I Forgot to Turn Forward the Clock Paranormal-Scope
Photo by Quino Al on Unsplash
While I am not qualified in any way to read neither stars nor planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.
The paranormal-scope is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant to guide your life by.
Aries:
Gargolyes have taken to the sky and eaten all the birdseed in my husband’s bird feeder. Oh well, even this will pass. In the meantime, buy more food.
Taurus:
Big Foot has gotten new shoes. It’s time to redo the wardrobe. Out with the worn and old and in with the fun and exciting.
Gemini:
Nessie had returned home for a nap and plan a vacation with little ones. Plan a weekend away to re-energize. Do something new.
Cancer:
Werewolves howl just because they can. Set up a play date with friends. Embrace the extra energy that comes with spring.
Leo:
Shapeshifters have embraced the morning time with some slow walking as they admire the sunrise. The early morning can be restorative to one’s peace of mind.
Virgo:
Wereowls are hooting up the morning. A little freezing rain has them hopping. Don’t let the weather get you down. It’s nothing a good cup of tea and a scone can’t fix.
Libra:
A vampire strolls down the empty boulevard. After the party malaise, gives the reveler pause to reflect on his or her life. Time for self reflection.
Scorpio:
Pixies flit here and there in the early sunbeams. They leave their dust behind. You are about to have an enchanted week.
Sagittarius:
Mermaids float on the surf in a lazy way. Time doesn’t matter much to them. Every morning brings a new delight. Take a walk on the beach.
Capricorn:
Faery gold glitters by your feet. It’s up to you to bend down and pick them up.
Aquarius:
Elves had an agenda for the day. There was a meeting but no one showed up. Don’t sweat it. Skip on to the next thing on your list. Lunch. Eat something healthy that makes you happy.
Pisces:
A Yeti wanders aimlessly trying to figure out the time. Eventually forgetting, he opts of nap. Get some extra me time for yourself.

Why the mix of relationship types? by Laura Greenwood
It’s not something I ever really address, but anyone who has read my books may have noticed that there are a variety of relationship types. I have books that involve m/f, f/f and polyamorous relationships – all in the same universes. (If you’re wondering why m/m is missing, I just happen not to have written it yet!)
But why do I include them all in the same universe?
Because that’s life. Not everyone has the m/f experience, and not everyone wants it (including my characters. I don’t get a say in their sexualities, they just tell me and I have to role with it.) Love should be celebrated no matter what the form, and I like to do that with my writing.
The most important thing – it’s not all about the sex! I have all three relationship types in books that don’t have any open door sex scenes at all (I also have the opposite – books in all three types that have an open door too!)
But I do need to give a shout out to Skye MacKinnon and Arizona Tape…if I hadn’t met them nearly 2 years ago, then I’d never have had the courage to explore quite so much!

Prepare to Spring Forward
Photo by Biegun Wschodni on Unsplash
We are sincerely hoping that our winter will end soon. It’s been hard on everyone. Officially Spring Forward in the United States starts at 2 am on Sunday, March 10th. It will end at 2 pm on Sunday, November 3rd. These times are Eastern Time. Thus begins Daylight Savings Time in the US. Tonight before I go to bed, I will be setting my clock ahead one hour.
Yes, you lose an hour of sleep but it’s still the weekend so you can rest your body by going to bed an hour earlier on Sunday night. It will give you an additional hour of sunlight around suppertime. Smart clocks and devices will automatically set themselves. In my house, we have several clocks we will have to change the old fashioned way.
Historically, Benjamin Franklin thought this was a great idea. However, it wasn’t acted upon until the Spring of 1918 in World War 1 and was meant to save on coal and last only during the war. The US government reinstated the practice in 1966. In 2007, the Department of Transportation expanded on the idea to last 65% of the year. They are responsible in the US for setting the change, which they say benefits the country by saving energy, cutting down on traffic accidents, and reducing the crime rate.
You would think it was a country-wide practice, but it’s not. Most of Arizona and Hawaii do not participate. American Samoa, Guan, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands do not change their time either.
Some people really enjoy having that extra hour of sunlight to do fun things outside. Are you one of them? I’m still waiting for Connecticut to melt.
On the other hand, I would love to see a later Florida sunset over Tampa Bay, sitting on the hotel balcony and watching the sun touch the water.

