Retrofit - Packing Heat 90

Retrofit
Even for the most linear writer, sometimes writing is not linear! Sometimes we're most of the way through a story when we have our "a-ha" moment, and we realize the story is about something other than what we thought it was about—that the protagonist is someone else, or that the theme is not at all what we thought it was.

Don't force your story into your original plan or outline "just because." Maybe your subconscious has been brewing something more interesting all along, and yo...

My library geekage shows through

While I was trying to wrap my head around the Google settlement and wishing I was writing instead, I discovered my PsyCop series is in WorldCat. YAY. And I discovered that it's being shelved in the mystery (not the romance) section at libraries. YAY.

And that Partners is checked out in Iowa.

YAY.

It's a bit baffling that all this information is at anybody's fingertips. How did I get through college without the Internet? How???

Oh look, here's Denver. CHECKED OUT!  (I was gonna say ca-ching, but I...

Bringin' Home the Bacon...at Clare's place!

The fabulous Clare London is hosting me on her LJ today. Since I'm giddy with the thrill of resigning from my "temporary" (9-year) day job, I thought I'd blog about what I'd be if I weren't a writer!

Come visit   and tell me about your wild and weird jobs!

New Intro
It seemed to me my old intro was too wordy, so here's a new one. I forgot to say this is episode 89, ha ha.

5-Year Plan
You do have a 5-year plan, don't you? (If you're giving me a blank look right now, maybe you do but you just haven't formalized it.)

It's Official

Frankie update

Thank you so much for all your well-wishes. Frankie is peeing normally and eating and drinking. He's really sick of the collar that keeps him from licking himself. He's not too crushed about being confined to my office for his own safety when we're asleep. Today he'll be alone for about 4 hours while we're at work (we work different shifts) but I think he'll be fine.

The medicine went down easier this morning. Not easy. Just easieR. He has an antispasmotic injection, an oral antibiotic and a p...

Sucky weekend

Hey all--
We had to rush Frankie to the emergency vet Friday afternoon with a urinary obstruction. He's back now (with one of those Elizabethan collars on. Does not want.) He also had some manscaping done. Seeing his poor little shaved pee pee was unduly distressing. Mainly we have to watch him because it's the type of thing that can recur, and is lethal if you don't spot it right away.

Given how frayed we all are right now, I figure it's best to take a few days off the Internet. Thanks in adva...

Hot damn!

(Click for bigger pic.)
screenshot of rank

Stroke of Midnight made it onto the top-100 of all romance at Amazon today. Whee! It is the ONLY m/m book there. (There is some menage, but that is so not the same thing.)

Yes, I know the price has everything to do with its success. But maybe it will turn someone on to m/m who just got a new kindle for Christmas and somehow missed the m/m ebook phenomena so far.

I know it's possible. I met someone the other day who'd never ordered a book from Amazon before. She was trying...
