Some Books Are Harder to Write Than Others
Let me repeat that title for emphasis:
Some books are harder to write than others.
Last night, I finished the revisions on my May 2014 release,The Heart’s Pursuit. Off it went for the next round of editing. Those should arrive back in my mailbox in early to mid October. I will be anxiously awaiting the editor’s opinion of how the book has changed since the last time she saw it.
This particular novel has a rather checkered past. Life has interrupted it. Other books have delayed it. A change of ed...

but i will do as you say, redux
I’ve blogged about this passage before, but it hit me again this morning, so I will risk sounding a repetitive note. Here goes:
When [Jesus] had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.“
Simon answered and said, “Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but I will do as You sayand let down the nets.”
(Luke 5:5)
I want to be like Peter. I want his words to be my automatic response when the Master tells me to do something. Ev...

Simon answered and said, “Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but I will do as You sayand let down the nets.”
(Luke 5:5)
I want to be like Peter. I want his words to be my automatic response when the Master tells me to do something. Even when it doesn’t make any rational sense, I want to answer Him, “I will do as You say.”
It made no sense to Peter to put his n...

juggling the writing, revising, editing, marketing
In a recent interview, I was asked how I balance all of the different stages of a book. How do I keep all those balls I’m juggling in the air at the same time? My answer was something along the lines of “Not very well.”
Of course, sometimes it is easier than others. I don’t always have as many books in varying stages as I have had in August and September of this year. The stress of trying to meet all the different deadlines—writing, revising, line edits, page proofs, marketing forms—on time re...

christian fiction wednesday 09-18-13
After years of writing novels, I’ve been privileged to meet many authors of Christian fiction, and I love to help readers find their work. Although I usually haven’t read the books I share in my Christian Fiction Wednesday posts (too many books, too little time), I like to feature their books to help readers find them. Check out these books and maybe you’ll discover another favorite author or two.

blessed. served. satisfied.
And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food and broke the loaves and He kept giving them to the disciples to set before them; and He divided up the two fish among them all. They all ate and were satisfied
~ Mark 6:41–42 (NASB95)
In these two passages above, I see something important for my life here on earth: Jesus blesses. Disciples serve. People will be satisfied.
We all know that the world serves up a lot of “food” that doesn’t satisfy. Succ...
