Jaguar I-Pace Tops New List of Self-Driving Vehicles Most Likely to Crash
If you assumed Tesla was the most dangerous self-driving car on the road, think again. A new study from Davidoff Law Personal Injury Lawyers reveals the Jaguar I-Pace holds the unfortunate distinction of being the vehicle most likely to crash in autonomous mode.
With nearly 70 crashes per 10,000 vehicles sold, the I-Pace’s crash rate is more than six times higher than Tesla’s and nearly nine times that of its corporate cousin JLR, which also uses similar automated driving technology.
Despite selling just 131,860 I-Pace units, Jaguar reported 918 self-driving-related crashes—a rate that dwarfs every other brand in the study.
Luxury Doesn’t Always Equal SafeTesla landed second on the list, but its position came with context. While its crash count was the highest overall, 2,708 crashes involving Model Y and Model 3, the automaker also has one of the largest autonomous-capable fleets, with over 2.3 million vehicles on the road. That results in a crash rate of just 11.46 per 10,000 cars.
In third place was JLR, also using the I-Pace model but reporting a significantly lower crash rate of 8.33. Rivian’s R1S came in fourth with 1.03, followed by Kenworth’s T680 long-haul truck with 0.23.
BMW followed closely behind in sixth with 0.12 crashes per 10,000 vehicles, just ahead of Subaru’s Forester at 0.12, Acura’s MDX and TLX at 0.11, and Mercedes-Benz’s S580 at 0.07.
At the bottom of the crash-risk list, and topping the safety performance chart, was Honda’s Civic. With over 23.7 million cars on the road and only 122 incidents, it averaged just 0.05 crashes per 10,000 units.
The Full Ranking by Crash Rate per 10K Vehicles: Jaguar I-Pace – 69.62 Tesla Model Y and Model 3 – 11.46 JLR I-Pace – 8.33 Rivian R1S – 1.03 Kenworth T680 – 0.23 BMW iX xDrive50, X5 – 0.12 Subaru Forester – 0.12 Acura MDX, TLX – 0.11 Mercedes-Benz S580 – 0.07 Honda Civic – 0.05Ruben Davidoff, managing partner at Davidoff Law, said the findings suggest many luxury manufacturers are racing to deploy advanced driving systems before they’re truly ready. “The disparity between ADS and ADAS systems suggests we may be deploying fully autonomous technology before it’s truly ready for consumer roads,” Davidoff said.
Broader Context and ImplicationsIndustry data shows self-driving vehicles average 9.1 crashes per million miles, compared with 4.1 for traditional cars, underscoring that current autonomous tech is far from fail‑safe. Experts believe over 90% of serious crashes are still due to human error—and while autonomous systems are promising, they also carry novel risks that need regulation and standardized safety benchmarks.
While big names chase the future of driving, this study serves as a cautionary reminder: innovation means little if it can’t keep you safe.

All Cell Phones Banned at Major Concert
Anyone who has been to a concert in the past two decades knows that the audience is filled with people using cell phones to capture the moment, whether it's people taking photos or videos to share on social media or to keep for their own memories. But one recent concert banned cell phones entirely.
During a recent concert at the TD Garden in Boston, the Swedish metal band Ghost held a concert that it billed as a "phone-free experience" where all phones were explicitly banned. All 11,000 attendees had to agree to have their phones locked in a small, magnetic pouch that they kept with them or wore around their necks.
The fans had to agree to allow an attendant to secure the phone in the pouch – a process which the Boston Globe says took about 10 seconds. Then, on the way out, each pouch had to be individually unlocked by workers employed by the manufacturer, Yondr.
If someone did have to use their phone for any reason while inside the venue, they could go to one of five "phone use" areas spread throughout the venue, where an attendant would unlock their pouch and re-lock it when they were done. If anyone was caught using their phone outside of those designated "phone use" areas, they would be escorted out of the venue.
Ghost's frontman, Tobias Forge, explained the decision to go with a phone-free experience for their concerts.
“Maybe I’m old school, maybe I’m old-fashioned,” Forge said during a recent interview. “I just feel that we’re having an intimate moment, and it disturbs me that you’re filming while we’re doing this together. I’m doing something for you to respond to me.”
It's certainly a unique way of doing things in a world where everyone seems to be glued to their respective devices. But it seems to have gone well.

Between the power of the sun and the IP65 waterproofing, you won’t have to worry about frequent charges or the elements either.
Shoppers are impressed with the battery life and video quality, with one writing, “When you combine the 15000mAh battery with the solar panel, you will probably never need to charge the battery again.” Another shopper wrote, “The battery life is good enough to last for at least a couple of weeks. Possibly a month or more, depending on activity in motion detection notifications. The solar panel keeps it charged up even during winter months.”

