Washington Tsunami 'Warning': Live Map, Tracker & Arrival Times
Is there a tsunami warning for Washington state on July 29-30?

The National Weather Service wrote on July 30 that the tsunami advisory “remains in effect for the coastal areas of Oregon, Washington and British Columbia from the Oregon/Cal. Border to the BC/Alaska border."
Tsunami advisories “mean that a tsunami capable of producing strong currents or waves dangerous to persons in or very near the water is expected or is already occurring. Why HBO Max May Lose Sports and CNN in Warner Bros. Discovery Shake-Up
Warner Bros. Discovery is breaking in two, and the split could leave HBO Max subscribers without some of the platform’s most-watched content. Under a sweeping corporate restructure set to take effect in 2026, the media giant will divide into two separate companies: Warner Bros. and Discovery Global.
The move will reshuffle where many of WBD’s properties land, reported. HBO Max, Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Studios, and Warner Bros. Television will stay under the Warner Bros. banner. Meanwhile, Discovery Global will become home to CNN, TNT Sports, Discovery+, Food Network, HGTV, Animal Planet, and the Bleacher Report.
Streaming, RebalancedThe shake-up is designed to separate WBD’s big-budget studio content from its legacy cable and live entertainment properties. However, it also means that premium sports broadcasts and breaking news—such as NBA games on TNT or live CNN specials—may disappear from HBO Max in the U.S.
While nothing is finalized, signs indicate that CNN and TNT Sports content will shift entirely to Discovery Global’s streaming platforms, including Discovery+ and a planned standalone CNN service, launching later this year. That could fragment streaming even further, leaving subscribers with more apps to juggle if they want all the content they used to find in one place.

What It Means for SubscribersFor now, HBO Max will continue to feature some sports and news content. A spokesperson confirmed that TNT Sports will remain on HBO Max when it launches in the UK in 2026. But for U.S. users, that future looks less certain.
If the split goes as planned, it will mirror similar moves by other media giants like Comcast, which is spinning off NBCUniversal’s cable assets into a new company. In both cases, the goal is to streamline core offerings while reducing financial strain from declining cable revenue.
For consumers, though, the result may feel like déjà vu—another change to where and how you stream your favorite shows, sports, and news. And just like past reshuffles, it’s likely to come with new logins, added costs, and more decisions about what’s worth subscribing to next.

Jeremy Renner Says He’s ‘Sure’ He’ll Return for 'Hawkeye' Season 2
Marvel’s sharpshooting superhero may not have been a name linked to the 2026 film Avengers: Doomsday, but he’s far from hanging up the bow and arrow for good.
While there was some doubt cast over the potential for Hawkeye Season 2, star Jeremy Renner has reignited a spark of excitement among Marvel fans with his latest comments. Beyond that, Renner also spoke about the potential for his character, Hawkeye, to return in other MCU projects in the future as well.
While speaking with Empire during a recent interview, Renner stated that he's getting his body "ready" for a return to the superhero role and admitted he's "sure" they'll end up doing Season 2 of Hawkeye.

“I’m always happy to be in that world, man. I love all those guys, I love the character,” Renner said. “I’m sure we’ll end up doing Season 2 [of ‘Hawkeye’], and do other things. And I’m happy to do it. My body’s getting ready for something like that. I don’t know if anybody wants to see me in tights, but my body will look good in the tights.”
After a terrifying snowmobile accident in 2023, Renner stated that he's recovered "more than 150 percent" and can handle the workload that comes along with the lofty Marvel roles.
It's excellent news for both Marvel fans and those who enjoyed Hawkeye Season 1, which featured Renner alongside Hailee Steinfeld, who portrayed Kate Bishop.
While there's no specific timeline for Hawkeye Season 2, or any specifics on Renner's return to the character in an upcoming Marvel project, the wheels are at least turning a bit now. There's also the possibility that he could land in Avengers: Doomsday, or the 2027 follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars.

