International Bestselling Author Taylor Dawn (formerly writing as C.D. Taylor) began writing as an item to check off her bucket list. She resides in the southernmost part of Illinois, right on the mighty Mississippi river. She enjoys the quiet country life with her husband, son and the many farm animals that make up the rest of the family. Deciding that farm life was just a little too mundane, Taylor began writing romance and fantasy to liven things up, so far so good. Before starting her writing career, Taylor entered the field of cosmetology. When she isn't writing, she can usually be found sitting around a table making people laugh. She has always wanted to be a standup comic. She loves pulling practical jokes, dresses up in a costume every Halloween and believes that dancing is the key to a happy life (even if you aren't a good dancer). She believes that life shouldn't be taken too seriously, we will never get out alive anyway. More than anything, she is a kid at heart, she doesn't believe in bedtimes, eating everything on her plate, or having ice cream only for dessert. Her favorite quote is by Dr. Seuss..."Why fit in, when you were born to stand out." You can find Taylor at taylordawn-author.com Click here to add Torn Ends to your Goodreads TBR

What does Shamus offer Darcy? Quirky flash fiction romance - Red Tulip #FridaySnippets
From my quirky little flash fiction romance - Red Tulip
Scene set: Darcy - a junior gardener - has agreed to have dinner at Shamus' house. (which turned out to be a mansion) Reginald is his sheepdog.
"Darcy."I turned. Shamus extended his hand out to me. "I'd like to show you something."Steadying my hand, I reached out and grasped his. A tender warmth washed away my nervousness. For a brief moment, I felt as if I was home. As if I belonged there. How could I? I didn't even know this place existed.Shamus led me through the doorway and down a long hall. The wood flooring and paneling gleamed from meticulous care. Light tapping behind alerted me to move aside a second before Reginald, the excitable sheepdog, bounded up behind us. He sniffed my hand then walked along between us.Shamus stopped in front of a large oak door. He rested his fingers on it, glanced at me and smiled. "I would really like to say close your eyes, but I sense a bit of apprehension."Even though every one of my instincts screamed, I'll close my eyes when hell freezes over, I pasted a curious expression on my face and waited.Reginald sniffed and pressed against the door. Shamus turned the handle and pushed. As Reginald bounded through, a waft of moist earth tickled my nose. The sound of chirping birds delighted my ears. He opened the door, stepped inside and waited for me to enter. My heart jumped into my throat. Before me was the McTavis Conservatory. We'd studied it at horticultural school. I sputtered out the only thing I could think of. "You're that McTavis?""Yes.""The ones who own the biggest and most fabulous greenhouse complex in North America? If not the whole fuc…uh, world?" I ran my fingers through my hair. "The one any gardener would give their right arm to work in?"His laughter was joyful and deep. "Would you care to wander around?"I nodded. Embarrassingly so, I nodded so hard my whole body shook. For over an hour, I wandered among the flowers, oohing and aahing every five seconds. Jealousy mixed with envy filled my heart. The McTavis Conservatory gardener deeply loved the plants under his care. Not a dead leaf anywhere. Not a speckled mark from a mischievous bug. Just lush greenery and vibrant flowers filling the air with their heady aromas. In the fourth section, I edged around the table and gasped. "A Tacca Chantrieri?" My head swam. It couldn't be. One of the rarest plants, and in full bloom. My fingers ached to reach out and touch its dark blossom. His deep voice broke through my stupor. "I would like to offer you the position of assistant gardener."I blinked and shook my head. "What did you say?"He repeated his sentence and offered more explanation. "My offer is two-fold. Garry, my gardener, wants to retire in a few years and needs a protégé. I've watched you working at the city gardens. Flowers are your passion."I nodded. What else could I do? No words would form in my mind.
Blurb - Darcy O'Calahann, a junior gardener from a small mid-western town, is trying to make her way in the big city.Shamus McTavis is a wealthy bachelor with a mysterious family past. Are Darcy's eyes playing tricks on her? Is she losing her mind? Or is there really a Red Tulip tying her and Shamus together?

