The Thunderstorm Paranormal-Scope

We are having thunderstorms. I hope if anyone out there is similarly afflicted, please take care and go to a shelter if it turns out to be more than a thunderstorm.

I am not qualified to read either stars or planets. I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.

The paranormal-scope is for entertainment and is not meant to guide your life.

Aries:
Gremlins are into breaking appliances. Time to check everything out and make sure it works. How old is that toaster? Some things will need to be replaced.

Taurus:
Mermaids are singing and floating on the waves. They love the smell of barbecues. It’s time to get together with friends and grill!

Gemini:
Faeries are collecting pretty rocks to beautify their homes. Consider what new curtains or sofa cushions can do to brighten your place.

Cancer:
Werewolves are all about self-care. Discuss an exercise program with your physician. Consider eating healthy too.

Leo:
Vampires love to fall in love. Sometimes it’s a person, but other times it’s a book or piece of music. Broaden your reading and music materials. Enjoy life.

Virgo:
Shapeshifters think that broadening ones mind with a little trip to a new location is the way to go. Plan a daycation for yourself.

Libra
Goblins are reviewing savings plans. You might want to review your savings too. Don’t let big priced repairs catch you off-guard.

Scorpio:
Unicorns are running down your street. If you don’t go out much, you might be missing a lot.

Sagittarius:
Sirens are singing their songs that lure victims in. They are the ocean’s version of scammers. Be cautious.

Capricorn:
Sprites do everything very fast. That doesn’t mean you have to. Slow down and smell the flowers.

Aquarius:
Pixie dust can give you excellent dreams. So can reading a fun book.

Pisces:
Elves enjoy going through the history of their family. They also record their personal history to pass down. Journals that are passed down create a treasure. Think about doing that.

Maximillion Vander Meer stood in the jagged mouth of the ice cave with a wolf skin girding his loins and fur boots on his feet. A frigid breeze breathed its welcome over his bare chest, arms and legs.

He smiled and closed his eyes to step back into the Viking past he loved, where he was free. He threw back his head and howled in exuberant abandonment. Then he ripped off the wolf skin and kicked off his boots. Max ran to the shadowed alcove he knew so well.

A flicker of the past sparked in his brain and Vikings filled the cave, their voices rich in the chant of a ritual forgotten in the modern age, invoking the protection and wisdom of Odin, Thor, and Freya. Then he blinked and they were gone. Their voices silenced by time.

Every time he entered this sacred place hollowed out by his ancestors, their presence worked magic and distracted his weary heart from the curse inhabiting his body. This power brought him back to the Viking warrior deep within him, as only here could he reconnect with his lost humanity. Every passing moment the curse pulled him further from whom and what he’d once been. That was the danger in being a vampire. It wasn’t the chill of his body, but the distance that crept into his heart. He was on the edge of forgetting how the laughter of his son warmed him to his toes. He had nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Since the death of his wife many centuries before, nothing more could happen to his empty heart. The feeling of being human haunted him from time to time like an elusive fragrance or taste. Memories were a different matter. The curse, as he called it, made every memory eternal, the pain as raw and consuming as the day he’d lost her.

Squeezing the ancient dagger in his fist, Max stepped up to the frozen altar. The three carved stone figures stared blankly at him. Time, and a growing sophistication, taught him that they were nothing but stone, still the part of him that was Viking would always believe. Holding fast to that reverence of a bygone age, he stood before them.

“I do not call on you, Odin, Father to all, but I respect your wisdom.” He bowed. “I do not call on you, Thor, the strength of every warrior, but I respect your power.” He bowed again. “I call on Freya’s mercy to regain my house, to find the only woman who can heal my heart.” Kneeling with his gaze fixed to the ground, he then rose to stand over the frozen altar. Before the feminine carved figure, he sliced his forearm and let the blood drip onto the icy surface. “In the name of Freya, let me be worthy. Lead me to love. Help me find it or lock me in the ice forever. I can no longer bear the torment of life without true love.”

Life Tools: When Pets Inspire By Susan Hanniford Crowley

Bella has a certain attitude of love towards her family that she shows through affection and protection.

