Christmas is Here

Merry Christmas Everyone! I am happy to announce that the Ebook of the Winter Edition 2022 has gone out into the world without a hitch! The Ebook is also still high up on the list on Amazon, #128 in Literary Criticism Reference, thank you again for your support. To celebrate the coming of our Savior I have decided to offer the Winter Edition 2022 Ebook for FREE for the next 3 days! More information is below in the Community Activity section.

There will be no newsletter/blog next week due to a much-needed holiday break. So for contemplation, I will leave you with the lyrics to the song "Come, All You Unfaithful" by Sovereign Grace Music. I found this song recently and it spoke to my heart.

O come, all you unfaithful
Come, weak and unstable
Come, know you are not alone

O come, barren and waiting ones
Weary of praying, come
See what your God has done

Christ is born, Christ is born
Christ is born for you

O come, bitter and broken
Come with fears unspoken
Come, taste of His perfect love

O come, guilty and hiding ones
There is no need to run
See what your God has done

Christ is born, Christ is born
Christ is born for you

He's the Lamb who was given
Slain for our pardon
His promise is peace
For those who believe
He's the Lamb who was given
Slain for our pardon
His promise is peace
For those who believe

So come, though you have nothing
Come, He is the offering
Come, see what your God has done

Christ is born, Christ is born
Christ is born for you

Christ is born, Christ is born
Christ is born for you

May your day be bright and your reading be epic!

Thankful

Since you last heard from me, my children and I have come down with Flu A, the advertising deadline has come and gone, I currently have 46 emails that need attention, our website host had a rather inconvenient period of brokenness, and my completion clock is ticking down rapidly. You could say that I've had a rather rough week, but it seems that the soul-crushing anxiety that usually starts hitting right about now, isn't there. Why? God is in control. In the midst of the last week's turmoil, He blessed and blessed and blessed again. My children and I will be fine, the vulnerable relatives that we have are safe from illness, many family members and friends came together to cover all of my outside obligations, and all of the advertisers who were waiting were very understanding. I could have panicked at the inconvenience of it all but made a conscious decision not to panic and follow where He lead. And I am sure that it was no surprise to all of you that everything has worked out at least enough that I can begin moving forward without much issue. Let me encourage you as we continue into this inherently busy and hectic time of year:

Doing your best is enough. Even if it isn't perfect or on time.
It is good enough and you should be proud of yourself!

And now, for something completely different!

Thanks to all of the Bookstagramers who sent in their photos we are having quite the festive Bookstagram Contest this season. The website is finally ready for your votes so check it out! You can vote once a day thru November 26th. This contest is sponsored by JessicaBertrand.com and ambassador-international.com. Show them some love!

May your day be bright and your reading be epic!

What are You Thankful For?

I know that it is getting to the point of being cliché to ask about thankfulness around Thanksgiving, but having this yearly reminder of your blessings is so very important. In this world of chaos and division, thinking about being thankful for something is almost backward. You are encouraged to be unsatisfied with your life and everything in it. So take a moment today and count your blessings. Maybe share them with your family and friends on social media or (audible gasp from the audience) in person.

Here is also your reminder that I will be spending next Thursday with my family and unfortunately not sitting here chatting with you. The next time you will hear from me is COVER REVEAL DAY!!! December 1st! (insert happy dance here) I cannot wait to share it with you!

Writing Contest Winners

Today is the day that we announce the winners of the Windows into the Multiverse Writing Contest Winter 2022. Due to the sponsorship of Havok Publishing, we received more submissions than we ever have! It has always been difficult to choose a winner or winners for this contest because frankly, we do what we do because we LOVE AUTHORS! When there are so many strong submissions it makes the choices even harder! With the help of some of the Clean Fiction Staff, we have narrowed the winners down to 5 outstanding submissions that used the given image to its best advantage. Through these stories, you will visit a post-nuclear version of Earth, the fields of Heaven, an internal struggle with fear, a captivating beach, and a cavern full of crystals and danger. And now without further adieu, our winners!

Fantasy Winner: "The Elfian Flower" by Kristin Lim
Science Fiction Winner: "Beautiful Wasteland" by Kayla E. Green
Biblical Fiction Winner: "Through the Window" by Craig A. Brockman
Contemporary Romance Winner: "The Cherry Tree" by Daphne Self
Inspirational Fiction Winner: "Just That Much" by Joan Fennell Carringer

Find the winners online in the following places (in no particular order):

Kayla E. Green - theunicornwriter.com Instagram: theunicornwriter93
Daphne Self - www.authordaphneself.blogspot.com @authordaphneself
Joan Fennell Carringer - www.joanfennellcarringer.com @Joan Fennell Carringer
Craig A. Brockman - www.craigabrockman.com
Kristin Lim - No social media or website at this time

We would also like to thank Havok Publishing again for their sponsorship! If you like micro-stories like these, you will love what they have to offer.

