NYC Dept. of Education Tech Boss Resigns After 45K Confidential Student and Staff Records Hacked | The Gateway Pundit

Anuraag Sharma, NYC’s Department of Education chief technology officer, was in charge of the information of thousands of students and staffers in the city.

After another hack to the sensitive data in June, which included exposure of social security numbers, dates of birth, employee IDs and OSIS numbers, a number given to all students who attend a city public school, Sharma resigned from the role he has held since 2019.

The New York Post reports:

Overall,19,000 documents were accessed from the file transfer system MOVEIt, and 9,000 social security numbers were stolen, the DOE said in a letter sent to staff.

Last year, the personal data of 820,000 current and former city students was compromised in a hack.

One insider said Sharma was well regarded — and insisted the departure was voluntary and unrelated to the recent data breach.

At the time of the most recent breach, Nathaniel Styer, spokesperson for the city DOE, said in a statement, “We recently learned of a security vulnerability in a third-party file-sharing software, MOVEit, which has impacted both private and government customers globally,. Working with NYC Cyber Command, we immediately took steps to remediate, and an internal investigation revealed that certain DOE files were affected.”

Devon Archer’s Legal Counsel Responds to DOJ Intimidation – Will Attend Monday’s Hearing as Planned | The Gateway Pundit

In response to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York’s weekend request for Devon Archer to report to prison and the DOJ’s intimidation, Archer’s legal counsel clarified speculations.

On Saturday, the Attorney’s Office asked trial Judge Ronnie Abrams to schedule a date for Archer’s reporting following a decision by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals to uphold his one-year sentence.

Archer was found guilty of two felony charges in his involvement in a scheme to defraud the Wakpamni Lake Community Corporation of the Oglala Sioux Tribe.

The Gateway Pundit reported earlier Sunday that the letter requested that the court set a date and time for Archer to report to a facility chosen by the Bureau of Prisons.

Assistant U.S. attorney Negar Tekeei revealed in a one-page letter that the prosecutors had previously asked Matthew Schwartz, Archer’s attorney, to propose a reporting date, given the Second Circuit ruling.

Schwartz, however, dismissed this as “premature,” indicating that Archer was contemplating additional appeals and had concerns about an “error” in the sentencing process. He has committed to responding to the U.S. attorney’s request by Wednesday.

Despite this opposition, the DOJ continues to push for Archer’s surrender date to be set, as stated in the letter, “The Government disagrees with counsel’s position that a report date should not be set, and respectfully requests permission to respond to any arguments made by the defendant.”

However, the court is not expected to make a decision before the scheduled meeting with the House Oversight Committee, and Matthew Schwartz has confirmed that Archer will proceed with his planned appearance on Monday.

Archer’s position, according to Schwartz, is that the timing of the DOJ’s request and his meeting with the Committee are unrelated.

In a strong statement, Schwartz put a lid on speculations surrounding the DOJ’s request.

“We are aware of speculation that the Department of Justice’s weekend request to have Mr. Archer report to prison is an attempt by the Biden administration to intimidate him in advance of his meeting with the House Oversight Committee on Monday,” Schwartz said in a statement.

“To be clear, Mr. Archer does not agree with that speculation. In any case, Mr. Archer will do what he has planned to do all along, which is to show up on Monday and to honestly answer the questions that are put to him by the Congressional investigators.”

New York City Hires COVID Company in $432 Million No-Bid Contract to Ship Illegal Aliens Out of the City | The Gateway Pundit

Back in May New York City Mayor Eric Adams claimed the illegal alien crisis was so bad that 50% of the hotel rooms were occupied by illegal aliens.

Over seven million illegal aliens entered the US through its open borders under Joe Biden. And, over 90,000 illegal aliens have been shipped to New York City during the crisis.
New York City is a sanctuary city.

Lee Bienstock, President of DocGo

On Sunday The New York Times reported that New York City officials hired DocGo in a $432 no-bid contract to ship hundreds of illegal aliens out of the city. DocGo, formerly Ambulnz is an eight-year-old company founded in 2015.

Already it has landed a $432 contract with New York City! Today the company reportedly holds a value of around $1 billion.

DocGo owner is 40-year-old Lee Bienstock who was once fired by Donald Trump on “The Apprentice.”

And now New York City officials will not provide the DocGo contract to The Times and will not answer questions about its migrant moving contract with the company.

