market.

If it’s a versatile 2-in-1 device you’re after, then the Lenovo Chromebook Duet is an excellent option.

That 2-in-1 design means the Chromebook Duet is immensely portable and one of the lightest laptops we’ve ever tested, with a mass of just 450g. This makes it a great choice for people on the go, and those who crave the power of a standard ChromeOS laptop with the convenience of a tablet. The keyboard cover it comes with is therefore detachable, which means if you just want this as a tablet, the Chromebook Duet can definitely work as one.

The 10-inch touchscreen on offer is also great for the price, with some vibrant colours that worked well in testing for a variety of tasks, be it for bingeing episodes of BoJack Horseman, or for a small session of cloud gaming. Darker scenes were a little bit of a challenge for the Chromebook Duet, but for the most part, the panel was definitely usable.

In addition, the eight-core Media-Tek Helio P60T processor offered some speedy real-world performance for basic tasks such as general web browsing. Don’t be fooled by the lower-end benchmark scores with the Chromebook Duet, as they definitely don’t tell the whole story.

Moreover, the battery life is also something to behold, with it lasting a total of 13 hours regular use before dying. This ensures it’s punching way above its price range, even beating off Chromebooks that are several times more expensive.

The Acer Chromebook Spin 513 is one of the very best budget laptop options and certainly represents one of the best Chromebooks out there today.

Its Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c processor breezed through basic work during testing such as web browsing or using Google Docs to write some work up, and there were little signs of slow-down even with a load of tabs open. The fact this is an Arm-based laptop also means it requires less in the way of cooling, and offers excellent thermal performance. There’s even the ability to put in a compatible SIM card to give you 4G connectivity, should you need it.

This is also an immensely light full-size Chromebook, with it tipping the scales at just 1.2kg. This ensured it was portable and easy to carry around during testing. Moreover, its port selection turned out to be pretty good, with no real compromises despite the slim frame. In addition, this is also a convertible laptop, so if you want to flip the screen over and use it as a tablet, then Acer does allow you to do so.

On the point of the screen, the 13-inch panel offers great viewing angles thanks to it being an IPS display. We also found it to offer up some punchy colours thanks to a total 318 nits of brightness, and its Full HD resolution allowed for a good level of detail and clarity, whether we were bingeing shows on Amazon Prime Video or getting on with some work.

The Spin 513 also has an excellent battery life, with it managing to last for just over 13 hours in our battery test, meaning you could even stretch to let the Spin 513 last for nearly two working days, which is brilliant.

If you’re after a really affordable Chromebook that still offers some great features and functionality, then the Acer Chromebook 314 is one of the best out there.

While its dual-core Celeron CPU may sound behind the times, we found it to be perfectly adequate for day-to-day tasks, and offer up some snappy performance in basic tasks. Combined with this, the 4GB of RAM provided enough headroom to open a few programs and Chrome tabs without too much slowdown. The only real issue internally is the 32GB of eMMC storage, which felt a little stingy. If you’re somebody who has a few big files and needs to install a lot of programs, then you may be left with little to no space left.

The battery life of the Chromebook 314 is also suitably fantastic, with it lasting for around thirteen and a half hours before shutting down in our video loop test. This means you should comfortably get a working day’s worth of usage before needing to charge it back up again. And if you’re clever with brightness settings, you may well get two days’ charge here, which is immense.

Of course, with a laptop at this price, some corners will have had to have been cut, and in the case of the Chromebook 314, it comes in the form of its display. A 1366 x 768 resolution causes images to look grainy with some noticeable pixels, and colours can look a little flat. We found this to be noticeable during testing when bingeing shows on Amazon Prime Video and Disney . There’s also no touchscreen here, which may well be a deal breaker for some.

The MSI Modern 15 is a great choice for those on a budget who fancy a large screen.

The Modern 15 features a 15.6 inch LCD screen with narrow bezels to aid in cultivating that modern look. With that being said, the 58% sRGB colour space coverage we measured with our colorimeter means this display is a little weak, and its 270 nits of brightness mean it’s only suitable for indoor use. For the price, the panel here is fine, with a 1080p resolution offering decent detail and a contrast ratio of 1300:1 being more than passable.

