Living in the Snow Zone Paranormal-Scope

We had our fun in the sun last week. Tonight for some of us the snow begins. Be sure to have emergency supplies on hand, charge your devices, have spare batteries, and some good books.

While I am not qualified to read either stars or planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.

The paranormal-scope is for entertainment and is not meant to guide your life.

Aries:
The Phoenix burns brightest when loved. Share your time with those that love you the most.

Taurus:
Werewolves plan activities to do in inclement weather. Snowfall can be a time of calm and restoration. Be calm, relax, and perhaps even nap.

Gemini:
Pegasus know the dangers of flying in a storm. Be safe and stay home. Consider an insider hobby to enjoy!

Cancer:
Faeries love laughing. Set up some comedies to watch after a stressful day.

Leo:
Elves are cuddling under blankets. Snow flies outside, Stay warm and watch a movie. The key to this season of snow is to relax.

Virgo:
Gnomes are ready for any emergency. They made sure things have not reached their expiration date and get new supplies are they go. Do the same.

Libra
Sprites marathon around the world and enjoy all the flavors. They are real foodies. Be sure to store some non-perishables you love.

Scorpio:
Dragons love music. It’s time to expand your collection of tunes.

Sagittarius:
Goblins have been going over the budget. You might want to check your finances. Tighten up where you can.

Capricorn:
Mermaids swim to the depths for treasure. Self-reflection is the same for us. Consider all your happy moments and all your strengths and accomplishments.

Aquarius:
Shapeshifters keep moving with dancing and yoga and jogging. If you’re thinking about improving your health with exercise, always check with your physician first.

Pisces:
Griffin enjoy seeing new places. Plan an outing or two after the bad weather passes.

Friendly Neighborhood Paranormal-Scope

It is sunny, bright, and very cold where I am. Let’s think happy, warm, and cozy thoughts.

Elves are knitting. Why? Because they can. Indulge a favorite hobby of yours.

Gnomes have joined a cleanup crew for a park. Consider volunteer work to help your community.

Libra
Sprites have slowed down to smell the flowers. Brings some floral blooming plants into your home.

Dragons have great dreams. Sleep restores. Make sure you are getting enough.

Goblins love yard sales and consignment shops. You might find a treasure or at least something fun by doing the same.

Capricorn:
Mermaids swim to different places to learn about all the kinds of creations in the world. Think about taking a trip or a course on cultures.

Aquarius:
Shapeshifters love the shape of their finances, but feel they can improve with dedicating a certain amount to savings and a retirement fund. If you are thinking this too, talk to your bank.

Pisces:
A Griffin loves puzzles because they exercise their brains and have fun too. Treasure your solitude time and don’t discount doing a puzzle.

Life & Writing Tools: Portable Personal Cozy By Susan Hanniford Crowley

It is easier to make a home cozy than a hotel room where you’re staying a few nights. The key is to bring your sense of cozy with you. Cozy is that feeling of warmth, comfort, and relaxation. You want to make that portable. Here’s how.

The Goal is to Create A Portable Personal Cozy

1. Socks. It sounds silly but socks are vital to our comfort level. You can get a pair of spa socks or bring a pair of fuzzy socks you love from home.

2. Slippers. Slippers protect your feet on many levels and contribute to our ability to relax.

3. A photo of someone or someplace you love. (Above is a photo I took of a beach I go to.) It could be a family photo, a pet photo, or a place you love. Key: Put this in your wallet, pocket over your heart, or in a book sleeve. Otherwise you will be wearing down the battery on your phone.

4. A Book Sleeve. I recommend a 9X12 one. They are easy to fine. Type into search “book sleeve” and you’ll find lots of places selling them. (I like Book Beau and also Amazon when I buy book sleeves.) Don’t choose a plain one as it can be easily overlooked when repacking but one jazzy with colors and graphics you like.

5. Take a paperback book from home that you’ve read long ago and would love to read again. Or bring your ereader with its charging cord. (I have in the past put both in my book sleeve. I now avoid bringing my ereader because of charging. It is enough to setup my phone for charging in a hotel room. You don’t want to be burdened with remembering to repack all those cords.) Bring a paperback.

6. A little notebook (paperback size or smaller) with a pen or two. This is for writing down your experiences and the fun things you see and do. You may be inspired to write some poetry or a chapter in it. Anyway, having it available. Pack it in your book sleeve.

7. Tea or Coffee. When I travel, I always pack my tea cup with a lid and a plastic sandwich bag of my favorite tea bags. Take your favorite with you!

Life Tools: Making Memories By Susan Hanniford Crowley

Every year, I dedicate the lower shelf of my dining room cabinet to a version of our family Christmas Village. It changes a bit each time. I do have to come up with a new angel band platform, since we got three new angel musicians. I thought it would be cute to photograph this, to make a memory.

Life Tools: Making Life Cozy, Part 2 By Susan Hanniford Crowley

If you’re in a storm zone and you don’t have to evacuate, there are several things to make your home more cozy. Last week, I covered some emergency preparations for fireplaces. Here is a valuable link for safety measures for every kind of weather emergency and disaster. https://www.ready.gov/kids It gives all kinds of tips and plans for each.

Once you’ve made your home a cozy sanctuary and have considered some of the activities we discussed last week, try doing these things.

Things to do first.

1. If you plan on lighting your fireplace, have it checked out by your fire department as safe. You might need the services of a chimney sweep. After all that’s done and you know how to safely start a fire in your fireplace, make your fire on the hearth. This is a good reference site: https://www.allstate.com/resources/home-insurance/how-to-start-a-fireplace-fire (I don’t work for Allstate.)
2. If you’re not using a fireplace for backup heat, make sure you have an alternate heat source. If not, you may want to evacuate when temperatures are predicted to drop drastically before the storm hits.

Getting cozy.

1. Read by firelight or booklight or ereader. I personally love paperbacks and magazines because I don’t have to charge them.
2. Get blankets and fuzzy socks
3. Sip some wine or have a hot cocoa or have some herbal tea
4. Binge watch your favorite TV shows and movies
5. Listen to the radio for updates
6. Enjoy your family/partner/or solitude.

Since you were not under an evacuation order and you’re staying, prepare yourself to ride it out. By being outside or even in a car, you are unnecessarily risking your life. Stay home, be safe, and cozy.

A New Way Paranormal-Scope

There really isn’t a photo for a new way. We just have to wait and see. An author on X.com formerly known as Twitter took beautiful photos of a lone tree by the sea shore. The recent storm took down most of the tree. However, I did see new growth coming out of its side. There is always new growth.
