Daily Meditations of a Nurse Warrior
Never think that your job is less important than another's, because it is not. Each one of us has an important job to do; and whatever your job may be, we are "co-workers in God's service" (1 Corinthians 3:9). When we value and do our jobs well, we are working together for the greater good, something bigger than ourselves. #community & #teamwork #makesadifference

Ecclesiastes 2 2:22 asks us: "What do people get for all the toil and anxious striving with which they labor under the sun?" In my work experience, some have unnecessary near death experiences, die an early death, or develop long-term, chronic health conditions. Recognizing that work is necessary, but can also be "anxious-striving" and "grief and pain" (2:22-23), God asks that we trust in him; and when we do so, He will provide. #takesomeRandR & #findabalance

When words are able to speak to us and can be relevant and pertinent to our daily lives, how important is it to continue to listen and follow them, especially when it is Scripture? If you choose to dedicate yourself to this practice, His words will become sweeter than honey to your mouth (see Psalm 119:103); and continue to be full of grace, truth, and a lighted path for your feet (see 105). #howsweetisthat

How do we forgive? God shows us how he forgave the world, just after the death of his one and only son, through an earthquake. As "The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open" (Matthew 27:51-52), "God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them" (2 Corinthians 5:19). #chosetoforgive

Not too many people like to be corrected; but when it is necessary, it can be done so in a way that is not inflammatory, critical, or derogatory. Proverbs 15:31 refers to being corrected as "life-giving correction." When we heed correction, "we will be at home among the wise" (15:31-32), and gain wisdom and understanding; but if we choose not to, we will reap the consequences (15:10). #yougainmuchwhenyoulistenandlearn #constructivecriticism

Life can hit us hard, at times, and when it does we can all use a helping hand. Romans helps us to see the importance of helping one another through prayer. Verse 15:30 urges us to join each other in our struggles by praying to God for one another. When we support one another, through intercessory prayer, we experience His strength, comfort, and trust in knowing that he answers our prayers. #partnersinprayer

Feelings of irrelevance or insignificance can cause us to question our purpose and reason for being here. It is in Ephesians 2:10 who reminds us that "We are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works." Because of His workmanship, we are here; and being here shows us that each one of us are relevant, significant, and capable of doing great things. #weallmatter

How does life get any better when we allow Christ to live within us; especially when he fills our hearts with joy, (see Philippians 4:12-13); gratitude, (see Colossians 2:6-7), hope, (see Romans 8:28); peace, (see 3:15); purpose and energy, (see Colossians 1:28-29), in all circumstances? Our hearts become Jesus' home, when we trust in Him (see Colossians 1:27 & Ephesians 3:17). #manygoodreasonswhy #homeiswheretheheartis

How strong is your heart? I thought my heart was strong until it was broken. Since suffering a "broken heart," I have realized that "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever" (Psalm 73:26). Might you too also consider Him to be the true strength of your heart. #aheartlikenoother

When was the last time you took the time to write a letter or note to someone? Peter reminds us how impactful it is when we let others know how valued they are, especially when believers were being persecuted by Nero, the Roman emperor. Peter acknowledged the believers by telling them that they are "a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession" (1 Peter 2:9). Whether it be through a letter, note, or Scripture, consider taking a moment to reach out to another, struggling or not, and show them how much you care about them. #acknowledging & #valuingothers #isnoteworthy
