I saw this quote in a meme recently, and it has uplifted me at a time when I greatly needed it. My mother is very sick; we’re losing her to cancer. So many times each day I find myself holding my breath, literally and figuratively. This pain isn’t unique to me; we all have to deal with the stress of impending loss and the grief when that end comes. I wish I had a glib answer that would mitigate life’s lows, but alas, I don’t.
Huxley’s words helped me. I hope they help you, too.
Wherever you are in life’s journey, no matter what troubles haunt you, please remember to breathe deeply and walk lightly…

Magnificent Trees
Last week, my kids had spring break and we had the privilege of seeing the Redwood National Park in California. I had always known that the redwood trees were enormous but even with this knowledge I was unprepared for just how magnificent they were in person. I could sit and try to describe this for you all but instead, I’m going to share pictures. So sit back and enjoy…
I realize that these pictures can’t do these trees justice, but hopefully they provide a moment of pleasure taking a look. See if you can find my son standing beside a tree.The last picture is not of a redwood tree but this is the view from a restaurant in the little town of Trinidad, California.

Winged Things Paranormal-Scope
There are many paranormal winged things. We hear the flutter of their wings but for the most part, don’t notice them.

Were-hummingbirds can fly upwards, downwards, sideways, and upsidedownways. Being flexible is a huge asset for them. It is your asset as well.

Were-honey bees love their queen. Keep in touch with the queen bee of your family or friend group. Plan a get-together.
Gemini:
The Flying Fox is clever and knows where it is flying before taking that leap. Investigate your options thoroughly before signing anything.
Cancer:
The Flying Devil Ray leaps out of the water to attract attention. Some new wardrobe items will have the same effect.
Leo:
The Were-Japanese Flying Squid soars through waves with jet propulsion by expelling water, ink, and waste. Time to free yourself from clutter so you can soar too.

The were-Draco Lizard glides from tree to tree. Perhaps a short vacation can be planned for your future. somewhere fun and easy to get to.

Were-Flying Fish love the exercise of jumping and soaring. Before starting a new exercise routine, check with your physician.

Were-Butterflies are starting to appear. They dance in the winds. Add more music to your life and dance or sway.
Aquarius:
Were-Bats are a delight. They love fruit. Consider adding more fruit to your diet. Ask your doctor about it.
Pisces:
Pegasus flies out of his way to give you a gift. It may not be visible, but it is there all the same. Enjoy!

Sunny Sunday Assorted Sundries By Susan Hanniford Crowley
Hi Everyone,
Well, I still have Covid, so I am watching TV, writing, and eating chicken soup. Though lately, since I am feeling a bit better, I can eat some other things too.
When Love Survives was the start of my career as a paranormal romance author. Lots of people think back to where they were when 9/11 happened. I was teaching my ninth-grade English class when I got a phone call that we would be having an assembly.
The students had great questions: “Would we be attacked next because we’re near the Submarine Base? What do we do if it looks like we’ll be attacked?”
Some parents came and took their children out of school. Most did not and those that remained worried. I suggested a tour of the school basement. Our school was in an old style building, so we had an excellent basement. Once the students saw the basement, they felt a little better. But all in all, it was a very shakey day.
One relative was supposed to return to work at the World Trade Center that day after maternity leave. She didn’t feel well and called in sick. All the phone lines were busy, so we didn’t know until later that she was home instead.
I didn’t write When Love Survives until a few years later. I had dreamt about it, which is where my books start, but often I do a ton of research on top of that. I told a friend and she loaned me her collection of newspapers from that time. About 20 papers in all. I read every word. I read blogs of survivors, witnesses, and rescuers.

How difficult is it to take one of the most devastating events in our country’s history and create a tale filled with compassion, hope, and love? Author Susan Hanniford Crowley delivers on all counts reminding her readers how even in life’s most horrific moments love and honor can triumph over evil in this page-turner of a story.
I immediately became attached to the story’s cast of characters, both the Nat’s (supernatural’s) and the humans who all come together to help as best they can on the day of the attack, but, I especially loved Regina, the half-elf heroine who realizes on the morning of September 11th she can hear the cries of the survivors and the dying calling to her in her head and goes to help at the attack site despite knowing her presence there could well drain her of her life source. Gregor, the protective, shapeshifting hero is a perfect match to Regina’s vulnerability as he tries to help the victims of the tragedy and keep the woman he realizes is his life-mate safe. The sexy and very hot love story between Regina and Grego takes nothing away from the emotional laden core of this story. This is a don’t miss read in my opinion for a wonderfully talented writer.

