Love lost . . .

[image error]

Dmitri saw the pain his brother, Nemamiah, was in. Nemamiah and Hameal were lovers since The Great Pyramids were built.
He thought, Love knows no race, sex, or boundaries . . .  it was just love.
As Dmitri’s heart was breaking for Nemamiah, he put his hand on his shoulder and counseled in a gentle voice, “When you are ready, Nemamiah, all has been prepared. Take as long as you need, Brother.”
sadness-and-fear_2471364Tabbrius and Dmitri stood far away to allow Nemamiah time to grieve over Hameal. He was growling and crying out to God while clutching Hameal close to his body.
“Dmitri, in all the millennia I have been on Earth, I have never loved.” Tabbrius admitted with his head hung low with shyness.
“You have never loved?” Dmitri was a little taken by surprise and raised his eyebrows.
Tabbrius kicked at the dirt and nervously whispered. “I have never had the desire to, Dmitri. I do not think I ever will.”
“Oh my . . . well, do not fret, Brother. God will bring you a mate in His time, and when He does . . . it shall be forever.” Dmitri smiled at the Heavens filled with bright stars. He thought about his love, Hera, and the first time he saw her beautiful face. She was his destiny, and Dmitri knew it the moment, he laid his eyes upon Hera.
1308801-bigthumbnail1Nemamiah stood up and took Hameal’s dead body over to the makeshift altar. He gently laid him on the funeral pyre.
Dmitri got Nemamiah’s okay and sparked the wood.
As the fire was burning Hameal’s body. Nemamiah turned away. Trembling with loss and sadness, he cried “My heart, my love, my Hameal is gone. I cannot bear it . . . ”
Dmitri hugged him tightly. “Nemamiah, my heart knows yours is broken, because I have been where you are now. The Elder Council killed my wife, son and daughter. I know well . . .  your pain.” He sighed heavily because his heart was breaking just like the night when they were savagely murdered.
vader_pyreThen, with resolve, Nemamiah turned to the fire, crossed his arms across his chest, and announced, “My name is now . . . Neal.”
“Why?” Dmitri asked softly as he wiped tears from his eyes.
“Neal is the first two letters in my name, and the last two letters of Hameal’s name.” As tears flowed in channels down his face he declared, “Nemamiah is in the fire lying next to his lover Hameal, dead.”

My heart broke as I wrote this passage in my book.
This song gave me comfort when I needed it as a child.
And it still does today . . .
Because it’s how we choose to remember loss which makes it
hard to cope
or
hopeful for the future.
Lots of love, Emily

