Rain Again Paranormal-Scope

It’s been one of those rainy days again.

While I am not qualified to read either stars or planets I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.

Aries:
Mermaids smile a lot. You can benefit by smiling. People are going to start recognizing your talents.

Taurus:
Sirens can feel excitement in the air. Follow your bliss, and you will make some amazing discoveries.

Pegasus has a sanctuary. Time to make yours comfy and secure!

Cancer:
Aslan roars. He enjoys meeting new people. New friends are coming your way too. Dress your best and smile.

Leo:
Wereowls have a keen insight into anything shiny. Your budget is of paramount importance. Be careful of your spending at this time.

Virgo:
Sprites always jump the gun. Take things slowly. Find out what you really want in life.

Libra
Vampires love to decorate. Decorate your abode for Halloween or Autumn, whichever you prefer.

Scorpio:
Werewolves have an innate social talent. Spend some time on social media and just have fun with it. Not too much fun. Don’t say anything you wouldn’t want your boss or mother to know.

Sagittarius:
Elves know the true power is in being yourself. Stop comparing yourself to others. Stars all have an individual glow.

Capricorn:
Dragons know when something isn’t true. There is a lot of illusion out there. Don’t fall for a scam.

Aquarius:
Faeries enjoy social occasions. Try it. You might have some fun.

Pisces:
Shapeshifters know some people are worth going through hard times together because you both come out better. Remember this.

Lovely Things I’ve Found By Susan Hanniford Crowley

As I go through life, there are things I chance upon that are fun, help me to relax, and let me enter another world for a while. Here are three lovely things. (Please, note that the authors and publishers do not know I am talking about them here and I’m not paid to do so. I am not a reviewer,

Daphne’s Diary – My daughter Cera came upon it in a Barnes and Noble store. It is a luscious magazine of soft colors, hobbies, crafts (including push-out things you can put together), recipes (that you can push out along the perforation to use and put in your recipe book or box, travel photos of wonderful places, and artists at their work. You can send for it through Daphne’s Diary.
Moonlight Over Montana by Lucinda Race is a wonderful contemporary Western love story. I was entranced from the get-go, and I read mostly paranormal romance. There is nothing like looking at stars through the hero’s eyes. It’s a must-read. I got it on Amazon.
For the writers: Your Book Starts Here by Mary Carroll Moore. It’s subtitled Create, Craft, and Sell Your First Novel, Memoir, or Nonfiction Book. That is a great description of what the book can teach you. I have known Mary for a great many years. I also attended one of her workshops and learned genuinely helpful information that I could immediately put to use in writing my books. I got it from Amazon.

When You Are Ready

Perhaps it is the recent hot weather and the idea of fall around the corner, or perhaps it is that my life has changed so much over the past few weeks, but I am looking forward to the prospect of a new start.

I usually think about this around year end as we head towards the start of a new year, and most often these resolutions of mine consist of getting in shape, being more financially savvy with my own funds, and eating right. This time it feels different. for the past few years, I have taken care of my father as his primary caregiver, and while his absence fills me with sadness, I find myself evaluating my life in a very different way.

Yeah, sure I want to eat right and exercise more, but it goes beyond that and that I want to be a better and healthier person in many different ways. I want to stand straighter, literally. All my sedentary time in front of a computer or bending over to help my father has left my shoulders curved, and I want to work on straightening those shoulders of mine.

I want to help my kids with their homework and take those fleeting opportunities to chaperone their field trips. I want to be around and I want to be around in a present and healthy way. And that is going to require some conscious steps on my part— at least as much as we can control. Part of me is angry that I’ve waited so long to have this realization or Drive but another, more logical part realizes the time just wasn’t right.

So today I leave you with a thought—strive for more and strive for what you want. It may take some time for you to be ready and that is okay. It will come.

More Rain Paranormal-Scope

I am facing a week of rain. All I can say is that if you are facing the same be careful.

While I am not qualified to read either stars or planets I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.

A power outage lost the original version, so I have written the paranormal-scope again as my ‘save the draft’ didn’t. Enjoy!

Aries:
Mermaids know that leprechaun gold disappears. Take care with overspending this week. Not all that shines is gold.

Taurus:
Sirens can feel the change into Autumn through the waters and the scenery. Time to enjoy all the things you do in Fall.

Gemini:
Pegasus loves a cozy place to nap. Think about creating a nap nook for yourself, filled with blankets, pillows, and a book or two.

Cancer:
Aslan roars. The lion knows what he’s roaring about. Fortify your home and create emergency supplies for upcoming storms.

Leo:
Wereowls see more than most. Opportunities will come, but investigate each to see if it is worth your time and money.

Virgo:
Sprites are known for their speed. The next project will focus on quality first. Make a reasonable timeline instead of cutting corners. The quality will be important in the long run.

