New Image
Hello All! This week has been a wild one. I have been writing lesson plans, making slide shows, and pamphlets in preparation for the school year as well as finalizing the advertising for the upcoming magazine. All of this on top of preparing my kiddos to start school next week. Crazy as it has been, I am pleased with how things are coming together. Once I have permissions to do so, I should be able to share some of my lessons as a resource for those who are teachers/librarians. Until then, just keep an eye on the newsletters because I will share that information here.
WINTER WRITING CONTEST: We have a new image! If you need time to prepare a micro-story for our next contest, you don't have to wait anymore! The image of a lighthouse at sunset is the prompt for the Winter Edition 2025 Windows Into the Multiverse Writing Contest. I thought that this lighthouse looked rather alien, so expect some Science Fiction submissions this time around! This contest will be accepting submissions in October. Happy Writing!
This contest was sponsored by the Strangers and Aliens Podcast (strangersandaliens.com).
May your day be bright and your reading be epic!

Welcome and Winners
Hello All! We have a lot to get through today, so hold on tight! First of all, we have a new author to add to our roster, our Movie Reviewer, Sarah Daniels! Sarah Daniels works as a staff member of her church in New Hampshire by day, and toils as an aspiring author by night. She’s a movie nerd who’s stuck in the 80s and grew up with classics like Star Wars, Back to the Future, The Goonies, and The Terminator. She’s currently funneling the life lessons she learned from them into a movie devotional and hosts monthly movie nights at her church to teach people how God can speak to us through movies and other aspects of pop culture. She’s passionate about hearing the voice of God and encouraging people to break out of the Matrix and embrace their true identities as sons and daughters of God, and how to partner with God using their unique creative giftings, whatever those might be. Show Sarah some love on social media or check out her website for a preview of what is to come!

Onward for the Kingdom
Hello All! Wow! What a weekend! I was able to meet 4 of our Clean Fiction Reviewers in person (Fairy Tale Reviewer D.T. Powell, Biblical Fiction Reviewer Amber Gabriel, Manga Reviewer A.M. Reynwood, and Superhero Reviewer Erin Dydek) along with a LOT of other authors and reviewers. I definitely visited over 100 booths and managed to organize all of my thoughts in an Expo Scrapbook for future reference. The Realm Makers Expo was, all in all, a wonderful experience full of making connections with friends old and new, worshiping the Lord, and furthering His kingdom using the talents and skills that He has given to us. I highly recommend those who feel lonely in the Christian Speculative Fiction space to pay Realm Makers a visit because I would challenge you to feel lonely in the sea of like-minded individuals that gather there. If you would like to read more about the conference in my Expo Journal, it is available on Patreon and to Yearly Subscribers on our website. Now, using the energy that the weekend has provided, I will go forth and continue the task that the Lord has set before me: Promoting and Supporting Clean and Christian Authors/Businesses/Ministries. Onward for the Kingdom!

The prompt image can be found on the "Contests" page of our website (sunsetvalleycreations.com/contests) and features a young woman at sunset in the forest. Here are some shortened instructions: You are asked to write a 1,000-1,500-word micro-story beginning with "Through the window, I saw..." and submit it within the 31-day submission window on the "Submit Your Micro-story" form found on our website. Submissions are free, and if your story is chosen for print, you will receive a gift card, a 3D printed medallion (in the continental US), and an author feature worth up to $40. Headed to Realm Makers
Hello All! You are receiving this missive early this week because tomorrow I will be on the road with my husband to the Realm Makers Expo! I am so excited, nervous, and on edge, but I feel like I have prepared to the best of my ability. Final packing wasn't as intense as I expected; it seems that I actually remembered most of the important things without a list, and I am going into the next 5 days with as much enthusiasm as I can muster. Unfortunately, there have been a lot of personal things going wrong lately, and some professional chaos as well. Where do you go when things become more than you can manage? Prayer and silence usually work the best for me to re-center on what is most important, but honestly, it has been hard to do either lately. As the sorrow carried by our brothers and sisters in this country and beyond weighs heavily on my mind, it feels almost disrespectful for me to go and have fun connecting with other Christians. Frivolous to chit-chat about made-up worlds and spend time selling small items with no measurable eternal value. So why, why are events like Realm Makers important to the body of Christ? In the same way that we gather on Sunday for church to be in the presence of other believers, to feel their support, and to remind ourselves that we are not alone, I embark on trips like this to experience just a taste of the vastness that is the calling of my fellow believers. God has called all of us to a particular task that He has created us to complete. Alone, I am no one from nowhere, my effect on the world no more than a soft breeze against a craggy rock face. Though when one soft breeze joins with another and then another and then another, not even solid rock can resist the gale. All that to say this simple truth, "strength in numbers" is more than just an adage passed down through time, and frivolous though it may be, I believe that our Lord will use every moment for His glory. Hope to see you there, and if I am unable, I ask that the Lord bless your time spent with other believers and may it strengthen you for the fight.

