Doing Okay
Sitting here at my desk in my room that Ive spent an amount of time this weekend cleaning, Im realizingIm doing okay. Ive got a clean desk, pretty pens, a great idea Im excited to writeall fourteen (so far) seasons of Supernatural on Netflix
I know I said Supernatural wasnt my thing. I think Ive said that a lot, actually. But. BUT.
For years, I watched Aliens as my escape movie. No matter how bad things were in my life, Ripley was having it a lot worse. And then she survived! Saved her little...

Grumpy
Theres some serious stuff going on out there, but Im not going to be talking about it except around the edges. Just take it as written that I care, that I want people to live and be healthy and happy, and well go from there.
Im one of the lucky ones in so many ways, and one of the biggest is that social distancing is not hard for me. Im a hermit anyway! Or I would be, if life would let me. I, alas for me, do not have a job that can be done from home, so Im still going to work. (Very glad to...

Remember the Doom?
Hey, remember the List o’ Doom? I think that’s what I called it.
Oh, yeah. This one. (Fun fact! I have a draft post sitting in my file for lo, these many months now, updating my progress on this list! But then I stopped working on it.)
Some of the stuff though, has now been done. Other things? Yeah, still on the list. The list that I haven’t been looking at.
The List o’ Doom.
Some of it’s not my fault. I called a handy-person! He sent me to Home Depot and I managed to bring home the wrong...

My Birthday Present
Y’all, I have a coelacanth. Roomie got me a coelacanth!
[image error]Just look at this beauty!I’m not really up for explaining the sea life tonight. Here’s a post where I talked about it ages ago.
Here’s the current bed lineup. I have learned, over the years, that the more sea life in your bed, the less room for you, so it’s just these guys right now.
[image error]Huggsley, as always, watches over the writing, spork at the ready. Faithful companion!
[image error]That wee bit of commentary is all the brain I have for tonight, so...

I Love the Gem Show
I love geology. I am a great big fan of rocks. I love fossils and geodes and crystals. My favorite rocks, though, by far, are ones I can wear.
Enter the gem show.
Most years, I don’t go to the gem show. I know me, I know the capacity of my house and the (much lesser) flexibility of my budget, and I stay away.
This year, though, I got my tax refund on the Wednesday right before the last weekend of the gem show–when the dealers are slashing prices because everything they sell they don’t have to...

Not My Circus
Wow, it’s been a while. Dammit. I didn’t mean to do that.
Life was really busy for a period of time, then kid decided that she could not actually care for Cricket as she needed. Tragically, no one offered to pay me to quit my job and stay home and raise a puppy, so we had to find her another foster home. She is safe, happy, and healthy, but I have no more puppy pics, sigh.
Work (go-to-work job) has been utterly WILD. We moved in December, over a month ago now, and I’m still not unpacked....

The Cuteness
So there’s a puppy.
[image error]Kid thought pit bull puppy. I think not.Apparently some dumbass was giving away puppies outside a grocery store. Puppies, I will note, who should not have been away from their mothers yet. Kid’s friend accepted a puppy, got her home, and realized she was in over her head. Puppy was only four weeks old.
My kid and I have fostered bottle baby kittens for the Humane Society, so we’ve taken the training classes, which of course aren’t differentiated between puppies and...

Just One Resolution
I don’t usually do New Year’s Resolutions. They don’t tend to stick, according to the science. And they annoy me. I don’t like to do things everyone else is doing, especially not when everyone else is doing them.
But I gotta figure something out. I’m tired of spinning my wheels. So I prepped yesterday and started today, with just one resolution. Just one plan–every day, I will check my bullet journal. Every day. Once a day, if that’s all I manage, though twice a day would be better.
I really...

My House Smells So Good
My roommate bakes for fun, y’all. And though we are very much not “we need space for entertaining!” people, she does love to feed people.
Enter Christmas, and a visit from her parents.
Roomie made chocolate crinkle cookies. She fixed Tuscan Sausage Pasta. She baked pfeffernüsse. She made bread (to go with the apple butter she made a week or two ago.) She made egg nog.
Our house smells So. Good. If I could bottle and sell this, I could quit my job and start traveling in like, a week.
It is a...

Feelin’ Grinchy
Sometimes I’ve got the Christmas spirit. It comes and goes. Most of the time, I really just don’t. I think I need a few days off before I have to do something else, but I don’t get to do that.
Whine, whine…it bites when the spirit abandons you when you’ve barely wrapped any presents.
But yeah. I guess I better go deal with that anyway. Sometimes you gotta put on your big girl pants and wrap the flippin’ presents.
Merry Christmas, y’all. Happy Yule, blessed Hanukkah, joyous Solstice. Happy...
