A-Z with THE LIGHT-BEARER SERIES…2

D is for DESERT
In THE LIGHT-BEARER SERIES, Tabbruis awoke in the desert outside of Mt. Sinai. I picked this desolate place because so much history happened there. Again, I have my K-12 Catholic Education kicking in here. He was helped by a boy named Joseph… if you get it, you have had a little biblical instruction yourself!  Tabbruis was utterly alone and did not remember Heaven, Charmeine or anything. Can you imagine waking in a place and knowing nothing of your past or who you are?
E is for EXCESSIVE
Okay Tabbruis and all the Blood-Hunters in the series are rich beyond belief. Charmeine is not one who like excess. Does that seem weird? In today’s world, it does. Charmeine doesn’t mind the simple life. Her priceless things are the ocean and roses. She is not one to indulge. However, Tabbruis wants to spoil her. He wants to show her every wonder the world has to offer. I would call Charmeine “Low Maintenance,” courtesy of her humble upbringing.  In Tabbruis’ defense, wouldn’t you want to give the love of your life every happiness you could?
F is for FORMIDABLE
The forces against Charmeine and Tabbruis, and the rest of the gang at the Castle are deadly. I can’t explain how ugly and monstrous these creatures are. They have no sense of fair play. The Elder Council is beyond corrupt, they have Humans, Light-Bearers, and even their kin, the Blood-Hunters in a grasp of terror. It is Charmeine and Tabbruis’ task to rid the Earth of them. But how? How do you bring down a power-player who holds all the cards?

A is for ANGEL
Okay – How did I come up with those names…
Tabbruis, Charmeine, and Nemamiah?
That’s my K-12 Catholic Education at work.  I always loved these Angels and they are in THE LIGHT-BEARER SERIES as I was taught. Tabbruis is the Angel of Self-Determination, Charmeine is the Angel of Harmony, and Nemamiah is the Angel of Just Causes and Discernment. So parents, watch what you teach your kids, it may come up in their writing!
B is for BEAUTY
All of the characters in THE LIGHT-BEARER SERIES are beautiful and gorgeous. However, Charmeine is never convinced that she is beautiful. She thinks every wonder in the universe is more interesting and beautiful than her – the ocean, sunset, stars, and of course roses.

C is for CONTENTMENT
When Charmeine and Tabbruis first meet each other, they are content for the first time in their lives. Their draw, their appeal to each other is like a magnet. With each other, they feel whole. To be completely honest with you, I wrote Tabbruis and Charmeine’s relationship the way I feel around my hubby when we are relaxing and enjoying a cup of coffee on the couch snuggling… I feel whole.
That’s it for now!  I wanted to give you a taste of these series of posts are about.
I will try to entertain and hopefully, you will get a better insight into my writing and myself. I am humbled that I have a chance to put my love out there. THE LIGHT-BEARER SERIES is my labor of love.

“My name is Anthony, and I am the author who made you. I don’t know your name for now. I’m hoping you will find it along the way.” I paused. “You’ve stumbled out of your story, and you are back at the spot where I first created you. The problem is, I don’t know what story you came from.”
The character – five eight to five nine in height – read the words on the wall, and his heart sank
“You stumbled out sometime last night, and I found you when I went in to search my brain for something to write about.”
The character read the words silently.
“I do know that you are a runner. You are educated and smart, and have been around the world at least once. You are also 40 years old.”
I thought of a mirror, and it appeared on the wall. The character moved the lamp to shine the light up and down his body as he looked into the mirror. It was true. The author was right. He was in great physical shape. He also noticed he had dark hair, unkempt, with streaks of gray. The hair hung down to his shoulder blades, and a dark goatee surrounded his mouth.

Just to give you a peek into my past, I was born and raised in a small town called Bay Village, located in north-east Ohio. Having had a car accident at the age of sixteen devastated my family’s life style, which eventually caused me to leave home at the young age of seventeen.
I departed from my home in New Orleans, LA. to chase a dream of going back to Bay Village and graduating high school with childhood friends, which I did. After graduating high school I chose to join the 101st Screaming Eagles, located in Fort Campbell, KY.
Having achieved high scores in four extremely adventurous, military schools, excelled my rank to buck-sergeant in less than three years. Shortly thereafter I became a father of three adorable children. It was after raising my children I pursued another goal of writing science-fiction.
Using my extremely creative ability to write passionately and descriptively, paired with my insatiable desire to research all means of Science-fiction, has led to the development of The Egoles’ Sci-fi Series. 
I’ve spent most of my life raising my three children in a comfortable and loving atmosphere, away from the drama of toxic life style with their busy mother and vile step-father. Having to provide for their living, I spent most of my days in a physically demanding Factory.
Once they were properly raised I went on to writing my first book in 2008, The Biography of an American Poet then Poetic Biography of an American Baby Boomer. 
Afterwards I spent over three years developing and publishing my first sci-fi fantasy, Secrets of the Egoles’ Nest. Currently, I’m on the second book in The Egoles’ Sci-fi, fantasy series, Roar of the Egole.

