ENVIRONMENT, CULTURE, AND ATMOSPHERE

If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.  John 15:10 NKJV  

The devil wants control of the environment, the culture, and the atmosphere you live in.   He doesn’t want to see you have rest and peace in the place where you live.  There is something demonic about environments that are wrecked.  You can actually see when something has dominion over one place.  You can cross the line, and as soon as you get over to that place, there’s a totally different environment.   

We are responsible for our own mess.  Your house and all you own should look more like heaven than like hell. 

This is just a simple understanding of the environment and the responsibility that we have.  Your environment has to do with how you steward the spaces that you live in and if it glorifies the Lord or if it doesn’t glorify the Lord. 

Culture has to do with your highest values and how you deal with other people. 

Culture is always set by whether I have a tremendous value for this or that and how I am relational to people.     

Your atmosphere has to do with how you carry the Manifest Presence of God or how you manifest Heaven or how you manifest hell.    

What determines if there’s a good spirit or a bad spirit, or if it is a Heavenly atmosphere or a hellish atmosphere? You have to understand that the atmosphere is compatible with the spirit that has dominion over it. You can make Jesus manifest in your house by making your house compatible with His presence.  He told us how to abide, or live, in His love. If you spend 24 hours a day on things that are not compatible with the manifest presence of the Lord, you can’t live in the peace of His Presence.   

Declaration: I am a strong and courageous child of the Lord Most High.  I control my environment, my culture, and my atmosphere.  I am committed to making sure my home is a holy habitat, filled with the Presence of God.

FEAR FACING FAITH

And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.” Exodus 3:2-3 NKJV  

After 40 years hiding in Midian, Moses had become the thing he hated most – a shepherd. He was surviving day to day in a place he never wanted to be. He needed an encounter with God, and that’s just what the brother got.  

It’s not clear how many days Moses saw that bush burn and refused to go look at it. It could have been months or years. However, there came a day he had to go look. In fact, he said, “I will now…” This took some real guts. Remember, Moses tried something different before and it blew up in his face. Just like that, there comes a time when you have to look into something that could cost you dearly. You need a God-ordained time when you turn aside from normal routine and seek something out because you want to know if God is in it. 

It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the honor of kings is to search out a matter.” Proverbs 25:2 NKJV 

The same God who made human beings made gold and hid it in a rock so you have to seek it out. Gold represents the divine nature of God Himself. Let me tell you something about God’s heart: it’s there for the taking, but you’re going to have to search Him out. 

Declaration:    My Father is Almighty God.  When I think that I am not enough and I have fallen short, He turns me back to His Word that says I am His child, friend, and the bride of Christ. I am grateful that the plans He has for me are for my good and prosperity. He will never harm me; He knows the end from the beginning sees me as full and complete through Jesus.  He helps me to find His concealed wonder.

AUDIE MURPHY

AUDIE MURPHY

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Romans 10:13 NKJV 

On October the 13th 1971, the Honorable Olin Teague of Texas declared the following statement to his fellow members of Congress to be put in the Congressional Record forever. 

“Mr. Speaker, during World War II, Audie Murphy, the son of a Texas tenant farmer, was awarded 24 citations for his battlefield deeds, including the Medal of Honor and a battlefield commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. The statement continued with all the details of what happened and ended with: Lieutenant Murphy’s indomitable courage and his refusal to give an inch of ground saved his Company from possible encirclement and destruction and enabled it to hold the woods, which had been the enemy’s objective.” 

This caffeinated Christian has read all the accounts of what Audie Murphy did in that one small sliver of time that defined his entire life. It is truly amazing. When I think about that wounded teenage Texan climbing on top of that burning vehicle and pointing that 50 caliber towards the enemy and surviving in heavy combat for more than an hour, I think that there was a godly set-up involved. 

God knows you better than you know you. He knows how you will react in certain situations, in fact, to any given situation. He knows where you will succeed and where you will fail. He will help you be an overcomer in situations you never thought possible.  

