Zombies in the Snow Parnanormal-Scope

The scent of snow is in the air. Critters of all kinds are getting excited.

While I am not qualified in any way to read neither stars nor planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.

The paranormal-scope is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant to guide your life by.

Aries:

Zombies enjoy brain ice cream. They use snow and improvise. Time to show off your creativity.

Taurus:

A group of zombies are called a hoard. What do you call one zombie wandering by himself? Lost.  Use the GPS or a map. Know where you’re going before you begin your journey.

Gemini:

Zombies love to snowboard. For a while the exhileration helps them forget about brains. Get away for a weekend to forget the stresses of work and daily life.

Cancer:

Zombies enjoy building snowmen though some lose their heads. Pursue a hobby perhaps in the arts. Enjoy the process. Join an art class.

Leo:

By chasing snowplows, zombies get their exercise. Review your exercise schedule. Is it still fun? Remember to talk to your doctor before starting something new.

Virgo:

Zombies are obsessed with snowglobes. Do you have a collection? Time to expand it.

Libra:

Never pick up hitchhikers. They maybe a zombie. Be smart and safe.

Scorpio:

Zombies have no sense of money. Evaluate your budget. Where are you spending too much? Make some cuts in anything unnecessary.

Sagittarius:

Zombies are confused by speghetti. Enjoy new restaurants with friends or family.

Capricorn:

Zombies wander at all hours. Be on time for appointments and avoid the urge to linger or wander.

Aquarius:

Zombies think chicken brains are appetizers. Try out new recipes and have a get-together with friends. Time to get cooking.

Pisces:

Zombies like making snow angels in the snow. Do something you enjoy–make more me time! You do so much for others, you deserve the time.

Top Tips to Keep your Dragon Shifter Happy by Laura Greenwood (with help from co-author, Arizona Tape)

Top Tips to keep your Dragon Shifter happy (originally created by my co-author, Arizona Tape – and borrowed with permission!)

Dragons have a deep love for their own element and will choose a drink that represents that element. They will even go as far to die their drink the right colour. Don’t question it.
Every Dragon community has their own set of curses like: “for fire’s sake” or “holy rock formation”. However, if you’re not part of their element, it’s considered rude to use it.
When they shift into their dragon form, they become a lot bigger. Make sure to have at least one room available for emergency shifts. Like the boxing gym in Dragon Soul or the training cave in the Earth community.
Fire dragons, in particular, love fire, as expected from them. Make sure to have stern rules about where and when they can play with their flames or they’ll burn your house down.
Dragons are very protective over their young and their eggs. Don’t. Touch. The. Eggs. Unless you have permission from the mother.
Dragons come of age when they’re 25 and they’ll complete their mating ritual on the birthday of the youngest of the bond. For Fire Dragons, this is a big ceremony where the whole family is invited. But if you have an Earth Dragon in your home, don’t expect to be part of their very intimate wedding.
Much is known about the three elemental dragons, Fire, Water, and Earth, but the Air Dragons are a real mystery. Even to the other communities. Almost nothing is known about them so if you spot a grey-ish dragon in the clouds, you might be one of the rare and lucky few to have seen one. Most people never do.

I’m a huge fan of interlinking series and books (in a way that still makes sense no matter which book you pick up first!) and I seem to have rubbed off on my co-author, Arizona Tape. We now have three series in our Twin Souls Universe (and book 1 of another written but not published yet!) which mostly focuses on Dragons with the occasional vampire thrown into the mix.

The funny thing is, we never planned it this way. Originally, we planned one book (Soulswap) in which vampire, Ayra, and dragon shifter, Tate, lived with soulmates who were just short of perfect…until they switched bodies and discovered the other’s soulmate was actually there. Things soon changed and the original idea became a trilogy – Soulswap told Tate’s side of the story, while Soulshift told Ayra’s, and Soultrade brought them both together and led to their happily ever after.

Then, things exploded. We were offered an opportunity that had us planning a spin-off for Ayra’s best friend, Marcus (this is the one that’s unpublished now) and wrote what I like to refer to as a paranormal rom-com for him and half-dragon, Zara. After the opportunity ended, we talked and decided Marcus and Zara deserved a series of their own…which brings us to Dragon Soul!

Dragon Soul was the series that sprang up after we realised our dragons weren’t going to let it go. There are two books out at the moment, both following Earth Dragon shifters. Torn Soul deals with not belonging and dealing with grief as it follows Holly finding her mate in Tamsin. And Bound Soul follows JJ and Porter as they meet in the online dragon only role-playing game, Realms&Rebels.

Realms&Rebels actually made its first appearance in Soulswap, and was named after the boxed set we were invited to write for that led to our latest series in the universe – The Renegade Dragons. When we first wrote Fifth Soul, it was with the intention of adding it to the Dragon Soul series…until it became clear Lola and her mates needed more stories and we added Fifth Round!

While we always try to make our co-written books fun (and both laugh a lot while writing them!) we also try and tackle some more serious issues. There’s a lot of different romantic pairings in the series, Soulswap & Torn Soul are both f/f, Bound Soul & Soulshift are both m/f (as is Marcus and Zara’s story), and the Renegade Dragons series is reverse harem. What we aim for is inclusion – it doesn’t matter what gender their mate is, or how many mates they have, that is who they love.

Got Time?

Another new year. Can you identify what has changed for you? Anything? As another year comes and goes, so do our numerous resolutions. And yet year after year, I read numerous articles on our inability to see a lot of these resolutions through… why is that? My guess is our inability to focus with the continuous influx of life’s distractions.

