The Protect ‘n Grip Thimble is a flexible thimble that stays in place on your finger tip, and features a metal dimpled cap – for ease in pushing the needle when hand-sewing and hand-quilting. Features cooling “scallop vents” for breathability.
Thimbles are one of our most request notions! Protect ‘n Grip Thimbles, are available in additional sizes at ShopNZP.com.
I Sew For Fun Flexible Thimble Set

Machine basting is a great way to keep fabric layers together during the sewing process and eliminates pinning! The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show: Quilt to Give Week!
It’s Quilt to Give Week! The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show and Nancy Zieman Productions are pleased to be hosting our annual community service project, Nancy Zieman’s Quilt to Give! We invite you to participate –from home– as we share Nancy’s easy step-by-step instructions for making a bed quilt from your fabric stash.
Follow Quilt to Give Week, August 24-25 on The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show Facebook Page, and share photos of your Quilt to Give in progress.
Sewing a quilt and giving it as a gift is gratifying. Sewing a quilt for someone in need or who is going through tough times shows compassion. Most importantly, the recipient feels loved. Win. Win!
This year marks the 10th year of Nancy Zieman’s Quilt to Give Project at The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show, September 10-12, 2020. Since we’re not able to gather together at an in-person event this year, we’re making twin-sized quilts at home, then donating them to Enchanted Makeovers and Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (DAIS).
In 2011, Nancy made her first Quilt to Give design in 10-days, sewing a little each day. Nancy chronicled her 10-day journey with full instructions on how to make her quilt – right here on the NZP blog. Our hope is that in the near future, you will consider making Nancy’s easy quilt design, made with columns instead of blocks, and then give it away.
Quilt to Give Community Service Project
Nancy Zieman Productions and PBS Wisconsin would like to thank the many Quilt Show Volunteers, attendees, the talented team at M&R Sewing and Vacuum, for your many years of sponsorship and service to Nancy Zieman’s Quilt To Give.
Each year, several kind souls make and donate completely finished quilts—New Quilts of all patterns and colors are welcome.
Quilting groups have also take on the challenge! This year, working separately at home.
Others have donated time to cut, press, and stitch, during the The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show. We’re in this together, even though we’re not together in person.
Receive a Quilt To Give Volunteer Pin
Receive a Quilt To Give Volunteer Pin when you donate a finished/new bed quilt, and send to Nancy Zieman Productions by October 1, 2020.

Bed-sized quilts are in demand
Bed-size quilts of all sizes are welcome. Twin-sized quilt donations are great, too—twin-size is the size we’ll be sewing this week. Why? Two organizations that will be receiving finished quilts, Enchanted Makeovers and Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (DAIS) have both requested the twin quilt size. Enchanted Makeovers services national women’s shelters and Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (DAIS) is a Madison-area woman’s shelter with twin-sized beds in each room.
Make a quilting plan
Be sure to download the Twin-sized Quilt to Give Worksheet . It will assist you in sorting and cutting fabrics.
Sort fabrics from your stash. Begin by selecting a print or prints that will be used as the inspirational fabric. Then choose other fabrics that coordinate with the inspirational fabric.
Gather solid-color fabrics that coordinate or match with the inspirational fabrics. Choose many solids or mottled fabrics (subtle prints that appear as solid colors from a distance) as possible for this project. Read Step 1: Sorting Fabrics.
Determine which fabrics will be the outside columns (the more solid the better) and which will be used for the scrappy center columns. Print the Twin-sized Quilt to Give Worksheet PDF to plan fabric color placement and design.
Quilt To Give Week Schedule

The Easiest Ever Quilt to Give Design
During our first annual Quilt to Give community quilting project, a donation of four yards of striped fabric in bright colors was donated. Great donation, but it just didn’t seem to fit with our other donated fabrics.
While pondering what to do with the fabric, Nancy decided to use the striped fabric for the center section–within each column. Now no piecing needed for the center columns in this quilt! We share optional fabric cutting instructions when using a stripped fabric in the Twin-sized Quilt Worksheet.