He leads us into places where we will win and not lose. You will rebel against the fear, limitations, obstacles, and size of the enemy.  Your heart will say, as David said to Goliath, “. .You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.” 2 Samuel 17:45 NLT  

Declaration:  Fear of the enemy will not cause me to run when God tells me to stand.  God knows which battlefields He has called me to fight on and which ones He has not.  My Lord directs me and Heaven’s Armies so I cannot be defeated.

THE PERFECT COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF

Know your enemy. It’s not the person across from you with a different skin color or point of view. It is satan, plain and simple. Joshua found this out after miraculously crossing the Jordan with 4 million Jews looking to take the land God promised them, starting with the walled city of Jericho. 

Now Jericho was an evil society where babies were burned alive as sacrifices and women were raped in the temples of the false gods of Ashera and Baal. They had no value for human life and violence ran rampant. Joshua was waiting on God’s battle plan when the most amazing thing happened: 

Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, ‘Are you for us or for our enemies?’ 

Neither’ he replied, ‘but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.’ Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, ‘What message does my Lord have for his servant?’” – Joshua 5:13-14 

Of course, the Commander of the Lord’s Army is Jesus himself! But what fascinates me is His reply to Joshua’s question – “Neither.” 

As Christians, aren’t we in the right? Isn’t God on my side and doesn’t He want to smite those I feel are against His people and His commands? No. He wants to redeem them.  If the people of Jericho would have turned from evil and followed the King of Kings, Jesus would’ve forgiven them and spared them. 

When you’re locked in a debate over race, sexuality, abortion, politics, guns, immigration or any other hot button topic in the headlines, know this: the person (or mob) you’re arguing with is not the enemy. God wants to redeem them through love and offer them salvation. 

The enemy of our times is satan. So, take control of the atmosphere! Get off whatever bandwagon you’re on and get to what really matters — loving people into the Kingdom of Heaven. The days are not only evil — they are short! 

Declaration:  I am a thermostat, not a thermometer, I can change the atmosphere around me.  Where there is anger, I can be a peacemaker; where there is suffering, I can bring comfort.  When there is great sadness, the joy of the Lord that is in me will overflow.  Lord, make me an instrument of Your Peace in the world today.

RECOGNIZING THE GIANTS

You have to get good at slaying your giants because you can’t live with them. You can’t live with that constant fear and intimidation in your life. It’s important to strengthen yourself in the power of faith, the importance of knowing who you are in God, and the significance of targeting your spiritual enemies with precision and confidence. Reject fear, embrace your unique God-given abilities, and trust in the Lord’s strength to overcome any obstacle.   

There is a step-by-step playbook on how to deal with the giants of your life in 1 Samuel 17. When David found out there was a giant, there was no doubt in his mind that he was going to kill it. He just wanted to know, “What’s my upgrade?” 

The size of your upgrade is determined by the size of your giant.  

They told him, “You get to marry the king’s daughter, and you never have to pay taxes again.” For David, it’s game on, but a second giant shows up on the scene. Look at verse 28:  Now Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s anger was aroused against David, and he said, ‘Why did you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the insolence of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.’ And David said, ‘What have I done now? Is there not a cause?’ Then he turned from him .  .  .  1 Samuel 17:28-30a NKJV 

His family’s mouth lined up with the mouth of the giant! Sometimes your family’s mouth will line up with the mouth of your Goliath. They’ll say you’re not smart enough, pretty enough, skinny enough, experienced enough. They will even say you’re not enough and you’ll never win.  

Loyalty issues with your family can cause you to walk out of your assignment, and live and die in the wilderness. To overcome that, you love Jesus more than you love your family. If your family refuses to see you as an awesome man or woman of God, you have to choose Jesus over your family. David turned away from his brother and continued going after God’s heart by defeating Goliath. You can too. Be after God’s own heart. No giant can stand against that. 

Declaration:  Yahweh is my Father; Jesus is my Brother who sacrificed it all for me so I can share in His inheritance.  The Holy Spirit is my comforter and counselor.  They are my family who speak life and destiny into me.  I am part of the Kingdom and family of God.

HIS MIND IN YOU

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8 NKJV 

Are you actively serving the Lord in your mind? Do you have honest and realistic mental boundaries concerning what you will and won’t think about? Do you set aside times for mediation on God’s Word? Do you keep your thoughts in order, so your life is in order? 

