For the December 20th Winter Edition, we will be holding another Cover Art Contest for all of our loyal readers to enjoy. Can a cover DESIGNER participate? Of course. Can an author participate even if they did not design their cover? Yep. Is there a limit on the number of covers that I submit? Please, only send one cover per person/design company. Does it matter what genre the book is? No, but keep it clean!
Submissions will begin September 21st and end September 30th. Voting will begin October 1st and go through October 15th. (See our website for the small print.) The winner will receive a $25 Amazon Gift Card and the other covers will be ranked by place and included in the magazine along with their submission information. The winner will also receive a printable certificate and a specially designed medal that they can hang on their wall, secret room, motor vehicle, book cave, ...you get the idea.
How do I enter? Simply email info@cleanfictionmagazine.com the following: Your Cover Art (In JPG format), Your Name, Name/s of the Cover Artist/s, Title/Author of the Book (if it is not clearly visible in the image), and an Email Address (for contact purposes).

Clean Fiction Authors
There are only 5 days left until the release of the Ebook version of the Autumn Edition 2022! I am so excited!!! I have been using the time between releasing the paperback on September 1st and the Ebook release to relax and catch up on all of the life things that I put on hold while preparing the magazine for print. I have also been actively working on the Clean Fiction Author Listing found under "Authors" on our website. I am excited to note that by the time I finish the Fantasy section alone we will have more than 100 Clean Fiction Authors listed with their preferred genre, author websites, and social media information. I can't wait to see what the final number is after I finish inputting the information from the entire magazine. You may be able to find a list like this somewhere else (I mean, the internet is a rather enormous place), but I can guarantee that you won't find a list with as much diversity as this one has while still being reviewed as clean.
Every author is also listed with how many times their books or writings were featured in the magazine. The leader so far who is not a reviewer (understandably, the reviewers will have their writings featured the most because they write the reviews ; D) is Janeen Ippolito with 9 features of books/writings. Congrats Janeen! There are several others who are not far behind. Check in over the next couple of weeks as I work on the listings to see the changes and maybe find a new favorite!

The Anticipation is Killing Me
The last few weeks have been a crazy cacophony of finishing the Autumn Edition, sending my children to school for the first time, and a million other little life changes that would drive a person to indulge in too much caffeine. It was all worth it of course, but I am seriously playing a weighted game of "Catch-Up" at the moment. I know that many of you haven't yet been able to enjoy the new edition due to a preference for Ebook. Let me assure you that this Edition is chocked full of so much that it will probably take you several sittings to devour it all. I am so excited to share this growing publication with the Clean Fiction Community.

Summer Download
Hello All! As the Summer draws to a close things at the magazine are kicking off! The next two weeks are going to be a whirlwind of activity: finalizing pages, contacting authors, laying out pages, and finalizing advertising. I can tell you honestly that the magazine is shaping up to be absolutely beautiful! The cover you guys chose was one of my favorites and looks stunning along with the past cover lineup. I was also able to sign up for a more prominent stock photo company (thank you to the Realmie who shared a coupon!) and the images are now much more tailored to the uniqueness of our community. I will tell you that due to the workload and the fact that my kiddos are going to school for the first time next week, I will not have a newsletter/blog next Thursday. The next time you will hear from me is September 1st when I will be announcing the Autumn Edition Cover Reveal and hopefully be releasing the Paperback Edition. I have SO MUCH to finish before then (including around 8 reviews that I had to put on the back burner due to an uptick in advertising emails).