Libra
Vampires use their sleep for recharging and focusing on self-improvement. You may choose to do the same for your benefit.

Scorpio:
Werewolves have a talent for making new friends. Socialize and meet new people. The goal is friendship not necessarily networking.

Sagittarius:
Elves are very methodical in working toward any goal. Analyze your career options and write down steps you can take to improve your current position.

Capricorn:
Dragons have the whole world open to them. You do too. Be creative! Take a class! Meet new people! Cherish your friends!

Aquarius:
Faeries go through regular transformations to become better. Be the best you. Consider how to rid yourself of bad habits and replace them with habits that will move you forward toward your goals.

Pisces:
Shapeshifters embrace all their different talents. Let your creative side rule this week. Indulge a favorite passion or hobby.

Writing Tools: How I Named My Characters in The Vampire with a Blanket of Stars By Susan Hanniford Crowley

How do I name my characters? The same way I give names to my children or pets. Even if I get the name in a dream, I usually research it. I don’t want to give them names that belong to real people currently living if I can possibly help it. With children, I sometimes pass on family names.

Here’s a look behind my paranormal adventure steamy romance A Vampire with Blanket of Stars.

The hero Razvan Forte is the Vampire Prince of Romania. I dreamt of the first name and had to look up the meaning. Razvan is a Romanian name meaning “bringer of good news.” Originally, he had another last name but I found someone with the first and last name living in Bucharest, Romania, and in his twenties. Since my vampire prince also lived in Bucharest at the beginning of the story, I decided to change the last name. I searched through the Bucharest online phone book. One popped out at me and it didn’t have Razvan with it. Forte means strong and brave and comes from the Latin name Fortis.

In the book, the heroine is a Gypsy, or as they call themselves in Romania, the Roma. It means man in Romany or Romani. I created the name Saraina. Similar names just didn’t fit her. After a massive search, I found that I had created a name unique in the world. I gave it the meaning: a star that wanders. Saraina’s mother was from India and her father was Roma.

Sometimes names come to you. Sometimes you find them.

Labor Day Paranormal-Scope

Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States of America recognizing the accomplishments of America’s labor.

While I am not qualified to read either stars or planets I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.

The paranormal-scope is for entertainment and is not meant to guide your life.

Aries:
Mermaids work harder at avoiding oil spills in the ocean. They’ve even drawn up a map. Consider mapping out what you can do to achieve your goals.

Taurus:
Sirens are when their bodies feel out of sorts. Exercise is important. Keeping up with medical appointments is vital.

Gemini:
Pegasus is always looking for a sanctuary. Make your home more comfy so when you get home from work you can relax and brush aside the cares of the day.

Cancer:
Cherubs are social. Consider spending some time being social too.

Leo:
Werekittens and werepups are known to save their toys in various places. Investing in savings could be a good idea for you too.

Virgo:
Bats spend their nights eating but also having adventures. An adventure might be just the thing for you.

Libra
Vampires are brave creatures. Their bold spirits extend to their relationships. Don’t be afraid to love.

Scorpio:
Werewolves enjoy doing things with their pack. Community service comes easy to them because they love their community. Extend yourself with some volunteer work.

Sagittarius:
Elves don’t have stress. They let every worry go into the rays of the dawn. If you can’t do that, it may be time to speak with your physician and get some help.

Capricorn:
Dragons are fun-loving. You have permission to have fun too!

Aquarius:
Faeries are devoted to their homes and the faeries in them. Spend more time with those you love.

Pisces:
Shapeshifters may be adaptable to different situations, but they are very aware that words stick. Take care in what you say to others. Misinterpretation can be a challenge this week.

Why Do You Write? This is a bigger question than just for writers. It is a question for every living person. At some point, we are all writers. If we go on to get published, the questions change for us.

Life Tools

When we keep a diary, we are creating a legacy that can be passed down through the generations and tell them what was happening in your life, how you felt, and what was important to you. It can be a thread between generations. A diary can even touch the world such as The Diary of Anne Frank .Keep a dream journal and learn more about you! Consider it a homemade course in personal enrichment.We used to send letters and cards. Now we send emails to friends. I have kept many of the letters and cards sent to me, some from friends long gone. These become treasures in our lives. Anything we’ve written becomes a collage of our lives: poems, stories, and true events in our lives. It all is something to look back on and grow from. When we live through the tough times, we become stronger. When we have good times, we’ve created a treasure to inspire us. Take the photo but print it and put it in a book. Be sure to write on it or under it!

Don’t let the great stories of your life slip away.

