New Inklet! A Wolf For Christmas
Inklets are a collection of unrelated short science fiction and fantasy stories published by Inkprint Press on the 1st and the 15th of every month. See the whole collection here.
The 15th has passed, at least here in Aus-land! WHOA. GUYS. I’m not quite sure how it’s nearly the end of the 2020 already, despite the fact that the year has also been ten years long??? Time is weird in my head at the best of times (chronology, what is it even), but this year has really screwed with my ability to j...

The Impressions You Leave Behind You (Repost)
Reposting from August last year, because it’s been a year now since I lost all four of my grandparents, plus had an uncle diagnosed with pancreatic cancer (he’s since passed away as well). And, IDK, this felt like a timely reminder.
My Nana passed away in the night.
I wasn’t extremely close to her, so I’m more grieving for my mum’s sake, but regardless, I am sad.
On the way in to drop my son off to school this morning, it was raining. The ground was wet.
On the way back out, I n...

Made-It Monday: Snake Cake!
Welcome to #MadeItMonday, where I post something Ive made in the previous week, and where you can join in and post something you made too! The rules are easy: post a pic somewhere of something youve made in the last week (ish; lets say in the last month as the hard-and-fast) and tag it. Sit back and enjoy scrolling through all the beautiful things weve collectively created, and celebrate the fact that humans can be awesome!
I feel like I had something else to post here today that wasnt cake,...

In Which There Is No Off Switch For Caution (A Retitled Repost)
Sometimes, youre thinking about a thing because of life circumstances and all (in this case, teaching feminist critical literary theory to a class last week), and you feel like maybe you should go write it all down and figure it all out somehow And then you stumble across something that makes you realise, actually, youve done this all before.
(I do this when Im writing, too; Ill have an epiphany about something that a particular scene needs, and will go back to add it in, only to discover it...

Kickstarter Still Live For One More Week! Free Stories etc.
Welp, one more week to go on the Kickstarter for Rush Job and Trust Issues, huzzah! It’s fully funded, which means that if you pledge for a reward, you’ll be charged on Dec 10, receive your digital goodies on Christmas Eve, and get your physical rewards (if you picked any) in early 2021. Included in that is a free short story, and a very early copy of Rush Job, which doesn’t come out until Feb 16, but which you can be reading as early as Dec 24! Even the print copies will go out in Jan (unless y...

Oh Hey, That’s Exciting! A List Of Random Exciting Stuff(tm)
So I found out yesterday that How Not To Acquire A Castle has been shortlisted for the ACT Publishing Awards for 2020 for Best Fiction? How exciting!! Apparently I only have until Friday to wait for the results, so that’s also much excite.
In other things-which-are-exciting, I think I neglected to mention here that I was selected as a judge for the Aurealis Awards this year? I’m one of the panel members for the fantasy novella division, which means I have a huge stack of shiny fantasy novell...
