Daily Meditations of a Nurse Warrior

When was the last time you were pruned? From time to time, we all could use a little pruning; and when we, as believers, choose to cut back our branches, The Gardener will prune everyone so that we may be ever more fruitful (see John 15:2, 4 & 5). #cutaway & #bearmuch

What kind of foundation have you built for yourself? You have a few options, rock or sand. The difference between the two is whether or not you choose to put Christ's words "into practice" (Matthew 7:26). When we choose to practice His words, we are "like a wise man who built his house on the rock" (7:24). #strongandsolid or #weakandfaulty

In order to make things right for those who have wronged us, Romans 12:21 encourages us to "not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Our paths should only be to "hate[s] what is evil" (12:9).

It takes a lot of courage to do the right thing; and when we decide to stand up for what is right, we are never in the fire alone, because He is always there to give us the courage that we need. In 2 Kings, Elijah stood his ground, amongst many. He was able to do so because he too knew who had his back (1:9, 12-15). #bebold #confident & #courageous

Daily Meditations of a Nurse Warrior

Has life taken you to a point to where you feel overwhelmed, rushed, and pressured? When our lives get to this point, we need to consider taking a step back to catch our breath. In Deuteronomy, God set the tone, to allow rest for his people, when He set the Israelites free from bondage in Egypt (see 5:13-14), and under unfavorable working conditions (see Exodus 5:6-9). In saying this, we too need to consider finding a way to catch our breath and restore our body, mind, and soul, in order to be able to work in an environment that is healthy. #takeamoment & #makeyourwellbeingapriority

When we strongly believe in something, such as the wellbeing of others, "let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!" (Amos 5:24).

As Americans, we are blessed, two-fold, when it comes to our freedom. First, we have the ability to act, speak, and think without restraint; and secondly, we are provided, through God's sacrifice, the ability to love others, even our enemies, be kind, forgive, and live with hope, because of the spiritual freedom that Christ has bestowed upon us (see John 8:36 & Galatians 5:1). #GodBlessAmerica

Need your house cleaned and someone to help? If so, the cleaning starts from within, before it can be done outside; and helping us to confront and conquer these internal problems is "Hosanna to the Son of David" (Matthew 21:9), who was called to drive out exploitative moneychangers from the temple (see 21:12-13), and did so from the inside out. #getyourhouseinorder

What characteristics represent the heart of a good leader? One of those is having the ability to mentor others. A mentor encourages, influences, inspires, and builds others up. A noteworthy mentor was a man named Ezra, meaning "helper." Ezra led a spiritual awakening, in Jerusalem, with the help of someone who provided him with encouragement, direction, and wisdom (see Ezra 7:9-10). Strive to be an Ezra. #leavealegacy

What are you willing to sacrifice? Pat Tillman, James O Fraser, Judson Van Deventer, and many others, gave up their dreams for something greater, a higher purpose, just like Peter who left everything to follow Jesus (see Mark 10:28). No matter what is your calling or purpose, consider surrendering yourself for the greater good and most importantly Him, because those who follow Him will receive "a hundred times as much in this present age" (10:30). #worththesacrifice