Mind puzzling question of the day on My Thoughts #mythoughts
On Thursdays I open my blog - to myself. My thoughts. My ramblings. My whatever.
So - as I was cleaning up a very tiny, but annoying problem in my kitchen, a question popped into my head - Why aren't there fruit flies in grocery stores?
http://www.johnsonpestcontrol.com/pes...They have a lot more fruit lying about than I do.
http://imgarcade.com/1/grocery-store-...No - I don't need to know what you are supposed to do to avoid them. I was in a hurry and I forgot.
No - I don't need advice on how to get rid of them. I've already set up little bowls of cider vinegar.
blogs.sacbee.comI just want to know why - when after 12 hours in my house the fruit flies on the bananas hatched and yet they were in the store for a couple of days before I grabbed a bunch. And yes it was the bananas. It's the only fruit that is left out. The cherries, cantaloupe, honeydew, apples, oranges and whatever else I bought yesterday are all in the fridge.
So that's today's strange little question.

What if I audition and fail? Julie worries on this week's Book Hooks #MFRWAuthor #MFRWhooks
From my contemporary NA romance - Dancing in Circles - Book 1 of Circles Trilogy.
Scene Set - Julie and Robert are horseback riding. It's the first time they've been alone together. Robert speaks first. (The fairy thing he's referring to - is the Sugar Plum Fairy from the Nutcracker Ballet.)
"It's not your parent's life. It's yours. Ya gotta do what's right for you. If ya don't try you'll never know if ya coulda been the fairy thing. If ya audition and don't get the job then you'll know ya ain't good enough, and ya can get on with your life."She bit her lip. "That's the problem.""What is?""What if I audition and fail?" Julie stared at her saddle.
Dancing in Circles. One born into privilege and a charmed life surrounded by love and family. The other born to a life of violence on the streets as the solemn gang leader of the notorious Shoresmen. A young, idealistic co-ed, Julie, meets a jaded, cold gang member, Robert, and cracks his icy shell, allowing the warmth of her love to awaken his soul.
Buy link - Dancing in Circles - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009PFNPMG
What people are saying 5 Stars - I loved the cover, as well as the story. I liked the school setting, and the description in the beginning of Julie and her friends. Julie is the dreamer, searching for a happy ending. I also liked Robert, who is a "bad boy" gang leader, "from the wrong side of the tracks," etc. One of Julie's relatives says he has a heart of gold, and he does. He's smart and practical and I think he's great.

How did Darcy meet Shamus? Red Tulip - quirky little flash fiction romance on Friday Snippets #FridaySnippets
From my quirky little flash fiction romance - Red Tulip
Scene set: Darcy is a junior garden in a big city. She has been seeing a mysterious older man. She is becoming concerned he may be stalking her. And a red tulip appears and disappears.
At work the next morning, Jacobs had already piled flats of annuals onto the gardener's cart. He pointed to it and mumbled something about flowerbeds by the lake. Communication skills weren't a top priority in Jacob's life. I tossed the duck feed onto the passenger's seat, grabbed my tools and drove off without a word.Ducks fed, I turned to the cart and lifted a flat of young pansies. I took one-step towards the flowerbed when something the size of a small elephant knocked me backwards onto my butt."Reginald. Stop."I glanced from the bright-eyed sheep dog to the scowling-faced man. "You named your dog Reginald?""Yes. I am so sorry. He gets excited near a body of water. I believe he thinks it's a big water bowl. May I offer you an apology on his behalf? And some assistance?"I placed the flat next to me on the ground, wiped my hands on my pants leg and reached up, grasping his outstretched hand. With a firm pull, he hoisted me to my feet. The force of the movement tumbled me forwards and I fell, face first, onto his chest. The sweet scent of Sandalwood filled my nose a moment before it was crushed against a firm chest.Placing one hand on the front of his jacket, I pushed backwards while covering my nose with the other. Praying blood didn't dribble down my chin, I sniffed trying to stem the tears trying to escape my eyes. I blinked twice then glanced up into a sapphire blue gaze. "I'm so sorry."He smiled. "No, you mustn't ask forgiveness." He placed his hand over his heart. "Again, I offer an apology for the rudeness of my dog.""But if your dog hadn't run into me then I wouldn't have had the pleasure of smashing my face onto your chest." I felt my eyebrows raised to my hairline as the heat of a blush burned my cheeks. I hadn't meant to let those words escape my traitor of a mouth. His deep chuckle was like sprinkles on ice cream. It made me giggle and filled me with a desire to run barefoot through a field of daisies."Do I know you?" I glanced at my feet then back at his ice blue eyes. "Sounds like a line, I know, but I feel somehow I've seen you somewhere."He shook his head. "If we had met before, I would never have forgotten such a beautiful essence."I raised one eyebrow. "Essence?""Your beauty extends beyond your flaming red hair, so neatly stuffed under that ball cap. And by the way, the Yankees? How cliché.""Cap's not mine. I found it in the shed."He performed a small bow. "Then all is forgiven. I have a proposal.""Really." I crossed my arms. "I've never been proposed to within the first five minutes of meeting a man."He reached out and grasped my hand. "I will save that proposal until at least I know your name.""Darcy." Again, my traitorous mouth spewed out information. "Darcy O'Calahan.""Pleasure to meet you, Darcy O'Calahan." He brushed his lips across the back of my hand. "Shamus McTavis."My knees weakened. A shiver slithered through me and I bit back a squeal. Scolding myself, I snapped myself out of whatever schoolgirl fantasy I was experiencing. "I, uh, really must get back to work.""Not until you agree to dine with me this evening. I will pick you up when your shift ends."Mutely, I nodded. "Until this evening. Come Reginald." He strolled up the path. His dog bounding along beside him.

