Is Julie's date with Chris about to take a turn for the worse? Weekend Writing Warriors #8sunday

Link back to Weekend Writing Warriors - www.wewriwa.com

Scene set - Julie and her drunk date are about to leave the school dance.

From between parked cars, Chris staggered over. He dropped his keys, twice, then stood, holding them like the Statue of Liberty's torch. "And you thought I was to drive to drunk."Give me those." Julie reached for his keys."I'd rather give you something else." Chris pulled her tight against his body.Open mouthed, he leaned forward. She slapped her hands on his chest and pushed."Come on, what're you saving it for, your wedding night?" He asked as he reached under her skirt, groping for her butt.

Blurb – One born into privilege and a charmed life surrounded by love and family. The other born to a life of violence on the streets as the solemn gang leader of the notorious Shoresmen. A young, idealistic co-ed, Julie, meets a jaded, cold gang member, Robert, and cracks his icy shell, allowing the warmth of her love to awaken his soul.

5 Stars - I loved the cover, as well as the story. I liked the school setting, and the description in the beginning of Julie and her friends. Julie is the dreamer, searching for a happy ending. I also liked Robert, who is a "bad boy" gang leader. "from the wrong side of the tracks," etc. One of Julie's relatives says he has a heart of gold, and he does. He's smart and practical and I think he's great.

What Did Robert write in his letter to Julie? Circles Interlocked on #MySexySaturday #MSS141

From contemporary romance - Circles Interlocked - Julie receives this on her wedding day. It is from Robert. It is only the beginning of the letter - which is longer than 7 paragraphs :-)

If you're reading this then something went wrong and I guess I'm dead. Sorry. But that's only one more screw up to add to my list. I've messed things up a lot in this relationship. Why do people who should never be together fall in love?I should've never met you and I certainly shouldn't have fallen in love with you, but I did. I never stopped loving you once in the years we were apart. Telling you this now seems a little stupid, I guess I should've done it before I let you go back to Langston.

Circles Interlocked - Having been betrayed by the man she assumed she was destined to be with forever; Julie Anderson slapped Robert Holiday in an angry ending to their brief love affair. Heartbroken that her love affair didn't end with the fairy tale Happily Ever After, Julie leaves town to pursue her dream of being a dancer. As fate has a curious sense of humor, eight years later, they wake up in bed together. Now it is up to love to fix what time cannot mend.Amazon Print

What event is happening tomorrow - May 14 - in 202 countries? #bellydance

Shimmy Mob!!!!
An event where 2450 belly dancers in 202 different countries all perform the same belly dance routine to help raise funds and awareness about domestic abuse.
Each year, a choreography competition is held and one person's routine is chosen to be the dance everyone learns. This year it was Cat.

Cat Bruce
Cat started dancing at her grandmother's dance studio when she was 2½ years old. Taking ballet, tap and acrobatics, she progressed on point by age eight. She was teaching ballet babies when she was 11 and ran the Ruth Wood School of Dance at 16. She was clogging from age 8-18 dancing with her Mom and performed at Church Street Station. Cat performed in the Arabian Knights dinner show in 1997 and worked in entertainment at both Universal and Disney where she performed in their parades and shows.

In 2003, she fell in love with ATS (American Tribal Style). She joined the Blue Caravan Dance Troupe and, a year later, began dancing with Black V, a tribal fusion troupe, performing in both companies for over two years.

Cat can be seen every full moon at Drum circles in Orlando Florida. She is sure to be at Gulf Wars and Pennsic Wars teaching and dancing around the fire with her friends. Nor would she ever miss dancing at all Trimaris events where the drums are being played. Some highlights from her career:Shimmy Mob Orlando team leader for the past five yearsAmerican Tribal Style Sister Studio since 2011A Magi BellyDance Temple Certified Troupe Leader of Tribal Muses (ATS professional troupe)Troupe leader of Gyspy Flare (Tribal Fusion professional troupe)Yoga and Zumba certified you can get in touch with Cat through her website.

Belly dancers love fabulous costumes. What Cat is wearing in the photo above is a tribal style costume.
The photo below is more worn more in the style I study. BellyLady
But on May 14, we all wear the same t-shirt and black pants. We give up the bling for the cause - getting the word out that domestic violence is wrong and must end.
Each year our t-shirts are a different colour and while I know what this year's colour is - I can't tell you. You'll just have to drop in to a Shimmy Mob event near you and find out.
Here are two photos from previous years. Yes, I am one of the dancers, but I'm not going to tell you which one.

In the photo with the green shirts - the lovely, tall lady 2nd from the right - is our fearless leader - Karen. Kudos and hugs to her.

 Oh, by the way
Happy Friday the 13th

Spotlight on The Diary of Narcissa Dunn by Elaine Violette #romance #historicalromance

