ONE FATHER

Almost everybody has kids. Now, before you say, “But Pastor Troy, I’ve never been married,” let me tell you this: sons and daughters are not just biological. Sons and daughters are the people the Lord has trusted you to influence.  

That’s part of your supernatural heritage – your bloodline. Your bloodline is not just natural. Your bloodline is also supernatural. Check out what Brother Paul says about this: “To Timothy, a true son in the faith.” – 1 Timothy 1:2
Paul saw Timothy as his son, though he did not biologically father him. Somehow, Paul passed on his supernatural DNA to him, and Timothy was something else! 

For you, maybe it’s a coworker or the young couple next door. Is there someone in your life who looks to you for spiritual advice? Maybe they look to you as an example? Sometimes, it may even be someone we had no idea was closely watching us.

It could be you are not the ‘parent’ but the child. Is there a more mature believer in your church who you look up to spiritually? We all have spiritual children and spiritual parents. The only blood relation is the blood of Christ. Jesus even said, 

“For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.” – Matthew 12:59 

Christ also instructed us to pray “Our Father.” So, it really is a family affair. If you are a believer in Christ, we are family and of the same bloodline. We share the same spiritual DNA. 

Declaration:  It is exciting to have a large extended family and to walk through life united with all of God’s children in many different roles. I will seek Our Father for guidance in how to be a loving, giving part of the family. I will seek guidance from the spiritual parents He gives me and pour into those I can encourage.

RESIST HIM

RESIST HIM

So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Revelation 12:9 NKJV

The term “dragon” is used 13 times in Revelation—the number for rebellion—and all 13 times, it’s clear this destructive beast is Satan himself. He’s been laying low throughout the centuries, waiting for this day—the end of days you and I are living in. Also called “the serpent,” Leviathan’s only goal is to steal, kill, and destroy, and it uses you and me to accomplish its dark agenda. 

Not only is the spirit of Leviathan working overtime in the family, it’s targeting the church. It is alive and well not only in the congregation but within the staff and pastors. The Bible says its goal is to shipwreck your ministry, marriage, and family. 

How does this creature work in the spirit realm? By twisting the truth. Scripture, words, conversations, and intentions are a supernatural slinky for Leviathan. Its lies burn relationships and reputations and get this: It derives its power from our words. 

“Let those who are experts at cursing—whose cursing could rouse Leviathan—curse that day.” – Job 3:8 NLT 

When you cuss, complain, gossip, slander, and speak with anger or negativity, you actually invite Leviathan into your mind and relationships. It’s like inviting a witch to invade your life. As a matter of fact, the Hebrew root word for “serpent” in Genesis 3 is “nachash,” which literally translates as “to whisper a magic spell.” Paul dealt with this evil spirit in the early church, just as we are today. 

“Oh, foolish Galatians! Who has cast an evil spell on you?”
– Galatians 3:1 NLT 

James 4:7 tells us to submit to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Let’s be wise friends and operate in the power and authority King Jesus has given to us. 

Declaration:  My ears hear the words of Jesus and resist all whispers of the devil.  I am a devoted, submitted child of God Almighty, so the devil must flee from me.  I choose to never participate in gossip, false narratives, or rumors because they are from the works of darkness; I am a child of Light.

GLORY TO GLORY

GLORY TO GLORY

Your father loves it when you ask for His advice, guidance, and provision. He is so glad that you trust and obey. Your obedient heart makes Him smile and draws others to Him. I love it in the Bible, where God tells Moses He will grant him the desires of his heart with the words. I will do whatever you ask.  

Before you go thinking God is a genie in a bottle to control, let me tell you He most certainly is not. He does reserve the right to reward us, and God was pleased with Moses. What charges me up isn’t that God made the offer, but that Moses had experienced enough of God’s goodness, spent so much time talking to Him as a friend, he requested something so outrageously cool, it still blows us away today.  

Show me your glory. –  Exodus 33:18.
I don’t know that I would have thought of that, but Moses did. He had glimpsed something in God’s character, and he knew he had to have more of God’s goodness, His glory.  

I believe glory is when your right relationship with God becomes first in your life, real and tangible. Moses so wanted to go from glory to glory like Him. If you and I go after God’s glory, we’ll move from deep to deeper places in His presence. That’s why the Bible says in Psalm 42:7 that deep calls unto deep.  

