Anything interesting happen at school today? From Dancing in Circles on Weekend Writing Warriors #8Sunday

Link back to Weekend Writing Warriors - www.wewriwa.com

Scene set - Julie's having supper with her family before heading back to school for the first dance of the year. Julie comes from a well to do family.

"Pardon?" Julie looked around the dining room table at her two younger sisters, her parents and one obnoxious little brother."I asked you three times if you'd pass the salad," said her mother, holding out her hand, waiting for the bowl. "Anything interesting happen at school today?" Her father reached for the bottle of dressing.Julie looked up from her meal. "There's a new student at school. He's from North Shore.""If he's Shore how did he manage to get into Westland Prep?" Her father frowned.

Blurb – One born into privilege and a charmed life surrounded by love and family. The other born to a life of violence on the streets as the solemn gang leader of the notorious Shoresmen. A young, idealistic co-ed, Julie, meets a jaded, cold gang member, Robert, and cracks his icy shell, allowing the warmth of her love to awaken his soul.

5 Stars - I loved the cover, as well as the story. I liked the school setting, and the description in the beginning of Julie and her friends. Julie is the dreamer, searching for a happy ending. I also liked Robert, who is a "bad boy" gang leader. "from the wrong side of the tracks," etc. One of Julie's relatives says he has a heart of gold, and he does. He's smart and practical and I think he's great.

What did Hunter teasingly threaten? A Guy and A Girl on My Sexy Saturday #MySexySaturday #MSS137

Welcome to the 137thweek of My Sexy Saturday.
This week’s theme: Our Sexy Vacation
Scene set - Chelsea and Hunter are at a resort. Hunter speaks first.

"Private lake. No other cabins around. This is the farthest from the rest." His fingers made patterns in the sunscreen until it was absorbed into her skin. Then with slow broad strokes he caressed her back, relaxing her muscles while he calmed her nerves. "What is it you've decided to do this fall? Go back to college?""Yea, a bunch of new courses to take. Not a complete shift in focus, just a swerve to the right. Kendall was the artist, not me."Hunter shifted to spreading sunscreen down her long, firm legs. The curve of her calf fit quite nicely into the palm of his hand."I love to dance, but I don't want to be a dancer. I never saw myself up on stage at the Lincoln Center in New York."She focused on the warmth of the sun on her back, the gentle rock of the dock and Hunter's caresses down her legs until a peacefulness enveloped her.His lips kissed a trail up her body starting at her toes and inching their way up to her shoulders. His hot breath caressed her skin the moment before his lips touched her. A light cool drip of water splashed her shoulder. It rolled down in her armpit. Many more followed the same path of that drop. Chelsea opened one eye. "What're you doing?""Trying to wake you up without having to throw you into the lake. Should go before that thunderstorm gets any closer."

What people are saying about A Guy and A Girl
Review by Rebecca:
A Guy and A Girl took me by surprise. When I began reading, it took me a little while to adjust to reading through multiple perspectives. After I read a few chapters I easily adapted.
Knowing what is going on in a scene through several characters gave this story a true YA/New Adult feel.
I enjoyed the plot twists and turns, the suspense, and especially the ending. It is a bit longer of a read than most YA/NA books, but again, it worked for me.
Ms Adams wrote as if she was inside these young characters’ heads, and it made the story come alive.

An excerpt from Sunrise - flash fiction time travel romance #amwriting #flashfiction

An excerpt from Sunrise - my flash fiction time travel romance.  This will be published later in the year.

J'dol is from a different time. He doesn't know where or when he is. He's injured, lost and confused.

Here are the links to the other chapters

Link to Chapter 1 Link to Chapter 2 Link to Chapter 3 Link to Chapter 4 Link to Chapter 5 Link to Chapter 6 Link to Chapter 7

