Segugi d’ombra
Informazioni generali e avvertenze
Non tutto ciò che ha la forma di un segugio d’ombra è tale: si consiglia di non toccare tutte le creature dalla forma canina che sembrano costituite di fumo, poiché potrebbero essere espressioni di incantesimi riusciti male (potenzialmente letali), spettri parziali o persino grami (conosciuti anche come cani dei cimiteri) che in particolari periodi dell’anno assumono forme diverse.
Si ricorda inoltre che i segugi d’ombra sono spesso messaggeri del Ministero Oscuro e ostacolare il loro lavoro è proibito da una serie di leggi.
Detto questo, i segugi d’ombra in sé non costituiscono pericolo per un essere umano, o per qualunque altra creatura vivente, ma è bene prima di tutto accertarsi che si tratti di un vero segugio d’ombra.
Origini
I segugi d’ombra sono i primi fantasmi imbrigliati della storia della magia oscura: sono costituiti dallo spirito di un cane che viene prontamente estratto dal corpo poco prima o poco dopo a morte effettiva di esso e fissato in modo che mantenga una forma fisica, sebbene non possano esistere per troppo tempo al di fuori del mondo spirituale, e perciò vengono evocati sporadicamente e per non più di poche ore, rischiando altrimenti la disgregazione.
Il metodo di estrazione dei segugi d’ombra è molto probabilmente stato inventato dal noto stregone Paulus Grimorius nel tentativo di creare messaggeri rapidi e impossibili da uccidere con metodi tradizionali.
Aspetto e comportamento
Nell’aspetto, i segugi d’ombra sono, proprio come i cani domestici da cui derivano, estremamente variegati: grandi o piccoli, corpulenti o magri, alti o bassi sulle zampe e con ogni forma di testa e di orecchie. Alla vista si presentano sempre senza colori, ma in scala di grigi: dal bianco puro (un mantello rarissimo, di solito indice del lavoro di uno stregone eccezionale) fino al completamente nero. Nel mondo spirituale, dietro il velo, i segugi d’ombra si presentano con un corpo compatto, a volte leggermente traslucido, e chiarissimi occhi brillanti, mentre la loro manifestazione nel mondo fisico sembra essere fatta di fumo o vapore, con contorni sfrangiati e fluttuanti, e occhi bianchi privi di pupilla. Spesso la manifestazione nel mondo fisico dei segugi d’ombra è di taglia più piccola rispetto a quella che hanno nel mondo spirituale. La forma spirituale dei segugi d’ombra non necessariamente corrisponde a quella del cane da cui sono stati estratti e persino lo spirito di un chihuahua potrebbe essere grande come un piccolo cavallo, ma al ritorno nel mondo materiale il segugio d’ombra riprenderà la sua taglia originale.
I segugi d’ombra si comportano in maniera identica al cane da cui sono stati estratti; possono essere irrequieti, giocherelloni, timidi o aggressivi, ma in ogni caso obbediranno a qualunque ordine del mago che li ha creati.
Curiosità:
Per anni la comunità magica è stata indecisa fra la classificazione dei segugi d’ombra come artefatti o come creature. Alla fine è stato dichiarato testualmente che “nessuna cosa così adorabile e piena d’amore può essere un artefatto, essi sono perciò animaletti magici”.p { margin-bottom: 0.25cm; line-height: 115% }

Il Fiore e l'Artiglio - Nuova edizione! (Becchini, mafia e un pizzico di western)
A pochi giorni di distanza dall'ultimo libro pubblicato, il nostro Furiacieca a fumetti, siamo lietissimi di annunciare che è finalmente disponibile per l'acquisto un altro volume!Questa volta è un romanzo, anche se l'illustrazione di copertina è come sempre creata dalle nostre artiste ufficiali, Furiarossa e Mimma.
"Mark McWoodland è un giovane contadino che per sbarcare il lunario aiuta l'impresario di pompe funebri locale, Paul Grimm. Mite, tranquillo e con un animo sensibile, il ragazzo riesce spesso a non farsi infastidire grazie alla sua altezza impressionante e al suo aspetto minaccioso.
Sara Barker è estroversa, aggressiva, invischiata fino al collo in circoli criminali e ha amici che nessuna madre vorrebbe che sua figlia frequentasse. Spesso sottovalutata a causa del suo aspetto, sa che nel suo mondo deve farsi valere con le azioni.
Insomma, Mark e Sara non potrebbero essere più diversi. Cosa succederebbe se li si costringesse a frequentarsi a causa dell'amicizia storica delle loro famiglie?

Inizialmente avevamo scritto questo libro per un concorso sui libri d'amore, tagliando completamente la parte paranormale/sovrannaturale. Poi, però, non abbiamo vinto. E come avremmo potuto? Mark McWoodland e Sara Barker (e qualcuno di voi li conosce bene) sono personaggi profondamente legati al mondo sovrannaturale, due dei grandi protagonisti della saga del Cammino delle Leggende, e scrivere della loro gioventù escludendo del tutto ciò che l'ha resa così speciale ha, come si suol dire, strappato via l'anima della storia.Perciò abbiamo deciso di estenderla e cambiarla per includere anche le parti fantasy!E questo libro è il risultato. Speriamo davvero che ve lo godiate! Fra l'altro, manco l'avessimo fatta apposta, il libro esce proprio nel giorno di San Valentino... figata, eh?