Writing Tools

Keeping a diary is a research tool for writers. Whether it’s a full-blown autobiography or parts of a fictional story that is more alive because of the reality in it, the scenes written in a diary builds a living foundation for the story. A non-fiction could be a travelogue of one of your journeys or a how-to on a subject you’re expert on. So write that diary! Help yourself with what you already know.A dream journal is a treasure trove for writers. Some authors’ dream journals become their books. I’m one of them. Writing in diary or letter mode is a very powerful technique. Mary Shelley used the letter writing technique in Frankenstein . Read the book and then you know the technique too.Writers tend to write in a variety of different formats. It’s called exploration. I was a reporter. I also wrote grants. There was a time in my life where I wrote tons of poetry. I even have a poetry book. I wrote short stories. I started writing books. That’s where I found my groove.

There is no wrong answer to why do you write? Over time your answer may even change. The difference for a writer is that writing is air. We need air to breathe.

Writing is a gift to humanity. We learn from our ancestors, because they wrote. Those that follow us will learn about our time from what we leave behind. You don’t have to be a published author for that, just write. Illustrations are also welcome!

A Bittersweet Goodbye

This past week, I lost my father. In a way, it was not a surprise, as he had been declining with dementia for years, but that still did not prepare me for the final moments. I know this is something that we all go through. Perhaps it is a parent, or a spouse, or a sibling, or a dear friend— it is never easy and it is a gap that may never fully close.

Like my ever optimistic self, I turn my thoughts to the positive. He is no longer suffering. He never forgot me, and was always so happy to see me. He knew I put so much effort into his care and he was ever grateful. Despite this, he drove me crazy with stress at times and I can honestly say I had moments where I resented him for not thinking or planning better. Still, I will miss him and I no longer worry endlessly whether he is okay. I know he is.

It is too early for me to say I have learned so much from this experience. Perhaps others reading this blog may have some advice to give in their comments. What I can say is that I do believe it is important to give yourself time to grieve in whatever manner feels right to you. Don’t hold expectations over yourself that require you to snap back instantly-/that is our world that moves so quickly but we don’t always have to follow that pace.

My you be inspired to write this week— happy or otherwise.

Back to School & A Blue Moon Too Paranormal-Scope

Many young people are starting the new school year this week. Some started last week. I remember the days of backpacks, erasers and pencils, pens, notebooks, pen holders, and hot lunches. I have special memories of hot lunch. My elementary school had hired grandmothers and mothers to work in the kitchen and their meals were wonderful.

Mermaids go to school just like the fish. They study map reading, so they don’t get lost. A nice weekend getaway may be just the thing to relieve stress. Don’t forget to map your way.

Sirens are gathering for choir practice. I hear their song is hypnotic. Practice makes perfect for sirens as well as human singers and musicians.

Gemini:
Pegasus is looking for a green pasture to settle in. He loves to watch the seasons change. Photography can be a fun hobby you might like to try.

Cancer:
Cherubs are singing your praises. Your kindness shows. Be kind to yourself as well. Take that class you’ve always been interested in.

Leo:
Werekittens and werepups are known to be good listeners. But sometimes we need another human. Don’t let troubles eat you up. Find someone you’re comfortable with to listen.

Virgo:
Bats have built-in paranormal talent as well as sonar. They love the moon!

Libra
Vampires find the Blue Moon to be a good time to have a party with friends. Avoid vampires but don’t avoid those friends that support and love you.

Scorpio:
Werewolves love a good game whether it’s tossing the football or a good card game. Remember great snacks are important to everyone.

Sagittarius:
Elves are so into books. If they filled their backpacks with all the ones they wanted, they’d fall over. (I used to do that as a child.) There is such a thing as carrying too much of a burden.

Capricorn:
Dragons have been know to wear disguises just so they can buy pumpkin spice drinks and delights. So always smile at the person behind you. They might be a dragon.

Aquarius:
Faeries are attracted to lights. The sun will set at 7:26 pm, where I live. But they are ready with their faery dust to make everything outside look magical. Enjoy the outdoors or indulge in a favorite hobby. Enjoy your life.

Pisces:
Shapeshifters love to change shapes around. New pillows. New arrangement of photos on the wall. Adding a colorful throw blanket to the sofa. They love it all. Enjoy the process of changing up your decor.

See the movie Hubie Halloween with Adam Sandler and a cast of funny people all celebrating Halloween in Salem in their own weird ways. I give the brand new movie The Flash 2 thumbs up. I am a long-time viewer and former reviewer. I was happily surprised by how amazing this movie is! All I can say is they should make more like this!I sent out my scouts to visit Salem, Massachusetts. They report that the sights are fun as well as educational. Shh, don’t tell the kids it’s educational. It’s FUN!If you’re in Connecticut, visit Mystic. There is so much to do there: Mystic Aquarium, Mystic Village Shops, Mystic Seaport, and more.

I am going back to writing my second dragon book now. It’s turned into a lovely day here in Connecticut. Go out and enjoy it.
