Abstraction # 2

Boom! A collision of shapes and temperaments and a wide range of emotions. This painting is a roller coaster ride of powerful colors and dynamic lines. Hidden beneath and behind the turmoil is the outline of Albrecht’s head and shoulders which makes this painting a self-portrait, too. Can you see him?

Painting and predicting the future

There are many reasons why I love painting. The most powerful is that I makes me see the future. There is nothing on a canvas or a paper in the beginning, it is terrifyingly white but in my mind the painting already exists. I can almost perfectly see it.
What an awesome experience to visualise the future and to watch the future unfolding before your eyes - not by chance but by total purpose and craft. It makes me happy. I wish I could do the same thing with other fields of life, too.

Paris - City of Romance and (now) Beer!

We had a Lot of Fun in Paris with Our Friends.

The first night was for professional visitors and art people. Our booth was right in the center of the Carrousel du Louvre and at the beginning it looked like this. Days two and three were a bit more relaxed, but I didn't get to Paris in order to relax. My friends at Neuschwansteiner provided German beer for the occasion and the visitors loved it.

We went full throttle all the way. Now we are back home, getting ready for the next gig in Cannes, France this December.

Day One, Magic of the Swarms at the Carrousel du Louvre, ParisStay tuned for scenes from our next vernissage.

Sorry, Wrong Number!

Less than one month to go and I am really happy about how many of you guys will be joining us in Paris. Can't wait to see all of you very soon. Afraa and I will be staying till sunday evening. I have been preparing this trip for a while now obviously and I read a lot about the Louvre, too.
So, I remembered the Da Vinci Code, where it says that the glass pyramid in the Louvre is a symbol for Mary Magdalene and it has 666 glass panes because of the conspiracy. 666 is the number of the beast! Naturally, I wanted to make 100% sure before I go because of the beast and our exhibition. And I found out that Dan Brown got the number wrong. It isn't 666, but 673 panes, now I wonder whose number that is. Some neighbour of the beast, I suppose ...

Abstrahistic Perspectives

It's always a challenge to show art. Taking photos isn't easy and a lot of things can go wrong, like light, focus, distance... But what else is new? I like to experiment when it comes to creating images and ways to show them. On canvas I find it easy, because we move our heads towards a painting, tilt, squint and so on. This is what I tried to capture in a series of pictures I took of some of my paintings. I call this series "The Magic of the Swarms - Perspectives" and I pretend that the painting is like a map or a landscape with me flying over it.

Full frontal depiction is clearly a must when it comes to professional representation of works of art, but here? As Bob Ross used to say: Let's go a little crazy. This is what I did with this abstrahistic painting of animals, free forms and humans. I like the way light reflects on the right side and how the shapes are lost on the horizon. With a high resolution like that, this is a RAW file you even get to see the brush strokes.

Seeblick in Mannheim