Furiacieca/Blindfury: finalmente il fumetto cartaceo è stato pubblicato!
Finalmente! Finalmente è nelle nostre mani, muhahahahaha!
Ve la ricordate la nostra breve storia a fumetti, Furiacieca? Sì, il prequel disegnato (ma leggibile in maniera separata, come tutte le nostre storie!) di Urban Legends. Finalmente abbiamo trovato un modo per stamparlo!
Ed è nelle nostre mani. Guardate che figo:

E siamo orgogliosi. Anche se è un vecchio fumetto. Anche se abbiamo aspettato tipo... cinque anni prima di renderlo disponibile come copia fisica XD. La prossima volta proveremo a pubblicarlo più velocemente. Scusate.
Però, anche se è una storia vecchia, è ancora carina ed è un tassello fondamentale del Cammino delle Leggende. Breve, concisa, con protagonista un licantropo gigante... cosa volete di più?
Ed è per questo che, ora che sappiamo come pubblicarle, abbiamo intenzione di creare più storie a fumetti per il Cammino delle Leggende, brevi racconti che andranno a comporre i tasselli mancanti della narrazione, belli da leggere da soli, ma ancora più entusiasmanti se siete appassionati della saga!

Un riassunto del 2020... per i Cactus di Fuoco
Newsletterina breve mensile per i nostri follower! YAY! No... no, aspettate. Non è finito semplicemente un mese, si è concluso un anno, il 2020!
L'anno più doloroso, schifoso, orrendo della nostra storia personale e forse degli ultimi trent'anni in generale. Abbiamo qualcosa da festeggiare? Forse.Abbiamo qualcosa da comunicare? Sicuramente!Cominciamo con le cose piccole... e poi andiamo a quelle più grandi. Ecco l'anno dei Cactus di Fuoco (e anche un accenno di sorprese per il futuro):
1. Anche Dicembre 2020 è finito! Una piccola cosa, se confrontata con l'immensità di quest'anno, ma abbiamo lavorato duro (come sempre). Ed è dunque è il tempo di rivelare quello che abbiamo creato in questo mese. Esploratela e divertitevi, germoglietti! 2. Ma se questo mese abbiamo pubblicato così tanta roba... quanto abbiamo creato in tutto l'anno? Detto fatto! Abbiamo sparso su internet, fra disegni, schede dei personaggi, capitoli di romanzo e illustrazioni varie, ben 896 cose diverse! (di cui la maggior parte sono proprio disegni). Ci sono artisti che non fanno così tanta roba in tutta la loro carriera. Beccatevi questo! Siamo stati bravi eh? Eh? Eh? (E allora perché ci sentiamo come se avessimo buttato quest'anno nella spazzatura?)
3. Ci siamo fatti l'account di Instagram! Non ci followa (si dice così fra voi gggiovani, vero?) praticamente nessuno, ma noi non ci scoraggiamo e vi buttiamo qui il link, giusto in caso a qualcuno venga il ghiribizzo di essere sempre informato su tutte le sciocchezze che facciamo: https://www.instagram.com/cactusdifuoco/
4. Pure Le nostre artiste, Furiarossa e Mimma, si son fatte un account instragram! Probabilmente pubblicheranno roba una volta ogni morte di papa e non lo useranno granché (ce l'hanno solo per stalkerare i concorrenti ed i giudici di X Factor, let's be sincere), però ogni tanto pubblicheranno contenuti fighissimi, perciò... seguitele! https://www.instagram.com/furiarossaandmimma/ 5. Abbiamo vinto (DI NUOVO!) un premio Watty! Che vi dobbiamo dire? Andate a leggervi il libro, è lungo, è completo, ed è abbastanza carino. Vi piacciono i licantropi, vero? 6. Quest'anno abbiamo pure pubblicato un casottone di libri su Amazon! Un autore normale quanti libri pubblica in un anno? Uno. Se va proprio benissimo e ha la mano posseduta da un dio del fuoco, due. Noi ne abbiamo pubblicato cinque. Potrebbero essere sette, ma abbiamo deciso di tenerci bassi, anyway, perché non vogliamo far venire gli scompensi a tutti gli scrittori del mondo. I titoli? Io sono il Drago, Blindfury, Autobiografia (forse romanzata) di un drago dorato, Io, Dracula e altri mostri e il Bambino dei Cimiteri. E Blindfury è pure un fumetto, ecco.
7. Stiamo scrivendo per voi delle nuove storie pazzissime! Due saranno fanfiction strane, ma anche se non conoscete quello di cui parliamo le potrete leggere e divertirvi lo stesso, perché come sempre introdurremo pian piano i personaggi come se fossero originali, quindi li potrete conoscere e fare finta che non si tratti di fanfiction (anche perché quando avremo finito cambieremo i nomi e le pubblicheremo come libri... avete presente come hanno fatto con le Cinquanta Sfumature di grigio? Ecco, quella era una fanfiction di Twilight, lo sapevate?). Vi diamo degli indizi? Sì, vi diamo degli indizi, parole a caso: Megalo Box, Tha Supreme, cantante libanese, arcobaleni, wrestling.
8. Stiamo scrivendo anche delle storie un po' meno pazze, per la vostra saga preferita, quella del Cammino delle Leggende. Se siete fans di Mark McWoodland e Paul Grimm, adorerete il nostro prossimo libro.
9. Tutte queste cose le stiamo scrivendo con penne biro su quaderni, quindi abbiate pazienza, ci vorrà un po' di tempo per trascriverle.
Abbiate cura di voi, proteggetevi dalle intemperie, innaffiatevi abbondantemente e leggete quanto vi è necessario! Possa il fuoco dell'ispirazione illuminarvi, e le spine metafisiche stuzzicare il vostro intelletto. BUON ANNO NUOVO!