Excerpt “The Race”
“So, seven laps. Starting at the south entrance.”
Gwen nodded, and they skated toward the south gate.
They were about to start, but a voice interrupted, “You boys ain’t playin’.” Morgan glared at Gwen. “This little brat is mine.”
Gwen’s chin was raised, an arrogance in her stance. She was extremely angry and wearing her tough girl face. She had not forgiven him for their fight earlier, and as stubborn as she was, it would take more than beating her in a race to get back in her good graces.
Black Kat 1“So, what’s the wager?” Morgan turned to Nate.
“A New Year’s kiss.” Gwen’s answer was snarky. “And if you lose, no Augusta State. You stay with the Kats next year.”
“You have to beat him, Gwen!” Nate shouted playfully. “He can’t abandon his Kats!”
“You know you’re gonna lose,” Gwen cooed in a husky voice. “I’ve beaten you before.”
“Like, when we were ten. And you cheated, anyway. You always cheat. So…when I win…” Morgan’s mood suddenly turned upbeat as he pointed to her. “I get those panties.” With his words, the boys all started laughing.
chama26Gwen’s draw dropped, and she stared at Morgan blankly. After taking a few seconds to recover her angry face, she grinded her steel toe into the ice in annoyance. Her long, black and red laces bounced as she spoke through gritted teeth, “Fine.” She spun sharply.
“Ten laps. No handicaps.”
Gwen shook her head, confusion in her eyes. “What?”
“Means I’ll check your hot, little ass if I catch up to you.” Morgan’s eyes narrowed. “Porky.”
“No way, Morgan. Checking is not allowed in a race.”
“It is in this one.” A devilish grin filled his lips as he raised his eyebrows.
“You’re bigger than me.” Gwen put her hands on her hips, shaking them to the left in frustration. “That is not fair.”
“So, you’re forfeiting?” Morgan punched his open palm, an excited look in his eyes.
“Well…” Gwen stumbled over her words. “No, but—”
“Awesome.” He reached over and tapped her shoulder. “Let’s race, Roberts.”
Holding up a fist, she glared at her adversary. “I’m gonna kick your ass, Tanner.”
Black Kat 3“I look forward to it.” He reached back and slapped her butt. Gwen retaliated, slapping at his shoulders.
“This race is gonna be awesome,” Nate whispered to Kingley, but Kingley wasn’t really laughing. Nate’s voice then rose, “So, who’s gonna judge it?”
Sam held up his hand. “I’ll do it.”
“You’re here, too?” Gwen glanced at her brother. She wanted to beat him as much as she did Morgan. Her eyes jumped to the sidelines, where Jenny and Anne were cheering her on.
“Yep,” Sam answered cheekily.
Gwen rolled her eyes then turned and readied herself to start. “Let’s just start already.”
Morgan stood next to her, whispering in her ear, “You’re gonna get your ass Tanned.” He stuck his tongue out at her playfully.
Gwen slapped him.
“On five!” Sam’s voice was loud as he raised his hand. He then started counting down.
Gwen’s breath was quick, her jaw stiff. Morgan, on the other hand, was pretty calm.
As soon as Sam yelled, “go,” Gwen took off. Morgan let her ahead for a lap, Gwen gathering more speed by the second. Thinking she was winning, Gwen smiled and glanced back. Her eyes widened when she saw Morgan barreling toward her.
Morgan shouted, “Check!” as he slammed her into the barrier. And it wasn’t a soft action, either. This was a competition, and he seemed determined to win it. Gwen tripped, but caught herself before she fell to the ice.
Morgan spun, skating backward a few lengths as he sent her a wicked grin. Gwen quickly regained her footing and took after him. Every time she tried to pass him, he’d shove her over a foot or two. Then, she started shoving back, but he barely budged.
Morgan was laughing hysterically, and even in plain clothes, he towered over the slender figure skater. Their speed slowed, and the race got heated. Gwen’s face was stressed as she tried to knock him over, her hands repeatedly pushing into him.
Ice-Skating-Stop“Move…you big…” She was speaking through gritted teeth, each failed attempt fueling her anger. “Ice prick!”
“Last lap!” Sam shouted.
Slamming into her, Morgan hooked her foot slightly and tripped her. Gwen fell to the ice and winced. It was cold against her bottom, but the sting only made her anger grow hotter. She sprang to her feet and came up on him from the rear. She shoved him from behind, but he didn’t fall, just stumbled a bit. They pushed each other the whole way to the home stretch.
About two feet from the finish line, Morgan shoved her hard, and she fell to the ice again. With an agape expression, Gwen watched him finish. She didn’t get up, her eyes narrowing on his form. He was laughing and pointing at her, which only made her scowl deepen.
“That was not fair!” Gwen kicked her feet, letting out a little whine as she balled her fists.
“Stop being a sore loser.” Morgan held out his hand and helped her up. The back of her skirt was wet, her stockings now speckled a brownish color. Leaning forward, he whispered in her ear, “I win, Porky.”
He watched her skate away angrily. “Gwenie!” There was an upbeat tone to his voice, though he was upset. “What about my prize?”
With a quick turn, she stopped and glared at him from several feet away. Reaching under her skirt, she shimmied down the boy shorts covering her panties then awkwardly pulled them over her skates. She then threw them on the ice. “I hate you, Morgan Tanner!” She skated away.