May your day be bright and your reading be epic!

Submissions are Open for the Christmas Bookstagram Contest

Update:
We have received only one submission for this contest as of yet. So make sure you break out that tinsel and holly! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Take a Christmas-y photo of your favorite book or a fancy photo of your favorite Christmas book and send it to Clean Fiction Magazine. Our contests are not meant to be complicated, just fun! Submissions will begin November 1st and ends November 16th. Voting will begin November 17st and go through November 26th. (See our website for the small print). Do you have to be an author to participate? Nope. Can you be an author and participate? Yep. This is purely a contest to see who can take/make the most festive picture of their favorite CHRISTMAS book (even if that book is the equivalent to Die Hard being your favorite Christmas movie)! Is that fun or what? If you win you will receive a $25 Amazon Gift Card to use in buying even MORE Christmas books to warm up the winter season.

To submit your photo, simply email info@cleanfictionmagazine.com the following: Your Photo, Your Name, Title/Author of the Book (if it is not clearly visible in the photo), an Email Address (for contact purposes), and Your Social Media Handle/Website.

*Sheepish Smile*

The moment you all have been waiting for, the product 590 votes in the making, the cover of the Winter Edition 2022 IS...You are going to have to wait until December 1st to find out!!! *hears noises of displeasure from the readers* I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I know it is a long time to wait, but we had to do the contest early this time so that the Christmas Bookstagram Contest wouldn't be held in OCTOBER! If you are REALLY curious and cannot possibly wait, we do have a Patreon tier called "Sneak Peek" and one of the Sneak Peek pages this month is the Cover! I am going to be sharing it over there right after I am done writing this. I also will be letting the artist know and swearing them to secrecy! I wanted to take a moment to thank all of our lovely artists as well as the Clean Fiction Community for their participation. It was a close race all the way up to the end! A real nail-biter!

With that out of the way, I am pleased to tell you that our Christmas Bookstagram Contest is now accepting submissions. For more information, check out the Community Activity section below.

Also, NANOWRIMO has begun and I imagine that many of you will be furiously typing words, fingers flaming, eyes riveted on your screen as you create with a reckless abandon that can only be rivaled by flinging one's self off of the bottom step of the stairs in a dramatic manner. Know that I am here cheering for you! I hope to be joining your ranks but only in a small part. I was notified by Grammerly that I typed more than 10,000 words last month and only one sentence of which was in my WIP. What was I doing with all these words? Talking to you and other various members of the Clean Fiction Community. I am preparing for the Winter Edition and connecting with new Clean Fiction Authors with a fervor of extroversion that would send most running for the hills, but here I sit extroverting again. Let me give you a writing pep talk:

You. You there! Yes, you sitting at the keyboard right now. The one with the mug of tea or the cup of coffee, fingers at the ready poised over the letters on the keys. STOP. Stop worrying about being perfect. Stop agonizing over your outline. Stop searching on the web for confirmation that your ideas are marketable. DREAM. Dream with your words. You don't need to force them through the wall of anxiety you have built for yourself. Open the gate and set them free! The delicate gift you hold before you, shivering with fright, is one that some will slap away with angry words. I will not lie and tell you that things will be sunshine and rainbows because there are some that take pleasure in mocking the piece of yourself that you are dangerously placing out in public. But take heart. Your words are not in vain. Sharing love with others is never a mistake. No matter how painful. So, love your writing and share that love with others. CREATE. Then ask others to join you on the journey because many of us are waiting. Waiting for our next adventure. And that adventure could be YOURS.

May your day be bright and your reading be epic!
~ Amy Lynn McConahy, Clean Fiction Publisher

Autumn Beauty

I have had the distinct pleasure of being caught in a few "leaf showers" lately. Watching the bright yellows and deep crimsons flutter around me on the brisk breeze is a gift so magical it could only be created by the Father. I don't know about you, but when I look upon the wonders of the natural world I see Him. His delicate violet brushstrokes on the tiniest of flowers. His laugh in the endless fields of goldenrod rippling like waves in the wind. His love in the bright sun that lights the warm tones of autumn in a dazzling display of vibrancy. I am humbled to behold such beauty in this single human existence that I have been given. How does God show you Himself in the natural world around you?

Cover Design Contest: Let your voice be heard, once per day until October 31st. It is still a very close race. Cover Design 3 by Chubby Worm Art has pulled into the lead with 80 votes while Cover Design 1 by Dodie Hutchison is not far behind with 76 votes. In third, we have Cover Design 4 by Joan Fennell Carringer with 65 votes. There have been a total of 263 votes so far.

Windows into the Multiverse Writing Contest: There are still 5 days to submit your micro-story to the contest. I have had several people contact me in the last few days about submitting and I wanted to reassure you that last-minute entries receive the same treatment as entries received earlier in the month. There are so many good stories already and I CANNOT wait to read more!