Chapter 8
The uniformed man yelled, "You. Stop."J'dol dropped his food, grabbed his sword and backpack and bolted deeper into the forest. Behind him, he could hear the crash of bodies through the underbrush. After the initial jolt of adrenaline, the pain in his back and leg demanded attention. He stopped and leaned against a tree, chest heaving as he inhaled deep breaths, and listened. Bird calls rang clear, but no sounds of any pursuers. Deciding to rest a moment, as darkness settled in; he slipped to the leaf-covered ground. His head spun from the exertion and lack of food. His body ached from the injuries. J'dol peered through the trees. The beauty of the sunset filled him with a moment of calmness. The brilliant pinks and purples reminded him of sunsets back home. Wherever home was. He pushed himself up to stand and trudged forward to a break in the trees. When he passed through to a large opening, he paused. Before him lay a large flat, black area with white lines. Between the lines were big carts, like the one the uniformed men rode in when they went to Sian's. Beyond that, were strange buildings, built with small rectangular stones. On the front were large pictures and funny shapes that lit up and darkened. Was this where the Miz-hapen lived? Had he found their home? He tightened his grip on the hilt of his sword, prepared to kill every Miz-hapen. A bright red cart drove up and stopped between the white lines. Doors opened and a man, woman, and two young girls stepped out. The girls giggled and laughed. The man opened a lid on the back of the cart and pulled out a long blue thing, he swung it over his shoulder then got a green one and a smaller yellow and pink one. The girls held their mother's hand and walked across the flat black area that looked smooth like a road and disappeared down a slope.Curiosity roused, J'dol worked his way behind buildings and across the road. He stopped near a tree and peered down a small slope. Before him was a mass of people, sitting in chairs, or walking around, greeting people. They were scattered along the shore of a large lake. None were the Miz-hapen. J'dol relaxed. His protective instinct nudged him. He glanced around. If the uniformed men were still searching for him, he was too exposed. He made his way back to the protection of the forest and nestled down behind a large oak.The air was warm. The sky dark. It was time to catch some sleep. Tucking his sword under his right leg and his back pack near his left hip, J'dol leaned back against the tree and closed his eyes. The heaviness of sleep soon overtook him.His dreams were full of confused images of Odine and the children, burned bodies, Sian's face, the picture of the Miz-hapen. Explosions. And another. He frowned and stirred. Another series of loud bangs. He grabbed his things and leapt up, ready for battle. The sky lit with bright golds, purples and reds. The sounds bounced off the nearby buildings. Were the people being attacked?J'dol stumbled forward, trying to waken his stiff legs. He broke free of the forest and crossed to the slope by the lake. More brilliant explosions filled the night sky. People cheered. J'dol stopped, stunned. The people were not in danger. This was a celebration. A brilliant red then gold star burst in the sky then rained down like a hundred falling stars. More shouts and cheers from the people. What were they celebrating? Anger boiled in him. The destruction of his village? How could they be so cruel to celebrate the death of innocent women and children? These people were evil. This place was evil.A wave of nausea filled him. The view before him spun. He dropped to one knee.I cannot get my fill of revenge if I am sick. I must get better. I must eat. Then I can kill them all. Sian's face filled his mind. Yes, he would have to trust her. She tried to heal him. Maybe she would do it again. The air filled with explosions and sirens. J'dol twisted left and right. Had they found him? He raced across the road. A large cart squealed to a halt and a loud blast erupted from it.Ignoring it, he drove his legs, forcing them to move to the safety of the forest and then to Sian's. His eyes adjusted to the darkness, but he slowed his pace once inside the trees. Still he bounced off several and tripped over exposed roots. One thought urged him onward. Sian will help.At last, he broke out of the forest and found Sian's home. It was dark, no lights shone from any window. He raced onto the deck and peered in the windows. He tried the door. She was not home. He climbed under her deck and settled down to sleep. In the morning he would seek her help. Again, sleep flooded his body. This time his dreams were vengeful. His wrath being spent on those who killed his family. A noise startled him awake. He waited, listening. Senses alert.A hand grabbed his shoulder. "There you are."

ABOUT CLARE CHASE
Clare Chase writes women sleuth mysteries set in London and Cambridge. She fell in love with the capital as a student, living in the rather cushy surroundings of Hampstead in what was then a campus college of London University. (It's currently being turned into posh flats ...)

After graduating in English Literature, she moved to Cambridge and has lived there ever since. She's fascinated by the city's contrasts and contradictions, which feed into her writing. She's worked in diverse settings - from the 800-year-old University to one of the local prisons - and lived everywhere from the house of a Lord to a slug-infested flat. The terrace she now occupies, with her husband and teenage daughters, presents a good happy medium.

As well as writing, Clare loves family time, art and architecture, cooking, and of course, reading other people's books.

Clare's debut novel, You Think You Know Me, has been shortlisted for an EPIC award, and was chosen as a debut of the month for September 2015 by Lovereading. Is Francine opposed to Robert or not? Dancing in Circles on Weekend Writing Warriors #8sunday

Link back to Weekend Writing Warriors - www.wewriwa.com

Scene set - Julie's friend just announced she is going to the school dance with Robert. Her other friend, Francine voices her opinion of Robert.