Each Day We Improve
It’s one of those weeks that feel like a blur and by the end of my days I feel like my mouth is literally just sputtering because it is all out of steam. Surprisingly, my fingers have quite a bit of energy to type away—must have been all that time I spent writing that got them accustomed to the work load. Either way, you get the point, I’m exhausted.
I realize that we are ever busy and this seems to be the state of most people I talk to but for me, this particular busy is new because of a new position I took on at work. It’s funny as I realized it would be more work but even still, it is hard to conceptualize exactly what that feels like. And the other thing that we rarely factor in is that we aren’t quite as efficient at doing the new role as we may have been with the old role. I take longer to do things, I’m not as efficient or effective, but this is to be expected. Bottom line, I know that with time I will gain efficiencies, speed and effectiveness.
Lessons learned? Sometimes it is okay to be tired or exhausted. Most important is that we work in some time for relaxation and sanity. Each day is a learning experience and with that we grow to improve ourselves in some way and somehow.
Happy writing this week!

It’s Snowing! A Good Day for Inside Hobbies! Shout out if you Have Snow!
It’s snowing here in Connecticut. My indoor miniature Lavender rose bush has two roses with one bud still to open. All three love the window. That cut off tree you see is a feeding station for birds.
If you’re in the snow zone, be safe. It’s time for inside hobbies like working with clay, playdoh, coloring, crocheting, watching movies, or whatever tickles your fancy. Napping even applies.
Most of all, be safe. Shout out to me in the comment box if you have snow, too! Come on make my day!

A Lotta Being Sick
Is it me, or does the world just seem sick lately? Okay, so that is a really loaded question but in this instance I am actually talking about all the coughing, throat clearing, watery eyes, sore throats – you get the picture. Beyond this, the sprinkle of Ebola virus updates from NPR certainly isn’t positive either but that’s a whole different level of sick.
No really, everywhere I look these days, folks seem to be sick and part of it I’m sure is the season as the flu seems to be rampant this year in the schools, but the other part of me wonders if we are just doing something different that makes us more susceptible?
I will start by saying that I am not a doctor nor have I ever studied medicine. Like any curious person out there I have search Web MD extensively as either myself or my kids have fallen ill at some time or another. This all being said, I often question my own “healthiness” with my sedentary job and off-kilter eating habits. I do exercise with some degree of consistency and I do eat my vitamins every day but lately it always seems that I am fighting off some illness as those around me (at work and at home) ride the ups and downs of the season. It could be my suspicions are right and that we all are just a bit more sick lately or perhaps this is the way the cycle works… who knows? Either way, I figure it can’t hurt to put healthy practices into play (more eating right, getting rest, etc.). If anything, I may reap other benefits such as being in a great mood more often, right (one can only hope!)?
Happy writing this week!

