Thursday's Ramblings on Victoria's Pages of Romance #ThursThoughts

My first thought is - it's Thursday??? You know how some week's just fly by.
A friend of mine posted this gif on FB and I absolutely loved it.

As a writer, I could just settle into that scene and create a mystery or a romance.  Mood is important and that gif has it down pat.

I can't create art like that. Been known to say - more than once- that I don't have an artistic bone in my body. But I can appreciate others' skill and talent.

The other reason I posted this is when I'm stressed or stymied for a scene - I'm going to get a mug of hot chocolate - put some calming yoga music on in the back ground and stare at it.

NCIS Franchise - I just can't get enough

CBS has come up with the golden TV show and has figured out how to run with it. The NCIS franchise is my favourite.  My ABSOLUTE favourite. To start with, several years ago, I was flipping through channels and gasped then blurted out, “That’s Illya Kuryakin!”
Yes, I am dating myself, but I watched every episode of The Man from U.N.C.L.E and to this day can rattle off what U.N.C.L.E stands for.  Illya Kuryakin-  aka – David McCallum – was my first Hollywood actor crush.



So I settled down to watch whatever this show was that McCallum was in. And what I found was the original NCIS. This was one of the first few episodes of the first year. And I have been hooked ever since. 



I suffered through the loss of Kate and Ziva and learned to love the new characters – Ziva and Bishop.  I’ve followed every moment of poor probie’s (McGee’s) suffering under Tony. And I have drooled over Gibbs’ alpha maleness.
But there was Ducky – and every scene he has been in there has been a smile lurking on my lips (except for the gut-wrenching sad scenes.)
And no I wouldn’t – how could I??? – forget Abbey.  The energy exuding from that character. When she’s excited, everyone is. When she’s scared – you just want Gibbs there to protect her. I’ve been known to watch other similar shows and when people are stymied – I’ve said, “Just get Abbey.”  But what I really like about her – is she is inspiring to young girls. She’s a science geek and still super cool.


I “borrowed” this and shortened it from Wikipedia – just in case there is somebody out there who reads this who doesn’t know who these characters are.Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), Supervisory Special AgentGibbs heads the Major Case Response Team (MCRT). He was previously a sniper in the United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Gunnery Sergeant, until 1991 when his first wife Shannon and daughter Kelly were killed by a Mexican drug dealer. Anthony "Tony" DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), Senior Special AgentDiNozzo is former detective. He is considered a notorious womanizer, his behavior even irritates the women he works with, although his behavior has been shown to change as the character developed. DiNozzo is a movie enthusiast and often uses movie references when discussing a case, which annoys and irritates his coworkers.Abigail "Abby" Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), a lab technicianAbby is a forensics specialist working with the Major Case Response Team. She has an affinity for goth fashion and a passion for Caf-Pow, a fictional high caffeine beverage. She has a close friendship with McGee, and claims to be Gibbs' favorite. Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard (David McCallum), a coronerMallard is the Chief Medical Examiner of NCIS. A graduate of the University of Edinburgh, he spent some time as a medical examiner in Vietnam, Bosnia, and Afghanistan with the Royal Army Medical Corps before working for NCIS. One of the longest-serving members of the team, he is best friends with Gibbs.Timothy "Tim" McGee (Sean Murray), NCIS AgentMcGee has a degree in computer forensics from MIT and along with Abby Sciuto acts as the team's technology specialist. He was often called "Probie" by DiNozzo despite no longer being a probationary agent. Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll), Director of NCISVance became the Director of NCIS following Jenny Shepard's death at the end of the season five. He was formerly an NCIS Assistant Director.Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen), Assistant Medical ExaminerPalmer is the assistant to Dr. Mallard. Eleanor Bishop (Emily Wickersham), NCIS AgentBishop was introduced after helping NCIS solve a case, Gibbs offered her a chance to do double duty as an NSA Analyst on the NCIS MCRT.

The Big Bang Theory - and why it's my favourite.

The Big Bang Theory is the leading explanation about how the universe began. At its simplest,it talks about the universe as we know it starting with a small singularity, then inflating over the next 13.8 billion years to the cosmos that we know today.


That is so not what I’m talking about. Big Bang Theory is one of the top TV shows and one of my favourites. What makes it my favourite? It’s got to be the characters.  This is not so much a plot driven series but a character driven one.
Where to start – which character?? I can never seem to pick my favourite. This week it’s Raj and next week it’s Leonard.
Which episode?  Oh good God, not in a million years could I pick that one.  I love the episode where…no wait, the one with…uh…oh  crap – let’s just say 99% of them I love and have watched more than once.


Keep up the good work – Chuck Lorre. You created a fabulous show.  Keep up the great work -  Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco (Leonard and Penny), Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik (Sheldon and Amy), Simon Helberg and Melissa Rauch  (Howard and Bernadette), Kunal Nayyar (Raj) and Kevin Sussman (Stuart) (who may actually  be my favourite character) - you’ve brought to life characters which we love.