Cover Art Contest
Hello All! We are looking for businesses/authors who are willing to sponsor our quarterly Cover Art Contest, and you are running out of time! If you want to receive the most "bang for your buck", lock in your sponsorship today. This allows your information to be included in ALL the social media posts and newsletters. It's our best deal at only $25. But do you know what isn't $25? Submitting your book cover to our contest! Submissions begin July 14th and end July 26th, and are completely FREE. We already have several covers submitted, but we are looking for more to feature! Please do not submit a cover that has already participated in one of our contests, but feel free to submit a cover that has already been out in the world. It doesn't matter if your book was published yesterday or 5 years ago, we would love to have your cover participate. Voting begins July 28th.

WINDOWS WRITING CONTEST: We will continue to accept micro-stories up through July 31st. The prompt image can be found on the "Contests" page of our website and features a young woman at sunset in the forest. I never know what authors are going to do with the image I choose, but I can tell you honestly that I have been blown away more times than I can count. Do you want to participate? Here are some shortened instructions: You are asked to write a 1,000-1,500-word micro-story beginning with "Through the window, I saw..." and submit it within the 31-day submission window on the "Submit Your Micro-story" form found on our website. Submissions are free, and if your story is chosen for print, you will receive a gift card, a 3D printed medallion (in the continental US), and an author feature worth up to $40. Winners will be announced on August 7th. This contest is judged by a select few of our reviewers and is sponsored by the Strangers & Aliens Podcast (strangersandaliens.com).

REALMMAKERS EXPO: All of the bookish merchandise has been completed (for real this time...you know how it is with all those last-minute details). My husband is celebrating his newfound freedom (tee hee). I have spent the last week attaching notions, jump rings, and tassels. As well as bagging, tagging, making signage, and inventorying in our sales system. I want to be as prepared as possible. I have done craft fairs and such for years, I even ran one with my cousin for almost a decade, but this will be my first time exhibiting at an expo. I've done my homework, and I am hoping that the final display will be fun and attractive. The nervous excitement has already begun to set in as I embark on a trip that will allow me to meet so many people that I have only known online up until this point. I hope that I don't disappoint ; D If you would like to follow my journey, I will be writing an Expo Journal that will be available to Yearly Subscribers on our website and to Patreon Supporters. I'm sure I will also be posting quite a bit on my socials as well, so even if you aren't in one of these categories, you will be hearing from me.
Do you want to meet me in person? You can find more information about the RealmMakers Expo at realmmakers.com
May your day be bright and your reading be epic!

Submissions Begin!
Hello All! Another week has passed us by, and a busy weekend is ahead of us (at least for those based in the USA). Happy Independence Day to those in the US and Happy Random Friday to those who aren't. Submissions for the Autumn Windows into the Multiverse Writing Contest have begun. As of the 1st of July we have already begun receiving submissions and will continue to accept micro-stories up through July 31st. The prompt image can be found above and features a young woman at sunset in the forest. I never know what authors are going to do with the image I choose, but I can tell you honestly that I have been blown away more times than I can count. Do you want to participate? Here are some shortened instructions: You are asked to write a 1,000-1,500-word micro-story beginning with "Through the window, I saw..." and submit it within the 31-day, submission window on the "Submit Your Micro-story" form found on our website. COVER ART CONTEST: Sponsorships are going fast, so don't wait! We are looking for businesses/authors who are willing to sponsor our quarterly Cover Art Contest. Submissions begin July 14th and end July 26th. If you want to receive the most "bang for your buck", lock in your sponsorship early. This allows for your information to be included in the most amount of social media posts and newsletters. It's our best deal at only $25. REALMMAKERS EXPO: I have been working hard again this week, preparing to make my booth colorful and welcoming. Our magazines are so colorful that I knew that I would have to make merchandise that would be able to stand next to them and still catch the eye. If you didn't know, I am the layout and graphic design specialist for our magazine, which means that I really love to create. Playing with fonts and graphics is one of my favorite ways to wile away an afternoon. So designing bookmarks, keychains, and charms that our target customers would love was great fun. My husband, on the other hand, was the one who has been doing the hard work. 3D printing with fine detail and high contrast is not for the faint of heart. After dozens of products, though, he now has it down to a science. I couldn't have done it without him! Taking what I create from the digital world to the physical world is addictive. I am sure he wants me to stay away from my computer long enough to allow him to catch up on his to-do list, and at least for now, I will appease him.
Why am I making fun bookish merchandise? You can find more information about the RealmMakers Expo at realmmakers.com