If you want God to do great things in and with your mind, the answers to those questions should be a resounding, “Yes.” If you answered, “No,” to any of them, you’re opening yourself to attack from the enemy. 

Known as the “father of lies” and the “prince of the power of the air,” the devil wants to control the atmosphere of your mind. One of the ways he does this is to deceive you into believing your thoughts are harmless – that you can control them. 

Remember, your brain has teeth. Your thoughts do come back to bite you because they become your attitude. Your thoughts affect your daily outlook and disposition. 

The Bible calls your brain “the loins of your mind.” This means your mind is a reproductive organ. The thoughts you think become your words and actions. If your thoughts are dark, you reproduce enemies who want to destroy you! An example is pornography. Porn always leads to ugly words and actions; that’s the source of the prevalence of child molestation and forced prostitution. Thoughts become actions. 

I want God to do great things in my mind. How about you? Have you allowed the Holy Spirit to personally deal with you concerning your mind? Have you asked the Lord to show you problem areas, and potential snares in your thinking? Have a Scripture for each trap the enemy sets so you can quote it back to him and send him and his lies straight back to the pit he crawled out of. 

Declaration: God has given me a sound mind; I will steward it and use it for Kingdom thoughts.  Life is a treasure, and I won’t waste a minute of it on useless, dark, or demeaning thoughts.  I will keep my thoughts aligned with the thoughts of Jesus.

JUDGMENT TO FRUIT BEARING AND PERFECT ORDER

…If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 NKJV 

A good friend of mine that I just really loved with all my heart, had a dad who was just a terror.  I’m talking about when we were third and fourth graders.  He would say, “If your friends are coming, here is the list of what I need you to do.” It was things like pulling all the stickers from the yard.  He would yell saying he better not find any stickers.   Then the beatings would commence. If you had the privilege of staying at his house, you also had the privilege of being beaten if he found any stickers in the yard. He was a mean, terrible, horrible man.  

I found out in the work that we did through the years that this mean and horrible person was also involved in the porno industry. It was shocking and I kept coming across it, and years and years went by.   In 2010, I got a phone call one day.  This guy says, “I need you to come over to my house right now.” It was that dude, and I thought, there’s no way.   But I went.  

After over two hours of being with him in his house with stuff that flies across the room, things that turn off and on. A window spontaneously shattered. He cussed me, but finally, he had a breakthrough and could hear me.  

I said, “If you want the devil out of your house, you need to repent.  I’m talking about cry out to King Jesus to save your soul because if you don’t, you’re going to spend an eternity with these jokers.” 

He got on his knees and held his hands up, he was crying and said, “What do I do?”  I told him, “Say, “Jesus, I need You.  Please forgive me and take this hell out of my life.”  He said that, and boom, this story changed from a ghost story to a holy ghost story.   

He started worshiping King Jesus. He and his wife started going to our church, and his life turned around. When this brother was dying, he went and led his brother to the Lord Jesus Christ. He was my good friend for years before he died.  He supported our ministry and loved us.   

Declaration: The only way to have peace in my life is to know Jesus as my Savior.  I proclaim that He has saved me, that I need Him every day, and that I love Him even more today than I did yesterday. He has taken hell out of my life and set my feet on the path that brings me through His Kingdom on Earth and ultimately will take me to Heaven. Hallelujah!

FAILING TO PLAN IS PLANNING TO FAIL

FAILING TO PLAN IS PLANNING TO FAIL

Many times, Christians go into marriage, parenting, a career, or ministry without a strategy or any kind of plan. They do this truly believing that “If it’s God’s will, I will succeed. If it’s not, I won’t.” If this is you, you need a serious Soul Invasion to set you free from crazy way of thinking.

First of all, God doesn’t say “if” He wants you to prosper you will. That’s crazy! God wants everyone to prosper. God hates for anyone to fail or fall.

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.  2 Peter 3:9 NKJV 

The truth is nobody deals with more disappointment than God Almighty! There have been billions of people He has set up for success who were never able to grab hold of it. This breaks His heart!  It reminds me of the time Jesus stood on the Mount of Olives. Knowing the people not only rejected Him, but the gift of salvation and blessings He offered, tears streamed down His face as He said:

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!”  Matthew 23:37 NKJV

What He was saying is this: “I wanted to do such great things with you, and for you, but you just wouldn’t let me.”