Francine rolled her eyes. "I wouldn't be caught dead with him. This is a Shoresmen we're talking about." Speaking with the pompous authority fuelled only by gossip, Francine flicked her hair back. "Gang members aren't like real people. They're all bad blood. Robert got off the hook because the police couldn't find his knife, but he just proved he has it and he'd use it. To them, killing someone is like...us buying a new blouse. It means nothing."

Chelsea's Sexy Day from A Guy and A Girl on My Sexy Saturday #MySexySaturday #MSS136

Welcome to the 136thweek of My Sexy Saturday.

This week’s theme: My Sexy Day
From my NA contemporary hockey romance - A Guy and A GirlScene set - Chelsea's special sexy day.

Chelsea wasn't sure if the storm caused the change, but the air seemed electrified with tension. Her skin tingled. Hunter's touch heightened that sensation. When the music finished playing, Chelsea turned her face up to his. "Let's go back."A small grin crossed his mouth as he lowered his head. His kiss was soft, but the electric tension was a promise of what was to come. They stood on the front porch of the main house, peering through the rain into darkness. "Race you home!" Chelsea yelled from her head start."Hey! You know it's pouring rain out, right?" Hunter asked as he matched her pace. The cool rain splashed against her face and body, drenching her clothing and skin, but Chelsea didn't mind. She'd never felt more alive, more aware of herself than she did at that moment. The forest smelled fresh and wet as she inhaled. The path was wet, but not too slippery. She stopped and removed her shoes."One of us is crazy." Hunter grabbed her and pressed his lips on hers. Rain streamed down their faces and rolled off their hair, but they were unaware of it. They could only focus on the kiss. That simple pressing of two people's lips lit a fire deep inside both their souls. A fire that would demand passionate and all-consuming attention to satisfy it.Chelsea broke free and with the wild abandon of a young girl she raced to the cabin as if floating on air. Hunter stood beside her on the porch; his shirt plastered to his skin. He reached up and released her hair. She shook her head and let her hair loosely hang around her face.

What people are saying about A Guy and A Girl

Who can resist a sexy star hockey player with secrets...not many especially the coaches daughter. This story has hot and steamy along with psycho exes and crazy best friends trying to mess things up. Even after battling exes and boyfriends, hospital stays and a long distance relationship he has to overcome the secret of his past so they can move forward. Highly recommend this book.
There were plenty of plot twists and turns, which made the story very exciting. I didn't like the villains, so they were written very well. I loved Chelsea and Hunter and the way their romance built as they overcame each obstacle.

Is it even daylight then? From A Guy and A Girl on #FridaySnippets

A snippet from my NA contemporary hockey romance - A Guy and A Girl

Scene set - Hunter attends his first college class at a new college. A girl in class caught his eye.

The class shuffled books and papers then wandered out of the room. Hunter stopped in front of a vending machine, pulled a handful of change from his pocket and dropped it into the slot. The girl from class paused at the coffee dispenser next to him. "OJ at this hour of the day? Oh, that rhymed."Hunter chuckled, as his gaze scanned her long lean torso and tanned legs."Don't you need something a little stronger? I know I do." She pressed Coffee. Black."Unfortunately, this isn't early for me. I've been up since six-fifteen." He kept his gaze fixed on her while he removed the cap and chugged half the orange juice."6:15." She shuddered. "Is it even daylight then?" She sipped her steaming coffee."This time of year, yeah.""I hope I never see that hour."Hunter fumbled with his drink, caught it, then laughed before wiping his lip. "I know what you mean. It isn't my decision to be up that early. Do you know where 136 is?""Follow me. I'm Chelsea.""Nice name." He held out his hand. "Hunter." When she offered hers, he gripped it. Her tiny fingers were dwarfed by his, her skin smooth and soft. The top of her head didn't quite reach his shoulder. He had to fight to keep from losing himself in her smile.Together they walked towards the seminar room. Chelsea glanced sideways at him. "I take it you're new?"He nodded. "Did Professor Campbell—""Like the soup company.""Like the soup company. Go from Mr. Grumpy to Mr. Nice-guy? Or did I miss something?""No. The man took a sharp turn to the left. Speaking of which." She pointed to an open door. The tables in the seminar room were set up in a square with students seated around. Yes. Two seats, side by side. Play it cool, dude. Hunter pulled out a chair for Chelsea then settled next to her.