Ghostly Visitations and Southern Destinations : A Parson Slang Adventure (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GUS3K58)

While he was sitting there debating, the piece of paper decided to make the decision for him.  The little bow untied and fell away as the map started to unroll.  It spread out forward and to the sides, pushing objects off the coffee table as it opened.  When it was done, its perfect rectangle shape was lying there in front of Parson, all for him to see.  On this map was an image of the good old U S of A, Central America, and South America.  No other place in the world was shown, just those three areas in their current shape and size.

Parson noticed that this particular piece of paper seemed alive, like it was breathing, rising and lowering as it lay there with a steady rhythmic beat.  The latitudes and longitudes running across it…

Injudicious prejudice . . .

Almost before I could walk, my Mother taught me I wasn’t better than anyone else, period. As I wrote this passage, I could remember the newscaster saying Martin Luther King had died, Pope John was shot, or Nelson Mandela was still imprisoned. Injudicious prejudice. However, I wanted The Light-Bearer Series to reflect my mother’s philosophy . . . respect others like yourself.
Lots of love, Emily
~~~~~~~~
david-gandy-15.jpg1The Elder Temple Guards brought in a beautiful young man whose light and life radiated throughout the stone building. The man’s hands were tied behind his back, his face was distorted from beatings and his neck had been ripped open by a Blood-Hunter’s fangs.
Tabbruis wanted to instantly help the man.
Dmitri gripped his arm firmly whispering very softly as others around them could not hear, “You cannot help this man, to do so would mean your death too.”
“Who or what is this man? He gives off a light like the sun. Is he a Light-Bearer?”
“Yes.”
Tabbruis felt empathy for the condemned Light-Bearer and became angry.
“Light-Bearers are our opposites. Their mission from God is to eradicate us as our mission from the Elder Council is to eradicate them. The Elders believe the Earth is ours and not to be shared. You know and understand I do not share their beliefs, Tabbruis.”
“I do not either. The Earth can be shared as long as we let the humans live in peace. But Dmitri, we should help the Light-Bearer escape.”
“Hold on and think . . . we would condemn ourselves at the first step we take to the Altar of Judgment. There is a Prophecy the Elder Council will come to justice.” Dmitri exhaled and looked very angry.
john_abraham-27“Listen, Tabbruis, if I would have known of this man’s captivity beforehand, we could have covertly helped him escape without revealing our identities. Over the years I have helped many prisoners escape. Even though my heart breaks for this Light-Bearer, we cannot save him. Once they know of our covert treachery, we will surely die. If we are dead, how will the next condemned Light-Bearer or Blood-Hunter escape?”
Tabbruis felt disgust and hatred towards the Elder Council and began to understand Dmitri’s deep revulsion and abhorrence to them.
“Also, remember each species is repellent of the other. The Light-Bearers believe the light cannot have dark, and the Blood-Hunters believe the dark cannot have light!”
Thoughts of injudicious prejudice crashed on Tabbruis’ soul, Light cannot have dark, and the dark cannot have light.
Tough . . .
I’m a hard as nails person . . . okay, I’m a marshmallow when it comes to romance. I wanted my heroine to be tough, and she is. However, Charmeine has a heart of love so big it could fill oceans. I wish I was like that!
Lots of love, Emily
tumblr_m4qm5khdnd1rx0u6zo3_2501Tabbruis’ grasp on her shoulder was firm, but she could almost feel his concern. She turned and looked into his deep green eyes and melted. “I’m sorry, you are right. I’m mad because with all my training, I didn’t get to fight him. Damn it to Hell! I would have loved to have taken him down a notch or two.”
