Shiny Black Hardcovers

I realised on the weekend that I hadn’t yet shared the shiny* black hardcovers from the A Fox Of Storms And Starlight Fan Kits here yet.

*Shiny in value only, since they’re actually matt finish.

If you missed out on the Kickstarter but would still like to grab a Fan Kit, they’ll be up on the Inkprint Press website later this week. You also might want to keep an eye on the Inkprint Press Instagram feed (or Twitter, if you prefer), because there will be some hints there over the next w...

In Which Silence Does Not Condone

The blog is going to continue as usual over the next few weeks, but please don’t take the lack of reference to current world events as a lack of care or interest. I simply have nothing of value to add to the heartbreaking narratives of those whose voices deserve to be heard.

Black lives matter. Globally, unequivocally.

I politely request that no one come back with ‘all lives matter’. That is a grossly privileged, under-educated take on the matter, and if that’s your instinctive reaction,...

Made-It Monday: A Random Rose

Welcome to #MadeItMonday, where I post something I’ve made in the previous week, and where you can join in and post something you made too! The rules are easy: post a pic somewhere of something you’ve made in the last week (ish; let’s say in the last month as the hard-and-fast) and tag it. Sit back and enjoy scrolling through all the beautiful things we’ve collectively created, and celebrate the fact that humans can be awesome!

I’ve been doing quite a bit of drawing for the Inklets recently,...

I Regret Nothing

Spousal One and I rewatched the three Lord Of The Rings movies this week while doing homework etc after the kid have gone to bed. Naturally, as soon as That Line was uttered in The Two Towers, we had to pause the movie and look up the video below.

(Okay, okay, I admit it: *I* had to pause. But Spousal One did comment on the line, of course.)

(What’s That Line? Why, “They’re taking the hobbits to Isengard”, of course! :D)

Any old favourites you’ve been rewatching lately?

On Rhythms, And The Regaining Thereof

We have been almost implausibly lucky here in Australia, and we are starting to ease our way out of shutdown. Gatherings of up to 20 will be permitted again as of the weekend, some cafes and whatnot are reopening for seated dining as long as strict social distancing is maintained (one person per 4 square meters IIRC), and most schools across the country will be back full time as of next week. So life is slowly inching its way back toward some form of normality.

To those of you still in the t...

Welcome to #MadeItMonday, where I post something I’ve made in the previous week, and where you can join in and post something you made too! It’s a cake! I haven’t done a cake in a good long while, so when...

When You Really Want To Create Something, But Just… Can’t.

I had a question about this from a student this week, and since I went to all the effort of typing out a long response, I thought I’d share it here too in case anyone else finds it useful

Last Few Hours Of Fox Book Kickstarter

The Kickstarter closes in about 4 hours, so this is the last chance to jump in! Great chance for a bargain for $6AU you get ebooks of A Fox Of Storms And Starlight, How Not To Acquire A Castle, Dreaming Of Forests, and four Inklets, plus a letter from moi.

I know Ive said it before, but I cannot BELIEVE how well this campaign has done. I was hoping hard with very crossed fingers that there might be ten people interested in Fan Kits; as of writing this, there are 30. I am so, so grateful,...
