Daily Meditations of a Nurse Warrior
How well do you know yourself and others, especially God? In order to know ourselves, others, and Him, we need to consider taking the time to get to know each one of them. When doing so, we can appreciate who and what they are, especially when we look at Jesus (see John 14:8-11). #knowing #appreciating & #revealing #onestruecharacter

How aware are you of your surroundings? Even if you're not, someone else always is. This someone, "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged" (Deuteronomy 31:8). #ourlookout

Busyness keeps us from seeing and dealing with many things. It is through silence and stillness that we are able to see our shortcomings. In doing so, we can rest and and dwell in the shelter of the One who hears, answers, and stays with us always (see Psalm 91:1). There is no safer place than with Him. #ourshelter

How far are you willing to go to get something that you desire? We are shown perseverance when God told Joshua to "Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful" (1:8). We, too, may consider doing as Joshua did, by following God's words of wisdom, as we persevere to make our dreams and desires come to fruition. #gettingthereby #nevergivingup

Life's challenges, today, are no different than during the days of Christ. Like us, Lamentations reveals the times of having "downcast souls" (see 3:20) and dealing with destruction, which caused "bitterness and gall" (see 3:19), but never losing hope. Through these difficulties, we are reminded that His "compassions never fail. They are new every morning." (3:22-23). #amercifulman

How do you balance living two separate lives, one independent and one dependent of Christ? Paul tells us we 'can't walk the line of living a life that is pleasing to God apart from faith in Christ.' If you choose to walk this life with Christ, you are invited to live in the body and live by faith in the Son of God, the one who loves and gave himself for you (see Galatians 2:20). #togetherorapart

Ask yourself, just as King David did when he was under attack, "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you...What can mere mortals do to me?" (Psalm 56:3-4). Then and now, there are people who will attack others by spreading falsities, in an effort to tear down or ruin them, because of their own insecurities. It is through prayer and our faith in Him that will give us the courage to get through these hurtful times and become a better and stronger person for doing so. #fearnot & #standstrong

When grieving, it is human as well as healthy to shed a tear, both man and woman alike; and just as Jesus did, in Matthew 23:37, when He said "Jerusalem, Jerusalem...how often have I longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings." He wept because he cares and is concerned for our well-being. #tears #touch #hearts

Being lonely can make you feel things that you never would have ever imagined possible. Loneliness can bring a person to their knees and make them feel isolated and have no meaning or purpose, thereby attributing to one not being able to have meaningful relationships (see Ecclesiastes 4:7-8). Fortunately, even in our loneliness, we are never alone, because His Spirit is always with us (see Matthew 28:20). Reaffirming God's promise is Ecclesiastes 4:9-10. He says that "Two are better than one...if either of them falls down, one can help the other up." #becourageous & #seekHishelpandfriendship

How bright is your light? We live brightly through our kind gestures, words, and actions towards others, such as sharing a smile, saying a prayer, or providing encouragement. Through these good deeds, we receive His faithfulness, everlasting hope, and unconditional and life-transforming love (see Matthew 5:14-16). #stepoutintothespotlight #beanilluminator & #keeponshining
