NA contemporary - Dancing in Circles - on Weekend Writing Warriors #8Sunday
Link back to WWWSorry to anybody who has dropped by the past few days. My laptop crashed and I hadn't gotten the weekend posts up. Currently on my hubby's. Not loving technology at the moment. It seems it's been one thing after another all summer.
But on to this week's WWW - From Dancing in Circles - Julie and Robert return to school. Robert is a couple of minutes late to class. This is his classes reaction when he enters.
"Thought you'd been kicked out." A student in the third row growled in a low voice."Huh?""You heard me.""Sorry to disappoint.""What's the chatter over there?" Mrs. Wolmsley's brow wrinkled as she glanced across the room."Whoever this is." Robert jerked his thumb towards the student. "Was worried I'd been expelled."
Blurb – One born into privilege and a charmed life surrounded by love and family. The other born to a life of violence on the streets as the solemn gang leader of the notorious Shoresmen. A young, idealistic co-ed, Julie, meets a jaded, cold gang member, Robert, and cracks his icy shell, allowing the warmth of her love to awaken his soul.

5 stars - Julie I liked, but Robert, loved that guy. He's thrown some insurmountable circumstances to overcome, but he manages a way around it all quite nicely. While he may be the 'bad boy', he still has a heart of gold. The author did a nice job expressing that while we may not all travel the same paths in life, we still are essentially the same people and deserve happiness alike.
5 Stars - I loved the cover, as well as the story. I liked the school setting, and the description in the beginning of Julie and her friends. Julie is the dreamer, searching for a happy ending. I also liked Robert, who is a "bad boy" gang leader. "from the wrong side of the tracks," etc. One of Julie's relatives says he has a heart of gold, and he does. He's smart and practical and I think he's great.
5 Stars - Author Victoria Adams does an excellent job at bringing characters to life. I really enjoyed living through Julie's dream of becoming a dancer and her connection with Robert. Yeah, Robert may have gotten himself in the wrong crowd, but he really does portray a compassionate person and in the end he really does grow on you. Can't wait to see the next one in the series!

Blog Ahead and Thursday 13 - 2 for 1 on my blog today #Thurs13
Blog Ahead is a blog challenge where you try to get ahead - lol - onlyour blog posts. Right now - I have 27 scheduled - add 31 - by the end of the month I'm aiming for 58 posts. Go Team Me!
So for this week I decided to shift to my contemporary romance - Circles Interlocked.
Scene set - Julie is reading a letter from Robert delivered to her by her mother.
Hi,If you're reading this then something went wrong and I guess I'm dead. Sorry. But that's only one more screw up to add to my list. I've messed things up a lot in this relationship. Why do people who should never be together fall in love?I should've never met you and I certainly shouldn't have fallen in love with you, but I did. I never stopped loving you once in the years we were apart. Telling you this now seems a little stupid, I guess I should've done it before I let you go back to Langston.A long time ago - in high school - we had to write an assignment for our last English essay. You and I had broken up and everyone was mad at me for being such a bastard. For my essay, I handed in a poem.
Blurb
Having been betrayed by the man she assumed she was destined to be with forever; Julie Anderson slapped Robert Holiday in an angry ending to their brief love affair. Heartbroken that her love affair didn't end with the fairy tale Happily Ever After, Julie leaves town to pursue her dream of being a dancer. As fate has a curious sense of humor, eight years later, they wake up in bed together. Now it is up to love to fix what time cannot mend.

From Red Tulip - Darcy's subway ride Book Hooks #MFRWhooks #MFRWAuthor
A continuation from Red Tulip. Darcy is riding the subway home. A lady next to her fell asleep reading a magazine. The magazine slipped out of her hands and fell on the floor.
The magazine slipped a bit more and settled on the floor. My gaze riveted to the open page. An advertisement for an exquisite piece of jewellery, but it was the colour of the emeralds that captured my attention. They were the same shade of green as his eyes.A tingle raced through my body just thinking about his eyes. They held a power that reached into me and for those brief moments of contact made me light-hearted and yet also afraid. Afraid I could lose myself to him.
Blurb - Darcy O'Calahann, a junior gardener from a small mid-western town, is trying to make her way in the big city.Shamus McTavis is a wealthy bachelor with a mysterious family past. Are Darcy's eyes playing tricks on her? Is she losing her mind? Or is there really a Red Tulip tying her and Shamus together?

