The Disaster Paranormal-Scope

Lately, we seem besieged by disasters. Fires! Tornadoes! Hurricanes! Be prepared and remain calm.

While I am not qualified to read either stars or planets I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.

The paranormal-scope is for entertainment and is not meant to guide your life.

Aries:
Vampires take all news with a calm demeanor. When there are troubles, they seclude themselves with all their necessities and enjoy a good book. Do the same.

Taurus:
Werewolves love exploring but then there are times it’s better to be home with the pack. Gather those you love for an event. Enjoy your treasure of love.

Gemini:
When overstressed, it is important that you have a happy place in which to regroup. A famous scientist would retreat to the bathroom. Shapeshifters are successful in their lives because they have a happy place.

Cancer:
Faeries can taste the weather of Fall arriving. They are already making their homes more cozy and weatherproof. Do the same.

Leo:
Goblins are very careful with money. You have reached the cycle where money management is a priority.

Virgo:
Sprites run very fast. They don’t always look where they’re going. Take more care before investing in new opportunities that are coming your way.

Libra
Pixies love their freedom, but miss the company of more reserved fae. Slow down a bit and spend time with those that appreciate you.

Scorpio:
Dragons love doing small things to help their community. They move rocks. You can do smaller things and still find joy in it.

Sagittarius:
Elves are detail-oriented. Be sure to double-check everything you do this week.

Capricorn:
Mermaids focus on their goals before heading out into the vast ocean. Create a step-by-step path to reach your objectives.

Aquarius:
Pegasus dances in the sky to the music around the world. Consider adding to your music collection.

Pisces:
Like the Phoenix, you can be reborn! Study the things you’ve always wanted to. Enjoy new adventures, new food, and new music. Have more fun in your life.

Life Tools: Prevent Burnout By Susan Hanniford Crowley

Most of the time, we work too hard. Here are some ways to prevent burnout. I’m going to tell you what has helped me.

Comfort TV – I was on Twitter and today a writer asked what people watched for Comfort TV. I use it to distract myself from any current problems. Over 33 years ago, I went every day to visit my husband in the hospital while he waited for a heart transplant. Sometimes I took my little girls with me, sometimes relatives cared for them. It was a grueling 6-month wait. Late at night when I was very sad, I was switching TV channels and came upon Night Court starring Harry Anderson playing Judge Harry Stone. His silly and irreverent humor mixed with moments of wisdom made me laugh on the saddest nights of my life.

My husband got a heart, and we’ve had such fun over the years. I still remember Night Court and Harry Anderson with fondness.

Comfort Food – Now this food doesn’t have to be extravagant. It’s usually food that has a memory to it like when my mother used to make me buttered egg noodles when I wasn’t well.

Comfort Place – This can be your special place in your house where you do things that you enjoy. Knitting. Painting. A book nook for writing or reading. It all depends on you. I could even be your bathtub with bubbles. While it is nice to have your Comfort Place at home, you might also have a special place you like to visit. That is worth doing to release the daily grind from grinding on you.

Comfort Book – If overstressed, I will take out a favorite book and read it again. I have made myself a favorite book box that I keep under my bed. I can’t name a favorite.

Comfort Movie – The first Guardians of the Galaxy movie always takes me out of my own head and into a comfortable happy place. Doing a marathon of comfort movies is always a good thing.

Comfort People and Pets – Hanging out with someone that makes you happy is a wonderful way to relax and let go of worries, whether it’s playing games or just chatting. Hug a Comfort Person and Pet today


Preventing burnout boils down to reserving time for yourself and those you love. You are important!