For The Love Of…New Covers by Artemis Crow
It’s spring again! Time for growth and changes and renewal.
If you’re self-published like me, finding the right cover designer can be a trial. I’m on my third iteration of covers for the books in my Zodiac Assassins series, but this time, three’s the charm! I decided to go to covers that had a symbol instead of people. In my genre, Urban Fantasy, having a strong woman with a sword seems to be the norm. I’m not saying you should necessarily make the change I did, but I wanted a cover that looked gritty and worn and spoke of an old-world unseen by humans.
My cover designer, Holly Roberds, knocked it out of the park. We’ll see if readers agree.

Life’s Journey
I had a great conversation with a friend this week about finding ourselves. She, like many of us, has had a rough last couple of years. Simply put, they’ve been life-changing. And perhaps this was all for the best but she couldn’t have known that from the very beginning.
The person who she has become today it’s very different from the person I knew three years ago.
My friends experience got me thinking about our own individual journey. We each have our own journey in life; our own mistakes to make, our own mountains to climb and our own prizes to win. Our journeys are unique and our goals are our own.
My seven year old told me this week that he was worried he wouldn’t be successful in life. My initial inclination was to laugh and tell him he had nothing to worry about right now but instead, I paused and asked him how he defined success. He told me that he thought of it as being happy and I told him with an answer like that, he was already ahead in his journey.
Now granted, being happy can stem from many different things, but true long-term happiness is likely not found in materialistic ways— at least not for long.

Smartest Paranormal Animals Paranormal-Scope

Were-crows will memorize a garbage truck’s route, in order to get the best stuff. Are you a creature of habit? Perhaps it’s best to know an alternate route to work before it’s needed.
Cancer:
Were-octopi are the best escape artists in the world. They are flexible and up to new challenges. Are you? Changes to come will be better if you are flexible.
Leo:
Scientists recently found that adult were-chimpanzees were teaching their young sign language without human interaction. They are self-starters. Start a new project in your home that you’ve always wanted to do.
Virgo:
The were-bottle-nosed dolphin is a great collaborator not only with humans but with whales and other types of dolphins. Consider collaborating with colleagues on a project.
Libra
Were-orangutans are considered the smartest and sadly, on the endangered list due to loss of habitat. What can you do to help others, especially those without a home?
Scorpio:
The average were-dog can learn 165 human words. They are always learning. Think about taking a course or online course on a subject you would love to know more about.
Sagittarius:
Were-elephants will eat certain plants to cure an illness and that’s only one example of their intelligence. They know how to take care of themselves. Are you up-to-date with your checkups?
Capricorn:
Were-African Grey Parrots are great detectives. They take into account clues and also what is not there. In every problem, be sure to take in the entire picture.
Aquarius:
When were-bees are trying to decide on a new hive, they send scouts. The scouts return and do a dance-off. The bees vote for the best dancing scout by dancing his dance, then go to his chosen spot for the new hive. Add some new music to your collection!
Pisces:
Were-squirrels will hide a nut under an arm or in a cheek while pretending to hide their precious nuts in a hole. In this way, they fake out their competitor! Always look out! Some things are real. Some are not! Or nut!

An Assorted Sundries Saturday By Susan Hanniford Crowley
Hi Everyone,
I’d like to talk about a bunch of stuff. If I’m not eloquent today, I can blame Covid which has descended on my house. It’s weird. We wear a mask everywhere, and I am still trying to figure out how we got it.
Anyway, when you’re feeling down and out miserable and surviving on Chicken soup, it’s important to do what makes you feel comfortable and if you fall asleep, that’s okay too.
I’m not watching the news. It makes me cry. So I’m watching fantasy only. Right now I have the movie ‘Warm Bodies’ on. I have read the book too. It’s very good.

What do I love about Vampire Princess of New York as the author? I love her history, her passion, and her commitment to continuing the search for her mother lost prior to the French Revolution. I also am still deeply entranced by her love story.
I am also reading albeit slowly two books:
Inspired by the Netflix Original Series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina-Path of Night, an original novel by Sarah Rees Brennan. If you watched the series on tv, this book, and the others which are prior to this fill in all the intriguing details you’d want to know. They are exciting and fun and always unpredictable!
For my education, since an author’s education never stops, I’m reading The Emotion Thesaurus: A Writer’s Guide to Creative Expression by Angela Ackerman and Becca Puglist. I’m not very far but what I’ve read so far has been very insightful and helpful.