The Modern 15 comes with an Intel Core i7-1255U, 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, which offered up a great performance for the money. In this configuration, the laptop clocks in at £729, which stretches the ‘budget’ nature of it a bit, pushing it more into the mid-range territory. But the laptop is available at more affordable prices if you dial down the specs. While the fan speeds may be a little high, MSI offers some great software-based control for keeping the noise low when you need it to be.

The MSI is made entirely of plastic but feels alright for the price. With a soft touch finish, the general frame doesn’t feel cheap at all. The port selection here is decent, with HDMI out and Micro SD, as well as a pair of USB 2.0 ports and a singular USB-C connection. We found the keyboard to feel decent too, with a solid amount of travel and key action that doesn’t feel spongy.

When it comes to battery life, the Modern 15 lasted for only around five and a half hours, with the different power modes only splitting results by a handful of minutes. This makes it a poor performer by comparison to other laptops at this price, which can offer up to eight hours, or more. You’ll be able to get through most of a working day here before you’ll need to reach for a charger, and the Modern 15 uses its own cylindrical port, leaving the USB-C port free for any other cables or drives.

For those after an especially powerful Chromebook, the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 is one of the best budget laptop options.

The internal components of the IdeaPad Flex 5 also provided a stellar performance. The Intel Core i5-10210U processor is more than serviceable for tasks like web browsing, video streaming and general working, and 8GB of RAM means you have a shedload of headroom for opening a load of browser tabs at once if you so need to.

In addition, the battery life is particularly good, with the Flex 5 lasting for around 13 hours before conking out in our video loop test, which puts it among some of the best laptops we’ve tested, regardless of cost. This means the laptop should last you through a working day comfortably before needing to be charged back up again.

The 13.3-inch Full HD panel on the Flex 5 is also a major plus point. It’s also a touchscreen, which we found makes this a very versatile laptop. In actual fact, it’s a better display than some Windows laptops that occupy the same £500 or so price point, including one of our favourite budget laptops, the Surface Laptop Go 2 from Microsoft.

Just watch out for the thin-sounding speakers and plastic trackpad, which we weren’t big fans of. But if you’re after power in a Chromebook at a more affordable price, the Flex 5 is an excellent option.

DEVELOPING: Ammon Bundy Arrested Again – Currently Held at Gem County Jail with a $10,000 Bond (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

Former Idaho gubernatorial candidate, Ammon Bundy, has been arrested again, as reported by KTVB’s anchor and investigator, Morgan Romero, on Saturday night.

“Got this video from a source of Ammon Bundy getting arrested. Was told it occurred at a football fundraiser in Emmett. Bundy’s People’s Rights Network also sent out a blast text. We are working to verify more information,” Romero shared on Twitter.

The Gem County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest, noting that Bundy is currently detained at the Gem County Jail. He is being held on a $10,000 bond, according to Idaho News.

At this time, the specific reasons for Bundy’s arrest remain unclear. There is speculation regarding its connection to a defamation lawsuit by St. Luke’s, but no official confirmation has been provided.

In a new lawsuit, St. Luke’s Health System has accused Ammon Bundy of fraudulently transferring his assets to other people in order to avoid paying damages owed to the hospital following the anti-government activist’s jury trial.

Bundy and his associate, Diego Rodriguez, were ordered by a jury to pay over $52 million in damages to the hospital and doctors due to a days-long protest over a child protective services case outside the St. Luke’s Boise and Meridian locations in March of 2022.

In the lawsuit filed Friday in Gem County, St. Luke’s attorneys claim Bundy’s estate in Emmett is worth more than $1 million. After finding out he may have to pay damages to the hospital, he allegedly transferred the title of his Emmett property for $250,000 to his friend, former campaign manager and owner of White Barn Enterprises LLC, Aaron Welling. Welling’s LLC and Bundy’s wife are both listed as defendants in the lawsuit, along with Bundy’s organization, the People’s Rights Network.