A fun place that I and 1/2 the world has visited #vacation #summer
On Thursdays I open my blog - to myself. My thoughts. My ramblings. My whatever.
Niagara Falls - we've brought friends here who came from Belgium, Norway, Germany and Russia. Oh and even an American. It's a fun family oriented place to visit.
One word of warning - wear comfortable shoes! There is a lot of walking. I've noticed some exhausted women in high heel shoes. (Runners or flip flops)
View from our hotel room. What is there to do after you visit the Falls? A bunch of stuff.Clifton Hill - shop - games - House of Horrors :-) (See the hill. Remember the warning about not wearing high heels)
Just up the road from the Falls - the flower gardens at the horticultural gardens. Exquisite. I go home, look at my feeble attempts and sigh.
The Butterfly Conservancy is also right there. You could have a butterfly land on you. They weigh nothing. It's such an amazing thing. Another word of warning - please watch where you are walking - butterflies also land on the ground.
Anything else to do? Niagara on the Lake. MarineLand. Winery after winery after winery. Pick your own orchards - cherries, peaches, apples etc. The Welland Locks - fascinating!
If you can't afford Europe - go hit the Niagara region. And no - I don't work for the Niagara Regional Commission, I just love visiting the place.
Duh - there's also a casino.

Link Back to IWSG
Insecure Writer's Support Group created by Alex J. Cavanaugh
Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer's Support Group day. We share our thoughts - talk about our doubts and fears. Or we can offer a word of encouragement to others.
Co-hosts for this month are:
Yolanda Renee Tyrean Martinson Madeline Mora-Summonte LK Hill Rachna Chhabria Jeffrey Scott
My post for July came from a comment I made on a post in June. Murees Dupe wrote about being her own worst enemy and how nasty her critical voice can be. I commented that instead of an internal critic why can't we have an internal cheerleader.Pow. Brilliant idea. How do I get one????
Except at this moment my internal critic is saying - totally stupid idea. A cheerleader would just approve everything. Your writing would be horrid - full of cliches and so on.
To someone who might not know what I mean by internal critic - it's that voice in your head that criticizes every word you put on the page. It has the power to freeze your fingers and keep them from typing.
athenatrainingandconsulting.comMe - The cat is black.Critic - Really black? Of all the colours you chose black. Charcoal, much better option. And why not with stripes?Me - It's just a cat and it's black.Critic - Why not a stray? A panther. A feral feline.Me - Because the G.D. thing is a cat and it's black! Oh, forget it. ***Deletes sentence.***A cheerleader would be encouraging. "You can do it!" - sort of thing. With it behind you, words might just flow from your finger tips.
clipartbest.comMe - The cat....Cheerleader - Way to go. We've got a cat!!! More. More.Me - Okay, this is weird. The cat is black.Cheerleader - **does back handsprings** - We have a black cat. Yay! Go team Black Cat.Me - wipes sweat from brow. Whew. Now on to the next line.Cheerleader - The next line. The next line. You can dooooo it!What do you think? An internal critic or an internal cheerleader?
See the cat is black. Her name is Licorice.
NEW IWSG Day Feature! - JULY 6TH QUESTION: What's the best thing someone has ever said about your writing?
She had to stop reading because she was crying her eyes out and she was out of tissues and her nose was running and she had to find some more tissue. She did add she was totally out and ended up using toilet paper :-)
