Made-It Monday: Inklet Covers!
Welcome to #MadeItMonday, where I post something I’ve made in the previous week, and where you can join in and post something you made too! The rules are easy: post a pic somewhere of something you’ve made in the last week (ish; let’s say in the last month as the hard-and-fast) and tag it. Sit back and enjoy scrolling through all the beautiful things we’ve collectively created, and celebrate the fact that humans can be awesome!
Super pleased to have finalised all the covers for next year’s I...

Zero Days, And The Necessity thereof
I read this Tumblr post on Pinterest yesterday morning. Someone was trying to be motivating, starting with ‘Never have a zero day; read one page, or write one line’ etc etc.
And I was like, You know what? Screw this. I’m having a zero day.
It’s been a busy term (term three seems to always be busiest at this school), and our family has had an unusually proportion of Very Emotionally Intense Events throughout August/September.
And then I had a major editing project that I was already l...

The Inbestigators Is Actually The Best
What are you watching lately? Hubs & I are making our way through Cobra Kai and I am loving it with glorious, unashamed glee.
Mr 8 introduced the fam to The Inbestigators yesterday, and I am also loving and adoring this. It’s a group of kids in Year 5 (second last year of primary school in Australia) who turn themselves into a detective agency and solve mysteries around school and around town. It’s cute, it’s adorable, it’s funny and I’m finding it infinitely watchable. Winning all round! Ya...

In Which My Sense Of Time Is Abominable And I Ramble
Ermagersh. I had Tuesday off work for a family funeral (anticipated, though still sad), and spent all day yesterday thinking it was Thursday for reasons undiscernible. Further compounding my confusion is that it’s spring break here in Aus next week for two weeks, and there’s a long weekend for the non-school folk in the middle, and it’s the time of year where I’m so deep into planning for next year that I keep having to stop and consciously ascertain whether it’s 2021 yet or if it’s still 2020. ...

Title Announcement & Cover Reveal!
Woo hoo! My Q4 title for 2020 is official: it’s a flash fiction anthology called It All Changes Now, and it’ll be out in late November. Scroll to the end for the cover reveal and a question for you, or read on for more info…
“Flash fiction” means stories under 1500 words or under 1000 words depending on which definition you use; this anthology has sixteen stories that are each under 1200 words.
I had a HUGE blast putting this together. It was really liberating to be able to really play w...

OMG, From The Ground Up Saga Is OVER
Oh wow.
Oh.
Wow.
Guys?
The From The Ground Up saga is over. And I am so pleased, and relieved, and excited. I could never have envisaged the journey that this one-book-which-became-three would go on back in 2012 when I first submitted the proposal for it, but now here we are, almost exactly eight years later, and It. Is. Finished.
If you want to refresh yourself on the saga of Getting This Book Into Print, see this 2018 post here, or search the tag fgu or From The Ground Up o...