Via The New York Times.

Nearly three months after Mayor Eric Adams ushered in a new policy calling for the city to relocate migrants outside the five boroughs, the program has been plagued by problems, drawing attention to the no-bid contractor leading the effort.

More than 1,500 migrants have been sent to places as far as Buffalo, with more on the way. But many of the migrants have been greeted by protests at their new homes, as well as mistreatment and the false hope of jobs.

Behind the broken promises is a medical services company, DocGo, that once contracted with the city to provide Covid testing and vaccination services, but pivoted to migrant care as the pandemic waned and a new crisis emerged.

The city awarded DocGo a $432 million contract, which took effect in early May, without subjecting it to competitive bidding. The contract called for DocGo to house migrants and provide them with services including case management, medical care, food, transportation, lodging and round-the-clock security…

We will post updates as we learn more.

CNN Contributor Shocks Panel: ‘Not GOP’s Fault Hunter Biden is a Scumbag’ (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

CNN contributor and Republican strategist Scott Jennings shocked the panel on Sunday after he called Hunter Biden a scumbag.

CNN’s “State of the Union” panel discussed Hunter Biden’s lovechild Navy Joan and Joe Biden’s decision to finally acknowledge his 7th grandchild.

Of course, CNN contributor and Democrat strategist Michael LaRosa blamed the GOP for playing politics and making the Bidens look bad.

“It’s not Republicans, with all due respect who made Hunter Biden into a complete scumbag on this and other issues. The ignoring his own daughter, for four years! And the president of the United States hanging up a stocking for the dog?” Scott Jennings said on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday.

CNN host Kasie Hunt stepped in and shamelessly defended Hunter Biden.

Joe Biden finally acknowledged his granddaughter Navy Joan Roberts.

Biden released a statement on the grandchild he disowned after major backlash.

This is a political move.

Joe Biden has purposely ignored this beautiful child for more than 4 years.

Joe and Jill Biden are monsters.

The Bidens have not only publicly snubbed their granddaughter, but White House aides are also privately being told Biden has six, not seven, grandchildren.

Hunter Biden has a 4-year-old daughter, Navy Joan, with former DC stripper Lunden Roberts.

For years Joe Biden refused to acknowledge Hunter Biden’s lovechild with Roberts.

Navy Joan will turn 5 in August.

For the past two years Jill and Joe Biden have snubbed Navy Joan during Christmastime by not hanging a stocking for her at the White House.

The Bidens celebrated their other six grandchildren and even added stockings for their two pets – a dog and a cat!

Stockings hung in 2021 over the fireplace mantle in the State Dining Room for only six Biden grandchildren

Joe Biden finally acknowledged Navy Joan in a carefully crafted statement (likely written by lawyer) to People Magazine.

Scott Jennings is right. It’s not the GOP’s fault Hunter Biden is a complete scumbag.

When Did She Die? Coroners Trying to Piece Together Timeline for Sinéad O’Connor’s Death | The Gateway Pundit

The coroner has yet to determine a time of death for the Grammy-winning singer Sinead O’Connor, according to reports.

O’Connor’s family confirmed last week that she’d died in her apartment in London, The Associated Press reported.

A representative with the London Inner South Coroner’s Court told U.K.’s Daily Mail the “date of death is unknown,” and investigators are trying to put together a timeline of events.

O’Connor was found in her home Wednesday after police were sent to perform a wellness check.

No cause of death has been released as an autopsy will be conducted. The outlet reported it could take “several weeks” for results.

O’Connor’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

The 56-year-old’s family released a statement to The Irish Times regarding the singer.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinead,” the statement read. “Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”

Born Sinead Marie Bernadette O’ Connor on December 8th 1966 in Dublin, Ireland, this Artist Released 10 Albums and Sold Over 11 Million Copies Since 1987.

The “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer had recently moved to London, the Daily Mail reported.

One neighbor told the outlet that he’d seen O’Connor roughly two weeks before her passing and she “seemed happy.”

Another resident stated, “She would talk to the locals and people knew who she was, but I don’t think she had lived here very long.”

In 2022, O’Connor lost her son Shane to suicide. Just days before her death, she posted a now-deleted tweet discussing her grief, according to People.

“Been living as undead night creature since,” she wrote. “He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul. We were one soul in two halves.