In that perfect place of God first, we experience alignment in all aspects of our lives. God takes us into the extraordinary and gives us a glimpse of eternity with Him. From Everlasting to Everlasting. – Psalm 41:3.

Declaration:  My Lord is calling me into a deeper, everlasting understanding of Him.  I rejoice that He loves to teach and advise me and help me live a joy-filled life.  I am sold out to Him and pursue Him with all my heart.

RISE UP AND FINISH WELL

RISE UP AND FINISH WELL

Don’t be a casualty of war. America has seen its share of war casualties: 25,000 in the Revolutionary War, 212,938 in the Civil War, and 291,557 in World War II. These numbers may look high but compare them to the millions of Christians who were strong for the Lord in short seasons but were overwhelmed before the war was over.  

A lot of good, godly people only have experiences for the Lord in very short times. Those people who do great things and then burn out might make a valuable contribution. In the Kingdom, however, they missed the mark in terms of legacy. If you don’t finish well by leaving a godly legacy, someone else has to do that for you. Someone who made a plan and was doggedly determined to finish well.  

This reminds me of the very last letter one of my heroes pinned from the Alamo. “Take care of my little boy. If the country should be saved, I may make him a splendid fortune, but if the country should be lost, and I should perish, he will have nothing but the proud recollection that he is the son of a man who died for his country.” 

William Barrett Travis was commander of the Alamo and defender of Texas Freedom. Travis understood this principle. He knew that no matter how hard they fought, his legacy depended on him finishing well, which he did. He knew his chances were slim. Still, he fought. So should we.  

Feel like your kids will never get saved? Does it seem impossible to reach that brother who has it all and doesn’t need Jesus? Know this: their salvation may depend on your ability to be a witness, even at your or their very end. Be determined to finish well, then finish. Your end may be the beginning of someone else’s walk with Jesus. It’s time to be intentional in your Kingdom walk. Build yourself up in the Lord and be doggedly determined to take territory for the Kingdom of God every day. 

Declaration:  I’m grateful that as Your child, I have the heritage of knowing the enemy cannot form any weapon against me and my family. You will condemn every tongue that rises up against us (Isaiah 54:17)! Help me, Lord, to never forget Your teachings. Seeking and meditating on them will assure me a long life ending in peace (Proverbs 3:1- 2). In Jesus’s name. Amen.

FREEDOM BRINGS ORDER

FREEDOM BRINGS ORDER

For the land which you go to possess is not like the land of Egypt from which you have come, where you sowed your seed and watered it by foot, as a vegetable garden;  but the land which you cross over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water from the rain of heaven, a land for which the Lord your God cares; the eyes of the Lord your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year.  Deuteronomy 11:10-12 NKJV 

Do not give up your liberty. Live life until your spirit, mind, and heart get lined up with what God says. That’s what it means to stick with Jesus. 

Freedom is a calling. A calling has to be heeded and developed. The Bible says the gifts and callings are without repentance. If God Almighty called you as a child to do something for Him, He hasn’t taken away that calling. It’s up to you whether you walk in it or not.  It’s up to you whether you conform your life to it. It’s not up to anybody else. You are free to do anything, though not everything is beneficial for you.  All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. – 1 Corinthians 10:23

Everything God has planned for you is in perfect order.  The world we try to create has chaos and confusion and is centered on ourselves.  We need to come to an understanding that “it’s not always about me.” You are called to a ministry of reconciliation – to bring others to a right relationship with Christ no matter how it affects your flesh.  Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation. – 2 Corinthians 5:18

Just because you have freedom doesn’t make it okay to live all willy-nilly. You can live for Christ without giving up your freedom. If you renew your mind like Romans 12:2 tells you to, you will want what He wants – His will on earth as it is in Heaven.  Jesus says I love you. I want you to live free! I could have made you to love Me, but I needed it to be your choice. Choose life.  

Declaration:  I am honored to be called to live with Jesus.  My life is lived free of sin and darkness so my heart wants to reconcile others to the Lord so they can be free, too.  I will use the common sense He has given me to walk in freedom and make choices that build my life instead of tearing it down.

LEAVE THE WEEDS

Did you ever wonder why Jesus spoke in parables? We think that He wanted everybody to hear His teachings.  He does want everyone to want to hear Him, but some don’t.  He tells us that if you seek me, you will find me. If you ask, I will answer. And if you knock, I will indeed open up that door. If you don’t, that’s on you because I was speaking to you every single day, and you never had the heart to know me. 

