It’s Wednesday

For my own mental health, I try not to be one of those people who start counting down to the weekend at 7:05 Monday morning. I don’t want to wish five sevenths of my life away. Joy can be found in (nearly) any moment! Blah blah blah…

I’ve fallen into it lately, though. The just-waiting-for-the-weekend thing. Life is difficult right now (and I don’t even have most of the HUGE challenges facing so many, like trying to care for small children through this, or having to work in small spaces with ...

Life Comes at You Fast

Way too freaking fast, and I’m getting a bit tired of it. I long to go back to a simpler time–like when my mom and dad took care of everything and all I had to worry about was not letting my brother get close enough to push me out of a tree (while trying to push him out, of course.) (Look, we were remarkably stupid children.)

So anyways. Today is a mental health / “catch up just a little” day off from work. I have so much to do but I’m not going to freak out about it. That never helps.

I d...

Stumbling On, Update #??

Things are just a little overwhelming right now. I’m sorry I’m not around, I plan to be around, I just…have so many things that are a little more urgent at the moment. Also the WORLD is on FIRE and while some of it should definitely burn (racism) some of it MUST NOT (trans rights) so my focus is not here at the moment.

But I love ya. I’ll be around. Be safe, friends, and look out for your Black and trans and most especially your Black trans friends.

Saturday Morning Post

Waking up sneezy and a teeny bit congested is even less fun than it used to be. Is this allergies or is this something else? challenge 2020.

However! Today in gardening news:

Zucchini plant, perhaps eight inches tall, with yellow-orange flowerzucchini-to-be!

One of my zucchini plants has a flower! I’m so excited. Roomie has been taking over the house with her sourdough starter, but now…now I begin to fight back with my wild zucchini horde.

(I am not actually complaining. Roomie’s sourdough starter has been a wonderful addition to the family. No, it’s...

This Week in KD News

This was my first week back at work, and my coworkers, God love ’em, are not wearing masks. Luckily in my office I have a good amount of space around me, a desk that blocks casual access, and a chair that scoots back when people get too close. So far they think it’s funny, but that’s better than getting annoyed.

It’s hard for me to be consistent about anything ever, but I wear my mask every day and remind myself that even if (when) I have a day that I don’t care if I get it, I will never not ...

Stuff Has Moved

Hello! Welcome! Thanks for dropping by and please excuse the mess! Have a cookie?*

I am very sorry for the disorganization. WordPress changed things on me, and Im still trying to figure out what to do about it. That means Im mid-rearranging, so things will be changing with no notice, but the links below should continue to work. If you cant find something you think should be here, let me know.

If you are looking for my books, they are here. If you are looking for some free reading, that is...

Freakin’ Allergies, and also Babble About (Re)Writing to the End

digs around, looking for her brain

I took my kid to her friends house 4+ hours ago, and Ive been sneezing, congested, and brainless since. DESPITE an allergy pill hours before I left the house (24-hour relief my ass!) and some mucinex more recently (and yes, i checked that there were no known interactions.)

My AC isnt working in the car right now, so I did have to have the windows down. It was a lovely driveuntil about half a mile from home, when I realized the sneezing was going to stick...

Attempted Gardening

My zucchini is doing well! It was the first thing I planted, because those are the first seeds I received, by more than a week (thanks, UPS, and no, I am not fooled that it was actually USPS who lost them. I was watching the tracking.)

[image error]Thats the (formerlythere are more now) sole surviving tomato plant in the middle there.

Anyway. So yeah. I planted four seeds, in case one or two didnt come up, andwell, now I have four zucchini plants.

Were going to have it coming out our ears. XD

Then all my...

Staying Home, Week 1

Ive been furloughed for a week now, and Im doing okay. Im cognizant of how very lucky I amIm furloughed, not laid off or let go. I qualify for unemployment, and I have a computer and internet to get that ball rolling (now if they could toss that ball back to me, with money) I have savings to cover the bumps until the state can catch up on that.

I have plenty of food, and the knowledge and energy to cook it. I have a house that I actually like rather a lot, with a fenced-in backyard where I...

That Slug Life

At work, I know what I need to do and when I need to do it. All too often it is All of it! and no later than yesterday! but I know. Theres a lot to be said for knowing what you need to do, and having a timeline of when it needs to be done.

At home, though? Naw. Some things are easy. I know that as soon as the dishwasher is clean, I need to empty it. If I dont, dirty dishes start stacking up everywhere, and its not gonna be pretty. I know when(ish) Im going to make breakfast, and when Im...