“He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him.” (The term “bardo” refers to a Tibetan Buddhist concept of reincarnation and describes the period between death and rebirth.)

While presumedly moving into the same London apartment earlier this month, the singer said in a video that losing a child “isn’t good for one’s body, or soul to be fair.”

O’Connor previously described her son as “the very light of my life” and hoped “he rest[s] in peace and may no one follow his example.”

Owner Fights for Compensation After SWAT Team Destroyed His Business | The Gateway Pundit

Guest by post by Bob Unruh

This article originally appeared on WND.com

Cops were pursuing fugitive, but blew up printing company without catching suspect.

The Institute for Justice has begun working with the owner of a small business in North Hollywood that was blown up – destroyed – by SWAT officers in pursuit of a fugitive.

And after the print shop was destroyed, the suspect got away anyway.

The IJ reports the fight has erupted because the city of Los Angeles, whose officers destroyed Carlos Pena’s NoHo Printing and Graphics store, has refused to provide any compensation.

The catastrophe developed last year when an armed fugitive fleeing U.S. marshals threw Pena out of his store and then ran in to hide out.

“The marshals then initiated a standoff before a SWAT team from the Los Angeles Police Department arrived and fired more than 30 rounds of teargas into the business. Carlos—who waited in a nearby restaurant for 13 hours as his 31-year-old business was being destroyed—estimates that the raid caused more than $60,000 in damage,” the IJ said.

His insurance carrier refused compensation because “the government” caused the massive loss.

U.S. marshals also refused, because the damage was done by the LA officers.

The city also refused.

“I couldn’t believe it when I was told that I wouldn’t be paid for the damage. The business I had worked so hard to build was completely destroyed and I was left with the bill, even though I did nothing wrong,” he said.

The damage included holes in the doors, windows and ceiling, the destruction of all the machinery in the shop, and more.

Oaklanders Shout at Embattled Soros-Backed Alameda County DA Pamela Price Over Surge in Crime (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

Frustrated Oaklanders lashed out at embattled Alameda County DA Pamela Price over a surge in crime.

Pamela Price, the Soros-backed District Attorney in Alameda County, California, is currently facing a recall after being in office for just six months.

Price faced intense backlash after she opted to remove a special circumstances charge from a case involving gang members who murdered toddler Jasper Wu.

Home invasion robberies and violent crime are up nearly 10% over the past year because of Pamela Price’s soft-on-crime policies.

Oakland residents packed the house at a public safety meeting on Thursday to air their grievances over the surge in crime.

Pamela Price remained defiant at the meeting.

“All counties across the state have been asked to decriminalize young people, and so our county has adopted that as a policy,” Pamela Price told the attendees.

The attendees shouted at Pamela Price: “I just want to say that there must be consequences! It’s unreal that there are no consequences for these children!”

Pamela Price pushed back and said her progressive policies of allowing juveniles to commit crimes without fear of reprisal will give young people hope.

Adam Schiff Warns Kevin McCarthy On Biden Impeachment

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) warned Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) that if he opens an impeachment inquiry into Biden, he might not be able to stop it.

Schiff said on MSNBC:

For a long time, it didn’t appear clear that they even knew who they wanted to impeach. Did they want to peach Marcus, or Garland, or maybe Joe Biden, or maybe somebody else. They seem to be an impeachment inquiry and search of a subject, and certainly in search of evidence.

What concerns me is I think McCrthy may open an impeachment inquiry because he thinks that he will lead off the steam of the craziest in the conference. By doing that, he will set a train emotion that he may not be able to stop. Of course, McCarthy isn’t thinking ahead. He’s thinking how do I keep my speakership for another day, maybe another week. He’s not thinking about what he’s doing to the country with these kinds of phony investigators and potential abuse of the impeachment power.

Video:

If anyone knows firsthand about Kevin McCarthy’s willingness to abuse the power of the House majority for bogus partisan purposes, it is Rep. Schiff who was the subject of a bogus censure resolution.

Speaker McCarthy doesn’t seem to care about the can of worms that he is opening up with Biden impeachment. Trump and his MAGA flying monkeys in the House are not going to be satisfied with an impeachment inquiry. They want Biden impeached. If President Biden is not impeached, the MAGAs will replace Kevin McCarthy with a speaker who will make impeachment happen.