Long before I wrote The Light-Bearer Series, I was an avid reader.
As a girl, I would climb the Dogwood Tree outside my bedroom window, read and listen to my transistor radio.
My penchant was for paranormal from the beginning… especially Dracula!
When I became older, I found Goodreads. I gave reviews on books that I liked and related to.
I would never publicly give a review on a book that I didn’t like. If I didn’t like the book, I would write the Author and comment. I never got a response that wasn’t welcomed. Many Authors like to talk to their readers. Unbeknownst to me, I would be an Author one day and think the same thing.
When I wrote The Light-Bearer Series, I couldn’t get anyone to read my books… not even family or friends… NO ONE!
I didn’t know about Social Media, i.e. blogs, Facebook Fan Page, Twitter, Tumbler… etc.
A kind Angel (one of many Angels I will encounter as an Author) saw my personal Facebook post that I couldn’t get anyone to read my books, and she took pity on me. My books were unedited and rough. She became the Beta Reader every aspiring Author needs. She gave me great advice.
After that, The Light-Bearer Series started to be read, and I would devour all my reviews.
Naturally, I would get a dismayed when my books would be criticized. I’m talking about the good criticism. The reviewers who respected their position as critic and my position as writer. Don’t get me wrong, constructive criticism I will take in a heartbeat!
However, when I would have a review that was unnecessarily harsh, derogatory and severe… it felt like someone stuck a knife in my belly and twisted it. The reviewers were operating more on the scale of cyber-bullying. Believe me, I have had them. Each one hurt me deeply because they ripped me up.
So, for my mental health and the good of my writing, I don’t read reviews anymore. Unless, it’s a Beta Reader with suggestions, corrections, and comments. The nasty, hateful and downright uncalled for reviewers, have made me quit reading reviews, period.
I do not want to become an Author who writes to suit the reviewers and not my story. When I write The Light-Bearer Series, I have to keep my vision clear.
There is a Cardinal Law in the Author playbook: NEVER RESPOND TO ANY REVIEWER! Under no circumstances, do I respond.
If the review was Slander and Libelous, (which I have had, by the way) then I dial my Publisher, and he handles it!

As Charmeine smiled, she wiped away a tear. “Tabbruis, did you say earlier you keep making mistakes? How your intent is good and didn’t know if our problems existed because you were alone so long?”
“Yes, you did not answer, so I felt like you agreed with my comment.” Tabbruis lowered his eyes and nodded. His hands went into fists, and then he unclenched them as he ran his hands through his hair in frustration.
She shook her head, got up and sat on the edge of the chaise lounge. Charmeine touched his cheek, and sweetly divulged, “No, I don’t agree. Quite frankly, I feel like I’m the problem, Tabbruis.” She turned away from him, put her hand over her eyes and chuckled, “It’s very hard to be a wife, mother, sister, aunt, Angel, Queen of the Light-Bearers, and battle Lucifer’s followers all at the same time. A lot of lines get blurred.” She turned and looked into his deep green eyes. “But Tabbruis, you have a tendency of coddling and shielding me.”
“Charmeine, I only want you and our baby to be healthy and happy.”
“Tabbruis, women have been having babies ever since Adam and Eve were turned out of Eden,” she quipped with a smile.
Immediately, he sat up, held her face and declared, “On Earth . . . not my woman,” and he kissed her deeply.
She pulled away from him. “You are not to blame Tab . . .”
He drew her up to him like she was a ragdoll and kissed her harder. In desperation, he pleaded, “Oh God, all I want is you and Baby Hunter to be safe, protected and loved. I need to know that you and all of our family is secure and happy.” He kissed her with the worry he felt. Tabbruis ran his fingers through her long blonde hair and wrapped his arms tightly around her.
Tabbruis never wanted to let Charmeine go.

MINDSTORM Parley at Ologo
Always an assistant, never the leader. Thomas McCrady is helping his partner with a peace treaty negotiation when a hostile telepath leads a group of locals in an attack on the meeting. After using his own psionic abilities to fight off the telepathic attacker, he teleports his partner back to the Haidar Space Station and promptly passes out. When he wakes up, he finds that his partner has died and a disabled psionic medicine specialist might be to blame.
The next morning, he learns that he is being sent out on another treaty negotiation, this time as the lead negotiator. A mysterious plague is killing off the two native races of the planet but has no effect on the humans working at a pharmaceutical company with corporate offices there. To find the truth about the plague, the Haidar Station magistrates are sending a doctor along, Dr. Calla Geisman, the same doctor Thomas blames for his partner’s death.
The situation is urgent, leaving no time for preparation, and the Terran pharmaceutical company that offered to help seems bent on sabotaging the negotiation in little, annoying ways. Worse, the two delegations can barely stand to be in the same room just like Thomas can stand to be around Calla.
He knows his prejudices are wrong, but her disability weakens her ability and reminds him of a drug dealer who tried to kill him seven years before. To survive the negotiations and forge peace between the warring natives, Thomas has to overcome his past and learn to trust his partner.