Tabbruis started to laugh, shook his head and smiled wide. He asked with his eyebrows up in a quizzical way, “Just a notch or two?”
91-dark-shadows-gloriaThey both burst out laughing.
He took her arm and asked, “May I?”
“Yes, okay.”
Tabbruis took her arm in his hands. It was warm and delicate. He wrapped it around his broad shoulder and neck. Then he smoothly lifted her legs up by the backs of her knees.
Charleen instantly felt safer in his arms. With a sweet and soft voice, she whispered, “Thank you, for rescuing me,” and she laid her head on his big, strong chest.
When her arm swiped his neck, his flesh became flushed. He had her in his arms, and his heart started to beat harder. He hoped upon hope the light he saw during the attack was indeed lightning.
His mind ran over the fact Light-Bearers and Blood-Hunters were enemies. Closing his eyes, Tabbruis prayed silently, God, please do not let her be a Light-Bearer.
And once Tabbruis meets Charmeine . . .
A dear friend left this comment on a previous blog,
Daven Anderson, Author of Vampire Syndrome, (fantastic series)
“And once Tabbruis meets Charmeine…” so I thought, why not show you?
The attraction was magical, as their forbidden love blooms.
Thank you Daven and Lots of love, Emily
tumblr_m4331igFJG1ql3cv0o1_5001The man started to blink, revealing unfathomable green eyes. She sighed with relief when he opened his eyes. His brow was creased with questions as he looked at her. Feeling his pulse on his wrist was strong, she smiled in relief. “Oh, thank God. Are you okay? Can you hear me?”
Tabbruis thought he saw light coming from her hand into his, but the light did not hurt, it felt wonderful! As he struggled to get up off the pavement, she tried to help him.
She clumsily knocked herself over and fell beside him losing her balance.
On the pavement, they lay next to each other face to face. Tabbruis and Charleen looked at each other intently.
beautiful-couple-dark-follow-foolme-kiss-Favim_com-254908Weakly, almost willing the breath out of her lungs, she gasped, “I wanted to listen to Billy Joel under the stars . . . but I didn’t think I would be doing it lying on the parking lot.”
Tabbruis looked at her through his blurry eyes focusing on her beautiful face and half growled, “I came on a whim and did not expect to be lying in a parking lot listening to Billy Joel under the stars.”
He saw her smile and laugh rolling her eyes around in her head. He could tell she was in pain. He listened because her small laugh was like a balm on his soul. Coming to his senses, Tabbruis struggled to sit up. “As much fun as this has been, Miss, we cannot lie here all night looking at the stars and listening to music.”
She noticed his European accent right away and nodded while she held her head.
img233250191After struggling to get on his knees, Tabbruis turned and looked down at the face below him as if she were still a dream. She was magnificent! She had a round face with big bright brown eyes, tanned skin, a small nose. Her long hair looked like golden honey.
Hesitantly, Tabbruis extended his left hand to her, and put his right hand behind her head. Then he gently raised her into a sitting position. He saw she was starting to get up on her own, and took his hands off of her. Mostly because the more he touched her, the more he wanted to never let her go.
Connection out of loneliness . . .
Connections are tough.
We fill our lonely days and nights with friends, family, careers and hobbies.
Finding a true connection that captures those feelings beyond our normal hustle and bustle lives, is what I wanted to convey in this passage between
Charmeine and Tabbruis.
Lots of love, Emily
~~~~~~~~