McCarthy is an empty suit. He will do whatever Trump and MAGA want, but he is being warned by Rep. Schiff and others that playing with impeachment could lead to unintended consequences.

Not All Emotional Eating Is Bad, Says This RD

If you’ve ever identified as an “emotional eater,” you’ve likely been led to believe that emotional eating is a bad thing. After all, diet culture tells us that we should only ever eat when we’re hungry, which must make eating to deal with emotions a no-no, right That couldn’t be further from the truth. Not all emotional eating is bad; it’s actually very normal.

While diet culture tries to convince us that food is nothing more than fuel, that simply isn’t the case for most people. Food does so much more than provide the body with energy and nutrients. It’s pleasure, community, connection, and yes, comfort.

I’m not saying that food should be your only coping mechanism when you’re feeling difficult emotions. Using food to numb yourself to what you’re feeling isn’t a great way to deal with things (but let’s be real—avoiding emotions through any coping mechanism isn’t healthy). But just because we shouldn’t eat to “numb out” doesn’t mean change the fact that not all emotional eating is bad. Emotional eating is a valid and accessible coping tool, and it’s time we stopped demonizing it.

Emotional eating exists on a continuum

If we use the intuitive eating framework to conceptualize emotional eating, we see that emotional eating exists on a continuum, explains Lindsay Martens, RD, a registered dietitian with Proactive Health Nutrition. She explains that at one end of the continuum, we have eating for sensory gratification. This is the mildest form of emotional eating and occurs when we eat simply for pleasure. As we move along the continuum, the type of emotional eating a person engages in becomes more of an unhelpful coping mechanism. Further along, we get to comfort eating. This type of emotional eating occurs when we eat to soothe emotions like sadness, anxiety, or stress, according to Martens. With comfort eating, we may crave foods that remind us of our childhood or have sentimental value (like chicken noodle soup or mac and cheese).

Related Stories

In the middle of the continuum, we have eating as a distraction. This kind of emotional eating occurs when we eat to distract ourselves from difficult emotions or stressful situations. It is often mindless in nature.

Next on the continuum, we have sedation eating, says Martens. This occurs when we use food to numb our emotions or escape reality. It often involves binge eating or consuming large amounts of food (often high in sugar and fat) to take the edge off temporarily.

Finally, we have punishment eating at the more intense end of the emotional eating continuum. This happens when we use food to punish ourselves for what we see as shortcomings or failures, explains Martens. It often occurs in tandem with restricting our food intake or following extreme diets.

When we look at emotional eating as a continuum, it becomes easier to see that at the mild end of the continuum, emotional eating can still be part of a positive relationship with food. After all, how many people can say they never eat for reasons other than hunger?

“Emotional eating is a universal coping skill and helps provide satisfaction from eating,” explains Martens. “When we consider it a bad thing, we create shame/blame/guilt around a tool that someone has been using to help cope with their feelings.” She adds that when we consider emotional eating to be bad, we also close the doors to open, vulnerable conversations.

You haven’t done anything wrong if you use food to cope with difficult emotions. Comfort eating is normal and natural, and it’s only when we eat to numb or punish ourselves that emotional eating becomes less helpful. Plus, emotional eating involves more than just food and emotions—it’s also closely tied to dieting and diet culture.

Emotional eating and diet culture

Much of the reason that people see emotional eating as a bad thing is due to the types of foods that people typically crave when they’re feeling stressed or sad. A cookie can make us feel better when experiencing strong emotions, but if we view a cookie as a “bad food,” we may feel extreme guilt and even more negative emotions.

Martens sees this often in her practice. “The other way diet culture is tied to emotional eating is often the foods we associate with comfort or satisfaction are foods that diet culture deems as “unhealthy,” she says. “This can create complicated feelings. So many memories and big life moments are linked to food, that again, diet culture assigns as ‘bad,’” she adds. This can complicate our relationship with food even more.

The key to seeing emotional eating as a neutral behavior is to remove the “good food/bad food” binary that diet culture assigns.

For example, imagine that you’re missing a loved one and decide to eat a special meal or snack that reminds you of them and provides comfort. This can become messy if you’re feeling out of control or shame just because you’re eating a food that diet culture doesn’t condone, explains Martens. While we engage in emotional eating to make ourselves feel better, if we feel guilt for what we choose to eat, we take away the power of that food to comfort us.