There are many words to sum up the human race, but these days the one that comes most to mind is impatience. Technology has made everything faster—so much so that we are often shocked when something we want isn’t done almost instantaneously. And why is this? Why are we willing to pay a premium for nonstop flights, shorter commutes and other express services? Because our time is invaluable. And as much as this feels like an issue of our modern world, it has really been an issue for centuries and more. Think about it… some of the biggest innovations in history have made huge strides in saving time or speeding up processes—cars, planes, machinery in general , electricity, the printing press, the telephone, etc.

I wish I could say that the future would lead to less demands on our time, but beyond the elusive “retirement” we each strive for, this isn’t likely. If anything, we’ll try to fit more and more within each minute of each day. So what are we to do if anything? Well, I believe this depends on each person and we all have our own limits. The key is knowing your own limits and when it is time to step back.

Happy writing this week and may you have a great start to this New Year!

Under the Sea! by Laura Greenwood

In case it wasn’t clear when I made my post about Cinderella, one of my major weaknesses is for fairy tales! So when I was given the opportunity to be a part of a boxed set of entirely Little Mermaid retellings, I was completely on board!

I’ve loved Ariel since I was really small. The Little Mermaid was my favourite Disney film growing up (though in my adulthood it has been overtaken by Tangled) and I was obsessed. For my tenth birthday, we went to Orlando (a long long way from drizzly Northern England) and I still have a photo of it. In it, ten-year-old me is wearing an Ariel outfit, complete with sparkly tail (and my brother and cousin dressed as Thing One and Thing Two from the Cat in the Hat). That year my Mum also bought me a tiny silver Ariel pendant. It remains one of my prized possessions.

But that’s not all that interesting when you want to know about my book instead! My story is called Balanced Scales and incorporates a lot of the more traditional elements of the original tale (including mermaids not having any souls). There’ll still be romance, but most of the focus will be on Mari working out how to save her soul – and those of the other mermaids.

Did I mention there’s going to be a pet seal involved?

2018 In Review by Laura Greenwood

It’s almost crazy to think we’re at the 30th December. I’m not really sure where this year has gone. It’s certainly been a year of ups and downs, that much is certain –  but it’s left me feeling very positive for 2019!

This year I launched a lot of new books, organised anthologies, did some pruning and made some tough decisions. And all of it was completely worth it!

Some firsts from this year…

I hit the top 100 of the US Store (and got Bestseller tags in four countries!) with The Paranormal Council Series – Which was my first time up so high!
I finished my first urban fantasy series, The Ashryn Barker Trilogy
I met two of my closest author friends in person for the first time – Skye MacKinnon & Bea Paige (I met Arizona Tape for the first time in 2017, though I did help her move house this year!) I’ve made some of my best friends through writing.
I heard my first book in audio – Chasing Aledwen

Of course, it’s not just a lot of things this year, it’s about putting things into motion for next year! So here’s a little of what to expect!

I’m going to have a lot of focus on finishing off series that I’ve already started
With one exception…I’m going to be releasing a brand new series in January!
I’ll be slowing down on the releases – but keeping up with getting my books turned into audiobooks too!
I’ll still be co-writing! I’m working on a secret Seven Wardens project with Skye, Stray Soul with Arizona, and Pandora’s Envy with A.K. Koonce…all coming soon!
I am still planning to take part in anthologies to offer great deals to readers and reach as many people as possible.

New Year’s Celebrations and 2019 Wishes

I will be watching the fireworks and parties on TV and staying home with my husband this year, having a more quiet celebration. 2019 is shaping up to be a year of challenges, surprises, and wonders. I will have a new book coming out soon. Rather than having New Year’s resolutions, I’d rather have wishes.

Here are my wishes.
I wish for good health.
I wish for fun.
I wish to be surrounded by my loved ones also in good health.
I wish for a life filled with love.
What do you wish for yourself?

Christmas Eve Paranormal-Scope

My grandson Liam

A big thank you to David Hilliard for covering last week.

This is a special paranormal-scope, so it’s only fitting that the elves lead the way!

While I am not qualified in any way to read neither stars nor planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.

The paranormal-scope is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant to guide your life by.

Aries:

Shawna Elf makes cookies with Reishi in them. This medicinal mushroom is used for its stress-calming, heart-opening, and mind-centering benefits. You will feel spiritual and giving this week.

Taurus:

The scent of sage fills the kitchen of Biff Elf as he bakes. Sage is known for imparting clarity and wisdom. Don’t make any fast decisions this week. Think through any opportunity that presents itself.

Gemini :

Jennie Elf is making brownies for a gathering. An unexpected invitation will open the door to a new friendship or renew an old one. Be willing to share time with someone who wants to talk to you.

Cancer:

Bill Elf loves making toys but is always available to hear of opportunities to expand his talents. You will be receiving choices for expansion, too.

Leo:

Leo Elf is making a gingerbread army. He needs companions for outdoor sports. Getting in a little outdoor time could be good for you. You are going to feel everything deeply this week.

Virgo:

Monica Elf is cleaning and making all the beds with new linens. Company coming!

Libra:

Mick Elf is making soup at the soup kitchen. He’s excited because he’s met another volunteer and it may open a business opportunity for him. Charity starts in the heart.

Scorpio:

Lorna Elf is making sugar cookies to bring to the office. She wants to make new friends and delight older ones.

Sagittarius:

Zippy Elf is baking chocolate chip cookies and singing a tune. A surprise will make you smile.

Capricorn:

Phoebe Elf lifts the tray of almond cookies out of the oven. She is bringing them to an old friend she treasures. Spend time with a true treasure in your life.

Aquarius:

Sasha Elf dances around in her shoes with the bells on them. Put on your dancing shoes and enjoy the social events coming your way.

Pisces:

Tim Elf puts on his new suit. While the office parties are mandatory, new connections can be made. Keep your ears open and your smile bright.

For those of our readers that celebrate,

may your Christmas be bright and joyful!
