Daily Meditations of A Nurse Warrior

What do you do to protect yourself?

When life and people continually knock you down or disappoint, it is very easy to hide. When, in fact, you are only hurting yourself even more. It is when you begin to trust Him to be your refuge (see Psalm 91:2) that you will never have to hide again. For He will "deliver" (91:14), "answer" (91:15), "be with [you] in trouble" (91:15) , "rescue" (91:15), "satisfy" (91:16) and "show his salvation" (91:16) to you. So, instead of hiding, might you consider keeping Him right by your side, at all times, and see all of His promises come true. #ProtectYourself ...with... #TheFullArmorOfGod

What causes you to celebrate?

There is much worth celebrating. For one man it was the return of his prodigal son. After asking for his "share of the estate" (Luke 11:12) and then "[squandering] his wealth in wild living" (11:13), the son came back home. Instead of being reprimanded, his father celebrated his return with "a feast" (15:23). So, whatever the reason, might you, too, consider "[having] a feast and celebrate" (15:23). #KillTheFattedCalf & #Celebrate

What do you do with His handiwork?

Identified as "God's handiwork" you have been "prepared in advance" "to do good works" (Ephesians 2:10); and when you do not do "the good [you] ought to do...it is sin for [you]" (James 4:17). So, whatever "[kind] of [gift]" (1 Corinthians 12:4) that has been "given [to you] through the Spirit" (12:7), might you use your gift "for the common good" (12:4) instead of keeping it to yourself. #DoGood & #ShareIt

How influential are you?

There are many ways to impress, sway or move others; and doing so was Barnabus. By spreading the good news, The Word, Barnabus, was able to influence "a great many people...to the Lord" (Acts 11:24), because he was "a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith" (11:24). So, if you want to influence others, might you, too, consider becoming a Barnabus. #InfluenceByFaith & #GodlyCharacter

How well do you use your words?

Words, however expressed, matter, as "the tongue has the power of life and death" (Proverbs 18:21). For those "who find wisdom" and "gain understanding" (3:13) become "a tree of life" (3:18); and those who do not "[belch] out foolishness" (15:2) and become a tree of death or Qliphoth. So, might you choose to seek the wisdom that you need to speak kindly and responsibly to others so that you, too, can reap the benefits for doing so. #EveryWordMatters

What do you do with your brokenness?

Brokenness is not weakness, but strength; and if you allow Him to show and help you, He will turn your brokenness in to "treasure in jars of clay" (2 Corinthians 4:7). So, might you consider His offer and take the treasures that you have collected and, faithfully, use them for good works. #BlessingsOfBrokenness

How willing are you to ask for help?

When constantly challenged by life and people, you can, quickly, find yourself discouraged and exhausted; and if trying to do everything alone, it only gets more challenging. Wanting to help with the discouragement and exhaustion is someone who wants to "renew your strength" (Isaiah 40:31); and if you let Him, you "will soar on wings like eagles and run and not grow weary" (40:31). So, instead of trying to avoid a helping hand, might you consider putting your hope in someone that will give you the strength and stamina that you need to keep soaring and running, without cease, your race. #PleaseAsk for #HisHelp

How relevant is age, when it comes to living life?

Age is just a number; and if you listen and buy in to the hype associated with stigma, stereotypes and attitudes, you limit yourself and may never realize your full potential. Chosen to lead God's people out of Egypt, after four hundred years of slavery, was "Moses [who] was eighty years old and Aaron [who was] eighty-three" (Exodus 7:7); and per instructions, "went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded” (7:10). So, if age ever comes in to question, might you remember what Moses and Aaron did. #NeverLetAgeDefineYou #NeverTooOld #NeverLimitYourself & #LiveLifeToTheFullest

How committed are you? & How well do you honor your commitments?

Commitments can be hard; but they reveal how dedicated you are. For Timothy, it was sharing the "gospel", faithfully, even though he felt like he was "suffering...to the point of being chained like a criminal" (2 Timothy 2:8-9), but was not, as "God's word is not chained" (2:9). So, whatever commitment(s) you make, might you remember to always finish what you start. #ShowUp & #FollowThrough