Dancing in Circles on Weekend Writing Warriors #8sunday
Link back to Weekend Writing Warriors
From NA contemporary - Dancing in Circles - scene set - Julie and Robert are having lunch (I know it's been going on for months - lol). Robert just asked Julie - why she cares about who he is or what he does. Robert speaks first.
"My curiosity's piqued. I thought I understood people, but you surprised me. There's something behind those eyes…some sort of a secret.""I've got a past. I ain't proud of it. Didn't wanna cause any trouble. Just wanted to get through this term and disappear."Julie swallowed the last of her lemonade and said, "I'm really angry with myself because I'm having a difficult time letting you be you. I want you to fit the stereotype."
Blurb – One born into privilege and a charmed life surrounded by love and family. The other born to a life of violence on the streets as the solemn gang leader of the notorious Shoresmen. Darcy thinks about her love life on My Sexy Saturday #MySexySaturday #MSS111
Seven sentences from my contemporary romance with a hint of mystery - Red Tulip.
Scene set- Darcy is on the subway heading home after her work day at the municipal gardens. A fellow passenger falls asleep and the magazine on her lap falls to the floor. A bautiful emaerald necklace catches Darcy's attention.
They were the same shade of green as his eyes.A tingle raced through my body just thinking about his eyes. They held a power that reached into me and for those brief moments of contact made me light-hearted and yet also afraid. Afraid I could lose myself to him.Was I ready to give myself to another? Not that there was anyone in my life at the present. My love life was exactly like a Dillhoffia – extinct.

Scene set - Julie and Robert are at a house party.
Christopher barged between them and bumped Robert's shoulder. "Guess Jennifer's starting to hang with trash."Robert lunged forward, grabbed Christopher's shoulder and spun him around. Before Christopher could react, Robert slammed his palms on Christopher's chest shoving him back a couple of steps. "I am so not going take any of this shit tonight. Ya wanna take this outside and end it now?" His shoulders heaved with the depth of breaths he inhaled.Refusing to make eye contact with Robert, Christopher glanced around. "I didn't mean nothing."With one step, Robert invaded Christopher's personal space. "Yea, you did." He locked his gaze onto Christopher's and didn't blink.Jennifer started to step forward, but Julie touched her arm. "No, leave him alone. Let him deal. He won't do anything stupid."Several heartbeats later, a friend of Christopher's grabbed his arm, pulling him away.Robert slightly turned his head and watched as they camouflaged Christopher into the crowd. He rolled his shoulders and twisted his head around then turned. All signs of anger had disappeared. He stepped closer to Jennifer. "Sorry. He shouldn't have insulted ya. If ya want me to go, I'm outta here."She handed him an unopened beer, rose up on her toes and placed a tiny kiss on his cheek. "You did good. He's an ass." Smiling at the surprised look on Robert's face, she walked over to a group of girls to mingle with her friends.Still holding the beer, Robert walked nearer to Julie and pulled her close. "Thanks. I heard what you said. Thanks for trustin' me." He pressed his lips against the velvet skin of her neck and inhaled the aroma of her perfume. He wanted to trail kisses up her long neck and lose himself in the touch of her soft pink lips, instead, he stood before her gazing into her eyes.Julie's voice went mute at the touch of his lips. The heat of his flesh on hers made her mind swirl. Through the noise of the crowd and the fire that raged in both of them, the sound of music broke through."Wanna dance?" He breathed across her ear.She rested her forehead on his chest. "I'm not good at dancing this stuff."Robert scratched his head. "Babe, you're a ballerina."Lifting her head, she gazed into his dark eyes. "That's exactly it. Put on Tchaikovsky and I'll pirouette around the room for you."Not wanting to let go of Julie, Robert forced himself to step back. "Come on. I'll teach ya." He twisted the top off the beer, chugged half the bottle, led her to the dance area and placed his beer on a plant stand. "Ok, find the beat."She rolled her eyes and snapped her fingers."So you're not hopeless. Now just go with it."Julie marvelled at how well he moved. "You should take dance classes with me.""Like that's ever gonna happen." He grabbed his beer and gulped a couple of mouthfuls. One song faded into the next. Julie and Robert were the only couple on the dance floor. Both regarded the way the other's body moved; gyrating hips and swaying body. Julie shimmied her shoulders whenever she caught him watching her. His face broke into an easy smile. He grabbed her and dropped her into a dip. Holding her firmly in his grip, Robert kissed Julie where the top of her blouse fell open.