Tabbruis - 4Charmeine stood and walked past him to the railing of the terrace overlooking the harbor. Her long golden hair whipped around her shoulders. Keeping her eyes on the harbor she confided, “I was found in 1997 not having any memory before that. However, I’ve been alone.”
She smiled in remembrance. “I met Shane, but he was like a baby brother to me. I sort of took care of him.” Shaking her head, she smiled. “He was always getting into one mess after another.”
98525938E8BB48509D7C78A00DFA670DWiping her eyes, she slowly turned away from Tabbruis’ penetrating gaze, “Loneliness . . . it’s torture in a way. No. It’s worse, because at the end of the torture, you have rest.”
She rotated her body around to look him in the eyes and professed, “There is no rest from one minute of loneliness because it fills your being and wraps your heart so tight; it doesn’t want to beat because it just hurts too much to go on.”
He closed his eyes and thought, My God! She has just described all the centuries I have been on Earth in that one sentence. He looked up at the moonlit, star-filled mosaic sky, and thought, God, what do I do? Please help me?
Her heart felt hopeful and professed, “I know Blood-Hunters and Light-Bearers are supposed to destroy each other, but I am hopeful you and I are . . . unique.”
-1He looked at her intently and thought, What is she saying?
She felt his stare and kept her head toward the harbor and declared, “A Blood-Hunter and a Light-Bearer we may be, but even if you do not want to admit it . . . there is a link between us.”

Tabbruis the ultimate loner . . .

When I wrote the first book, Charmeine, I wanted to explain how frustrated and isolated Tabbruis was. He was a introvert. I guess we have all felt reclusive in a way. Maybe it gives our psyche time to recharge?
Lots of love, Emily
~~~~~~~~~
287629_213334552052437_100001276809062_616250_6076118_oFor eight centuries, Tabbruis was a private individual. Solitude was best for him as blood raced in his brain when he was around humans. The scent of blood and the rush it gave him to pierce the jugular was exquisite, but it was always with a price of a severe self-loathing and self-hatred. His determination to abstain was strong, and he vowed not to take another human life for the pleasure of their blood. He drank donated blood only when big game was unavailable to hunt.
“Why am I drawn to the United States? Why the East Coast?” he muttered. Tabbruis had just killed a big stag taking all the life from it and sat back looking at the night sky. Like a star crashing into the Earth, he had an empty and lost feeling. He had been isolated for so long by choice; he was unsure what to think of his recent compulsion to venture out to the United States. He looked at the moon and roared a guttural, “Why?” Desperation, which was an old friend, overtook him again and mumbled, “Where else do you want to go?”
2012-dodge-charger-sxt-v6-photo-473495-s-1280x782Feeling unfocused, Tabbruis wandered until it was close to dawn. He needed a shower and a change of clothes. With speed and accuracy, he found his car parked off US Interstate 80 in northwest New Jersey by the exit for Sparta. He looked around to make sure he was not being watched and walked up to his car. He took out of the passenger side a thin black leather jacket which he promptly put on over his blood-stained shirt. He cleaned his hands and face with a wet-nap, then kicked the mud and leaves from his shoes.
Tabbruis slid behind the wheel of his Dodge Charger SRT8 with a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 engine. His muscle car roared to life with a push of the ignition button. He enjoyed the luxury and power of 465 horses under his hands driving down the open road. This car was a joy to drive, and he freely admitted to being attached to the Charger. He babied and took care of it. In his mind, European sports cars had nothing over his monster Charger with a Hemi.
1174758_625646457467292_272020049_nThousands of years being on Earth with superpowers and skill made him independently wealthy. He had hidden money around the globe in all sorts of currency and commodities. Determined, if he was going to be alone, he would have stability. Usually, Tabbruis denied himself luxuries and roughed it. Unlike power-hungry men of the Earth, he had to stay out of the spotlight. He needed to be far from suspicion and very much under the radar of governments and media.
Help others . . . help yourself!
This is a personal post . . .
I seem to be doing that a lot these days, but I’m trying to clear the cobwebs out of my mind – one of them is bothersome.
imagesHave you ever heard of Karma?
Let me make this perfectly clear, I am NOT a philosopher at all.
However, I believe Karma is circular.
If you want good things to happen, you make them happen by the good you give others.
If you want to be helped, you need to help others.
If you want to be happy, you need to make others happy.
So on and so forth . . .
I believe that there are some TREMENDOUSLY great Bloggers, Authors and awesome readers out there. So, let’s help each other out!
