Daily Meditations of A Nurse Warrior

How well do you heed warnings? Certain things happen in our lives for a reason; and if we do not heed them, we will suffer somewhere along the way for not doing so. Such warnings also lend themselves to God’s coming kingdom (see Matthew 10:7). He said, “whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven (10:32–33). So, whether you choose to heed your own warnings, at least consider heeding his. #DontIgnore & #AlwaysBeAware

Why is it so difficult to love family?

Insightful to such a question is 1 Timothy. Even as complicated and difficult as it is, we are called to "put [our] religion in to practice by caring for [our] family" (5:4), "our household" (5:8), and not just when they deserve it. If this is not a good enough reason, then consider doing so because "it is pleasing to God" (5:4). #reasonswhy #familymatters

How are your needs being met?

Take a look around. We are surrounded by everything that we need. He made sure that our needs were going to be met through his amazing creation. Among His creation, we are able to see our needs being met in "all sorts of seed bearing plants, and trees with seed-bearing fruit" (Genesis 1:12 NLT). When we take the time to see and appreciate what He has done for us, we do not need to worry about our needs not being met, because he has us covered. #notice #appreciate & #givethanks

How do you love your enemy?

It is extremely difficult to love those whom we do not like, despise, or care for. Having similar feelings towards one another is the relationship between the Jews and Samaritans. In order to avoid the Samaritans, the Jews would take a longer way home. Seeing this division, Jesus decided to bring salvation to all. In doing so, He told his disciples, regardless of how they felt, to follow his lead in sharing this great news as "[his] witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria" (Acts 1:8). Consider finding a way to overcome your disdain for others and love them any way. He did. #embracethechallenge & #loveoneanother

Righteousness or revenge, which will you choose?

The decision seems so easy to make, especially when we have been wronged or hurt. Consider David's dilemma. David had the opportunity to get his revenge against Saul and chose not to because "the Lord forbid that [he] do such a thing to [his] master" (1 Samuel 24:6). So, when Saul found out that David chose to spare his life, he said to David that "you are more righteous than I" (24:17-18). Now, as you consider your answer, do so very carefully, just as David did, because either choice will change your life. #choosewisely

Consider the following questions: How do you handle life's storms? & Who comes to your rescue when the storms come?

Storms roll in and out of our lives; and when these storms happen, "He [will] still the storm to a whisper" and hush the waves of the sea (Psalm 107:29). Then, when He does, remember to "[give] thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind" (107:31). No matter the storm, He will respond and come to our rescue. #havecourage #remaincalm & #becomforted

How can you find peace and calm, even in the midst of chaos?

How truly blessed are we when we have someone who never sleeps (Psalm 121:4), and chooses to watch over us (121:3), day and night (121:6), "both now and forevermore" (121:8). So, when feeling uneasy, uncomfortable, or unsettled, always know that you can still have peace and calm, because "[our] help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth" (121:2). #calminthestorm

Why does it take a tragedy or disaster to establish momentous or celebratory occasions?

It is through these events that cause us to remember and, hopefully, reflect on what happened. Noting such a day is when "[Jesus] took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me" "(Luke 27:19). So, when the next noted day arises on your calendar, consider understanding and reflecting on why such events are remembered, because each one of them has relevance and meaning to each one of us, especially the One who sacrificed his all just for us. #meaningfuldates

Who knows you better than you know yourself?

Whether you believe it or not, there is one person who does. The Lord knows us (Psalm 139:1) and is "familiar with all [our] ways" (139:3). So, when you are not at your best and are having struggles and difficulties, consider having Him "search [you], and know [your] heart;" and have him "test [you] and know [your] anxious thoughts" (139:23). When you allow Him to do so, he can help restore and rewrite some of those not so proud moments. #nowheretohide

What do you seek when you read something?

If your response is answers, the Bible is a great place to begin. Like other literature, the Bible can also be difficult to read and understand; but if you read and study the Bible on a consistent basis, you will find the answers that you are looking for. Billy Graham and Jeremiah chose to seek the Bible for answers too, and when they did, Jeremiah "ate them" and said that "they were [his] joy and heart's delight" (15:16). Cozy up with your next best read. You will always find the answers, when you seek real wisdom. #abestseller
