Life Update
I hope that you all are doing well. We have two contest submission periods ending this week and we will get to those in a moment, but first I wanted to share a short life update that you might find interesting. As of July of this year, I was hired as the Librarian at the New Castle Christian Academy. I am beyond excited! Don't worry this should not directly affect my work at Clean Fiction at all, but I had a request to ask of the Clean Fiction Community. The school goes from Pre-K 3 - 8th grade and being a Christian school I have the freedom to fill the shelves with as much Christ-honoring content as I can. If you have a book that you think would be perfect for our library, please send me an email at sunsetvalleycreations@gmail.com. My plan is to make an Amazon Wish List with as many books as I think would be appropriate for the students for those who would like to support the library to use. You can of course donate a hard copy of your book, but that is not necessary. If I could be so bold, I would also like to ask the Clean Fiction Community for prayers as I add another level to the crazy in my life. God is good and I am so thankful for His blessings, but this change is going to be no piece of cake. Thanks.
Cover Art Contest: Submitting your book cover to our contest is completely FREE and earns you a spot on the Cover Art Contest page in the upcoming edition. Submissions go through July 29. Voting will begin July 31 and go through August 12. (Voting is also FREE) See our website for the small print.
HOW DO I ENTER?
Simply email info@cleanfictionmagazine.com the following: Your Cover Art (In JPG format), Your Name, the Name of the Cover Designer, Title/Author of the Book (if it is not clearly visible in the image), Your Website/Social Media, and an Email Address (for contact purposes).
This Contest is Sponsored by Blade of Truth Publishing (bladeoftruthpublishing.com) and Author K.M. Carroll (kmcarrollblog.wordpress.com). We have room for one more sponsor for this contest! Email Amy Lynn if you are interested in supporting this contest for only $25!
Windows into the Multiverse: There are only 3 more days to submit your micro-stories for a chance to appear in the Autumn Edition 2023. To participate, write a micro-story (1,000-1,500 words) beginning with “Through the window, I saw...” using the photo on the "Contests" page of our website as inspiration. The only restriction on your creativity is that you keep your micro-story clean. All genres are accepted. For more detailed information, visit our website under "Contests".

Cover Art Time!
It's that time again! Submissions for the Autumn 2023 Cover Art Contest have begun and our voting page has gotten a facelift. If you were wondering about who could participate in this contest read on! Can a cover DESIGNER participate? Of course. Can an author participate even if they did not design their cover? Yep. Is there a limit on the number of covers that I submit? Please, only send one cover per author/design company. Can submit a cover that has participated in a previous Cover Art Contest? We ask that you only submit a cover once to one of our cover contests. What about AI art? Human art only, please. Does it matter what genre the book is? No, but keep it clean!
Submissions have begun and go through July 29. (Submissions are completely FREE) Voting will begin July 31 and go through August 12. (Voting is also FREE) See our website for the small print.
The winner will receive a $20 Amazon Gift Card and the other covers will be ranked by place and included in the magazine along with their submission information. The winner will also receive a certificate with a special 3D-printed medallion.

Summer in Full Swing
As many of my friends head off to the Realm Maker's Conference this week, I myself have been given the opportunity to visit family in York, PA. I wish all of those who are attending the conference a wonderful time and my God Bless everyone's hard work and preparation. If you don't have any idea what I am talking about, check out the Realm Maker's organization at realmmakers.com. It is a lovely group of believers that promote clean speculative fiction and Christian speculative fiction.
As for me, I am hanging out on my sister's deck enjoying the birdsong of the morning. I am feeling rather blessed and hope that you too are having the most enjoyable of Summer months (for those of you in the northern hemisphere) or Winter months (for those of you in the southern hemisphere).
Right now the Autumn Edition is 26.6% funded and we are only halfway through July! If you are willing to help support the magazine AND drum up some readers/customers for your business feel free to drop me a line. I am also pleased to pass along that I have completed 39 pages of the magazine already. That is around 39 authors/audio drama performers that have already been contacted with the good news, and the undone pages list in my inbox has not been exhausted yet! We have a new devotional from Finding God in Video Games and new segments of Stronghold and The Unification ready to go. If you would love to read some of these finished pages early, hop on over to our Patreon. Our Sneak Peek tier is only $1!
Our Windows into the Multiverse Writing Contest Autumn 2023 submission period has begun, and so far we have only received 2 entries. I am not worried as of yet because there is still a lot of month left, but if you were wondering if you should submit YOU SHOULD! Write a micro-story (1,000-1,500 words) beginning with “Through the window, I saw...” using the photo on the "Contests" page of our website as inspiration. News and a New Contest
Thank you for making our FREE Friday giveaway last week a success! We gave away a total of 144 magazines in 24 hours. So many people were trying to download at once that it was causing Amazon to glitch. I apologize to those of you who missed out on the special sale because of technical issues. Check out our new FREE Friday schedule below and have the opportunity to complete your Clean Fiction Magazine set within the next six weeks.
In other news, we have a #1 New Release Flag flying on Amazon once again. This makes 12 times that we have had the flag flying for our magazine. Once for each of our paperback releases and once for each of our ebook releases. I am thankful that all of you enjoy our magazine so much and in a world that is full of evil, we manage to be an unexpected light of hope piercing through.
We also have a new feature on the homepage of our website that I would like to tell you about! In the middle of the page, you will find a progress bar of sorts. I will be updating the page count as I finish them and it shows how close we are to being funded for the current magazine. If you didn't know, it takes around $1,500 to put out one magazine. We are supported by advertising, royalties, and Patreon subscriptions. If you would like to help support our magazine, tell your friends. If you would like to help fund our magazine, buy some advertising for your business. If you would like to support our magazine AND get fun extras, subscribe to our Patreon. Our "Sneak Peek" tier is only $1!