TSA Faces a Problem With One Form of ID
Earlier this year, the TSA officially moved forward with a high-profile change, requiring all passengers to have a REAL ID-compliant form of identification when they go through the security checkpoint at the airport. However, the TSA now seems to have a pretty significant problem with a form of identification it claims to accept.
The REAL ID Act was originally passed by Congress in 2005 to “set standards for the issuance of sources of identification, such as driver's licenses and identification cards.” While it took about two decades to be officially implemented, the TSA officially began requiring identification that complied with REAL ID standards on May 7, 2025.
For most travelers, the changes meant that they would either have to make sure their driver's license was compliant with REAL ID standards or use their passport.
The TSA did list a number of alternatives, though:
State-issued Enhanced Driver's License.U.S. passport.U.S. passport card.U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) trusted traveler cards (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST).U.S. Department of Defense ID, including IDs issued to dependents.Permanent resident card.Border crossing card.An acceptable photo ID issued by a federally recognized Tribal Nation/Indian Tribe, including Enhanced Tribal Cards (ETCs).HSPD-12 PIV card.Foreign government-issued passport.Canadian provincial driver's license or Indian and Northern Affairs Canada card.Transportation worker identification credential.U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Authorization Card (I-766).U.S. Merchant Mariner Credential.Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC).However, the TSA seems to be having a pretty significant issue with one of those forms of identification that it states complies with REAL ID standards.
While a tribal ID card is recognized by the U.S. federal government and is on the TSA’s list of acceptable forms of identification, The Travel highlighted several Reddit users who have reported problems using their tribal ID at the airport.
In many cases, the traveler is told that the tribal ID isn't valid, and the TSA agent requests another form of identification.
"The last few times I have flown I have presented TSA with my federally recognized tribal ID, and have been told it isn’t valid. Every time, they swipe the ID look at the screen and tell me “nothing is popping up”. And force me to use another ID. Per the TSA guidelines and from the tribal list, my ID should be accepted and Real ID compliant. Any recommendations or guidance here? Note: this is all for US domestic flights, no international travel/arrival," One Reddit user said in a post.
It's worth noting that the TSA seemingly confirmed this problem on the "Tribal and Indigenous" page of its website, where it confirms that tribal cards are indeed an acceptable form of identification, but acknowledged that these IDs may not be able to be scanned with technology.
"TSA accepts IDs from Federally recognized Tribes. If your ID cannot be scanned by technology, you will be asked for a secondary ID that can be scanned. If you do not have a second ID, your Tribal ID will be inspected manually and cross-referenced with the Federal Register."
This is a valid explanation as it indicates that the problem lies with technology rather than the agency simply refusing to accept a form of identification it claims is acceptable. However, it is still a pretty major problem that the TSA and its technology seems to be unable to recognize a federally accepted form of identification that its own policies claim complies with REAL ID standards.
After making such a big deal about making sure everyone complies with the new REAL ID standards just a few months ago, it's pretty baffling that the TSA seems unprepared to accept a form of identification that complies with those standards.
NFL Star Was Starstruck by Taylor Swift
Global pop sensation Taylor Swift has been around the NFL for a couple of years now after she began dating Kansas City Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce during the early part of the 2023 season. But even though her presence has been normalized a bit around the league, some players still get starstruck.
During a recent radio interview on “The Sweet Spot” on Sportsradio 96.7 FM/1310 The Ticket (KTCK-AM), Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson opened up a little bit about a time when he met Taylor Swift earlier this summer.
Ferguson recalled meeting the pop sensation alongside his fiancée, college basketball star and social media influencer Haley Cavinder.
The two got the opportunity to meet Taylor at a celebratory concert at Travis Kelce and George Kittle’s Tight End University summer camp back in June.
Needless to say, Ferguson was a little bit starstruck, sending a six-word message on the meeting with the pop sensation: "I still haven't washed my hand."
“I shook her hand,” Ferguson said on the show, via The Dallas Morning News. “I still haven’t washed my hand.”
Swift is obviously one of the most famous and recognizable individuals on the planet, but Ferguson was struck by the fact that she was so down-to-earth and "normal."
“She’s so normal,” Ferguson explained. “She met my fiancée, my fiancée was like, ‘She’s so nice!’ Not that I was expecting anything different, but like, she knew football. She was talking like, ‘We [the Chiefs] got a big game at Cowboys this year!’”
The Kansas City Chiefs are indeed set to take on the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington this upcoming season in a highly anticipated Thanksgiving Day matchup.
Given Swift's excitement about the matchup and her tendency to support Kelce from the stands, there's a good chance she will be in attendance for the matchup.
Ryne Sandberg, 1st Wife Cindy Had 2 Kids Together
Baseball Hall of Famer and Chicago Cubs legend Ryne Sandberg died of cancer on July 28, 2025 at age 65, according to the Associated Press.
Team Chairman Tom Ricketts said Sandberg is remembered by the Cubs as "one of the all-time greats in nearly 150 years of this historic franchise.”
Sandberg played for the team from 1982 through 1994, briefly retired for a year and then came back for 1996 and 1997 before retiring for good.
He wrote in his book, Second to Home, that his first retirement was because of his poor performance on the field as well as poor team management at the time, and that his personal life had nothing to do with the decision.
But the truth is, Sandberg was going through a rough patch with his family, according to a 1996 Sports Illustrated article.

Sandberg was in the midst of a custody battle with his high school sweetheart Cindy, whom he had two children with, in 1996, according to SI.
Sandberg and Cindy married in 1979 when they were both 19 after he asked her to visit him during his first full season in professional baseball, and then asked her never to leave. They married shortly after and didn't immediately inform their parents.
They officially divorced July 5, 1995. Sandberg married his second wife, Margaret, the next month.
Cindy had filed for divorce in December 1993, six months before Sandberg's retirement and the pair reconciled days later. But she filed for divorce a second and final time roughly in June the next year, days after Sandberg officially quit.
Court documents show Sandberg was miserable and lonely while touring with the Cubs, away from his children, and he knew his marriage was headed for divorce, according to SI.
In the courtroom during the custody battle, Cindy also said Sandberg wasn't telling the whole truth in his book about why he quit.
"He retired to be with the children," she said, according to SI.