Calm and subdued Red Tulip is on Rockin' Reads - oh my! #RockinReads
IF YOU ARE HERE FOR BOOK HOOKS - PLEASE SCROLL DOWN
');
My rockin read is a bit tamer than the lady on the blog hop button. Red Tulip is a contemporary romance with a hint of mystery. There may or maynot be some supernatural things going on - Darcy - ther heroine - isn't sure what's up.
Excerpt
"When was the last time you were offered the gift of a red tulip?"I turned to see who spoke while I wondered if he was addressing me. A man sat on a park bench, dressed in a dark suit, with a bowler hat, holding a cane and his head bowed. I shifted to continue along the path when his face lifted and I found myself gaping at two glowing green eyes."When was the last time you were offered the gift of a red tulip?"I blinked, trying to look away from those mesmerising orbs. "Uh, never. I mean, no one has ever offered me a tulip.""A red tulip.""Okay, no one has ever offered me a red tulip." Uneasiness slithered through me. "Nice chatting with you." Smiling, I scurried down the path leading away from the park bench and towards the gardener's shed. With Jacobs being sick today, I had to hurry to get the last of the flower beds cleaned and prepared for spring plantings. The past winter had been bitter. It seemed tree branches and mouse damage wreaked havoc on every one of the one hundred and sixteen different flowerbeds.I slipped my key into the lock, opened the shed door, stepped inside and shut it behind me. Closing my eyes, I allowed myself a moment to indulge in the beauty of his eyes. Emerald green. As brilliant as the gems locked among the diamonds at Tiffany's. Not that I shop there. Couldn't possibly afford anything on a junior gardener's salary, but I do fantasize when wandering the aisles. What would it be like to be with a man like that? For those few moments in his presence, I was unable to think. My breath caught in my lungs. My palms were slick with beads of sweat. I shook my head, opened my eyes, and tugged the ever-present hair tie off my wrist. "Get over yourself, Darcy. A man like that wants a super model who can slink around on eight-inch heels. Not someone who digs in the dirt all day."I pulled my hair up into a ponytail and tucked it through the back hole in my baseball cap. After grabbing a rake and my favourite trowel, I loaded them and a pair of snippers and clippers onto the back of the gardener's cart, opened the big door, then drove out into the bright spring sunshine. Hopping out of the cart, I then turned and hoisted a bag of duck feed into the cart, closed and locked both shed doors. The buds on the trees had begun to swell. A sure sign spring was at hand. I inhaled deep, slipped onto the driver's seat and turned in the direction of the duck pond. Joy lifted my heart as I drove towards my favourite part of the day: duck feeding. This time of the year, the drakes courted the ducks. Not like in my life where the drake, namely Justin, was off courting Sabrina rather than me. Okay, so Sabrina had a sexy job as a TV weather girl. But I'm betting those eyelashes, fingernails and boobs aren't original packaging.I stood by the side of the pond, tossing handfuls of feed into the shallow water. I laughed as the ducks and geese waddled over, scavenging for food.Movement to my left caught my attention. A large, old car, a Rolls Royce I think, parked at the edge of the lot. The front door opened and a chauffeur exited. Cool. I wonder which celebrity is getting married today?Although not in full flower, the early spring gardens did make a striking backdrop for wedding photos or model shoots. A tingle shot from my belly to my toes when hestepped out of the car. I turned my head, pretending to focus on the ducks, but I watched as he exited the car, strolled down the grass, sat on the nearest bench and smiled.Oh, good heavens. Is he following me? Like a stalker? I gave myself a little shake. Don't be stupid. He probably just wants to watch me feed the ducks.I struggled not to glance back and meet the emerald green gaze. I had a job to do. Brushing my hands against my work pants, I returned to the cart and proceeded with my day.Twelve flowerbeds cleaned. I was tired, but proud. Tomorrow, Jacobs and I could begin the planting, and soon the gardens would be alive with blooms. As I reached the gardener's shed, I checked to see if, maybe, the Rolls was nearby. Or, possibly the man with the emerald gaze sat on a nearby bench. Both the parking lot and bench were deserted. No one but the ducks and me were in the park at this time of the day.Sighing, I inserted the key into the lock for the big door and drove the cart inside. A splash of colour on the wooden bench made me gasp. I jumped out of the cart and picked up the note resting beside the flower."I offer the gift of a red tulip."

'); My rockin read is a bit tamer than the lady on the blog hop button. Red Tulip is a contemporary romance with a hint of mystery. There may or maynot be some supernatural things going on - Darcy - ther heroine - isn't sure what's up.
Excerpt"When was the last time you were offered the gift of a red tulip?"I turned to see who spoke while I wondered if he was addressing me.