Zombie Mardi Gras Blues Paranormal-Scope
Photo by Tanner Boriack on Unsplash
Winds blow the world around and everything seems upside down but it will straighten out in time. Be patient.
While I am not qualified in any way to read neither stars nor planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.
The paranormal-scope is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant to guide your life by.
Aries:
The Mardi Gras vibe is in the air and zombies are gathering as they love a party. Lay low to avoid negative people.
Taurus:
Zombies love to wear feathes for Mardi Gras and that’s about it. Re-examine your wardrobe. Get some new outfits. Don’t get feathers.
Gemini:
Beads distract zombies. Don’t be distracted by an opportunity that glitters. It may not be the gold you are seeking.
Cancer:
Zombies love slow jazz. It sort of goes with their walk. They drool into Hurricane drinks. Don’t overindulge in anything at this time. It can come back and bite you.
Leo:
Zombies know the blues first hand. Feeling low? Talk to family or friends. Getting it off your chest will make you stronger.
Virgo:
Zombies like to dance in a straight line. Why? No one knows. Dance to your own drummer. This may be the time to follow your bliss.
Libra:
Making beaded necklaces is not a zombie’s strength. It’s the lack of coordination. Consider starting to gain balance yoga. Always check with your physician first when starting a new exercise.
Scorpio:
Some zombies prefer the day after Mardi Gras. They like to pick up whatever is left behind. Vintage things might be trash or there maybe treasure. Look through your old things.
Sagittarius:
Zombies are confused by crowds. They can’t move forward. Plan a weekend away to spend time with your close ones.
Capricorn:
When the rhythm gets going, zombies are great dances. You are hitting your stride in your profession. Go with the flow. Enjoy it.
Aquarius:
When the parades end and the dances are done, zombies head for the bar on Bourbon Street to mumble about their escapades. Go to bed early and avoid who you might meet in a bar.
Pisces:
Zombies aren’t the only ones that like gathering with friends. Plan a friends party or “bring a dish” dinner. Be open to new taste sensations.

A Little About My Writing Process by Laura Greenwood
I’m not all that sure what it was that made me decide on this topic, maybe it’s the various things going around about writing at the moment. But I thought I’d share some of the stuff about my writing process! I guess and my publishing process too.
I won’t share timelines and stuff – mostly because they really vary by book, series, length, the time I personally have, etc.
Plotting
I didn’t used to plot. I was a hardcore panster, making it up as I went along and working the rest out later. But then I took a course on how to actually plot and all that changed. Some of my co-writes are still pantsed, but for my solo books, I much prefer plotting them out. This can happen when I have the idea, just before I start writing, or when I’ve just finished the previous book in the series.
Writing
I write books start to finish, very rarely having scenes written for later in the book before I get there – I tried it once, and it ended badly for me! (Not for the reader, just for me trying to get them to fit!) If I’m writing on my own, I use a site called 4thewords.com where it turns writing into a game. If I’m writing with one of my friends, we’ll use mywriteclub.com where we “race” against one another in short 25 minute sprints. During this phase, I’ll send passages to my writing chat (and sometimes even chapters if I’m unsure about them) and talk through any plot blocks I get.
Revising (including but not limited to the editing and beta process)
Easily the most painful part for me. This is where I learn just what’s wrong with my book and try to fix it!
Covers
This is probably in the wrong place of this – I have covers already for some books I won’t publish until 2020. Normally, I like to have a full series of covers before I release book one – so I know I won’t get held up having to wait!
Formatting
This is normally a very last minute thing for me (because my formatter – Gina Writes Words – is an absolute angel). This is the last thing before I lock in a final file.
Start work on the next one…
Though actually, this is inaccurate as I work on multiple things at a time! I write almost every day on one of my projects – even when something is in the revision stage!

Gazing at Romania and Looking for Contributing Bloggers
Photo by Majkl Velner on Unsplash
Since my next book is based in Romania, I thought I would would give you some viritual sightseeing of the country. Built between 1873 and 1914, it was the former summer home of the Romanian royal family. Currently is owned by the country and is a museum. Note: They close it in November for cleaning, but if you are in Romania at other times, it is a definite must see.

Even though Bran Castle (above) built in 1211 is often referred to as Dracula’s Castle, it’s not really. Vlad Tepes was a ruling prince of Wallachia. Not Transylvania. This castle is on the border between the two. Also Dracula the vampire is a fiction. Vlad Tepes was also known as Vlad Dracula. His father was Vlad Dracul. Historically, speaking Vlad was only at this castle for two months as a prisoner and then was transferred to another. This castle was the home of the royal family of Romania. It was taken over by the Communists after WWII and made into a museum. In 2009, it was returned to the royal heirs. It is currently a museum and another must see.