Their children are Justin and Lindsey, and Cindy in court said Sandberg preferred to keep them away from the ballpark so they wouldn't grow up as "baseball brats."
Sandberg changed his preference during his second marriage. His second wife Margaret had three children of her own, all of whom knew Justin and Lindsey before they married.
"I just want my kids to experience me enjoying baseball, so we're all going to do this together," Sandberg said.
The ruling on the custody battle is sealed, so it's unclear how much time Cindy and Sandberg each got with their kids, but Sandberg told SI he was happy with the outcome, noting their chance to see him play again at Wrigley Field.
"They'll be with me Opening Day in Chicago," he said. "They'll be up for the weekend. They'll have to miss at least one day of school."
By the end of his career, Sandberg had a remarkable trophy cabinet, winning nine Gold Glove Awards, seven Silver Slugger Awards, the 1990 Home Run Derby, a National League MVP award and playing in 10 All-Star Games, according to Baseball Reference.
The Cubs retired his jersey, No. 23, in 2005 after he was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame.
Didarul Islam: Slain NYPD Officer Leaves Behind Pregnant Wife, 2 Kids
Didarul Islam was named as the New York police officer who was shot and killed by a gunman who entered a Park Avenue skyscraper in New York City on July 28.
"Police Officer Didarul Islam represented the very best of our department. He was protecting New Yorkers from danger when his life was tragically cut short today," the NYPD wrote in a statement.
The slain officer leaves behind two kids and a wife who is eight months pregnant, reported the New York Post, which identified the officer through sources. He was then formally identified by police officials in a news conference.
The gunman, named by authorities as Shane Devon Tamura, 27, of Las Vegas, was dead at the scene of the mass shooting. The NYPD confirmed his death in a statement.

Tamura was armed with an AR-15-style rifle on July 28 when he walked into a Midtown Manhattan skyscraper and began firing, killing Islam, three other individuals, and critically wounding a fifth person, New York officials said during a press conference.
The mayor says Officer Didarul Islam was 'saving lives'The slain officer, a Bangladeshi immigrant, was a three-and-a-half-year veteran of the police department and was working in the Park Avenue building in a private security role, New York Mayor Eric Adams said at a news conference.
The building contained the headquarters of the NFL and a company called Blackstone.
“He was saving lives. He was protecting New Yorkers,” Adams said of the murdered police officer. “He embodies what this city is all about. He’s a true blue New Yorker, not only in a uniform he wore.”
According to the Post, Islam "had been on the force since December 2021 and worked out of the 47th precinct in the Bronx."
New York Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch said Tamura has "documented mental health history," although his motive for the shooting is still unknown.
Tisch said Tamura, 27, of Las Vegas, was licensed to carry a gun in Nevada.
There have been 50 police officers killed in the line of duty so far this year across the country, according to the Officer Down Memorial page.
Of those, 27 were killed by gunfire.

Ryne Sandberg’s Death Marks End of an Era for Chicago Baseball
Hall of Fame second baseman Ryne Sandberg, whose name became synonymous with Chicago Cubs greatness, died Monday at age 65. ESPN reported that he passed away at home surrounded by family from metastatic prostate cancer, which he publicly revealed in January 2024.
The Cubs shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), writing, "With great sadness, we share that Ryne Sandberg has passed away today."
Sandberg played all 15 seasons of his major league career with the Cubs, earning the respect of fans and teammates alike with his quiet grit and steady brilliance.
A Career of Consistency and ImpactSandberg was a 10-time All-Star and the National League MVP in 1984, the year he helped lead the Cubs to a division title. That season, he hit .314 with 114 runs scored and a league-leading 19 triples. Known for his exceptional glove, Sandberg won nine consecutive Gold Glove Awards and retired with a .285 batting average, 282 home runs, and 344 stolen bases. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005.
Off the field, his reputation was just as strong. “Ryne Sandberg was a hero to a generation of Chicago Cubs fans,” said Cubs executive chairman Tom Ricketts. “His integrity, hustle, and competitive fire were hallmarks of his career.”

Sandberg’s legend was cemented in 1984 during a nationally televised game against the St. Louis Cardinals when he blasted game-tying home runs in the ninth and 10th innings, leading the Cubs to a dramatic 12-11 win. The performance became known simply as the “Sandberg Game.” Forty years later, in 2024, the Cubs honored the moment with a statue outside Wrigley Field.
A Legacy That Lasted Beyond RetirementAfter retiring, Sandberg briefly managed the Phillies from 2013 to 2015 and remained active with the Cubs, mentoring young players and making regular appearances at Wrigley Field. He served as both ambassador and analyst, helping guide the next generation of talent while representing the franchise he helped define.

Sandberg is survived by his wife, Margaret; five children—Justin, Lindsey, Steven, BR and Adriane—and 11 grandchildren.
As Chicago mourns one of its most enduring sports icons, fans remember Sandberg not just for his stats or highlight-reel moments, but for the quiet leadership and deep loyalty that made him irreplaceable.
