This is it. The last snippet until Sept. Have a safe summer, everyone. And Happy Writing. :-)

Scene set - Julie's drunk date, Chris has gotten overly aggressive. She bit him to stop his attack.

Chris touched his lip then raised his hand.Julie shut her eyes and threw her arms up to block his hit."She asked you to stop."At the sound of the unexpected voice, Julie opened one eye.Robert stood in front of Chris blocking his way. He glanced over his shoulder and asked, "Ya ok?"She nodded. Her throat was too dry to allow her to speak. He pointed to a spot by a tree and said, "Good. Move."

Blurb – One born into privilege and a charmed life surrounded by love and family. The other born to a life of violence on the streets as the solemn gang leader of the notorious Shoresmen. A young, idealistic co-ed, Julie, meets a jaded, cold gang member, Robert, and cracks his icy shell, allowing the warmth of her love to awaken his soul.
Exclusively at – AMAZON

5 Stars - I loved the cover, as well as the story. I liked the school setting, and the description in the beginning of Julie and her friends. Julie is the dreamer, searching for a happy ending. I also liked Robert, who is a "bad boy" gang leader. "from the wrong side of the tracks," etc. One of Julie's relatives says he has a heart of gold, and he does. He's smart and practical and I think he's great.

Come and Get My Sexy - From Circles Interlocked #MySexySaturday #MSS143

This is my last My Sexy Saturday post until September. Decided to enjoy summer.

from my contemporary romance - Circles Interlocked

Scene set - It is getting closer to Julie and Robert's wedding date. He spent the evening with his best friends and their sons watching a Little League baseball game.

He didn't want to go home. It was dark and lonely. He hated being alone. When he was at the cabin, it was perfect, but back here in civilization he needed the company of other humans. He'd asked Julie to move in with him, but she refused. He wouldn't pressure her. He'd respect her wishes. He missed her.Without bothering to turn on the bedroom light Robert peeled off his mustard-covered shirt. Terry had dropped his hot dog when Adam caught the line drive. He peeled off his soda pop soaked pants. Randy hit Terry's arm and knocked his drink down Robert's front. His socks were wet from the pop running down his leg. Sighing he pulled off his underwear, wet also from one very large, very cold drink."Why don't you come to bed dressed like that?"A smile broke across Robert's face as he turned. Julie's silhouette was illuminated from the light in the bathroom. They crossed the room from opposite sides and climbed on the bed. He slid his hand up her bare back and kissed the end of her nose. "The dance studio," he said."Yes, what about it?""No, that's its name, The Dance Studio. That's what you've been calling it.""The Dance Studio." Julie smiled. "I like it. Now shut up and make love to me."

Having been betrayed by the man she assumed she was destined to be with forever; Julie Anderson slapped Robert Holiday in an angry ending to their brief love affair. Heartbroken that her love affair didn't end with the fairy tale Happily Ever After, Julie leaves town to pursue her dream of being a dancer. As fate has a curious sense of humor, eight years later, they wake up in bed together. Now it is up to love to fix what time cannot mend.Amazon Print

What are Five of My Favourite Things? #ThursdayThoughts

These are a few of my Favourite things...
Did you start singing the song from Mary Poppins :-)

My favourite thing is palm trees. I have a saying - any day you can hug a palm tree is a good one.  I live in Canada - we don't have palm trees. So if I am near one - then I am on vacation and that's a good thing.

My favourite food is chocolate. What else needs to be said.

dechocolate.net

My favourite pet is Licorice. She's a feral kitten we've taken in after she was abandoned by her mother.

My favourite song is Moonlight Sonata. I love the passion of this song. He wrote for the love of his life who didn't love him. She loved her husband.

And my favourite colour is purple. Always has been. Don't know why. I just do.

There - now you know what 5 of my favourite things are. So your day is now complete :-)

Why was it so strange Darcy couldn't read the message? From Red Tulip on Book Hooks #MFRWhooks #MFRWAuthor,

From my quirky little flash fiction romance- Red Tulip

A large part of me hoped Shamus would be standing there, waiting for me to step into his arms. The logical part knew he was gone. Still, my gaze swept the floor.I think my feet were moving before my eyes figured out what I was looking at. A crumpled paper lay caught in the doorway. Forcing my heart to keep beating, I reached for it and inched it out of its trap. Turning the paper over, I cast my gaze across it and gasped. It read: Thairiscint tulips agus mo chroi i dearg mé mar bhronntanais.

Blurb - Darcy O'Calahann, a junior gardener from a small mid-western town, is trying to make her way in the big city.Shamus McTavis is a wealthy bachelor with a mysterious family past. Are Darcy's eyes playing tricks on her? Is she losing her mind? Or is there really a Red Tulip tying her and Shamus together?