American Airlines is Changing Planes for a Popular Route
American Airlines is moving forward with a somewhat surprising move for one of its most premium routes, but some travelers will be quite pleased.
As first reported by The Points Guy this week, American Airlines will be bringing its wide-body Boeing 777 to a route between New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
This is good news for some travelers, because the three-cabin plane will allow customers to book its premium economy cabin on the cross-country flights.
While this is a positive change for many travelers, as it should allow for a more comfortable ride across the country for more people, it is somewhat surprising.
As The Points Guy explains, American Airlines typically does not use these larger, wide-body aircraft for domestic routes like this.
"For American, it's a bit of an unusual move. The Fort Worth, Texas-based carrier has a very limited schedule of wide-body jets on domestic routes, typically reserving its larger planes for long-haul international (and Hawaii) service," Sean Cudahy wrote for The Points Guy this week.
"It currently does not have regularly scheduled transcontinental service on twin-aisle planes out of JFK. That will change in October with the arrival of its three-cabin 777 on the route."
Cudahy provided a thorough explanation as to why this is happening for anyone interested, but the short answer is that it's a temporary measure until the airline starts receiving its brand-new Airbus A321XLRs.
Passengers can begin booking tickets for the new JFK-LAX 777 service on July 28 with service officially set to launch on Oct. 5.
U.S. Senator Does Not Hold Back on Delta's 'Predatory' Move
Last week, Delta Air Lines turned some heads when company president Glen Hauenstein revealed that the company was planning to expand its use of AI in setting prices. However, one particular U.S. lawmaker is not at all happy with the move.
During an earnings call last week, Hauenstein told reporters that about 3 percent of the airline's domestic ticket prices are already set using AI, and that the company hopes to expand that to 20 percent by the end of 2025. He also boasted about Delta's partnership with Fetcherr, a tech company that claims to be able to "set the perfect price every time" using AI.
Hauenstein described the AI pricing as a "super analyst" that is "working 24/7, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week" and is not limited like a human analyst.
While Delta is clearly excited about the move, three lawmakers have already expressed concern about the airline's plan, sending a letter demanding answers about the plan to expand its use of AI in setting fares. One of those lawmakers took it a step further.
In a social media post, Sen. Ruben Gallego of Arizona did not hold back his true thoughts on the airline's move, calling the pricing "predatory" and vowing not to allow the airline to get away with such a move.
"Delta’s CEO just got caught bragging about using AI to find your pain point — meaning they’ll squeeze you for every penny," Gallego wrote in a post on X this week. "This isn’t fair pricing or competitive pricing. It’s predatory pricing.
"I won’t let them get away with this," he added.
American Airlines CEO Robert Isom has also spoken out against Delta's plan, calling it a "bait and switch" and insisting that American Airlines would never use a similar move.
It's worth noting that Delta denied any plans to use personal information to target customers with individualized offers.
"There is no fare product Delta has ever used, is testing, or plans to use that targets customers with individualized offers based on personal information or otherwise," the airline wrote in a statement this week. "A variety of market forces drive the dynamic pricing model that's been used in the global industry for decades, with new tech simply streamlining this process. Delta always complies with regulations around pricing and disclosures."
It will certainly be interesting to see how Delta will move forward with the plan, especially considering the outrage it has sparked.
Delta President Explains Controversial Change
Delta Air Lines sparked controversy this week when President Glen Hauenstein revealed that the company was planning to expand its use of AI in setting prices. While the change is controversial, Hauenstein certainly thinks it will be good for Delta.
During an earnings call last week, Hauenstein told reporters that about 3 percent of the airline's domestic ticket prices are already set using AI, and that the company hopes to expand that to 20 percent by the end of 2025. He also talked up Delta's partnership with Fetcherr, a tech company that boasts its ability to "set the perfect price every time" using AI.
"The convergence of AI, machine learning and real-time data processing completely transforms how airlines approach pricing strategy," a Fetcherr post on dynamic pricing in aviation reads. "Gone are the days of rigid pricing rules and manual adjustments. Welcome to the era of true dynamic pricing, where artificial intelligence can process millions of data points instantly to set the perfect price every time. Welcome to the modern age of AI dynamic pricing."
However, not everyone is happy with the move.
Several lawmakers have already expressed concern, with one highlighting the issues in a post on social media, and American Airlines CEO Robert Isom has spoken out against the plan, calling it a "bait and switch."
Still, Hauenstein seems to be excited about the plan. During the earnings call, he had two words to describe the AI that the company is using to help set its prices, calling it a "super analyst" that isn't limited in the way humans are.
“We’ve started this and I’d say what we have today with AI is we have a super analyst,” Hauenstein said, according to Airline Geeks. “We have an analyst that’s working 24/7, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And trying to simulate, given the same inputs that an analyst sees today, real-time, what should the price points be. And that output is different than what we have in the market. And so we’re letting the machine tell us, actually, go ahead and price in a very controlled environment.”
It will certainly be interesting to see how Delta moves forward with such a controversial plan.
Andy Reid Reacts to Travis Kelce Body Transformation
Last season was not a great season statistically for Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. But after briefly considering retirement, he decided to return for another season with the team, and it sure sounds like he's looking good, despite his relatively old age for an NFL player.
Kelce struggled much of last season, putting up the worst numbers of his career across essentially every statistical category. However, he's set to return for another season, and he clearly believes he's still capable of performing at a high level.
“I still feel like I can play at a high level and possibly at a higher level than I did last year,” Kelce said earlier this year after announcing his decision to return to the Chiefs. “I don’t think it was my best outing, you know? I think I let my guys down in a lot more moments than I helped them, especially if you look at my track record and how I’ve been in years past. You know, I want to give it a good run. I got a bad taste in my mouth about how I ended the year and how well I was playing, and how accountable I was for the people around me.”
It seems like Kelce is doing everything in his power to make sure that's a reality.

