Review: Vampire Next Door by Angela Snyder

Vampire Next Door

Author – Angela Snyder

Published – Nov 2013

I’ve been making an effort in recent months to read and review books by other Indie and self-pub Authors. From the start of 2015 I’ve decided to review any that I give 3 stars or over on my blog.

As per my previous post on the subject, I am also very interested in swapping honest reviews with other authors, so please get in touch if youd like to swap reviews.

Im very excited that an excerpt of About the Nature of the Creature has been included in the upcoming Bristol Story Trail that begins on 17th February. I hope everyone in Bristol gets the chance to take part in the trail and read at least some if not all of the contributions of Bristol based stories.

TheStory Trailcreates a fun and exciting exploration of Bristol by following a series of sho...

Book Giveaway: New Year Resolution to read more!

Originally posted on creature/krCHr/Noun - An animal, as distinct from a human being:

Following on from my post about indie authors reviewing each other, I totally intend to read more indie novels in 2015, and Im really excited about this. I read some very good ones last year especially After the Fear and Rogue Genesis and look forward to finding more gems!

I also want to encourage others to read this year and so far have taken part in one giveaway of my novel as part of a...

Short Story: Merry Krampus

This story is in part inspired by my friend and burlesque performer and MUAAlly Katte‘s Christmas routine – Krampus. The belowpictures of Ally performing the act were taken by the amazing Tony Barrett Powell

Little Jimmy (for it is inevitably a Little Jimmy in stories such as this, and we can assume that this is the definitive Little Jimmy), had started the evening fast asleep. The evening in question, being Christmas Eve, this was not unus...

Short Story: The Journey to a New Year Resolution

On the Sixth Day of Christmas… one of those meals that you are obliged to go to in the festive season. A season I normally love but at every turn this year I seem to be bah humbugged. And this was the start. We were herded in for tepid soups and limp turkey. Separated onto a series of canteen plastic tables I was wedged onto an interesting table for exactly the wrong reasons. A white man, a recent immigrant, a wheelchair user and a pregnant woman. It took me a full ten minutes of political ag...

Indie Authors: Reviewing and being Reviewed

Originally posted on crea•ture/ˈkrēCHər/Noun - An animal, as distinct from a human being:

You’ve written it, it’s on sale, and now you await the reviews. And then you wait. And wait.

For me, getting reviews has been a steep learning curve. After not having the marketing in place that I had hoped when I first published About the Nature of the Creature, and pretty much not knowing what I was doing in terms of being my own publisher – getting reviews has been a bit of a mission.

Flashback Friday: Top Five Favourites The Dark Crystal

As an 80s child, The Dark Crystal is firmly one of my childhood favourites, that to this day I still love. Dont get me wrong, there are aspects that made me cringe even as a child most of the Gelfling dialogue and the bloody awful sounds Kira makes when talking to animals are just terrible. Nevertheless it is a beautiful and emotional movie – to quote Jim Henson, its more than just a movie, its a work of art. Here are my five favourites…