THE DIARY OF NARCISSA DUNNElaine Violette
Long hidden secrets discovered in an old diary could shatter Olivia's identity and destroy her family. Will it be its finder or a messenger from the grave who reveals its hidden truths?
Thank you for the kind invitation to tell your readers about my newest eBook, THE DIARY OF NARCISSA DUNN, to be released on May 1stand presently available for pre-sale on Amazon and KOBO.  When I first began writing novels, they were strictly British romances, always my favorite to read. Perhaps because I love to travel, I sent my heroine in my third book, A KISS OF PROMISE, on a harrowing journey across the ocean to Boston. In THE DIARY OF NARCISSA DUNN, the setting is 1800s New England and deals with societal issues as two men vie for the same woman for different reasons.  My inspiration for THE DIARY OF NARCISSA DUNN came from a morning walk in a cemetery. After reading a compelling and captivating epitaph on an old gravestone, I knew I had to write a novel based on the message.  No spoilers!  I hope readers will be captivated as well.
Blurb THE DIARY OF NARCISSA DUNN is a ghostly love story that combines historical romance with paranormal elements. Set in New England, pre-Civil War, the story reveals the complex relationship between a father and daughter as he attempts to control her future. When Olivia’s father tries to force her into an unwanted marriage, mysterious events occur, leaving the family on edge. Meanwhile, Benjamin Pratt, desperately in love with Olivia, discovers an old diary that exposes scandalous secrets. He becomes an unwilling messenger, torn between revealing truths that will shatter Olivia’s identity and destroy her family, or keep the secret and watch her marry another. Either way, he’s bound to lose her unless a mysterious woman intervenes.

How did the beautiful ending start? Circles Interlocked on Book Hooks #MFRWAuthor, #MFRWhooks,

From adult contemporary  Circles Interlocked -the beginning - Julie and Robert used to be lovers then they broke up - time passed - anger burned deep in Julie.

Five years - Julie hadn't seen or thought about him in all that time, and now in the middle of nowhere, he stood on the beach drying off from a swim. Droplets flew as Robert shook his hair. His black mane was shorter than the last time she saw him. The wet ends dripped water on his bare, muscular shoulders. Tricia, an old high school friend once said he had the body of a male stripper - time hadn't changed that.Julie stepped back onto the beach path, transfixed by the sight of the one person she hated. Her repulsion and loathing of him ran so deep; she'd repressed all memories of him. She thought he'd loved her, and had taken a chance, opening up her heart and body to him. But instead of returning her love, he proved himself worthy of the gutter from which he'd crawled.

Soon she risks her marriage to help Bruce find the truth about his past and solve the mystery of the brutal murders committed on his land. Will her love be enough to heal his haunted heart?Excerpt from SWORD DANCE
‘What are you doing? Please stop,’ she breathed, as his lips trailed along the curve of her throat.            If only he could... He looked up and the seductive power of her sultry, heavily made-up eyes gleaming in the moonlight hit him like a bolt of lightning. Every fibre of his body reacted to the feel of her soft body against his, the warm fragrance of her skin. She was right, though. What the hell was he doing? Once again he reminded himself that he had no right to feel that way, no right to want her, but damn it, the woman would tempt a saint. And he was no saint.           He swallowed a deep, hard breath, released her and made himself step back. ‘All right. We’ll stay here a while and wait until McRae and his remaining guests have gone to bed. Where’s your horse?’           ‘I left it tied to a post behind the hunting lodge.’          ‘What about your bag?’           ‘It’s still strapped to the saddle. By the time I spoke to the girls and the musicians, we had to get ready to come here.’          ‘How did you manage to get into the hunting lodge without being seen by McRae’s men?’          ‘It wasn’t easy. I got stuck as I sneaked in through one of the downstairs windows and ripped my - ’          ‘You got stuck?’ He would have laughed if he weren’t so angry.           ‘The musicians had to pull me in. We had to be quick and very quiet, because Cameron’s men were in the kitchen.’          Damn the woman. Didn’t she care about the danger she put herself in?    ‘So, after clambering through a window, you had the brilliant idea to disguise yourself as a dancer and throw yourself into the lion’s den.’          She flinched at the harshness of his tone. ‘I thought I could avoid bumping into Cameron.’          ‘You bump into everything and anything you come across, why not McRae?’ he interrupted, taut with temper. ‘He could have recognised you when you were with the others in the music room.’          ‘Then I would have confronted him and exposed him for the liar and the debauched rake he is in front of all his guests!’ The baubles on her necklace tinkled like little bells as she shook her head.          ‘Weren’t you afraid of all those men ogling you, lusting after you?’ Me included, he remembered, guilt tightening his chest.          ‘Well, I... I didn’t think I would have to dance. My plan was to get into the castle and hide until I could speak to Lady Sophia. Unfortunately, Cameron’s manservant was watching us like a hawk and I had no choice but to go into the music room with the others. The girls promised to create a diversion so that I could sneak out unnoticed.’          ‘A diversion? That’s a mild way of putting it,’ he sneered. ‘The girls’ dancing was... ahem... striking, to say the least. Ask that poor old man who collapsed.’ He drew in a deep breath. ‘Anyway, where did you learn to dance like that?’          She lowered her eyes, snapped a leaf from a nearby bush and tore it into tiny pieces that spiralled to the ground. ‘Malika taught me, in secret. She always said I was good enough to be one of them.’           She was right, her dancing had been entrancing, mesmerising, but he wasn’t going to tell her. ‘I still can’t believe you took such risks tonight, just to talk to McRae’s fiancée. It was stupid and foolhardy.’ And damned brave, too, even though he would never admit it. Gripped by conflicting urges, he towered above her, his fists clenched and his jaw set.

What are Julie's concerns about Robert? From Dancing in Circles on Weekend Writing Warrior #8Sunday

Link back to Weekend Writing Warriors - www.wewriwa.com

Scene set - Still fighting with her drunk date, Chris, about who is going to drive home, Julie waits by the car.

Chris wasn't at his car when Julie arrived in the parking lot. She pulled the handle but it was locked. Standing in the cool night air, she tapped her fingernails on the hood. Wonder where Tricia disappeared off to? Did she spend all that time with Robert? Did she let him get past kissing? Did they…no, not Tricia. She heaved a sigh of disgust. Where's Chris?