You see, the way it works is not “IF” God wants something to happen, it will. The rule is, if God wants it to happen, and you get with His program, it will happen. You don’t prosper and have success just because God wants you to. You prosper and have success because you’re committed to the plan God has for you.

Declaration: Jesus committed His life to becoming the sacrifice for my sins.  He saved me and set me free.  I am committed to living a life that aligns myself with the plan and purpose God has for me.  I am willing to follow Him, work to advance the Kingdom, and share the blessings He has given me so others will come to know Him, too.

GROWING IN HIS SPIRIT

My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness and Your salvation all the day, For I do not know their limits.  I will go in the strength of the Lord God; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only. Psalm 71:15-16 NKJV 

God never changes. However, the way God relates to us and how God interacts with us does change. If you’ve been walking with King Jesus for very long, I promise you there are things that you used to get away with that you don’t get away with anymore. There are things that used to be a tremendous priority in your walk with Jesus that are just no longer the priority. That’s not because you’ve fallen away; it’s because you’re growing. It’s because you’re changing.

I have the great privilege of having kids and grandkids.  I love every one of them.  We have thousands of children all over the world who call me Papa. I love and care for all of them. It’s awesome. But I want to tell you something. I love them all the same, but I do not speak to them the same. I do not deal with all of them the same. They are all growing and changing and so is my relationship with each of them.  Relationships grow deeper the longer we are in one.

Our testimony is who Jesus is to us. My testimony is not what I used to do before I was saved. My testimony is my history between me and King Jesus. He’s shown up for me, and He has loved me, and He’s been so good to me. He has saved my life. He set me free. He’s put me in favorable positions and credible places.  He has surrounded me with a great team of people.  He has caused people to love me. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Oh, I do have a great history between me and King Jesus. And that, indeed, is my testimony.

Remember your history. Recall all the times you have known God was in your life and remember what He did.  Reflect on how your relationship with Him has changed and grown.  Remember how your relationship was in the first season that you were with Him.  Think about how it is different now.  Imagine how it might be different in the future.

Declaration:  It is exciting to think of all the amazing things I know about Jesus.  He has helped me grow and understand life in ways I never understood until I knew Him.  Even now, I am growing and my relationship with Him is growing deeper and stronger.  My future is bright because His Light shows me the way.

THE LORD’S JOB

THE LORD’S JOB

“Another parable He put forth to them, saying: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.  But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared.’” Matthew 13:24-26 NKJV

Jesus spoke in parables to explain the Father’s Kingdom. This is about producing a harvest for the King when some “weeds” are mixed in. The end of His story shows us the Father’s heart.

Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest, I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.” Matthew 13:30 NKJV

I was seeking the Lord and asked, Jesus, what is this? Tell me what it means. The Spirit of the Lord spoke to me, and He said, Troy. I demand a harvest, but I do not demand it to be weedless.

Until I understood this, I thought for me to give Him a really good ministry, it had to be flawless. I thought I couldn’t make mistakes and be a really good dad or a really good husband. What I found is: There can be a harvest, and God Almighty does not expect it to be a flawless field.

He expects us to gather the harvest, but- – – He hasn’t called us to be weed gatherers. The Lord’s job is to bundle together the weeds and set them on fire. It’s not my job to pull weeds out of everybody’s life. I don’t go around criticizing everybody and looking at people’s lives and saying things like, “Man, I see a weed in your life. Or, “Excuse me, Sister Susie Rottenheart. I understand that you have sin in your life.”  Give me a break. I’m not going around pulling weeds out of anybody else’s life.  Let’s produce a good harvest that will honor the Lord and let Him take care of the weeds.

Declaration: I am a Sower of seeds of the fruit of the Spirit of God.  I praise God that His Word has shown me how to live in His Kingdom and that His Son came to reveal the Father’s heart.  This is a day when I will see the fruit of the work of my hands and not lose my Kingdom focus by looking at the weeds.