Katie Nimmo's new release - Evergreen Copse #mystery

EVERGREEN COPSE BY KATIE NIMMO
Genre: Mystery / CrimeRelease Date: May 2015A long kept state secret is at risk of being discovered. False identities reveal their true colours as the hunt turns to Evergreen Copse.

As the deaths increase it becomes clear that no one is safe. But from whom are they all running? Amazon UK Amazon US Barnes & Noble
EXCERPTRobin and Co. Business Associates sat on the second out of four floors in a fire station turned office building in the town of Baxden. Consisting of just three rooms the 'Robin' floor was small, but adequate for its needs. A moderate sized reception room welcomed all visitors with a pine desk sat facing the main door. Including a potted plant on the right hand side to lighten up the so called dreary environment. A coffee machine was also attached to the wall next to four rather tired looking chairs, a little like a doctor's waiting room. At the rear of the reception two separate doors led off to two small offices, each identical in size right down to the radiator being in exactly the same place. Mr Harold Robin, chair of the company, inhabited the office on the left and his associate, Mr Percy Brumpton, the one on the right. A system devised purely out of the fact that Brumpton was Robin's right hand man, so naturally he had the office on Robin's right hand side.To look outside the office windows didn't hold any amusement. Staring out at a brick arch which marked the entrance to the courtyard in front of the building, and nothing else. Appearance clearly not taken into consideration during its construction, the area within the arch was a very sordid place to come to.  Through that brick arch a tall, gangly looking man tiptoed through the courtyard blowing his nose into his handkerchief as he went. Bernard felt that the January weather had been very unkind to him so far that year. He couldn't cope with the cold and detested having a wet handkerchief in his pocket all day. Bernard's short brown hair did nothing to keep his head warm so his grey and blue bobble hat did that for him, though it really didn't match his shirt and tie. Since climbing out of his old car he knew straight away he should have bought a new coat. Muttering to himself such things as the icy wind bit in to his thin and inadequate office clothing. Quickening his pigeon like pace he padded over to the office building, shivering as he went, thinking dreamily of the inviting coffee machine that was near his desk upstairs.  Removing his batch of keys from his pocket he fumbled for the correct one to open the outer door, his hands being numb making it difficult to get the key in the lock. A grunt of satisfaction announced the key was in the lock and the white plastic door was opened. Springing through the door Bernard closed the door a little more forcefully than needed to make sure the cold stayed where it was. Outside. He could already imagine the smell of the hot coffee that awaited him upstairs. Crossing the lobby he untangled another key to open up the post box sat adjacent to the stairs. "Bill, bill, bill and..." He paused as he ripped open the fourth envelope with his finger. "Junk mail." With a sigh he reclosed the post box and started up the four sets of stairs. Reaching the Robin floor Bernard was slightly out of breath. Three years gone and he still wasn't used to all these stairs, he thought to himself. On arrival at the office door Bernard clumsily dropped his keys and his tie fell to the floor as he bent to pick them up. It wasn't the first time he had forgotten to do up his tie and it probably wasn't the last. The door swung open with a nasty squeak and the smell of papers and coffee hit Bernard's nose. Smiling to himself he headed straight to the coffee machine and asked it to make him a white coffee. Dropping the boring post onto the desk Bernard started to reattach his tie around his neck."Good morning Bernard." A voice came with the familiar squeak of the front door. He knew that voice anywhere, at least he should after three years."Good morning to you Mr Robin." He replied with a little nod of his head, a half nod as his hands worked around his tie."I really think you should find somewhere else to hide that key." Mr Robin laughed, noting a small key on the reverse of Bernard's tie. Removing his coat Bernard promptly took it and hung it on the coat stand in the corner of the room. "Safest place is where I hide it, sir. An intruder would have to strangle me with my own tie before I let them take it. Can I make you a coffee sir?" Picking up his own coffee he placed it on the reception desk out of sight from any would be visitors."Sounds like a very good idea to me, the usual please." Mr Robin departed into his office and dropped his newspaper in front of him. Feeling a chill he glanced over at his window, single glazing never kept the room very warm. He contemplated putting his coat back on."Your coffee, sir." Bernard entered with a cup that was steaming. "Thank you Bernard, just what I need. That chill has really picked up this morning. Which reminds me, I didn't see your coat on the stand? Don't tell me you came in like that." Robin looked enquiringly at Bernard, already knowing the answer before he spoke."Yes, sir. You see, sir." Bernard stammered, trying to think of a reason instead of giving the real reason he didn't have his coat."She locked you out didn't she?" Robin asked with an arched eyebrow."Yes, sir." Bernard replied facing the floor. "Didn't pay my rent in time, sir. I didn't have the money for my rent so," he paused. "She took my coat, sir."Robin erupted into laughter, the look on Bernard's face making him worse. "Oh Bernard, that's the best thing I've heard in quite a while. Your landlady is certainly a piece of work isn't she?" Chuckling to himself he reached into his top drawer. "Now, I look after you Bernard. Like you do for me, so I'll tell you what I'll do." He looked up at Bernard, he was wearing a very confused face."I want you to take this cheque and get yourself a new coat when you go to pay the bills this morning. Take some extra time, not too long mind, but get yourself a coat on me.""Thank you, sir. That's very kind." Half smiling Bernard stamped his feet together with a full nod and left the room. Mr Robin smiled after Bernard as picked up his steaming coffee to warm up his hands. Taking a sip of his drink he heard voices out in the reception area, he gathered Percy had arrived.