Fight the Fight

2023 has been a year two tests every emotion I possess. And perhaps the news focuses on a lot of the negative or perhaps there just is a lot going on right now, but as I sit and watch, continued updates rule out of the recent fires in Maui, I can’t help but shake my head at what a year this has been.
Personally, this has been a year that I can really look back at and complain about. And I am saying this, even though I am an overall really positive and optimistic person. Admittedly, this has been a year to test that positivity, but I am going to try.
So what am I planning to do? I am going to hang onto the cliché. I’m going to realize that what doesn’t destroy me only makes me stronger. I’m going to bow my head and push forward until I reach the other side. And I am going to be grateful for all the good I have in my life—and I do have a lot of good. I’m not going this road alone. I have friends and family that lift me up. I know this journey won’t last forever.
For those of you out there who are also climbing your own mountains or fighting your own battles, I’m cheering you on.

The Hummingbird Moth Paranormal-Scope

I don’t often dedicate a paranormal-scope to one particular possibly paranormal life form, but the Hummingbird Moth aka Sphinx or Hawk Moth has earned it. Their caterpillar form eats lots and entire plants at times. However, their moth form is such a wonderful pollinator, It flies as far as 18 miles away to visit plants and a large variety of plants too. The distance it covers is larger than most bees and birds.

Because its pollinating range is so valuable, farmers are finding other ways to placate this creature in its caterpillar form such as setting aside an extra garden just for them. When they see one in the big garden, they pick up the 6-inch green caterpillar and move it to the sacrificial garden. Their benefits outweighs any loss.

Hummingbird Moths just want to have fun! So do you. Spend time on your hobbies or favorite games.

Taurus:
Hummingbird Moths eat well in their caterpillar stage, so they can become a moth and polllinate like crazy. Self-care is very important right now.

Gemini:
Hummingbird Moths live off the grid. Perhaps an off the grid vacation or weekend is in your future. Think of the relaxation. Consider it.

Cancer:
Being socially conscious is the code the Hummingbird Moth lives by. This might be a good time to volunteer or donate to your favorite charity.

Leo:
Hummingbird Moths are not like other moths, and they are okay with that. Are you having a crisis knowing how you fit in the world? Your life title is not your job. Go out and meet new people.

Virgo:
All moths have those moments when things get confusing and they flutter about aimlessly. You might find that happening to you as well. Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don’t make quick important decisions.

Libra
Hummingbird Moths love flying around and making new friends, but they are cautious when approaching a flower. You might want to take a tip from this moth.

Scorpio:
Hummingbird Moths fly during the day! The moths doesn’t mind hanging out with other Hummingbird Moths. Sometimes teams and partners are more productive. Think how this might help you.

Sagittarius:
In their 18 mile perimeter, the Hummingbird Moth, loves to explore new places. You have the time to plan a weekend getaway before Autumn starts.

Capricorn:
No one knows more about transformation than a moth. Change is ahead for you. Learn all the facts and put on your best face. Listen. Learn. Network. Be smart in your choices.

Aquarius:
Hummingbird Moths have less eyes but more complex ones that can see more. When you investigate some of the opportunities coming up for you, you will see more and understand.

Pisces:
Hummingbird Moths are a symbol of good luck. One has been hovering outside your window. It must think you’re a flower.

The blood oozed into her mouth, as he pressed his arm against her lips. At first, she choked and sputtered but then finally accepted it. Laura tried not to think about what it really was. The warmth reminded her of ginger tea with a citrus tang.

“Since I am your sire, my blood will give you a balanced mind. You will not need to feed again until tonight.”

After a few more minutes, she pushed him away. The wound on his arm healed before her eyes. Wide-eyed, she smiled. “I feel so strong and well. I don’t ache or hurt anywhere.” Then his reference to being her sire struck her. “So you own me now!” Her anger flared again along with her strength. She slapped him.

“What was that for?” He held his hand to his cheek.

“Oh, I don’t know. You made me a vampire and now you own me. Take your pick.”

David gazed upward. “This isn’t going well.”

“Who are you talking to?”

“God.”

Laura scoffed. “A vampire talks to God? Does God answer you?”

David frowned at her and sighed. ”God apparently has one hell of a sense of humor.”

“What does that mean?”

“Never mind. Let’s get back to the subject at hand. No, I do not own you. I have no claim on you whatsoever. You are free to decide where you want to be and with whom. I’ll help you get started, that’s all.” With every word, he seemed more uncomfortable. “We do have a blood tie though, so if you ever need my help, just think of me and I’ll come. I’ll find you.”