His parable of the wheat and tares talks about weeds that grow up in a crop of otherwise good seed.  He expects us to gather the harvest, and He tells us to leave the weeds.  He hasn’t called us to be weed gatherers. It’s the Lord’s job to bundle together the weeds. It’s not my job to go pulling weeds out of everybody’s life. I don’t say things like, “I see a weed in your life. Excuse me, Sister Susie Rottenheart. I understand you have sin in your life.”  I’m not pulling weeds out of anybody else’s life. 

I am producing a harvest, and it’s the job of King Jesus to remove the weeds. My job is to produce the harvest. When I first began to understand this, I saw that I serve a very good God and that it’s not God that causes all the weeds in my life.  The enemy is what has sown that into my life.   

Sometimes, I have very ignorantly partnered with the sowing of weeds in my own harvest.  Then I repent and tell the Lord, Lord, should we just go to pull all these weeds out?  He says No, I don’t want to risk the harvest. I don’t want to risk one single seed of the harvest. That harvest is so important to me, Troy. He knows that sometimes I’m a full-blown knucklehead. But He says that there will be a harvest, and He will burn the weeds. 

Friends, if you could look at King Jesus as the weed burner, that would give me so much hope. I’m like, King Jesus, would You please burn and gather up all these weeds? And He says, I sure will, once you get through producing a harvest. I want a return on my investment.  

Declaration:  My harvest for the Lord will be abundant because I am focused on Kingdom work.  When I make mistakes and produce weeds in my harvest, I confess to Jesus and let Him pull out the weeds.  I walk in an atmosphere of goodness and mercy for all those around me.  I look past their weeds and see the Lord at work in their lives.

NEW SEED, NEW WORK, NEW HARVEST

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. Hebrews 11:8 NKJV 

Miracles are God’s way of helping us in very desperate times. If you are somebody who is going to live from miracle to miracle, then you are somebody who will constantly live in famine. If the only way God can prosper you is through miracles, then your life is constantly in peril and on the edge of destruction. God has something better for you than that! He is willing to give you a miracle, but He is tired of you living in a famine. 

Though it’s not as instantaneous, it’s just as miraculous, and it is much, much better. God wants to give you a vision for something better, give you a plan to achieve that better thing, and then give you the ability to maintain the thing He gives you. 

God has designed His people so that we are at our happiest when we are setting goals and achieving them. Our lives are fulfilled by having a vision for something better, finding a way to make that happen and then finally living in that place.  

That’s your promised land, and it’s a lot better place to live than going from miracle to miracle.  Like the fruit your kids don’t eat in the kitchen, your life, if left alone, will begin to decay. 

Sometimes, we tend to sit on our blessed assurance, while God’s desire is for us to move into something much better. Without a vision, you really will perish. 

God wants you to do something with your life! He wants you constantly headed into something better. 

Just like He did with Abraham, He may send you to new, different places and into new situations.  Stop waiting for a miracle; start walking in the direction the Miracle Maker sends you. 

Declaration:  The Lord has a plan and a purpose for me, and it seems like it will take a miracle to fulfill it.  He has given me the miracle of new life in Christ, and all things are possible for me now.  I trust the Lord and will follow Him so my life will bring glory to Him.

RUN AFTER HIM

“I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord!’”
– Psalm 122:1 

That’s an intentional posture where your spirit intentionally tells your soul to get ready because it’s going to worship the Lord today! 
Sometimes, I do not feel joyful, but I do feel the Lord. He has not abandoned me. The Spirit of God is with me and He’s with you too. He has not abandoned you if something in your life is not perfect. 

It’s about building up a track record. “But Pastor Troy, you don’t know how many times I’ve been stabbed in the back. You don’t know how much hate mail I get or how many failures and disappointments I have. Terrible things have been said and done to me. There are so many things I wish I had but I don’t have those things.”  

That’s not your track record. Your track record is this: when I seek Him, I find Him. When I ask, He answers. When I knock, He opens the door unto me. Have a track record of dreams, visions, and mysteries. Have a track record of miracles and wonders within your life and get excited about that! 

Today is a good day to remember a point Jesus made to remind us of the Father’s heart for us. 