Hawk also came out of it far from unharmed: his kidneys were literally pulped, one barely functioning, the other removed. He'll have to undergo dialysis for the rest of his life if he can't find a kidney transplant. He also received terrible spinal trauma, and survived only thanks to the force infused by his own power into the muscles at the base of his back, but he will have to undergo surgery if he is to walk again.

He is advised to stop working as a superhero, considering that he no longer needs it (he has collected a hefty premium from insurance and can continue to live comfortably thanks to his earnings in the music world) and that he is forced to undergo about three hemodialysis sessions each week, lasting nearly four hours each, which clearly interfere heavily with his superhero activity, as well as his strict diet and fluid intake regimen.
He refuses. When Anya and Valder turn eighteen, he hires them as his helpers or “sidekicks” and, if possible, his career becomes even more brilliant. His illness remains a secret: Anya and Valder, transforming themselves into perfect copies of him, show up in public when Hawk is forced to his dialysis sessions.
In short, Anya and Valder fall in love with him: it seems that the relationship of simple friendship, or even just of adoration towards that strong, altruistic and brilliant man is not enough. Both confess their love. Both are, without hesitation, accepted and become his lovers.
And that's when Hawk informs them both of his new plan: to capture Brainstorm/Werhunter. But doing so won't be easy and he will need all the help he can get, so a reform is needed that will allow him to use the powers of the new Superboomers. What animates him is a ferocious desire for revenge: he wants to avenge the wounds of Anya and Valder, as well as the life of the boy who died during that sad day, but above all he wants to rip Werhunter's kidneys to finally receive the transplant that a list of waiting too long would preclude him for several years to come.

ICDL illustrazioni - Urban Legends (artisti vari!) parte 2

Urban Legends ha vinto un Premio Watty nella sezione paranormale quest'anno! Ma questo probabilmente lo sapete già... continuiamo a festeggiare con altre illustrazioni dedicate a questa vecchia storia, ancora realizzate da artisti esterni al nostro team! Insomma, le fanart. Ci guardiamo ancora le fanart.
1. Un crossover di mondi! In questa fighissima illustrazione digitale creata dalla nostra amica artista Aria-Suna-Kunoichi, potete vedere Furiadoro (la donna lupo bionda) insieme alla gigantesca, imponente, mostruosa Mica Rea (un personaggio di Aria) e un'altra licantropa, quella tutta nera, di nome Anya, che appartiene ad un amico di Aria. Tre femmine arrabbiate e pronte a mangiarsi il mondo, che combattono fianco a fianco e... nel dubbio, meglio non farsi trovare fra loro e l'obiettivo a cui stanno puntando, se non si vuole essere spezzati a metà.
2. Un'adorabile piccola chibi Furiadoro disegnata da Angy89, con indosso il suo outfit "classico": la felpona e i pantalonacci. Certo che è strano vedere Furia in versione pucciosa...
3. Più oscuro e intimo, anche se è solo uno sketch a penna, questa illustrazione di Smilofelinae cattura la natura animale di Furiadoro con una certa efficacia. Che dire, amiamo come ha disegnato i denti della nostra Furia!
4. Un regalo inaspettato da fearandme (aaah! Ci siamo dimenticati come ti chiami su Wattpad! Fatti avanti e ti taggheremo in maniera corretta), un'illustrazione digitale della forma umana di Furiadoro. E guardate, ha anche le cicatrici corrette sulle mani e sulle braccia! Questa è dedizione.
5. Questa illustrazione di Furiadoro è un regalo di uno dei nostri lettori più accaniti, nonché collega scrittore e artista, Francesco Terracciano. Benché Furiadoro non sia la regina degli aurolupus (a dire il vero non è neanche tendente al grado di alfa, non ha proprio la stoffa del capo, pure se mena la gente XD), apprezziamo la scritta "Queen of the aurolupus" come un bel complimento, del tipo "la regina per me, perché è la migliore".