Her anger dissipated. Laura enjoyed seeing him vulnerable. And he didn’t hit her back. She smiled. “I don’t know your name.”

“I’m David Hilliard.”

This time she gently touched his face. “I’m Laura Cordelais.”

He held her hand to his cheek and closed his eyes.

Laura gasped as she realized her surroundings. “Do you live here?”

“No.” He chuckled. “I just needed to get you out of the sun. I have an apartment.”

“Well, that’s a relief. I thought I’d have to live in a cemetery.”

They both laughed.

Laura looked around at the grim tomb. A spider crawled up the stone wall nearest her, and she trembled.

“I’m afraid of small, closed spaces. And bugs.”

He enclosed her in his arms. “Don’t be afraid. As soon as it’s dark, we’ll leave.”

Her mouth was so close to his, she could almost taste him. Then he pressed his firm lips against hers.

Hmm. He tastes of honey. I love honey.

Their fangs knocked together. Laura giggled nervously.

“Shall we try that again?” he suggested.

She nodded.

David gently took her chin and tilted her head slightly. Then his lips possessed hers again. Laura tingled from head to toe and wondered if a vampire was capable of love. She hoped David was.

When their lips parted, Laura frowned.

“I’m still angry with you.”

“Really? You don’t sound that angry.”

“I’m furious with you. I mean you made me a vampire.”

“Are you furious?” He carefully pushed a hair off her face and kissed her forehead.

“Now that’s not fair. Are you using your hypnotic powers on me?”

“No. I want everything between us to be real.” He kissed her left temple and moved down her jaw line. His mouth caressed her lips. His tongue rubbed her fangs.

The First SummerWeen By Susan Hanniford Crowley

What is SummerWeen? It really is a Halloween party in the summer, well, sort of. Some of the kids and adults wore costumes and some did not. On welcoming people to the party, the kids were each handed a tote bag with their name on it for the first event.

It was warmer/hotter outside so only the first event, the Hunt for Treats was outside. We had put up the tombstones and Halloween signs and hidden little brown paper bags of treats & small toys behind them. Each bag had the first initial of a child. In this way, you can make the treats and little toys age appropriate. Moms can help the smaller ones.

Then everyone took their totes with them inside to the living room. It was easier to open the smaller bags into the larger bags so they could see what they won. Included among the tiny toys were bracelets and Wednesday Addams pins. (I had intel that some attendees were big fans of Wednesday.)

After the fun of discovery was over. The fortune teller waved her hand over her magic ball. After she told each fortune, each child reached into a bag and pulled up a stuffed creature that would help them on their life quest.

We watched a movie, played a board game called Unicorn Doctor, and ate pizza and sundaes. Above is our famous sundae with eyes. (The sundae includes ice cream flavors of chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and mint chocolate with hot fudge, whipped creams, and sprinkles if requested but all with candy eyes.)

Since I have a grandkids’ room in my house, they often went there to play with toys as they wished. Some went outside and used their bubble wands to create bubbles.

I have found that you can plan and orchestrate a party for children, but the party flows with them. Fun was enjoyed by all and that is the important part.

My oldest daughter and I created SummerWeen for a new family holiday or tradition. The date of where it will happen in future summers is not fixed. It will happen at our whim.

A Soft Wind Paranormal-Scope

There is a soft wind blowing. I wonder what’s up?

Can I do it?

I’m on vacation so I’m going to keep today’s post a bit shorter this week. The past couple weeks I’ve been writing about being intentional and taking care of ourselves (physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually) so I’ve decided to put it into practice and go on vacation. The truth is the timing just worked out since we had a family vacation planned.
I’m writing this ahead of time so I’ll have to see just how much I can follow through, but the plan is to exercise, eat better, meditate and read! I’ve got kids so realistically I’ll be doing much more, but we have to start somewhere right? Can I do it? Ever the optimist, I think so.