5 More Days
5 more days until the Ebook Launch of the Summer Edition 2023! The countdown has begun! I am so excited to share this edition with the world. Other than the high-quality reviews, you will find 3 Serial Stories, 6 Micro-stories, Devotions, Poems, Articles, and Fun Upcoming Contests. Unfortunately, we didn't have any space for puzzles this time around, but I will do my best to sneak some into the Autumn Edition. The micro-stories you have heard about, but did you know that we have a new serial story in this edition? "The Unification" by Joan Fennell Carringer starts this edition with its first installment. This Mystery story with a dash of Science Fiction and Romance is sure to keep you guessing! You can find the first installment in the Mystery & History section of the magazine. We also have "Stronghold" by Nathaniel D. Caldwell returning for its second installment and "Her Father's Mantle" by Amy Lynn McConahy continuing on with its fourth installment.
In other news, I have fully updated our Media Kit to reflect both inches and pixel sizes for our advertisements. I have heard your clamoring in the community and finally had the time to act upon your suggestions. You will also see a place on our Advertising Information form for a Coupon Code! So be on the lookout for advertising deals.
We also hit #1 New Release for our Summer Edition 2023 paperback in Literary Criticism Reference on Amazon. That makes 6 straight #1 New Releases for paperback. Hopefully, we hit #1 again with the Ebook in 5 days! This is a direct result of the Clean Fiction Community and all of your excitement for our publication. For that, I thank you.
Preorder your Ebook copy of the Summer Edition 2023 today on Amazon (scheduled to release June 20th) OR Sign Up for a Yearly Ebook Subscription and receive your copy tomorrow!

What a Relief...
If you are reading this newsletter, the Summer Edition 2023 magazine is finished and has been sent to our Direct Ebook Subscribers and Patreon Subscribers. That can mean only one thing, the Summer Edition is DONE. Finished, proofread within an inch of its life, and out in the world for the select few that subscribed. If you would like to subscribe directly and receive an early copy of this quarter's magazine, visit our website under "Editions".
While I am typing this, I am waiting for Amazon to upload the paperback copy of the magazine. That means that it should be available soon as well! It will take time for Amazon to fully publish the paperback, but rest assured it will be BEFORE June 20th and I will let you know about it on Social Media.
I debated what I should say as the trying time of the last few months comes to a close, but I decided to leave you with the Summer Edition's official dedication because I think that it says it best.
I would like to dedicate the Summer Edition 2023 to our wonderful group of reviewers. During a time when family obligations took me away from my job at the helm, they kept us floating. They didn’t leave me to bail water on my own and went around busily filling any leaks with tar. Without their diligence, the Summer Edition would NOT have happened. I have never done this magazine completely on my own. Though I haven’t even met our reviewers in person, I knew that my Brothers and Sisters in Christ not only had my back but had felt His call as well. As always our most important contributor is our Lord and Savior. His provision has sustained me through this stressful year and given me a purpose much greater than myself. May we spread the light together, my friends, until the bright morning star lives among us. Amen.

Covers, Covers, Everywhere
Today is COVER REVEAL DAY and I couldn't be more excited to share this cover with all of you! I spent a great deal of time sifting through images trying to figure out what style should be the identity of Clean Fiction Magazine going forward. I mulled over what I was looking for: bold lines, color blocking, and easily recognized in small format. I didn't know if there was a proper name for what I was looking for and honestly, it took me an embarrassing amount of time to find out. The word was "Kitsch". Usually, this type of art evokes an irreverence for structure and focuses on rather negative aspects of times past, but I have found that a small group of artists is using their powers of creativity for good. This new group calls the style "Modern Illustration". What I love most about this image is the look on Jesus' face. I imagine that when we pray and tell Him about our day, He is looking down just as interested and just as loving. That is why this image is perfect. I can't promise that every cover will hold such deep meaning, but this one at least does.
When Valeriy Kachaev (the artist) was asked where he found inspiration for his illustrations, this was his answer: I take inspiration from the past. I’m interested in breaking the standards of retro-illustration, which was full of gender stereotypes. In my universe, everyone has equal opportunities and an interesting, fun future. The past gives me the opportunity to evaluate the present and look into the future. I like to put unusual characters in ordinary situations. My heroes are sad cosmonauts, joyful robots, emotional men, strong women. I love my characters, watch the changes in their lives with interest, and safely send them off for new adventures.
Though the paperback is not available today, the preorder is! Preorder your Ebook copy of the Summer Edition 2023 TODAY! (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C...) Both the Paperback and Ebook will launch on June 20th so mark your calendars!!!
May your day be bright and your reading be epic!
~ Amy Lynn McConahy, Clean Fiction Publisher
P.S. We will be skipping one FREE Friday as I am knee-deep in laying out the Summer Edition 2023. I can't wait to share the finished magazine with you on June 20th!