MINDSTORM Parley at Ologo

Two telepathic people from Haidar are commissioned to help a troubled planet parlay for peace and in so doing find a war of their own.
Koepp certainly walks the tightrope of science fiction and fantasy in this exciting tale.
Not only does Mindstorm have an array of interesting creatures and a galaxy of unique planets that they inhabit, but the elaborate system of telepathy tunnels the reader into a fragile landscape of mind and emotion. An exciting journey into and through deep and interesting fictional characters.
An excellent read, Mindstorm: Parlay at Olgio brings humor in the midst of drama, and passion in the midst of prejudice. I thoroughly enjoyed the story.

Angela reeled back as if she had been kicked in the head. Thomas tried to catch her, but his fingers brushed past the sleeve of her shirt. She hit the ground hard and stayed still.
“Angela!”
The garden’s gate burst open a second later under the weight of several Cordilians. The first hit on his mental shield came a second after the gate fell. His protection wobbled but held. Gunshots echoed off the garden’s wall. Bits of rock from a planter struck his thigh.
He yelped and dove under the table, even though the thin wood would never stop a bullet or a blaster bolt. He clapped his hand over the wound. If he were lucky, the snipers wouldn’t see him.
Shrill screams split the air. The sense of pain and terror from the delegates sickened him. He could do nothing to help them directly, but if he could reach Angela, he could teleport them both home, get her to a doctor, and send back more experienced help for the delegations.
As he inched toward her, a female presence shoved against his shields. Thomas bolstered his defense and pushed her back.
The second attempt battered at his mental shield and bored through. Before he could reset his guard, his attacker thrust into his mind like a spear. Thomas clenched his eyes and focused inward.
You want a fight? You got one.
A dark, curvaceous image bearing a pair of fiery knives appeared in his mental perception. Her hand covered her mouth. “Ooo. That didn’t hurt, did it?”
Thomas mustered every scrap of power and focus he could pull together. “Not half as much as this will.”
His own personal image formed in the shape of a huge wolf. He launched himself at the shadow woman and tackled her, tearing into her with a mouth full of sharp teeth.

 

Bio of Author Cindy Koepp

I’m one of those odd creatures who has an education from rival universities.  My degree in Wildlife Ecology came from Texas A&M University.  Then, a few years later, I went through teacher certification at the University of Texas at Austin. After 14 years of teaching in public schools, I’m headed back to school myself for a masters in adult learning. I fill the rest of my time working on writing projects and whistling tunes back and forth with a silly Timneh African Grey.

Excerpt from SEDITIOUS 
Charmeine knew this beautiful woman was a very powerful Blood-Hunter. She felt Baby Hunter kicking and fought to control her anxiety.
“Ah, yes, very good gentlemen. We have her now.” The mysterious woman told the men in a thick, French accent. She gazed with wide spellbinding eyes at Charmeine. She looked like a cat ready to pounce on her prey.
The man who held Charmeine pushed her to go out the terrace doors.
She knew this was a kidnapping and worried for Baby Hunter. Charmeine struggled to gain some kind of fighting advantage.
The Light-Bearers practiced their self-defense skills with her daughter, Sandra, and worked on how to get out these hand-binding holds. After Charmeine’s encounters with Pascal, she never wanted to feel helpless again.
With speed and accuracy, Charmeine used her power to fly up backwards over the head of the Blood-Hunter. She broke out of his grip. Immediately, she leveled him with a powerful and fierce bolt of white electricity which stunned him into a stupor.
Percival took this opportunity to sweep the legs of the man who held him. He stunned his assailant, and made him fall down in pain with a green charge which ran through his body.
“Use your light for Athena!” Charmeine yelled to Percival.
Percival threw a green lightning bolt at the man who held Athena.
Within a second, the Blood-Hunter was on the ground. A green current cursed through him.
 “Halt!” the Blood-Hunter woman demanded.
Charmeine looked up and a hand gun was aimed at her belly.
The woman widened her indigo eyes with her fangs exposed. She threatened, “You really never know where a bullet will go? Do you?” she laughed.
Her maniacal giggles curdled Charmeine’s blood. She could tell the Blood-Hunter woman was telling the truth.
“Yes, the bullet could just land somewhere very unhealthy for your unborn spawn.” She circled Charmeine like a shark swimming around its prey. “Not that hurting spawn of this Light-Bearer scum would matter,” she quipped in a matter-of-fact way.
Charmeine began to feel waves of nausea and fought the urge to be sick.
“The offspring is just a by-product.” With a sinister laugh the woman scoffed, “Yes, a by-product which should be tossed aside and thrown away like the trash it is . . . as soon as we cut it out of you!”
The Blood-Hunter woman began to laugh with a vicious tone and stuck the gun in Charmeine’s belly ready to pull the trigger.
