A Winner and Another Contest

I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend celebrating the birth of our country. This was a nice calm week in my household. I hope that it has been a calm one for yours as well.

Just in case you missed it on social media, we have a winner for our Cover Art Contest! P.S. Patton with his cover for "The Withering" was our winner with a total of 299 votes. We had a total of 688 votes in total which is another record! 2nd place goes to "The Girl with Stars in Her Eyes" by Dawn Ford with a total of 112 votes. 3rd place goes to "Fountains and Secrets" by Lisa E. Betz with a total of 101 votes. To view the rest of the covers and their rankings you will have to read the Autumn Edition coming out on September 20th. I want to thank all the authors that contributed and all the voters for taking time out of their day to participate in this fun contest. If you are sad that you missed out, we will be having another Cover Art Contest for the Winter Edition and the submissions begin September 21st and end September 30th.

Did you know that you could be a Contest Sponsor for only $10? You can buy an online banner the same size as the one below (See banners at our website homepage) to appear on the contest and voting pages for the duration of the contest/voting. You will also receive a shout-out on social media. Show your support for Clean Fiction Magazine AND have your book/business seen by hundreds of people. Space is limited so don't wait. Email inquiries over to info@cleanfictionmagazine.com

P.S. The banner above is a real advertisement for a short story I have coming out this Summer! I can't wait to share it with you!

Clean Fiction Cover Design Contest

Are YOU the Next Artist to be featured on the Cover of Clean Fiction?

We here at Clean Fiction have decided to try something new in this edition. Hold a contest to see what an outside artist would do with the Clean Fiction cover. Up until now, the cover has been painted by our publisher, but it occurred to her that others might like the chance to display their skills. So let’s get down to brass tacks: What are the requirements?1) The artwork must include bold color blocking. This makes the cover easier to enjoy when it is displayed in a tiny format, such as on a person’s phone. Use the past covers as a reference for the preferred style, but feel free to use this style loosely. 2) The artwork must include a figure in modest attire. This could be a man, woman, or creature. Obviously, if the figure is a creature, only humanoid creatures must wear modest attire.3) The theme of the Autumn Edition cover is “Space”. This topic is as broad as you would like to make it. Feel free to be as creative with it as you’d like. And, that’s it! We wanted to leave the requirements as broad as possible in order to give artists the opportunity to flex their creative muscles. The staff will choose their favorites and then the finalists will be given to the Clean Fiction Community to vote on a winner. Submissions open July 1st and go through July 31st. Email your submission to info@cleanfictionmagazine.com along with the following information: Your Name, The Name of the Artwork, your Social Media Handle/Art Website, and an Email Address (for contact purposes only). Voting will be in August and the Grand Prize Winner will be announced along with the Cover Reveal on September 1st. What is the Grand Prize! $100

State of the Community

Firstly, I would again like to give a big thank you to those who hung out in the Discord Chat during Monday's Clean Fiction Community Day. It was great being able to chat with Clean Fiction Authors and learn a little bit more about them. Also, I was able to give away all the prizes to happy community members ranging from vinyl stickers, buttons, 3D printed bookmarks, and a paperback of the Spring Edition. If you are mad that you missed it or were interested in some of those prizes, you can check out the Clean Fiction Community Discord Server (our conversation is still there) and the Sunset Valley Creates Etsy Shop (etsy.com/shop/sunsetvalleycreates) We had a great time and it was a lot of fun!

In other news, I am hosting an all day takeover of the "Free Christian Books and More Facebook Group" on Friday, June 24th starting at 8am EST if you would like to hang out on Facebook. This will not be a strictly Clean Fiction event and I will spend some time talking about my books as well. It will have the same feel as the Community Day, but with more of my own author information included.

We are coming to the end of the Cover Art Contest! We have received almost 539 votes so far and in a twist of fate Cover Art 9 has pulled ahead with a total of 216 votes! That is slightly over 40% of the total votes. Anything could change in the next 7 days so make sure you vote for your favorites now! You can vote once per day at cleanfictionmagazine.com under "Vote" up until June 30th. We don't collect your information, only your votes. So cast your vote with confidence.

Lastly, a short reminder that submissions for the Windows into the Multiverse Contest only go through June 30th. Don't miss the deadline!

I hope that your day is lovely and your reading is epic!

Write, Write Write

The painting above (see Clean Fiction website) is what I prefer to call a “Window”. In a way paintings, photos, and other visual arts are “Windows” into another space. Whether it is the artist’s mind or a recreation of an actual place, these “Windows” allow us to pause for a moment and see someone else’s view.

Why the “Multiverse” then? Many authors use paintings, photos, and other visual arts in order to write fantastical stories of different places, times, and planets. When you look at the painting above, where do you go? A water planet on the outreaches of space? The high seas on a pirate vessel? A mysterious island full of secrets? This “Window” can lead anywhere your imagination can create.

What the Contest Entails: You are asked to write a micro-story beginning with “Through the window I saw...” using the painting above as inspiration. The only restriction on your creativity is that you keep your micro-story clean. Though, if you have decided to read Clean Fiction magazine, I would imagine that this would not be at all limiting for you.

Submissions will open June 1st, 2022 and end June 30th, 2022. Please keep your submission to 1,000 words or less. Send your micro-story, your name as you would like it to appear, genre of the story, social media handle/website, and an email for contact purposes to info@cleanfictionmagazine.com. We will not use your micro-stories without your permission, and the winner/s will be sent a page/s for approval. The winner/s will appear in our September 20th, 2022 Autumn Edition along with the image on this page. They will also receive an author feature to go along with their micro-story (a $40 value).