Kelce received a lot of criticism throughout the 2024 season for his physical fitness after spending much of the offseason traveling with his superstar girlfriend, Taylor Swift, but he's spent much less time in the public eye this summer and appears to have dedicated himself to staying in shape – and it shows.
The star tight end is noticeably leaner this season and looks more athletic, and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has taken notice, breaking his silence on Kelce with four words, saying the 35-year-old tight end "looks like he's 20."
"He's svelte right now," Reid told reporters this week, according to E! News. "He's doing a great job. He's in great shape."
"You can see he’s been working out," Reid added.
Kelce himself has admitted that he has shed some weight since last year.
"I am down some weight from the end of the season last year," Kelce said during a press conference last month.
"This year, I got some time to work on some form running and some things early on in the offseason that I just didn't have time for last year," Kelce said. "I'm certainly feeling good, and hopefully it'll pay off."
We'll have to see how Kelce performs this upcoming season.
Southwest Flight From Burbank to Las Vegas Suddenly Drops, Terrifying Passengers
Passengers on Southwest Airlines Flight 1496 experienced a heart-stopping moment Friday morning when their plane took a sudden dive just minutes into the journey from Burbank to Las Vegas.
According to flight tracking data from FlightRadar24, the aircraft rapidly descended 475 feet roughly six minutes after takeoff, dropping from 14,100 feet to 13,625 feet in an apparent mid-air collision avoidance maneuver.
Avoiding a Close CallSouthwest later confirmed that the sharp descent was triggered by a collision avoidance alert. The system advised the pilots to drop altitude, a standard protocol when another aircraft is detected within potentially unsafe proximity.
The second aircraft involved, a Hawker Hunter with the tail number N335AX, was flying at approximately 14,653 feet when the Southwest jet began its controlled descent. The two planes were separated by about 4.86 miles at their closest point.
Preliminary data shows the avoidance maneuver worked as intended, but the jolt left a lasting impact on those aboard.
Screams, Injuries, and ReliefSteve Ulasewicz, a passenger on the flight, described the event as an "8- to 10-second drop of free fall." He told ABC News that the sudden plunge caused passengers to scream and brace for the worst. "Definitely felt like that was it. Like this is how I'm going to go out," Ulasewicz said.
While no passengers were immediately reported injured, two flight attendants sustained injuries during the incident, according to a statement from Southwest. The airline praised its crew for their quick response and professionalism under pressure.
FAA Launches InvestigationSouthwest Airlines is cooperating with the Federal Aviation Administration as the agency investigates the incident. "Nothing is more important to Southwest than the Safety of our Customers and Employees," the airline stated.
"Southwest Airlines Flight 1496 responded to an onboard alert that another aircraft was in the vicinity while in Los Angeles Air Route Traffic Control Center airspace. The FAA is investigating the event that occurred around 11 a.m. local time on Friday, July 25," the FAA said in a statement.
As the FAA works to piece together what happened, passengers are left replaying the harrowing moment that turned a routine 45-minute hop into an unforgettable ordeal.
For many, what started as a quick trip to Vegas turned into a reminder that even the shortest flights can come with unexpected turbulence.

Burger King Moves Forward With New Menu Items
Burger King is moving forward with a pretty significant change to their menu, adding a few beverage options for coffee drinkers and lemonade lovers.
As confirmed by Newsweek on Friday, the fast food chain is rolling out four new Iced Coffee Cold Foam options as well as two Real Juice Lemonades as it looks to add a little more variety to its beverage offerings, especially with competitor McDonald's leaning heavily into diverse beverage options.
Burger King now has four different Iced Coffee Cold Foam options: Vanilla, Mocha, Plain and Black. However, the plain variety is limited to select locations.
As for the Real Juice Lemonades, Burger King has debuted a Strawberry Lemonade that is made with real fruit juice, as well as a Mango Peach Lemonade that is a blend of lemonade made with real peach and mango juices.
"The new Strawberry Lemonade is made with real fruit juice for a delicious and refreshing beverage and the Mango Peach Lemonade is a vibrant blend of lemonade with real peach and mango juice," a Burger King spokesperson told Newsweek on Friday.
Burger King set the recommended price of $2.49 for a small size, $2.79 for a medium size, and $3.29 for a large size. However, there is a chance that the actual prices will vary by location.
The good news is, customers won't have to wait to try the brand-new products, as Burger King has confirmed that the new beverage options will be available across the nation immediately.
This menu addition comes as McDonald's moves forward with a plan to add a number of new beverage options to its menu at its restaurants across the country, adding many beloved drinks from its since-closed CosMc's beverage spinoff location.
Clearly, drinks are a trend, and Burger King is looking to capitalize on it.