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Matthew 7:11 NKJV 

You can come into the day with the expectation that your Father has good things for you. When Jesus saved you, He saved you to the uttermost and wiped out your track record. Open up to the Spirit of the Lord and start building a new, redeemed one. 

Declaration:  I am so glad I can come into the presence of God and experience all His Spirit has for me. I worship Him, and I love Him, and I know He loves me. My past is behind me, I’m excited about building an amazing new track record with Him.

BEWARE OF FALSE PROPHETS
AND FALSE MESSIAHS!

Now when they had gone through the island to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew whose name was Bar-Jesus, who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. This man called for Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God. But Elymas the sorcerer (for so his name is translated) withstood them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him and said, “O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord? – Acts 13:6-10 NKJV 

Bar-Jesus was a false prophet—a witch, sorcerer, soothsayer, or diviner. We’re talking about a python spirit. Just like witches and warlocks hiding within the church today, this fake is an expert at invoking the name of Jesus. He even named himself “son of Jesus”! That’s what those operating in the Python Spirit do. They talk about Jesus, even pray in His name, but they have no relationship with the true Son of God. They have appointed themselves as prophet and go about controlling others, wrecking lives, marriages, ministries and churches through lies and false prophecies. How?

They get close to leadership. Look at Bar-Jesus. He had attached himself to a very influential government official and enjoyed influence at a high level within the nation. Those men and women practicing witchcraft within the Church are looking for the same influence. You know them. They climb the prophetic ladder into places of authority by smooth talk and flattery. They use their conned connections to gain power. Once they seize the ear of a leader, they don’t let go!

In this account from the book of Acts, Bar-Jesus is trying to keep his grip of influence tightly wound around Sergius Paulus. He can’t have his meal ticket hearing about the real Jesus from a true prophet and man of God.

Filled with discernment, Paul sees right through this charlatan. This apostle has seen the Savior face to face. He’s filled with the Holy Spirit and he’s not going to be deceived. He calls this sorcerer out. He looked at Elymas. Then Saul said, “You false preacher and troublemaker! You son of the devil! You hate what is right! Will you always be turning people from the right ways of the Lord? And now look!

The hand of the Lord is on you. You will become blind.”

An enemy exposed is an enemy defeated. Paul not only exposed this warlock, but he also gave a prophetic picture of what following this false preacher would cost. Just as Bar-Jesus wandered around in the dark, so would anyone who believed his lying words.

Guys, we have to be filled with discernment in these darkening days and use our voice to speak Truth and ban those dark spirits.

Declaration:  Jesus breathed His Holy Spirit in me and gave me power and authority to speak to cast off anything that is not of God.  I walk in the joy of the Lord, trusting Him to help me discern anything around me that He wants me to trample on.  My home, my life, all my belongs, my finances and my family and friends are covered in the blood of Jesus, the One who saved me, and we are His.

GRACE TO WIN BATTLES

GRACE TO WIN BATTLES

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.  Ephesians 5:8-11 NKJV 

God Almighty commands us not to be idle or absent from the battlefield. All those incredible battlefield Scriptures show us this. Second Samuel Chapter 11, says, It happened in the spring of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem.  

You know, David was a go-getter, and the one time he decided, “I think it’s okay for me to take a few days off and not move forward,” was the day that Kings went off to battle. So, because he didn’t go off to battle on the battlefield that he was anointed for, he found himself on a battlefield he had no grace for whatsoever.

He came across a porn site at 3:00 in the morning. It wasn’t on the worldwide-waste of time. It was right off of his back porch. He saw that Bathsheba fox he would have never seen had he been upon the battlefield that God Almighty anointed him to be on.  He commands us to never ever be idle on the battlefields. That’s very important to me. I know that there are certain battles I’m called to fight. Once we get it down and understand this, we are always the warrior.  If we are faithful to always be the warrior, we will always be the winner. If I ever lose that, I’ll become a loser.

We need to be on the battlefield today walking as Light.  Before you step on to that place today, ask the Lord what is acceptable to Him, then obey and follow your Commander into battle.  Seek Him to know where He has given you grace to walk.

Declaration:  I am a child of Light.  I walk into places and darkness flees.  The Lord goes behind me giving me directions and prompting my movements.  I will not be absent from the battlefields where God has called me to be; I trust in His unfailing ways.