Depending on the number of submissions we receive, there will be either winners in several genre categories OR an overall winner. Each winner or the overall winner will receive a $25 Amazon Gift Card and an author feature. The winner/s will be decided by the Clean Fiction staff and excerpts may be used for promotional purposes.

We cannot wait to see what you do with this new image and are excited to read your submissions! Happy Writing!

Last Chance!

Happy Thursday Everyone!

The end of the month is headed toward us like an oncoming train.
Again, I would like to give a couple of reminders. Voting for the Best Bookstagram Contest and Submissions for the Cover Art Contest will close Tuesday, May 31st. We have some fun starting June 1st, but you can read about that below. ALSO, I wanted to again offer Clean Fiction Author buttons to all of our wonderful featured authors. If for some reason you cannot send $5 for shipping and handling, I will still send you a button! All I need is for you to email your address to info@cleanfictionmagazine.com

Now with that out of the way, I want to talk a little about the coming Memorial Day Weekend. I hope all of you have fun plans with family or friends to get together and eat delicious food. During the festivities could you give a moment of pause for those who gave their lives in active military service to protect our country? I know that some misunderstand the holiday and choose to honor veterans, who definitely deserve to be honored, but Memorial Day was to be celebrated as a memory of those who were lost. So, I would like to take this particular moment to thank the families and friends that survive those who gave their lives so that I could live in a country where I can be a Christian openly, without the threat of death or damage. Your sacrifice and the sacrifice of those who continue on without you in their lives is recognized and honored. Thank you.

I have so much to tell you!

As the title implies there has been a LOT going on this week. First I would ask that you say a little prayer for my family. We are all down with the flu and though we had our flu shots (which kept the fevers away) me, my husband, and three kiddos (7,5,&3) have been hacking up a lung since Sunday. If you could pray that it doesn't turn into bronchitis or pneumonia, I would appreciate it. NOW, on with the fun stuff!

I have 2 new buttons in my Etsy shop (https://www.etsy.com/listing/12121776...). One says "Clean Fiction" and has our stacked logo on it and the other has Paquito and "Clean Fiction Super Fan" on it. Both are 1.5" round buttons. I have a bunch of fun merch to add to the shop in the coming weeks including: stickers, magnets, and bookmarks. So keep an eye out! These items don't come from some fulfillment company. They come directly from me AND everything is made in the USA! Many of the products come from a small business right across the Stateline from me in Ohio or are made by my 3D printing husband.

For even more exciting news, I have completed a big project: making a listing of ALL of the authors that have been featured in Clean Fiction magazine along with their contact information that YOU can have access too! Under the "Authors" link on our website you will find around 75 authors who have been featured in either the Winter or Spring Editions. There were a few whose names did not make it on the list due to lack of internet contact information, but other than the three or so, they are all there! I had special Clean Fiction Author buttons made and it was my intention to mail them out for free, but then I found out how much the shipping would be. To mail out 75 buttons it would come to: $375 and I just can't afford that cost right now. So, if you are a featured author on that list and you would like a button of your own, I am asking that you help out with shipping (a measly $5) OR to find me at the Realm Makers Conference in July. That way I can give you a button for FREE! If you want a button, please fill out the following form so that I can mail you one OR know to bring one for you.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FA...

Last, but certainly no least, I have officially finished the Media Kit for Clean Fiction. That means that you can now pay to advertise your books, author services, art services, book launch, etc. I am excited to share with you that the prices I am able to offer are WAY below industry standards and still enable me to pay our reviewers/columnists. Event Listings start at $5 and a whole page is only $120. WHAT!?! I know! AND, if you check out the last page you will find several ways to earn discounts to make the prices even more inexpensive! For more information, visit the Clean Fiction Media Kit under "Pricing Guide" or visit https://www.sunsetvalleycreations.com... .

Well, that is all for today, but be looking forward to more in the coming weeks! So much excitement is on the way! Have a lovely day.

Vote in the Readers Choice Awards

VOTING FOR FINALISTS: MAY 1-21

Vote from our list of nominated books (our semifinalists). The five books with the most votes will become Readers’ Choice finalists. Here’s what you need to know:

Anyone can vote.

You can only vote once. Multiple entries will be disqualified. Please don’t try to game the system by using multiple names and email addresses so you can vote more than once. While we appreciate your zeal for your favorite books, if we suspect you’re trying to cheat, those votes will be disqualified.

You can only vote for books you’ve actually read.

Give each book you’ve actually read a star rating.

Don’t five-star your favorite and one-star everything else, Maleficent. That’s a good way to get your vote disqualified, and we do check.

Be thoughtful. The authors deserve that.

As of right now we only have two submissions. This is the LAST CALL! The Best Bookstagram Contest submission period ends April 30th. Do you have to be an author to participate? Nope. Can you be an author and participate? Yep. This is purely a contest to see who can take the prettiest picture of their favorite book! How fun is that? AND if you win you will receive a $25 Amazon Gift Card to use on buying MORE books to take pretty pictures of...and read of course... To submit your photo, simply email CleanFictionMagazine@gmail.com the following: Your Photo, Your Name, Title/Author of the Book (if it is not clearly visible in the photo), an Email Address, and Your Social Media Handle. Contest winners will appear in the Autumn Edition 2022 that will launch September 20th. Up to 10 other entrants will appear in the Autumn Edition as well. If you want a fun way to advertise your book or gain social media followers, this contest is for you. We cannot wait to see what fun and beautiful Bookstagrams you come up with!