Autumn Contests

I hope that all of you have had a great week. Things have been busy around here, but when is it not busy this time of year? Fall is not my favorite season, but the leaves changing color is pretty spectacular. I know that many of you are outside the eastern United States. What is the weather like in your neck of the woods? I pray that all of you are staying safe with all the crazy weather that our world has been experiencing. In the midst of darkness, God will continue to light the way.

Below I have an update on all of our contests, enjoy.

Submissions will open on October 1st, 2022, and end on October 31st, 2022. Please keep your submission to 1,000 words (slight overage is allowed). Send your micro-story, your name as you would like it to appear, the genre of the story, social media handle/website, and an email for contact purposes to info@cleanfictionmagazine.com

We will not use your micro-stories without your permission, and the winner/s will be sent pages for approval. The winner/s will appear in our December 20th, 2022 Winter Edition along with the image on this page.

Depending on the number of submissions we receive, there will be either winners in several genre categories OR an overall winner. Each winner or the overall winner will receive a $25 Amazon Gift Card and an author feature ($40 value). The winner/s will be decided by the Clean Fiction staff and excerpts may be used for promotional purposes.

So Much is Going On!

Have you noticed that there is rather a LOT going on at Clean Fiction Magazine lately? Did you realize that there are only 6 weeks until I need to have everything together to complete the Winter Edition 2022? It is the truth! The advertising/reviewer deadline for the Winter Edition is November 12th. That means that all the contests must be completed or in the voting stage by then. Needless to say, things are a bit crazy around here and this missive is going to be a bit of a long one!

Cover Art Contest: So far we have had a couple hundred votes come in, and the current leader is Cover Art 10, Aivan: The One Truth By Kayla E. Green designed by Hannah Linder Designs. Cover Art 3, Time Hides No Secrets By Joan Fennell Carringer designed by RebecaCovers at Fiverr, is in second place while Cover Arts 7 & 8 are tied for third. (Cover Art 7, Emmazel by Kendra E. Ardnek designed by Kendra E. Ardnek, and Cover Art 8, by Cover Designer Alex Perkins is a book titled The Key to Scientia by Cassandra Knight) That being said, it is still anyone's contest to win. Please share with your friends and family to let them join in on the fun. It is really cool to see what cover rises to the top in the end. Voting ends October 15th and remember that you can vote once a day!

(Contest sponsored by Laura A. Grace.

Contest is also sponsored by Lisa Loucks-Christenson. Check out her upcoming Historical Fiction Series "The Cougar Creek Herald" online at CougarCreekMinnesota.com)

Other Contests: We are still looking for more submissions for the Cover Design Contest. We have only had 3 cover designs come in so far and though that is enough to run the contest we will always want more instead of less. The deadline is October 15th. Tell your artist friends! More information is below in our Community Activity section.

As for the Windows into the Multiverse Writing Contest, we are happy to announce that it is being sponsored by Havok Publishing (https://linktr.ee/havokauthornews). You still have until October 31st to turn in your 1,000-word story. More information can be found under "Contests" on our website.

Announcements: We only have 3 sponsorship spots left. So if you were thinking about being a sponsor (at only $25) don't wait too long. I already have 2 possible candidates for sponsorships to fill those spots, but it is first come first serve.

In other news, we have TWO NEW REVIEWERS! It gives me great pleasure to introduce them both to you!

This Week's Community Activity:
Create a Cover for Clean Fiction Magazine

Will You Design the Next Clean Fiction Cover?

This contest was so well received that we will be doing it again! If you check out the Autumn Edition, you will see last quarter's winner on the cover. And now, for a new contest and a new prompt:

What are the requirements?

1) The artwork must include bold color blocking. This makes the cover easier to enjoy when it is displayed in a tiny format, such as on a person’s phone. View past Clean Fiction covers for the preferred style, but feel free to use this style loosely.

2) The artwork must include a figure in modest attire. This could be a man, woman, or creature. Obviously, if the figure is a creature, only humanoid creatures must wear modest attire.

3) The theme of the Winter Edition cover is “Snow”. This topic is as broad as you would like to make it. Feel free to be as creative with it as you’d like.

And, that’s it! We wanted to leave the requirements as broad as possible in order to give artists the opportunity to flex their creative muscles. Depending on the number of entries, all entrants or staff-chosen finalists will be displayed for the Clean Fiction Community to vote on a winner.

Submissions open October 1st and go through October 15th. Email your submission to info@cleanfictionmagazine.com along with the following information: Your Name, The Name of the Artwork, your Social Media Handle/Art Website, and an Email Address (for contact purposes only). Voting will be October 17th-31st and the Grand Prize Winner will be announced along with the Cover Reveal on December 1st.

What is the Grand Prize? $100
