Don't mess with her -- she's got a packing knife

The lesson I learned today was that the fine folks at my local post office really love to open everyone's mail. I wasn't entirely surprised. Once I went there to drop off packages and SAW the blonde chick opening someone else's mail and logging the contents in a 3-ring binder.

But when I got that "postage due: $4.95" envelope in my mailbox, my heart filled with dread.

Because I have been known to mail books to my readers at the Media Mail rate with...gasp...BOOKMARKS IN THEM.

Yes, I know. Next t...

More gratuitous cat pics

My SO is under the weather and he's getting some healing vibes kitty-style.

I wouldn't mind being in that cat pile-up. I'm having a trying week.

Wii Fit Plus rocks already

OMG, I posted a while ago that I was geeky enough to program my characters into my Wii so that I'd encounter them doing unlikely things, such as jogging (Unlikely in terms of Victor Bayne, anyway, though he does always look at least as miserable as I feel when we glimpse one another on the jogging trail.)

Wii Fit Plus comes with SNOWBALL WAR. Who flattened goth-boy Michael despite his para-vampiric snowball-throwing skills?

ME! That's who!

Heh heh. I'm off to geekville now.

But wait, there's more

Yes, just when you thought I've said all I could possibly say in an interview, I say even more! Click here for part 2.

And in the comments, too.

It just keeps going. I guess I'm my favorite subject!

My God, it's HUGE

What's huge? The interview I just did for Jenre at Well Read, of course. I asked her to break it into two days so no one attempting to read it would slip into a coma.

Part 1 - My early life as a slasher

Blowing dust off the Alphasmart

My back's been bugging me ever since my Tuesday at the lovely, scenic Buffalo International Airport where they made me stand in line for an hour and a half with a heavy bag on my shoulder, then sent my luggage on the wrong flight. (The Madison end of the equation was no better; they delivered it to my doorstep...at 2:30 in the morning.)

Since I was determined to get some word count in today, I dug out my Alphasmart Dana so I could work in a more comfortable spot.

I'd forgotten what a dream tha...

Sympathy, a Halloween Romance

Sympathy, a novelette-length standalone story, will be available for sale at JCP Books by midnight! Here's a little taste to whet your whistle:

Summary:
It took Anthony Potosi years to recover from the accident that claimed his father's life, and doctors told him he'd never walk again. He proved them wrong. Now he's back at the landscaping business, Potosi and Sons, he shares with his two older brothers—but they seem more interested in getting Anthony to sell out his share than in celebrating h...

Red Roses

Here's a pic from the Madison Vampire Coven reading at Borders. We've all read from our work and are taking questions. I think someone in the audience had just asked us whether or not the current trend to glamorize vampires was ruining the genre--and you can tell Alex and I are thinking about that really hard while Fred gives a pithy and intelligent response.

I love the red tablecloth and roses. (A friend of Fred's brought the fangy pumpkin.) The event coordinator at Borders was awesome. And s...
