On Writing Paranormals

Yay, hooray, it's my day today at the Rainbow Reviews Blog. August is Author Extravaganza month with a post by a different guest author every day. Today I talk about how having a high level of reality in paranormal fiction makes the weird elements even weirder.

When stories take over

Whew, what a drag.

This is Sweet Oblivion 5...so far. A big sheet of paper, three colors of ink and a stack of Post-Its.

I've never had to do this amount of searching for a NOVELLA.

I think I'm ready to write. And I don't think I'll need to throw away too much of what I've written.

Cross your fingers for me.

When research yields a WTF?

The structure of my final Sweet Oblivion story seems to be baffling me. Did I start too soon? Too late? What is the conflict? What is the theme? And why am I suddenly psyching myself out about it? (Because it's the last one, obviously...)

So I decided tomorrow is going to be a brainstorming day, and being the geek that I am, I decided to look up brainstorming on Wikipedia just in case I could pick up some exquisite tip that hadn't occurred to me.*

After reading through the whole deal about various

I Get My Desert Island Membership Card

Yay, hooray! Jenre awarded Camp Hell a 5+ star "Desert Island Keeper" ranking on Reviews by Jessewave today. She said: This was the first book in the series where I felt Vic was able to solve the mystery through using his powers deliberately and not through sheer good fortune – a surprising and delightful turn of events.I hadn't actually thought about it that way, but how true. Vic has needed to hide from "the bad guys" so thoroughly that he's hidden an awful lot from himself, too.

Hemovore Under the Hood #4 - Location, Location, Location

Thanks for reading along so far. This is the final installment of Hemovore Under the Hood, also known as "how to cheat on settings..."

I lived in various Chicago neighborhoods, from Pilsen to Humboldt Park to Lincoln Square, for fourteen years. Hemovore is specifically Chicago. Several of the settings that were prominent in the book couldn't have been anywhere else in the world.
The bridge over the Chicago river with the El running past, and Merchandise Mart overlooking it - particularly how slipp

Sweet Oblivion 4: Swarm is here!

Synopsis

For some time, Michael has suspected that Wild Bill's done more than just dabble in art. As with every other piece of his personal history, Bill plays his cards close to his chest. But when he lets on that a mural he painted before his change might still exist, Michael's dying to see it -- and Bill's never been good at saying no.

Only fragments of the building remain, but it's possible Wild Bill's painting is still there. Unfortunately, there's a lot more in the ruins than Bill and Michae

Hemovore Under the Hood #3 - Rich Guy, Poor Guy

Hemovore by Jordan Castillo Pricemoney's more fun in real life than fiction

The first novel an author writes is usually not fit for publication. I'm no exception! I have three novels that are never going to end up in anyone's shopping cart, and probably about six novels-worth of fanfic that I practiced on before I came up with Among the Living.

One of those long ago novels was about a woman whose estranged father owned a factory. He'd had a stroke, and she had to come home and handle his business because her brother was too self-

More Zero Hour to love!

[info:] andrea__88 just emailed me to tell me she'd finally broken down and read Zero Hour (because serialized stories make her crazy waiting for the next part, so she managed to hold out this long) and she said, "There are 14 chapters, right?"

D'oh!

It appears I forgot to link chapter 14 with chapter 15. So for anyone new to Zero Hour, there are FIVE chapters you haven't seen yet.

Here's a link to Chapter 15

Chapter 20 will come out with the 8/15 edition of JCP News.