How much trouble is Julie in? From Dancing in Circles on Weekend Writing Warriors #8Sunday

Link back to Weekend Writing Warriors - www.wewriwa.com
This week and next are my last two Sundays then I'm taking the summer off - away from Weekend Writing Warriors - but I will be back in September.

Scene set -Julie's drunk date, Chris, is getting aggressive.

He pinned Julie to his car with his leg as he wrestled with her blouse. A button popped off."Christopher. Stop it!" Cold fear filled her.
His lips slobbered against her mouth. The combination of aftershave, stale smoke and beer nauseated her. She bit him. Chris pulled back in surprise. "You little bitch."

What's better than death according to Julie? #MySexySaturday #MSS142

Well, you got me on a spaceship post- only thing that is sort of similar is Julie's first ride on Robert's motorcycle. To her it went as fast a rocket.

From Dancing in Circles -

With a roar, the bike surged ahead. Julie decided being bold was better than dead. She squeezed his waist and buried her face into his back. Please don't let me die. I want to go back to school this afternoon.Robert glanced at Julie's arms, gripping tightly around his waist. He chuckled and said, "Don't worry. I won't let anythin' happen to ya."

He named his dog - what? From Red Tulip #FridaySnippets

From my quirky flash fiction romance - Red Tulip.
Scene set - Darcy is a junior gardener at a big city municipal garden (Think Central Park)

At work the next morning, Jacobs had already piled flats of annuals onto the gardener's cart. He pointed to it and mumbled something about flowerbeds by the lake. Communication skills weren't a top priority in Jacob's life. I tossed the duck feed onto the passenger's seat, grabbed my tools and drove off without a word.Ducks fed, I turned to the cart and lifted a flat of young pansies. I took one-step towards the flowerbed when something the size of a small elephant knocked me backwards onto my butt."Reginald. Stop."I glanced from the bright-eyed sheep dog to the scowling-faced man. "You named your dog Reginald?""Yes. I am so sorry. He gets excited near a body of water. I believe he thinks it's a big water bowl. May I offer you an apology on his behalf? And some assistance?"I placed the flat next to me on the ground, wiped my hands on my pants leg and reached up, grasping his outstretched hand. With a firm pull, he hoisted me to my feet. The force of the movement tumbled me forwards and I fell, face first, onto his chest. The sweet scent of Sandalwood filled my nose a moment before it was crushed against a firm chest.Placing one hand on the front of his jacket, I pushed backwards while covering my nose with the other. Praying blood didn't dribble down my chin, I sniffed trying to stem the tears trying to escape my eyes. I blinked twice then glanced up into a sapphire blue gaze. "I'm so sorry."He smiled. "No, you mustn't ask forgiveness." He placed his hand over his heart. "Again, I offer an apology for the rudeness of my dog.""But if your dog hadn't run into me then I wouldn't have had the pleasure of smashing my face onto your chest." I felt my eyebrows raised to my hairline as the heat of a blush burned my cheeks. I hadn't meant to let those words escape my traitor of a mouth. His deep chuckle was like sprinkles on ice cream. It made me giggle and filled me with a desire to run barefoot through a field of daisies."Do I know you?" I glanced at my feet then back at his ice blue eyes. "Sounds like a line, I know, but I feel somehow I've seen you somewhere."He shook his head. "If we had met before, I would never have forgotten such a beautiful essence."

Was it a success?? #shimmymob

I'd say it was a fabulous success. Our leader hasn't announced yet how much we raised, but people were putting big bills in the donation jar.
Here are some photos of our day at the Brockville Farmer's market.

To see more photos from around the world - go to Shimmymob.com. I am sure they are there. Or check out FB - ShimmyMob.  Your city may have had an event.
