Once, shortly after Pokemon Go came out, my kid and I were meeting friends for dinner. Having missed the restaurant, I pulled over to look at the map on my phone. My kid yelped, “OhmygodPikachu!” and leaped out of the car. I was both bemused and delighted. Anything (almost anything) that gets my kid both moving and happy is likely to please me, no matter the situation.

Wow. I did not think it had been that long since I managed to come here…in my defense, though, it’s been a hell of a month. Some was the same as ever–starting school and trying to stay on top of everything to get us going smoothly. Some of it was stuff I’ve never dealt with in a school before, and it was Not Fun.

Out of Time Tonight

I took Friday off work, so I’ve had three days off and I haven’t had time to blog. No, really! I had time to nap, and go grocery shopping, and pull the washing machine out from the wall to figure out why there’s water coming out from under it (and then to put in a service request, sigh.)

Somehow there was time to clean out the chest freezer and defrost it a bit and organize it a lot, but I didn’t have time to blog about it. I happen to think the organizing is genius, though–I had bought plast...

I don’t know what’s up with me lately. Remember when I blogged nearly every day? Yeah, probably not. This blog has been dark so often for so long, most anyone who used to read has wandered off.

Contented Mermaid Noises

Water is so wonderful. I’ve always loved being in it. When I was a kid and my dad would take me and my brothers fishing? He never caught anything, because very quickly we kids would be in the water, and no fish in its right mind is coming near that. In tiny streams that barely covered our ankles, we’d hunt crayfish just to find them, stare at them, put them back.
