Summer is Here!

This is when librarians retire. Right before summer reading programs begin. LOL

Today is the kick off and it will be wild. We'll be short staffed with personnel taking vacations and the library will be swamped with record amounts of patron visits.

But after the hectic days, I'll be Dreaming of the Wolf...where there's lots of conflict of another sort.

I have to say, the bug infestation is awful. There are definitely fewer bugs outside my home than inside. I just had an exterminator here a couple...

Happy Memorial Day, Everyone!!!

1st, I want to thank all veterans, today's, tomorrow's and yesterdays for their service to the country!! Two of my son's best friends are being deployed, another and he are in training right now, and I wish them all the best. The 4 boys represent all of the services...the oldest--Marines, the next oldest, Navy, the youngest, Army, and my son, AF.

Hmm, well nothing is cooperating for me this morning.

My computer crashed. Not sure what is wrong with it. My laptop's Word froze up. Not sure what's ...

Surprise!!!

Well, I was surprised for a second day in a row! My daughter was planning on fixing dinner and I was bringing a movie for my birthday celebration. The movie looked to be too weird to watch--man decides he's a woman and we laughed and left it behind.

But when we arrived at her apartment, I found she had invited friends and they popped up to give me a big birthday "Surprise!" We had something to eat, watched the video I had made, and played lots of fun games. I wished I had a video of the games!...

Using Real Imagery in Stories

In Dreaming of the Wolf, I wanted to write something about the wildflowers in Colorado, because Jake's hobby is photographing them. So though I've researched the types of flowers that grow there, and was surprised to learn our own Indian paintbrush (that grows here in Texas) was growing there wild, I came across this picture at JS Nature photos.

From this picture, I was able to envision a scene. Or, Jake was. And often that's how I create scenes--by actually seeing a picture and describing it....

Woohoo, the Weekend is Coming!!

Love is in the air! Even if it isn't, a good romantic book can sure help set the mood. Right???

A comment made on one of my blogs was that the men in her life left much to be desired so finding a real hero didn't seem reasonable. Romance stories were just contrived.

Well, just like in romance stories, men aren't perfect. But then, women aren't either. Romance is what we make of it. Both men and women. It's what we do for each other--the little things. The loving kindness. The every day business...

Inspiration Enough???

I wasn't sure everyone got inspired enough yesterday, so with Donna's wonderful generosity in supplying me with some nice, very very nice wolfish pictures, here's another to help you get through hump day Wednesday!

Today, I'm talking at Voices from the Heart about loving what you write and how the series came to be.

And there's a link there also from Portland Community College, Portland, Oregon, featuring me as an alumni!

So, I will leave you with your inspirati...

Wanna Play Tag???

In Wolf Fever (Dec release), the wolves are playing a game of tag. It can be rough and tumble, and sexy and sweet--depending on which wolf you're talking about!

Wolves play together, hunt together, work together as a pack. They curl up together, love the feeling of companionship.

Ever have a dog who has to lay his/her head on your lap if you sit on the floor? They'll crawl into your lap even if it's a big dog? If you have a couple, they'll both be there, vying for attention?

It's a pack mentalit...
