Flashback Friday: Tuvix

Continuing my current Star Trek immersion (via my last few Flashback Friday posts), those of you who might have seen that I have recently been re-watching Voyager from the beginning (now nearing the end of season 3). At some point I may review the occasional episode or dissect a character (not literally) but for today I want to impart something that has been playing on my mind.

Tuvix. Not justthe episode, but also the character.

The premise of the character is an interestin...

Miles Morales: The Future of Spider-Man

Of late I have really enjoyed reading the recent copies of Ultimate Spider-Man and also The Ultimates, as well as picking through the back issues and I have come to the conclusion that I want NEED to see a Miles Morales Spider-Man movie!

ULTIMATE!!!!

ULTIMATE!!!!

Along with Superman and Batman, Spider-Man is one of the top hitting comic book heroes of all time, and with that one of Marvel’s biggest properties. But so far the celluloid versions of old web head have been ok,but not up there with the likes of...

Flashback Friday: Remembering your first viewing

This post is not as vague as the title suggests. In fact, I am following on from the current Star Trek remembrance I have going on my blog (recent reviews of Avatar books 1 and 2, and I’m currently working on several other ST themed posts that I’ll be putting up over the coming weeks).

That said, I am going to first mention Star Wars.

A long time ago...

A long time ago…

This post came about from a conversation I had over the weekend with a friend about how he’s excited about watching Star Wars with his son for the...

Flashback Friday: Review – DS9: Avatar Book 2

Deep Space Nine Relaunch – Avatar Book2

Author – S.D. Perry

Published – June 2001

Book 2

Book 2

Following on from my review of Book 1 of Avatar, I have to admit that I enjoyed this volume a lot more. I think I moved passed some of my unconscious prejudices against the new crew, and besides which this book is a lot less miserable. The misery of Book 1, whilst I still feel it was very much over done, leads the way into the glimmer of hope we see in this book, as life on the station begins to improve – eve...

Follow Up: Nope – BonBon Perfume

Following on from my Nope!Post on BonBon Perfume – Debenhams Edition, the lovely people at Debenhams got back to me, and have actually removed the horrible Viktor & Rolf advertising from their window!

Oh look, a naked woman advertising something :O

On emailing them, I immediately recieved an automated acknowledgement email, and within a day someone emailed me back to say it would be forwarded on to Nick Brand, the store manager at Bristol as I had requested. Over the weekend I had a reply from...

Nope! Bon Bon Perfume – Debenhams Edition

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a blog post on how I really dislike the advertising for BonBon Perfumeand , as it was a Nope!Post it also included a letter expressing my opinions to theperpetrators – in this case Viktor & Rolf.

Oh look, a naked woman advertising something :O

Before you go getting your hopes up, no I have not had a response – not even an acknowledgement that my email (marked as a complaint!) was received. I see they obviously care about the opinions oftheir potential market of int...

DS9 relaunch

DS9 relaunch

I originally tried to read this book when it first came out, I’m pretty sure I didn’t finish it, but I remember really hating it. A couple of weeks ago I had a sudden urge to jump in with the relaunch and so wanted to start from the beginning again. I realised I had gone too many years without knowing what became of my favourite crew.

When I was a teenager I loved the Original Series of Star Trek, watchi...

Review: Lois Lane (one shot)

Superman: Lois Lane– One Shot,April 2014
Written byMarguerite Bennett, art byEmanuela Lupacchino,Cover by:Kenneth Rocafort.

I should start off by saying that this isn’t terrible. However, it does feel like a disappointing waste of an opportunity – which appears to be a common thread throughout the New 52, especially where female characters are concerned. The cover promises “Metropolis, Mayhem and Monsters”. A line obviously written by someone wanting to make it seem an action packed thrill-ride...

Marvel Previews

Last week the Hubster and I picked up issue 23 of Marvel Previews to see what lies in wait for us. A bit of a thumb through and I have come across some issues I can’t wait to get my hands on -

Preview time!

Preview time!

Punisher #9 / Black Widow #9

I’ve not been reading Punisher, though I believe the Hubster has been picking up a few issues here and there, but I have been rather enjoying reading Black Widow. I am intrigued by the cross over movie Avengers: Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher that I keep see...

Flashback Friday: Poem – Once Asked: Why Believe in Reincarnation

As mentioned in myrecent poetry post, I’ve never especially been into poetry, but had to do some for a Creative Writing class in 2003/2004. I recently came across some of the poems I wrote as part of the class and though I’d share them here with you as the last couple have been quite popular. Strangely enough, I also had a dream the other day that my deceased cat(Bustopher Jones aka Busty Boo Boo Face) was still alive and his dying wish was to visit France. So I spent the whole dream trying t...
