It’s a Wonder Woman Night
So…I have a confession. I’m a great big geek (I’ve mentioned that before, that’s not the confession) and Star Wars is where it started for me (also not the confession), but I haven’t watched The Last Jedi yet. (that was the confession.)
Part of that is because I don’t like to jump into the wildness of seeing really big movies on opening night and such.
Part of it is that I’m a great big whomping coward. Luke Skywalker was my first love, and…well, let’s just say while I’ve (miraculously) avoid...

Catch-22
Case manager, care coordinator, recovery coach–whatever you call them, my kid has been through probably three a year since she was twelve. Turns out when you starve mental health funding (and schools, THANKS ARIZONA STATE LEGISLATURE) people don’t stick around in hard jobs made harder by pathetic pay.
Anyway. A couple of case managers ago, I had the distinct impression that the woman was of the opinion that the only thing wrong with my kid was how her mom (that’d be me) wouldn’t get out of th...

Look! Another Blog Post!
I’m fully aware that it’s not time management skills I need, it’s self-management skills. Or, as an article I read tonight put it, attention management.
Knowing I’m far from alone in this, isn’t really much comfort. I want to do what I want to do, not what I end up doing! (And as I finish typing that, I reach for the mouse to go find the link to that article mentioned in the last paragraph, as the article explicitly says not to do…so I will look it up in a little bit.)
So anyway. Making a lis...

Recharging
I had a lot of plans for when I (finally!) turned my book in. Just like I always do. I would read! I would write for fun! I would edit! I would go to movies and do things and life would be marvelous!
I’m…working on it. After so long of trying NOT to do all those things (except edit) it’s kind of hard to get into any other routine.
Funny enough, I’ve bought books. I’ve gotten several from the library too. Same with movies. I’ve made grand plans to clean my room, clean my house, start a garden…...

Where Did the Day Go?
Seems like that’s a question I ask myself every day. I could not tell you most of the time, what I spent my day on. I mean, today I worked. But what did I do all day?
Blast if I know.
I even stayed an hour over, trying to get something I meant to do, done. No dice. And now? I’ve been home most of three hours. What have I done? Nada. Well, okay, a five-minute Duolingo lesson. Some internet surfing (I suspect that’s my culprit, right there.)
But anyway. My needing to be more mindful is a thing....

Just to Post
So if a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is easily worth a blog post. Right?
Right.
This is (sadly) not current. I just wanted to post something and the brain was not cooperating. This is one of the kittens I fostered in 2016, who could fight her way out of a cardboard box, she just didn’t really want to.
Sorry it’s so huge and doesn’t load well. I tried to fix it but I’m not really up for a crash-course in video editing right now. (if it’s big for your screen, you don’t really need...

2017 Can DIAF
It was the year I was afraid to look away from the news.
It was the year I bought a house, then Republicans did whatever they did to make sure I received no financial boost from being a homeowner.
It was the year my dog had cancer again. The surgery cost $2000 and the vet said we should follow up with chemo (guesstimates on that go $2500-$5000.) It was the year my 15yo asthmatic cat stopped grooming his back end slowly so at first I didn’t notice, and now I see that’s moved up his body and tw...

I am not dead! Circumstantial evidence aside.
My life has absorbed me again. Every time I almost make it back… But I will be back. I will be back, and blogging, fairly soon. And when I am, there will be a new book out in the world! I’m very excited. (If only someone else would finish the editing for me, I’d be even more excited! Any takers?
…anyone?)
Ahem.
So yeah. Remember that bit in Monty Python’s Search for the Holy Grail?
No, not that bit.
Okay, the bit right before that bit.
Yeah. That one.

Breaking the Tumblr Habit
It’s soooo haaaaard…
Okay, I’m managing. It’s only when I want to avoid thinking (which, you know–is so rare! Really!) that I want to go to Tumblr.
I don’t even contribute content to Tumblr. I just scroll, and reblog what I like or what I think is important, very occasionally commenting but mostly not.
Kinda like how I do Twitter lately.
I had to draw the line, though. I am so ridiculously past deadline…so I set Firefox to not let me on Tumblr at all, via Leechblock. I set Chrome to only let...