She humors us by playing with the toys we get her. But only after we play with the toys as a demonstration. She sits and watches as we demonstrate how to play with each toy over and over. I think she’s amused. She believes a dinner and a show might make her less finicky when it comes to her food. When she sniffs her food and looks undecided, but if we sing, she becomes interested and eats. Like I said, a dinner and a show. It’s really tough when you have so many beds to choose from. She just travels from bed to bed and sofa to chair depending on where the sunny warm spot falls. Each choice is cushy and soft. Ah, the life of a cat named Bella.She is confident in her skills. If a mouse dares enter her house (and it is her house), he or she is toast.

This little cat never falls to be an inspiration. She always rises to the challenge when she is needed, whether it’s to be cuddly or rid the house of a rodent invader.

Beach Read: Mrs. Bright’s Tea Room By Susan Hanniford Crowley

A few years back, I was asked to write a Steampunk romance. For those that don’t know steampunk yet, the stories are usually alternate histories in Victorian England or the US Wild West. Dirigibles and other vehicles of steam, steam inventions, and sometimes robots are all part of the steampunk genre.

Because it would be in an anthology, I had to stick to a word count. With me, I can only write what I dream. So I did more research on Victorian England which seemed to speak to me. Steampunk romance is usually very sexy. Where many historical romances leave that to the reader’s imagination and behind closed doors, steampunk romance is the opposite. My publisher wanted it hot!

In this hot steampunk romance, the adventure begins in the sky over alternate history Victorian London, which is filled with dirigibles, but we focus on one, the infamous brothel within a lavender dirigible called Mrs. Bright’s Tea Room where spies meet, lovers meet in forbidden trysts, and gentlemen are served more than tea.

Euthalia has no choice but to work for Mrs. Bright. In walks handsome airship Captain Travers, the Queen’s spy. Sparks aren’t the only things flying with Travers, Euthalia’s first customer.

It’s July Paranormal-Scope

We are in the heart of Summer now and celebrating birthdays and fun!

I am not qualified to read either stars or planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.

The paranormal-scope is for entertainment and is not meant to guide your life.

Aries:
Werewolves love being cozy at home. It’s great, but there’s always room to add new friends. Be open to invitations.

Taurus:
Mermaids are great communicators. Their songs actually reach a long distance. Practice your communications skills. Be clever and kind. They will aid you in every aspect of your life.

Gemini:
Pixies dream of doing great things but flitter around and get a little done. Be proactive. Write down the goal and the steps to achieve it. Check off every accomplishment.

Cancer:
Shapeshifters enjoy barbeque. Stretch your expertise with a new cookbook or two.

Leo:
Vampires have headed north for the cool evening breezes and adventure in the wilderness. If you want to do the same, make sure you are truly prepared.

Virgo:
Hellhounds obsess over chasing balls. Chasing lots of things in life is fun. Just make sure you really want the result.

Life Tools: When Lilies Inspire By Susan Hanniford Crowley

These lilies originally came from my first house at Amston Lake. It was a romantic house for a new couple. We had started in an apartment next to a college, but we really wanted a house. Finally we found this little house for two people in love and two cats.

Though the house was very small and had central heating, there were things that impressed me beyond words. Strawberries grew by the water pump house. Orange day lilies ringed the large and sloping backyard. It was right across the street from the lake. The large windows displayed the wondrous lake views.

When winter came, the ice cracked and made haunting sounds throughout the night. It was beautifully seeing the lake with snow fluttering over it. People set up Ice Houses aka Bob-Houses on the lake for fishing.

When spring came again the lilies bloomed. Around that time, we decided to move to a bigger house. We were thinking of family. I dug up a few of the lilies and replanted them in the new house.

Over the years, the lilies have disappeared. Some appear in odd places. I decided to dig up two and pot them hoping to rescue them. Here is the survivor that lived through the winter which cracked the pot. It lived though the hard times, repotting, and instead of the one bloom last year, here are more! (I notice I have to weed that pot again.)

The lily inspires me. So what if there are hard times! So what if parts of life can be cracked! There is always a time to bloom. A time to look around and enjoy the world.

I Felt A Breeze Paranormal-Scope