Book Cosplay Contest
The number of votes for the Autumn Edition Cover Design Contest has now reached 341 votes! One of the covers is still holding the lead, but again I am keeping it a secret as to which it is (UNLESS you are a Patreon subscriber: patreon.com/cleanfiction. They have been given a Sneak Peek!) Though each cover is awesome in its own way, there can be only one winner. And I am glad that it is the Clean Fiction Community that is making the decision and not me because I don't know if I would be able to choose!
Next, I have an update on the Book Cosplay Contest Submissions. We currently only have one submission for this contest. We need at least two to make it a voteable event. Please send in your photos ASAP! The winner will receive a $25 Amazon Gift Card. So Much Happening in Just 2 Weeks!
I try to keep these newsletter/blog posts relatively short, but that is not going to be possible today! We have winners, voting, and submissions to talk about! Let's start with the Windows into the Multiverse Contest. In honor of the Realm Maker's costume banquet, we are having our annual Book Cosplay Contest. The theme this year was "Time Travel" so I expect all of our great science fiction writers to come out with costumes for their characters. Do you have to attend the banquet to participate? Nope! Any photo of a book cosplay is accepted. Does it have to be science fiction themed? Not at all! If your main character is from a western, go full western! Realm Makers Conference
I missed you guys last week! The conference took all of my focus and energy. I went. I saw. I talked and talked and talked and talked...you get the idea. Being an extrovert wading in a sea of introverts, I must admit to being rather intimidated. Not that I don't know how to talk to introverted individuals (my husband is a super introvert after all), but it usually takes some time for people to warm up to my rather boisterous personality. I tried to curb my enthusiasm so as not to frighten people away and waste what little time I had with each person. I focused on making every interaction count by both being myself (not some sort of marketing robot) and offering what I could to help/support their business. If you missed it, being an author is a small business and if you know me you know that I LOVE supporting small businesses. And there I was, SURROUNDED by small businesses that I could help. (insert glee here) Overall, it was a good experience. I didn't get the benefit of going to the classes because I wanted to be low-key with my first experience, but despite that, I was able to make all sorts of new friends and meet some old friends in person. I gave out all but two of the Clean Fiction Author buttons I brought with me and probably could have given out more if I would have been able to recognize anyone. There were just so many people. We here at Clean Fiction have decided to try something new in this edition. Hold a contest to see what an outside artist would do with the Clean Fiction cover. Up until now, the cover has been painted by our publisher, but it occurred to her that others might like the chance to display their skills. So let’s get down to brass tacks: What are the requirements?1) The artwork must include bold color blocking. This makes the cover easier to enjoy when it is displayed in a tiny format, such as on a person’s phone. Use the past covers as a reference for the preferred style, but feel free to use this style loosely. 2) The artwork must include a figure in modest attire. This could be a man, woman, or creature. Obviously, if the figure is a creature, only humanoid creatures must wear modest attire.3) The theme of the Autumn Edition cover is “Space”. This topic is as broad as you would like to make it. Feel free to be as creative with it as you’d like. And, that’s it! We wanted to leave the requirements as broad as possible in order to give artists the opportunity to flex their creative muscles. Preparing for the Conference
The Realm Maker's Conference is almost upon us and I am planning to attend. Lately, I have been a bit overwhelmed with a lot of family health problems and I didn't know if I would be able to go. But as He does, God provided, and barring illness my husband and I will be in Atlantic City next week. I am making little treat bags to hand out to whoever would like one as well as special "Clean Fiction Author" packages that include a button for those who have been featured in the magazine. Since I had put everything on hold, I now have a very minimal amount of time to finish preparing, but the crazy rush will be worth it I am sure.
I am not sure if I will be putting out a newsletter next week because I will also be using the time away to catch up on working on Cadogan (The sequel to my novel Dreamlight). At this point with all the delays, I won't make the 2022 deadline, but I am optimistic that I can release it in the Spring of 2023. I do have a short story coming out on August 20th called "Angie's Will" and a serial short story called "Her Father's Mantle" the first installment of which is coming out in the Autumn Edition. So busy, busy as usual then.
I hope that all of you are enjoying your summer to the fullest. What have you been up to that has made your summer enjoyable? A good book perhaps or fresh produce from the farmer's market? I have been devouring good books and smoothies lately like it is going out of style. How about you?