 So I'm not a great fan of spooky or scary or horror movies or TV shows. I mean Big Bang Theory is my favourite TV show.  My daughter on the other hand is a devout Walking Dead fan. But we have a Halloween tradition that's been going on for a long time - we sit down an watch Spaced Invaders. If you haven't seen it - I highly recommend it. It's dumb fun.  It's a take off on the War of the Worlds theme.  We've seen it so often we use quotes from it -

Julie's peaceful serenity shattered into shocked indignity on My Sexy Saturday #MySexySaturday #MSS114

The theme this week can mean anything from a couple who have been together a long time, even forever or it could be about a couple whose love is new and hot and very sexy. It could be about couples pulled apart only to find each other again, maybe even in another lifetime. 



Scene set - Sexy is a couple pulled apart then reunited – even under rather weird conditions.  Friends, Julie and Francine ,visit the Murran Estates mansion and Brittany offers rooms for them to stay in.  Finally crawling into bed at 4 a.m., Robert snuggles in and drops off to sleep
"Oh my God!" Julie’s feet hit the floor as she spun around. Heart pounding, chills racing up her spine, she stood staring, eyes disbelieving. Her mouth moved. Words unable to tumble out. "You! You?""Julie." Francine burst through the door, and skidded to a stop. "Are you all ri…." Before her stood Julie, shoulder length hair wild from her night's rest, her chest rising and falling in deep breaths, and her chestnut-brown eyes open wide.On the other side of the bed, equally deshevelled, eyes darting between Francine and Julie, Robert gathered his wits about him. "You're not Corina."The morning gossip line of chirps and chatters filled the room as the once lovers mutely stared at each other. One not comprehending the other's existence. One not believing the other's presence."What's wrong?" asked Brittany as she stumbled into the room. "I thought I heard someone scream.""That's not Corina." Through the fog of fading sleep, Robert was unable to verbalize the volume of questions, which raced through his mind. He ran his fingers through his hair, and stared at Julie."I don't look anything like her." Julie's peaceful serenity shattered into shocked indignity.

This weeks Friday Snippets features - Circles Divided

This week's Friday Snippet is from Circles Divided - Book 2 in the Circles Trilogy



Isn't it great to be in love? Julie stifled a giggle as she snuck a sideways peek at Robert. With his focus on the road, she could revel in the vision of his long lashes, framing dark coal coloured eyes. Eyes that seemed to peer right through to her heart. Her gaze traced the outline of his strong chin and mouth, which broke into an easy grin each time he saw herIt had been a crazy few weeks since he appeared in her biology class. The new kid in the school was from North Shore and to a Westlander, like herself, that wasn't good. But she'd looked past his heritage and found a compassionate and loving man hidden under the shell of a Shoresmen gang member. Somehow, they'd broken laws of chemistry, and oil and water combined to make passionate love.Robert glanced across the cab at Julie, gripped the steering wheel with his left hand and held out his right. She interlaced her fingers with his and smiled. He loved her. She loved him. They'd finish at Westland Prep in a few weeks and then go off to university together. She didn't have to pursue her dance career. It was just a childhood fantasy. Being a professional dancer would make it tough to have a relationship when she would always be travelling to other parts of the country or the world. There had to be something at university she could major in. What did she like besides dancing? Julie yawned and stretched, pointing her toes. I do have a beautiful pointe. And dancer's feet."Are we there, yet?" Ashley's voice cut through the silence in the minivan.Julie turned to face her youngest sister. "Not much longer." Movement in the back row caught her attention. Annoying brother, Jason pushed equally exasperating sister, Sheila, who shoved him back."Get off my side." Sheila stuck her tongue out."I'm not on your side, I'm on my side." Jason scrunched his face and glared at his sister.Julie rolled her eyes. "Cut it out, you two." Chuckling, she smiled at Robert. "The animals are getting restless."He checked the rear-view mirror and shook his head.




Is the love of a girl from wealthy Westland and a street punk from the slums of the Shore strong enough to surpass all that life will throw at them and forge a life together? Is Julie willing to sacrifice her childhood dream of becoming a professional dancer for the man she loves? Is Robert willing to lay down his ties to the gang in order to hold onto his new found love?
Sacrifices must be made, but will they be enough?

Thursday Thoughts - Just some mindless Rambling #ThursThoughts

Got this from FB - Sun Gazing page. It's incredibly beautiful.  A spiral galaxy. Makes you realize how little an insignificant you really are.  Maybe if all the "egos" (people with big pain in the butt egos) in your life or in the world could take a minute to ponder their significance.  It would take some stress out of the world if egoists were less ego-y. (Yes - I just made that word up.)

That is my Zen thought for the day.
