C’mon

So no attempts at the prompt yesterday, huh?

How about some bits & pieces?

1) What is your least favorite mode of transportation?

2) If you could be any fictional character for a day, who would you choose and why?

3) What do you miss most about being a kid?

4) What story does your family always tell about you?

5) Where’s Waldo?

:)

Adding On

Here’s a writing prompt for all of you today. Put on your thinking cap and finish this opening sentence. It can be something Tommy, himself, is oftenlulled by…or…you can put yourself into the sentence (as Tommy’sAunt or UncleWhomever and have even more fun). When you’re done, and ifyou’re game, add one more sentence, too.

Step by step Tommy crept down the hallway, the light beneath the door beckoning him in much the same way ??????????

To illustrate, here would be mine:

Step by step, Tommy crept...

Who Knew?

I’m not a big horoscope person. I guess that’s because I think (for the most part) it’s awfully hard to make a “prediction” about a large group of people who simply share a similar birthday. Add to that, I’m a firm believer in making your own “luck,” and, well, let’s just say I’ll give my horoscope a passing glance if it’s in front of me…but I don’t bother to seek it out.

And then there was yesterday.

Not sure why, I sought out my horoscope online. Maybe because I knew something was coming and...

Brainstorm With Me

As I get inside the two month window for my next release (TAKEN IN, August 5th), I’d like to pick your brains for some marketing ideas I can use to drum up interest before the release. This would be more fun if we were all sitting at a table together with chocolate or something, but we’ll have to settle for a cyber-brainstorming session. takenin

1) As a reader (whether of my series or any book), why kind of behind-the-scenes info would you find intriguing? This could be behind-the-scenes in terms of...

Andy

Over the weekend, we had some family over for a backyard barbecue (only we didn’t grill–we had other stuff).

One of the people who came was my cousin, Andy.

Andy is 32 and he’s four months away from getting married to his fiancé, Summer.

I was very close with the kids in Andy’s family. I was there when they were babies…babysitting Andy many times. In fact, one of my favorite pictures in my own childhood photo album is one of Andy, sitting at the table in just his diaper with spaghetti sauce all...

Three Facts

Shall we try a writing exercise? littlegirlwriting

I’m giving you threethings to work into a story paragraph. It could be the beginning, the middle or the end. Your choice.

Here we go…

Main character: A little boy of about 5

What’s happening: He’s found a great big caterpillar.

Tension: His 7 year old sister is not happy about the caterpillar.

What can you do with this in four sentences of less? C’mon, give it a whirl.

Camp It Up

Back in elementary school, I had the opportunity to go camping with my Girl Scout troop a time or two. When we went, it was just a weekend trip–up on Friday after school, home on Sunday afternoon.

Sometimes I can vividly recallthe chill (we usually went in October) of the morning air as we scrambled to get dressed inside our sleeping bags. Oh, and the smell of whatever we were having for breakfast cooking just outside the A-frame tent.

I wouldn’t call myself a camper, but that was fun. The memo...

Walking the Walk, Day In and Day Out

Like it or not, social media is here to stay. And while there are many things about it that I could live without, there are some good aspects, as well. Like having a greater connection with my readers via Facebook and this blog. Like keeping up to date on a more regular basis with friends and family (although, I still prefer a real letter/card, phone call, and face to face).

A few years ago, while on tour for one of my books, I had to good fortune of meeting a friend of a friend…who has since...

Let us not forget the reason for Memorial Day. waving-flag

The barbecues and parades are nice, but this day is what it is because of the men and women who have died for our freedom.

God Bless their souls and the loved ones they left behind.

Enjoy your day!