The key to seeing emotional eating as a neutral behavior is to remove the “good food/bad food” binary that diet culture assigns. If we view food as morally neutral, we’re less likely to feel guilt for eating highly palatable foods to cope with difficult emotions.

Because of its connection to diet culture, “emotional eating can feel like a very vulnerable space for a lot of us, and we’ve been conditioned to see it as an undesirable behavior,” says Martens. “If you have specific macro/calorie targets, you may view emotional eating as self-sabotage, especially when it results in out-of-control binges.”

But those out-of-control binges may not actually be driven by emotion. “The tricky thing here is that some of the reasons out-of-control binges can happen are from ignoring hunger cues,” explains Martens. In other cases, out-of-control binges are truly related to emotions. “It can be hard to distinguish between the two when you are restricting your intake. Diet culture has taken this opportunity to say that the reason you experience these out-of-control binges is emotional eating and that this is the reason you aren’t meeting your goals,” she adds. But that may not be the case.

Simply calling a binge “emotional eating” when you’re actively restricting your food intake ignores what we know about food deprivation and the reward centers of our brains. A study looking at brain activity found that when study participants followed a calorie-restricted diet, the brain regions responsible for attention, reward, and motivation increased in response to images of highly palatable food. The longer the participants were on a calorie-restricted diet, the greater the activation of these brain regions.

In other words? Calorie restriction (i.e., dieting) causes us to crave highly palatable foods. If you’ve been restricting foods, there’s a good chance that what you’ve labelled as “emotional eating” could actually be biological hunger.

Is it possible to stop emotional eating?

It would be virtually impossible to stop all forms of emotional eating. But that’s okay—we’ve established that not all eating is bad, such as for comfort and pleasure, which are completely normal. This type of emotional eating doesn’t need to be stopped, especially if it’s one of many tools we use to cope with stress.

However, when food becomes our only way to cope with uncomfortable feelings or if we’re using it to “numb out,” it could indicate that a person needs to develop other coping tools, says Martens. This is because if we’re constantly at the sedation or punishment-eating end of the emotional eating continuum, it could lead to a loss of self-esteem, self-hatred, and detachment from life.

Martens recommends identifying your emotions and emotional triggers and exploring if you can do anything to prevent or diminish how activating they are. She also suggests practicing other coping skills when possible.

Some other coping tools to help manage difficult emotions include meditation, mindfulness practices, listening to music, talking with a friend, reading a good book, or walking. Regardless of what type of coping tool you choose, it’s important to have several coping strategies you can turn to in difficult times.

Another way to reduce using emotional eating to numb your emotions is to pause when you realize that you’re emotionally eating, says Martens. “When you become aware of emotional eating…try to process your feelings for a few minutes without committing to stopping the emotional eating coping skill,” she explains. If sitting with your feelings feels too overwhelming, it’s best to work through this process with a trained mental health professional.

Once you’ve tried to process your feelings, reassess whether you still need to engage in emotional eating. If you do feel like you need to eat emotionally, try to do so mindfully. This will increase the enjoyment you get from eating and the likelihood that it will make you feel better. The key is that emotional eating can be a conscious choice rather than a knee-jerk reaction to stress. It can be a healthy part of your coping toolbox if you’re actively choosing to allow food to make you feel better.

Martens also recommends cultivating your “nurturer” voice. Within the intuitive eating framework, there are inner voices that can both help and hinder our efforts to eat intuitively. “The Nurturer” is the self-compassionate voice that tells us it’s okay to mess up or feel bad. By allowing our “nurturer” voice to lead our inner dialogue, we can become more accepting of emotional eating as a neutral coping mechanism that serves a valuable purpose in certain situations.

Final thoughts

Diet culture has given emotional eating a bad rap, but the truth is, it’s a very normal way to cope with our feelings and relate to food. Not all emotional eating is bad; it exists on a continuum, and if we’re engaging in emotional eating for comfort or pleasure, it’s not something to worry about.

If you feel like you’re using emotional eating as a crutch or to “numb out,” be gentle with yourself. Remember, emotional eating can be a valid coping tool, but it’s important that you have other coping tools available to you. By sitting with your emotions and ditching the “good” and “bad” food labels, you can neutralize the emotional eating experience, allowing it to be one of the many ways you get comfort in times of stress.