So Much News!
HELLO ALL, and welcome to all of our new newsletter/blog subscribers! This is going to be a long one, so hold on to your digital device and make sure you read this ALL the way to the end, or you might miss something FUN!
First of all, we hit the top of the Amazon charts once again in the Catalog and Catalog & Directories, respectively, with our ebook and paperback placing in separate categories. These numbers don't even include all of our direct and Patreon subscribers, so I am extremely pleased that we achieved this honor for the 14th time in a row. That means we have a perfect record btw!
1,000th FOLLOWER: I wanted to take a tiny moment to share my excitement that we have finally hit over 1,000 followers on Instagram (@cleanfiction). It is by far our social media with the most growth, and hitting this goal was a long time coming. Our Facebook Group (Clean Fiction Magazine) and page (Sunset Valley Creations) are also growing every week. Why not add your own follow to our social media numbers? (Shameless plug)
WINDOWS INTO THE MULTIVERSE WRITING CONTEST: Submissions for our quarterly writing contest begin on July 1st and go through July 31st. The new image can be found above and features a young woman at sunset in the forest. You are asked to write a 1,000-1,500-word micro-story beginning with "Through the window, I saw..." The best part? Submissions are free, and if your story is chosen for print, you will receive a gift card, a 3D printed medallion (in the continental US), and an author feature worth up to $40. This contest is judged by a select few of our reviewers and is sponsored by the Strangers & Aliens Podcast (strangersandaliens.com).

REALMMAKERS EXPO: On July 18th-20th, my husband and I will be at the Realmmakers Writing Conference and Expo. That means that I will be giving you little updates on how things are going with preparations in the next few weeks. This week, I am featuring a tote bag that I designed. It says, "When you CREATE for the King do all FOR HIS GLORY." From far away, it reads, Create for His Glory while the rest of the writing is more legible up close. It is a great way to start a conversation about the gospel. When strangers ask you, "Who is the King?" You can tell them. I am very excited to be going to this expo in Grand Rapids, Michigan, so if you are in the area, feel free to stop by and check it out! You can find more information at realmmakers.com

Happy Release Day!
Hello All! I know that we are a day early, but I couldn't wait any longer! Our newest magazine, the Summer Edition 2025, is now available online and in print! If you are a Yearly Subscriber or a Patreon Supporter, you have already received your copy. We highly recommend giving our magazine a review on Amazon or Goodreads to help others find Clean Fiction. The biggest news about this edition is that it ended up being 40 pages LONGER than the Spring Edition! That rounds us out at 194 pages of reviews, micro-stories, articles, ministries, devotionals, serial stories, story segments, and our brand new POETRY section! I am so excited to share this edition with you, and will take a moment to also share the dedication for this edition.
Summer Edition 2025 Dedication: This 15th edition of Clean Fiction Magazine is dedicated to PERSEVERANCE. With every step we take in this life, it is required of us by our Maker to continue to put one foot in front of the other. At times, the pace is a joyful sprint, and at others it requires pressing determination. The world constantly beckons us with enticements off the path or wraps our limbs with weights meant to drag us backward and hinder our every movement. Sometimes pushing forward through the brambles placed in our path leads us to a bone-deep weariness that pulls the very light from our souls, but our Saviour continues to call us forward, and we must heed Him. So continue to persevere, my brothers and sisters. “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)
May your day be bright and your reading be epic!
